Culture › The name benin and her origin Benin-ife Conspiracy by gregyboy(op):
The name benin like i said was probably giving by the itsekiris to describe the edo to the Portuguese who had come in contact with them at the shores, the name ile binu (land of anger) was used to describe the benin people to the Portuguese to warn them not to venture into benin, ile binu was later corrupted as benin by the Portuguese

Note: As a benin man and who is well familiar with my language i can say there is no parable or sentence or even a word in the benin language that has the word bini or ile binu, used to describe ourselves in the edo language
Meaning the edo people never even referred to ourselves as benins till after the end of the empire, they always referred to themselves as edo in memorial , if it is indeed true if we are to believe on the Oduduwa myth, and not the account of the itsekiri on the origin of the name benin, then the word ile-binu should have been longed incorporated into the benin lexicon before 19 century when we benins began using it to address ourselves for political distinction from othed edos
Our neighbors including the itsekiri knew us as ado a mispronounciation of the word edo, the bini of today called themselves, these further explains that Portuguese after picking the name from the itsekiris, started calling us benins without the edos awareness to the name just like every other tribe that got their name coined from the European

Till date a benin man still refers to himself as edo
Linguistically and benin politically

I thereby say those people promoting the beni-ife are doing it for cultural and political gains which need to stop

It is oviedo not oviebinu or oviebini

It is avbivbedo (we the edos) and not avbivebenin

Why is your Oba called "Ikeji Orisha," "Ovbi Adimula" (son of Adimula) and "[s]Abieyuwa N'ovbi Odua N'uhe (The son of the wealthy Odua of Ife)[/s]?
Okiji Orisha was never his praise title neither does any benin understand it,

Adimula is not a Yoruba name the last time i checked

Abieyuwa n ovbi uhe, is a receipt titled added his title to promote the bini ife myth, it was never an ancient title but rather a 2020 title, which we know was included for cultural supiority issh

Just get it at the back if your mind benin-ife was a made up shit by the binis and yoruba after the creation of nigeria to unite edo ad a Yoruba tribe they needed a common history such as oduduwa

This poster made a valid point. But you know, most newspapers have their headquarters in Lagos, so they erraneously have this belief
that whatever that is happening in Lagos affects other parts of Nigeria, and in some cases they are correct

You're just ignorant you think those yoruba slsngs were popular in south south

In ss the slang that held weight is

Wahala which came from warri
Matter we dey settle which came from benin
Ogun dey kee u, an edo slang too
Edo No Be Lagos
Mummy Be Calming Down
Life no balance
Most of this slangs are ss slangs warri and edo

Any slang that is in English or pidgin would easily diffuse in south south and se, the others would be tagged yoruba slangs

Some of you hardly leave your SW. He is right.

I stay in SE and I don't know the meaning of Soro soke, I only saw it on Facebook or NL during the end SARS saga, but no one in Igbo land uses or used it. Only Igbos who stay in Lagos use it.

Ko por Ke ? I am hearing of that one for first time today.

O wrong nah? No one in SE uses this. I have seen it once on twice on NL and Facebook and never knew the meaning or tried to find the meaning.

Gbese? No one in SE use this too. We rather say "Nsogbu" or Wahala!

OP is a typical ignorant Yoruba man who thinks life starts and ends in SW and hence thinks his SW realities are same for others outside SW.

The title of the thread was wrong.
Yea, yorubas really are ignorant bro

A pidgin slanf will diffuse easily in south south and southeast than any tribal slang

SimpDetector:
You are not alone. Many men have lost attraction for their wives but they are still enduring the marriage. The ones that cannot endure go on to cheat.

This is why I'm not a fan of marriage. It puts people in uncomfortable situations in the long run, especially men. As a man you aren't naturally designed to be monogamous. Don't mind what any of these man made institutions tell you about marriage, it's all bullshit.

OP you fuçked up by getting this girl pregnant in the first place. Always use protection when fuçking these bitches. You took your fuçk up to the next level by marrying her. Now you are stuck. My advice is that you should file for a divorce and rid yourself of this problem. You'll gain your freedom back and life will be better for you. As a man your needs should come first. It's not your fault that she isn't attractive enough for you. And it will be unfair to her to keep pretending that you are attracted to her. There are lots of men that will find her attractive, let her go and meet them. Marriage no be by force.

My only issue is your child. Most kids from divorced homes don't usually turn out right, but with proper individual parenting from each of you despite not being together, the kid could turn out right.
Can you imagine someone giving your father this advice against your mother

Ha, chaii you nor get brain

Divorce and marry another wife, why stay in a marriage you don't like, marriages were meant for happiness.
The mistake you made was marrying her, so if she get Belle only the child is your responsibility not her.
