HudsonBanks: Reporting Live from Hamad International! Got here 2 hours agogrin Na God go punish all our Nigerian Airlines oo with their piss poor service I swear. My flight was super smooth with 5 star service I repeat 5 star service!! Chai!

Planned to go to their Oryx Lounge but the airport itself na lounge with fast working free wifi and all, so no need to blow $40 on the Oryx Lounge any more.

I almost missed my flight today oo and even carried a little bit of excess luggage (Carried two bags, one na 85% Indomie grin cheesy) but talking nice and smiling wink to the fine lady at their check in desk allowed me get away with being late and paying for excess luggage.

Arriving London in the morning. God bless us all here and allow us achieve fantastic grades in our post grad endeavors, Amen!
I read you enjoyed the trip. did you include the oryx lounge in your booking or is it there usual services? How long will it take on your stop-over? Pardon me for my many jamb questions.

goldendraco: Thanks.
smiley, good to know we are together. I have been disturbing her too (my course coordinator), but she is insisting on the ten working days thing. I pray it works out and we make it.
What date did you pick as the intended travel date. Are you staying in the Uni accommodation.
I chose 29th sept. I'ii stay off campus.

goldendraco: Yes, am submitting in ikeja on Tuesday. I pray so, thinking of calling my course department tomorrow to see if they can extend the last resumption date. Am going to university of strathclyde, MSc Advanced Computer Science. And you which school
We are together brother, strathclyde too, subsea engineering. There is no worry, you will make it. I have also disturbed the admission office on this issue, the woman replied that UKIV is aware of the date. You can still call your course coordinator or admissions-science office. She. only insisted that if I cannot make it on the 10th Oct I should let her know, so that she can give me a written note.

At Ikeja, Interview questions was:
What is your name
your date of birth
your nationality
your course
why you chose the institution and the course
when is your school resuming
why you chose uk
your future plans
do you understand all the questions asked

goldendraco: Hello everyone, please I need your advise. am submitting my application on the 23rd of September, and my school resumes on the 26th of September. I was told I have 10 working days to resume after the school start date. But the problem is my visa processing time is not up to 15 working days, it's shorting two days. What can I do about it as I don't want to be refused based on that.
My school will also resume on 26th of september, though, I have submitted on friday at ikeja. My last date for my course is 10th of Oct. which is also 10 working days. As based on my calculation, by 29th of sept you should know the outcome of the visa and on/before 3rd of oct you should have your visa. If you are sumbitting at ikeja, it is possible to meet up the last date of acceptance for your course. please, which school are you going? I guess, we have similarity.

santhu123: Guys I have a question.

What will they ask during immigration check in the airport.

I know I have to show my passport and study documents. Do they ask for updated bank statements and proof of fund ? The money is in the bank but all I have now is my bank statement which I submitted with my visa dated aug 13. Is that okay or I have to provide them a new statement ?
Don't forget your medical report and vital docs which should be in your hand bag. Nothing is much at the airport, just be yourself, all will be fine.

Olutola88: If you read my post well, you will see that I said this piece is mainly for those that do not have solid network. At the same time, a 2.1 or 1st class can guarantee you a job offer in a good company even without knowing anyone there. I also gave examples of my friends that got job offers even before the end of NYSC strictly on merit. One of them got the offer 3 weeks ago and the other got it 5 days ago
It seems guys are using biased mind writing, not saliently reading your comment. Everything you said is what the newest students on campus should note. It is better to prevent than to cure. It is only in this our world that age and class are preeminence tools to getting a job. On a neutral platform, 2.2 should be given a chance to thrive in the pursuit of job hunting.

Yes, if you have a copy as to trace your application. You may be asked to pay a token.

muhddeen3: URGENT PLEASE!!!!

This thread has been most helpful to me, I check in here for almost every small detail of info I need.
Please I have a unique issue and I honestly don't know how to go about it.
I collected my tb certificate on friday 5 sept from the abuja office and my visa interview is 9am on monday 8 September. I checked everywhere but still can't find my certificate. This happens to me all the time. I'll keep things and they'll get lost and I'll never ever see them again no matter how I check. Please I need advice on how to obtain another certificate before my interview on monday. Luckily enough I've made two photocopies of the certificate. Thank you and God bless.
You mean tb cert. I think, you can get another one with a little token, try and call IOM office, if there is alternative.
You need prayer too.

MissMeiya: Just getting by is not good enough. The internet has revolutionized the education field everywhere else and smashed down doors for people who couldn't have access to information and knowledge before. And yet, just look at the front page of Nairaland. There's a dinosaur post on the front page and the comments are the stupidest things I've ever seen. "Where are the photos?" "Dinosaurs are oyinbo lies" Read comments like those then come and look at these test scores again. So many times you see people arguing stupidly because they cannot open a simple window to google the answer to a question.

If Nigeria is content to point the finger at social media, it will just fall further and further behind the rest of the world.

In undergrad, I had TWO courses that utilized Twitter in their curriculums. Ivy League. The minds behind the world's technology giants didn't have their phones taken away because they were a distraction.

I wrote my first computer program when I was 9, because my mother bought me a laptop toy with educational games. I have a young cousin whom I adore because she is a bookworm like me, and I bought her an electronic reader. She has a stellar vocabulary at 14 years old.

Technology is far from the problem in Nigeria's education system. There's barely enough of it.
You are right. I was trying to correct one of the commentors here on issues like this shouldnt be tribalised. It is national issues on our education. I understand that social networking is no a problem to the failure but rather failure to balance social networking and school curriculum.. I have also seen where parents are encouraging exams malpractice. These are just too many to say.
