~Bluetooth: I think it's time people stopped going to church and truly serve god in the corner of their bedrooms. This altercation between CAN and the catholic church is just embarrassing. Far from what you think. CAN is not a church. From origin CAN was set up as a christian pressure group sort of. It is a political body whether you like it or not. All fomer CAN presidents have played politics with heads of government one way or the other. |

Onaiyekan has been CAN president before. He cannot remain CAN president for life. I heard this thing is rotational among Catholic, Methodist, Anglican and penticostal. Oritsejafor is doing the turn of Penticostal and in no time the mantle will shift.
If Catholic eventually pull out, by the time it gets to their turn, other groups might want to pull out too. They should settle amicably. It's give and take. |

Frank-C: The problem of folks like you is that you hate GEJ more than you love Nigeria. You are too afraid of his succeeding and hence, so willing to dissociate his efforts from any ray of hope in the horizon. You people sell hopelessness and hatred and bigotry and this has practically nothing to do with getting Nigerians a better society but expanding the empire of your sponsors. Who will not see this information and urge the government to work harder to make it before 2030 but you are more preoccupied with making sure GEJ doesn't take any credit. Spot on, my brother. You'll notice that folks like Gbawe, Demdem, Koruji and co will avoid this thread. |

koruji: I would not waste my time approaching GEJ if I were Afenirere, but our elders are less prone to telling the center to go to h$&^@#l. Obviously, they believe this was not deliberate or that GEJ can be made to come to his senses.
Come to think of it, when Yorubas were included in the center what good did it do us. They allowed some funds to flow to the region from the center but imposed thieves and scoundrels as our local administrators. They stole those funds and made nonsense of our collective local efforts. That is not a good bargain in my opinion.
Yorubaland should take the opportunity to increasingly distance itself from the center. Put in place parallel systems for replacing what should be the FG's responsibility. Region-wide security network for enhanced peace and security. Activate latent economic engines to generate prosperity for our citizens. Enhance education, health and infrastructure delivery region-wide. If need be come up with ways to by-pass the center in international relations. Tinubu keeps brainwashing you guys with propaganda about illusions just because he doesn't want any superior but to remain the Alpha & Omega of Yoruba land. South West was offered Speaker of House of Reps, his party teamed up with the North to disgrace that fine woman. You are here insinuating about the South West being politically mature. Do you think South West is more politically mature than the north? The north keeps Vice President, Senate President, Speaker House of Reps, Chief Justice of the Federation and you are here talking as if you know it all. Wait and we shall see where the ACN and CPC romance will land South West. |

Why can't the press ask them first how many megawatts those onse are generating? Thieves in government. |

Baby mama: The pictures in Anambra are from rural towns and Calabar is a state capital Can't you people read? Yea . . . I think some peeps here are just trying to make jest of Afam, considering he is from South East. Anyway, I think Calabar is blessed naturally. The city does not have this kind of red, dusty soil we saw in Anambra. Besides. it has a large body of water (sea) stretching almost the right length of the city providing this welcoming temperature to visitors. The Calabar drainage system too, though not underground like Abuja and Uyo, is very effective. It rains silly, but dries up almost immediately. So apart from the clean and green, nature favoured Calabar. |

2012: 139th out of 176 countries 176- 139 = 37th most corrupt country (37 places from Somalia the most corrupt)
So in fact, we dropped two places in the rankings and we are moving closer and closer to Somalia You are wrong. We have rather improved alot. Check TI's website yourself on http://www.transparency.org/cpi2012/results |

gregg2: GEJ winning the war on corruption?
Nigeria moves up 6 places from 147 last year to 137 out of a total of 174 countries ranked. Denmark retained its top spot as the least corrupt country in the world while Somalia stays put at bottom 174th. There are however, 193 nations on earth.
Similarly, the Jonathan Presidency this morning feels Nigeria could have moved up many places in the ranking but not for a heavily sponsored campaign on the media aimed at portraying the administration as not being serious in the fight against corruption. It pointed specifically at an alleged 5trillion naira looted during the Jonathan administration planted in the PUNCH newspaper and various other campaigns aimed at influencing a poor rating for Nigeria by the anti-graft organisation.
