95% of the whites here don't go to church,only Nigerians and a few blacks do. 90% of young people between the age of 12 to 21 are not religious at all(including the ones from muslim homes. The religious ones are Africans. None of my friends are religious. I only discuss religion on nairaland,my beloved thread

That is the difference. Years back in my college,a teacher is not supposed to tell us what to think but how to think. We(the students) were given the go ahead to write our projects rather than the teacher do it for us. If a teacher comes into the class to tell us there is a god,he/she will be fired. Everything I say on Nairaland are my research,not what I was taught or brainwashed with. If that was the case in Nigeria,there will be 70% less religious people. If my son tells me the teachers said there is jesus,I'm reporting the person immediately. If my son becomes religious on his own,that's fine.

Look at your religion for example. You are being told what to believe and what to think,not how to think.

Well, I don't know where he got the bible verse from. The bible I know and which is the New King James version and the most authoritative, says " I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity. "

Calimity in this context, is an event that causes great harm and suffering. And such events of suffering is for God's purpose to mold us to what He wants us to be.

Without the darkness, the stars can never shine. The children of God are the stars while the darkness is the suffering which only makes us stronger.

I really wish things worked that way, but alas it doesn't. . prayers are profound wishes and wishes are not horses.

Look around the world, even if prayer manages to create a God then that God still is incompetent and inefficient at it's task delivery.

Cus even though billions of humans pray daily with hopeful hearts to the heavens - children are still dying in their millions daily, famine, hunger, earth quakes still kill many, people still die in churches and mosques, the world is still bleeding and weeping, i hope such a god that supposedly should hear all these prayers has a reasonable excuse for these unfortunate happenings.

Even if prayers manages to create a god or gods it also affirms the position that God(s) are our creations not the other way round.
