esoorita: Spyder, another fascinating project successfully completed. No moaning or any complaint by the client, this is the sort of result every client looks forward to achieve. This project is an additional proof of your competence. You are tremendously blessed.
Building Construction is like Boxing.
You either knock out your opponent and claim the victory (no grammar in this)
or you wait for the judges to reveal their score-cards. (that is if the opponent has not sent you to hospital)

Spyder has ALWAYS given the 'knock-out upper cuts'!
You give him house to build, Spyder JUST builds your house according to the agreement. No referee score-cards, no grammar, just HOUSE!

Good Job (again!) to Spyder and his boys!

Kairoseki77: On the thread with the letter, one of the most liked comments is about how "lucky" Goodluck is because Iyabo's open letter came at the perfect time.

GEJ was a little too lucky, if you ask me. wink

11 page letters do not write themselves. Anyone who writes a letter like that must benefit from it somehow, and GEJ's camp is the only group that benefitted. So they are the prime suspects.
You don't think Iyabo Obasanjo have anything to benefit righthuh

Correct man! Carry Go!

GEJ UNTIL 2019!

GEJ is so Presidential.

A man who was begged to become Vice President instead of Peter Odili or Donald Duke.
OBJ thought he can control the man.
Now, you see why OBJ is cryinghuh

When President YarAdua was sick, Alhaji Kingibe (secretary to the then federal gov't) took over government.
GEJ did not worry.

When President YarAdua continued to be indisposed, the man no shout, the man no worry.
Nigerians begged GEJ to please become the Acting Preisdent and save Nigerian nascent Democracy.

My man, Mr President is currently FULLY incharge but some people (OBJ, FFK, etc) still don't understand the adjective RETIREhuh

The North will get the Presidency, un-opposed, in 2019 and they can keep it for 8 years.
For NOW, GEJ is the Preisident!

taharqa: The budget for 2010 was not laid by Yar'adua, but by d Finance Minister. And Does d President of USA physically present d budget to d US Congress annually?... Anyways, we await d reason for d move by d Presidency...
Thank you!

The Youngman has just refused to do any researches and he is here posting rubbish.

There are many other instances and Like I said before, I spend my time to watch and read them!
If anyone wants to dispute the facts, please, just do your research and stop the nonsense.

The President might want to present the State of The Nation Address on another day, who knows.
The Government have been trying to present their budgets as early as possible so as to have it passed and approved by National Assembly before 1st of January every year.
Politics › Re: Okonjo-Iweala To Present 2014 Budget To National Assembly by gtrust: 3:46pm On Dec 18, 2013
Pukkah: According to Section 81 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, “the President shall cause to be prepared and laid before each House of the National Assembly at any time in each financial year estimates of the revenues and expenditure of the Federation for the next following financial year”.

Do you have something else to say to this?
What you get in the State of the Nation Address is the 'ESTIMATES' of financial revenues and expenditure.
The BUDGET read by the Minister for Finance is the DETAIL right down to the last kobo!

Happyhuh

Symphony007: what a disgrace! I can't belive this. Since 1999. Tell me which minister has ever presented a budget to the national assembly. Also tell mention any country with a presidential system of government where the finance minister or treasury secretary has presented a budget before the legislature. I'm waiting.
Youngman,

It is not my fault that you don't like the figures the minister of finance presents to the national assembly.
I have always watched them.
A little research will solve your ignorance.

The President presents the State of the Nation Address and included in this is 'the estimates' of the budget.
This is usually a big ceremony and massive security.

There is another session where the minster of finance comes to the house to give the details of the budget, ONLY people like me who need these figures and 'knowledge of the direction government wants to take' are interested in this session.
They are also published separately in the Newpapers.

Please, spend your energy to do some research and leave politics for politicians.
I am not sure if you want me to start teaching you how to do research here, but I don't mind doing that.huh

Symphony007: hey mister! This is not a parliamentary system of government. So in your bid to defend this shambolic action you want to challenge a constitutional requirement that the president address a joint session of the national assembly once a year? And who told you that the president appearing before the joint session is just to present a budget? The president also outlines his achievement for the years and what he intends doing the next. As leader of the country his speech will encompass the budget, works, healthcare, education, etc. So by your own twisted knowledge where the finance minister gives the speech, she speaks of only her field and then gives way for the education minister, he finished gives way to the health minister, etc. Such pathetic thinking. Even in the u.k where the chancellor of the exchequer presents the autumn statement, the prime minister still recaps all he has said as leader of the government. So the united states where the president delivers the annual state of the union address is not a civilized country?

Partisanship has made you throw caution to the wind and vomit this abominable comment. It's revolting.
Youngman!
Presentation of the budget if the job of the Minister for Finance in a Presidential system of Government and the Chancellor of the Exchequer in a Paliamentary system.

State of the Nation Address is the Job of the President and ONLY the President!
During the State of the Nation's Address by the President, you get 'hints' of the next National budget!

Go and dust your civics notes right away, run!

Pukkah: 1. A new nomenclature or title was created for her. That title is 'Coordinating Minister for the Economy'.
2. The new title is not supported by the Constitution.
3. On the basis of the new title, some people including yourself have described her as the 'defacto Prime Minister'. A few have even describe her as the 'defacto Vice President' or 'alpha and omega' of the Jonathan administration.
4. She's supposed to 'oversee' some Ministries undecided but which Ministers are being overseen? Is doing more than she did during her first coming as Finance Minister?

Do all these portray President Jonathan in a good light?
The Chancellor of the Exchequer 'oversees' the financial status of ALL departments (ministeries).
That is her job!
You as a minister will develop your programmes and budget them and come and defend them with the ministry of finance and then it goes to the presidency for approval and allocation.

There is due deligence in government, you don't just do things any-how without coordination.
Politics › Re: Okonjo-Iweala To Present 2014 Budget To National Assembly by gtrust: 2:51pm On Dec 18, 2013
Afam4eva: Even though Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is the defacto prime minister of Nigeria, the President should have sent his vice, Namadi Sambo or is his vice also unavailable. Infact, i don't think this is something the president should miss except there's a cogent reason why he'll not be doing the presentation himself.
This is about facts and figures and the ONLY person who can do justice and not waste people's time is the Minister for Finance!

The Prime Minister NEVER presents the budget (go figure) it is the office of the Chancellor of the Exchequer!

If you want 'ceremoney' and people bow-down 3-times sort of thing, then the President only can do that.
But you get no facts and figures and detailed analysis I am hoping to sit-down and analyse the budget as the minister reads...
If it's not the minster, I wait for the published version which come directly from the minister.
Politics › Re: Okonjo-Iweala To Present 2014 Budget To National Assembly by gtrust: 2:36pm On Dec 18, 2013
Symphony007: Why would the president send a minister to present the national budget and address a joint session of the national assembly? Not even the vice president. That's rather insulting and unprecedented. I suggest and senate president and speaker refuse such a request. If the two topmost men in the nation are two busy to do this which is outright impossible. Then they should just send the budget with a letter. A joint session of the national assembly cannot meet to be addressed by a minister.

Politics must not be injected into everything.
In most civilized Nations, the office of minister for finance and headed by the finance mininster ALWAYS presents the budget!
Check it out.
You can even watch United Kingdom budget presentation right now on YouTube!
It is usually a big occasion when you see the minister for finance (chancellor of the exchequer) carrying the 2000 years old small red briefcase and parading it infront of the media before heading to the parliament to read it.

Stop being 'sentimental without facts'!

brabus: We didn't just change. The drawing specified 6". You can take a look at the drawings on the first page once again.
[quote author=segcy.moor]Confused! But this client claim the Architect that produce the drwg, whom stated 6' block is the same guy that quoted for 9' block. brabus: Sir, the ARCON stamped drawing is fraught with lot of errors. The only thing we can do here is to sit down with the client to discuss the challenges and make amends. We have two options here

1. Fill the 6" block with concrete
2. Double the wall

We need to build walls that can resist the lateral (horizontal) forces on the house due to ground shift. It isn't too late to right the wrong.
spyder880: Doubling the block is not an option as the pillar rods are made to fit 6" blocks. Fill with watery concrete.
deking: Lets be frank and help this situation. we don't want to start patching things up at this stage. Someone's children will live in that house tomorrow. in my opinion the architect made a mistake yes but I did expect that Oga Brabus should have picked this and advised the owner before the first block was laid. In my humble opinion, when it Comes to foundations, the best way is the right way.

Kindly take a reverse gear swallow the humble pie and do the right thing. afterall the architect quoted for 9 inches why use 6.

This no doubt will come at some cost but it is better than ending up with a collapsed building. So for me option 1. Rebuild the foundation using the right specs.

option 2. leave the building as a bungalow.

I stand to be corrected.
