4. African Star Apple Try searching for African star apple on Google and watch the search engine struggle to come up with results. But search for “Agbalumo” and watch Google turn to superstar with numerous results. This is because Nigerians know this fruit as Agbalumo in south west, cherry in warri and udala in south east and not as the African Star Apple.

3. Tiger Nuts The name “Tiger nut” is yet to stick to this sweet root from Northern Nigeria. Tiger nut is called its traditional name in various parts of the country; Ofio in the Southwest, Aki Hausa in the Southeast and Aya in the North.

2. Black Velvet Tamarind To undertake a fruitless (in both senses) market search, you only have to keep asking for “black velvet tamarind”. If you’re interested in enjoying the sweet-tart goodness of this fruit, please forget your “shakara” and call it “lickie lickie” like everyone else.

Many a time, I’ve paid tribute to the inherent creativity and ingenuity of Nigerians. Nigerians are so creative that rather than find out the English names of certain fruits, they have either stuck with the traditional name or invented a new name for said fruit. Here are common examples:
1. Tropical Almonds The tropical almond can be found in many parts of Southern Nigeria. But Nigerians definitely don’t bother calling it tropical almond. This delicious fruit is referred to as “fruit”.

Jadekitana: Can you imagine? Every disappointment is indeed a blessing. While I was seriously sad about my Boss sending me on a yeye official errand I never knew I was gonna meet a very intelligent nairalander
I got to the firm and was told to wait at the reception that their Almighty boss was in a meeting with someone. I was there for over an hour and was getting really impatient when this tall handsome guy walked in. Think he came to Audit the firm cos the receptionist called him Auditor. He went to drop his bag and came back to gist with the ladies,he was very jovial.
After sometime he turned to my direction and was like "that frown isn't good at all" put a smile on your face, its too early in the day to be frowning like that. I didn't know when I shouted i'v been waiting here,i'm tired already. The next thing I heard was "Endtime tiredness" I was trying to recollect were I'v read that phrase then I remembered twas Nairaland. I became interested in the fellow instantly! No need beating around,i asked if he was a nairaland member,he said he's a guest but I didn't believe him. I suspect he's Thesonofmark though he had beards, full beards.
We gisted about the forum, romanceland especially! He said he doesn't visit romanceland, he only checks career, autos, celebrity and pet because of his dogs. The guy was neat, cute, jovial very very intelligent as we talked about auditing which I plan on getting a professional qualification in. I didn't release my contact because I suspect he's a popular guy here but doesn't wanna disclose that.
If you know you the Auditor I met this morning @ prince Amadi's firm in Oniru, I know you would see this either as a guest or member I don't care, you better be sincere so we can be friends. I still need to learn a lot about auditing from you and a lot of other things pm me! We can still meet at BLD on admiralty way, lunch is on me! This should be in the literature section. Seriously? You get mouth here but you no get mouth for real life? Lemme guess, he's gonna make his claim with a proof of ownership? #smh |

I've seen the islands but it only just occurred to me. The two States are divided by the River Niger. So, whose do those islands belong to indeed? Since, asaba and Onitsha are both Igbo speaking there wont be much problem. Before States were formed, people had always owned lands. Their land might not have a state but it does have an owner. |

Java is a computer programming language and not an OS. The Android OS itself is based on Java programming language. You're welcome. |

NobleAngell: No excuse for immorality but also both parties should bare the punishment. She didn't get herself preggy. And asking her to put on a black wedding dress is craaaaaayyyyyzi. The reason they wear white is not because they just like the colour. It's significant. It stands for virginity of the woman. Now, the man's Virginity is not celebrated And can't even be verified. That's y he wears black suit. Ever see men complain? You can't come to the house of God to deceive people that you're still a virgin. You no be virgin so forget virgin gown and wear non-virgin gown. Christianity Etc › The Mistake Of Venial Sin by guyXander(op): 11:57am On Feb 28, 2016 |
The mistake of venial sin. Mistaken as a not a sin at all. Just because your heart is blooded, doesn't mean the law of God has changed. Venial sin: Any sin that was not committed willfully. Sin that doesn't kill the soul. After fully explaining venial sin to a friend, he said of it, "we are doomed oh". "I'm struggling to keep from mortal sin and here is a type of sin I never thought was sin at all. This heaven sef, person fit make am?" And I was like, let me help with that. It's easy to sin because you hold on to Satan and his life style. Hold on to God and it will be that easy to say, "I can make it". The only problem as you climb on the ladder of holiness is that, the work you'll to do increases as you go up the ladder. Which with God's grace in time ceases to be a problem. Purgatory is only reserved for the people you call holy, I said. Meaning, those without mortal sin but with venial sin. Venial can be explained as , for example: Someone of opposite sex walks passed you half naked. You stare at him/her, at some point your guardian Angel nugdes you and corrects you, then you chose to look away, you have chose willfully not to commit a mortal sin but a venial sin. For the image of him/her remains and helps its way to become a temptation. So ultimately, what the naked guy/girl couldn't do in person, his/her image did it later. Mortal sins leave a scar, that even after a confession, you need to gain indulgences to wipe them away. Restitution: A particular man sold a CD plate to a sister at a prayer ground. Now the sister forgot to collect the CD plate. Later the man died and went to purgatory. He was given the grace to appear to a friend in a dream. Who later went in search of the sister who paid for the CD plate. When he found her, she shed tears. Later that night he appeared to the friend thanking him. "The sin of the flesh makes war on us all. The greatest of them all have been it's victim." The grace of God and our willingness to accept God grace will win us salvation. Benedicamus dominus! izken: This story is just an analogy.
A woman in a village inherited a gold grinding stone from her mother. The gold grinding stone had no use to her other than to grind pepper, tomatoes and other cooking items. She liked it because it was different from everyone else’s.
One day a white man came to this remote village and saw this woman grinding tomatoes with her gold grinding stone she inherited and sweating as when one grinds pepper with a grinding stone. In exchange for her gold grinding stone, the white man gave the woman a blender and an electricity generator.
The woman was very happy as she now grinds more tomatoes quicker in a less stressful manner. Moreover, she alone had such a grinder.
Was the white man a kind man, a business man or an exploiter? Are you even asking?

Christianity Etc › Re: Is Purgatory In The Bible? by guyXander(m): 8:55pm On Feb 22, 2016 |
dhardline: Romans 6 verse 6 and 12: knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him,that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be SLAVES to sin.
12:Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
I highlighted the word 'slave' .once you are saved you no longer sin knowingly, you think over your
actions and words carefully, you do not allow sin reign in you or have control over you.You do what
ever it takes to avoid it in thoughts, word and deed. You don't pick the ones to do and the ones not
to do and then give excuses to yourself.but when you sin unknowingly the Lord will reveal it to you
and you repent of the sin, this way you continue in growth hidden in the righteousness of Christ
until death.Christianity is by experience not head knowledge and the Holy spirit guides us thru
this experience.Let me give you a list of sin we commonly ignore as written by Basilea Schlink.

50. WORRYING Not that anything you said here is wrong but we'll have a longer talk for me to explain purgatory to you. You seem to understand it from an angle you are yet to believe. I usually don't like arguing about Christian thoughts. But understand this, purgatory is not as simply put as many people would tell you. In fact, many Christian are ill informed about purgatory. You talked about committing SIN KNOWINGLY, so that means you can commit SIN UNKNOWINGLY. Which means, there are two types. But I'm telling you: "nothing defiled shall enter even heaven yet so by fire". Even if you commit sin unknowingly, you cannot enter heaven in that state. And that's where purgatory comes in. |
