FamilyRe: When Is The Right Time To Get Married? by HamidO1(m): 9:42pm On Dec 21, 2010
scorpion1:
A lot has been said. Dont let anyone deceive you, age and maturity of the mind is critical. Marrying isnt the koko, staying married is the main koko. Just know that more than anything, marriage isnt for boys, but for men. If your still a boy, dont touch it. Fiiiiiiile. You must also be ready to have your blood pressure go up often, if you can manage that, then your ready.

If your marrying a Nigerian woman, i am not insinuating its a rule, but in most cases i have heard of, just be ready to carry the responsibilities of the woman, her mother and great grand mother, you will buy mobile phones, buy car sef, and send monthly allowances to wife's family members etc otherwise, they will eventually say you are not a good man and that you are stingy. Na so i see am as the thing dey happen for naija. I tire.
Best believe, Marrying is not the koko, staying married is the main koko.

CareerRe: University Degree Only For Gaining Self Confidence by HamidO1(m): 12:13pm On Dec 14, 2010
usetime:
it seems like not for the money but for the holders ego sake.
that a university degree is useful.
it cost say 5 or 6 years but at the end , the bsc /ba graduate
has more self esteem that the secondary school student.
and with M.A ,phD the self esteem goes higher - though the pocket
depth may not correspond.
and people correspondingly , in their mind, consider non university
graduates to be half human. as if theyr retards, that's why
they seem suprised when the "dimwits" do sth. exceptionally well
they say "he isnt even a unversity graduate"
  meaning - he's a not-so-smart person yet he's so smart - this is
the exception - only university graduates aught to be as smart, rich,
successful as he/she is  - the sheep - whose brain is one quarter alive.
infact is seems like an injustice - they won't say it loud - that
non university trained people should be successful !!!
like success is the exclusive domain of the paper holders.
I'll disagree with  you completely on this. Having a degree goes beyond just gaining more self esteem, it comes with some specialized skills especially in science based courses. Mind you there are some skills that are believed to only be taught in the university example is structural engineering, no matter the number of years an uneducated builder spends in the business he can't put up an high-rise building without some complex calculations which can only be learnt in the four walls of a classroom. Tell me if such skills can be classified as self esteem? That doesn't mean an uneducated person can't  be richer, been rich is a different thing entirely.

We wish his family, his colleagues and club the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

This is just pure carelessness and it is very saddening. I hope INEC would learn from this error to avoid unnecessary negative public image.

PoliticsRe: IBB Is Confused, Says Jonathan by HamidO1(m): 2:19pm On Dec 09, 2010
I'll rather you say PDP is confused, they want to make sure GEJ remains the presidential candidate and at the same time keep the party together. I hope PDP ends up a died party after the primaries. IBB on his own part seems to be having mental disorder.

Deep Soul:
Na wa! In as much as there's a serious security lapse in the country, let's not blame this on security. Atleast not entirely.

Firstly, Im sure those who were given the contract for the machines, inflated the cost as is the norm. That's Strike 1.
Now, after inflating the cost, they have decided to claim their possession. They have most likely "settled" all those so-called airport security officials.

I'm wondering what the main aim for this theft is.

Is it to:

a) Resell the machines?
b) Capture their own data directly? (another form of rigging)
c) Sabotage efforts being made to have a free and fair election so as to have a smoother rigging process
d) "Expose" the ineffectiveness of the Jonathan administration??

Whatever the reasons, this has further increased my pessimism about the development of Nigeria. Just when I thought I had reached the height of pessimism, it gets worse!  sad
The main reason will be facilitate smoother rigging in 2011, we all know the party that rigs most. I won't be surprised if PDP is behind this.

The first time he came, you assisted, 2nd time same, why didn't you say no the 3rd time. Try saying no and stand by your no to see what his reaction is going to be, that might give you an insight.
PoliticsRe: Did Anyone See Sanusi & Aganga On Tv Answering Furious Senators? by HamidO1(m): 10:44am On Dec 03, 2010
I've been looking at Rossike's arguments and wondering why you'll blame people for condemning the National Assembly members. If 25% of the total budget goes to them for making laws, what then is left for the executive arm who is suppose to implement such laws. Don't forget implementation involves more logistics. If you leave in Nigeria and see how some of these politicians throw money around, then you'll know there's something wrong.

Just look at this breakdown

Total population - 140,000,000

2010 proposed budget - N4.079trillion Source http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/budget_update/UMY%20-%202010%20BUDGET%20PRESENTATION%20SPEECH.pdf

25% of the budget -  1.01975trillion

Imagine less than 0.00000000000000000001% of the total population of this country taking 25% of the budget, How will you describe thathuh?

@Rossike, Nigerians have every right to be angry and no matter the word used to describe the National assembly members, I really think they deserve it. They are milking us dry, no development can ever happen in such situation where the cost of running a government is higher than cost of taking care of the people.

The English bid team had strong names like David Beckham, Prince Williams and even the Prime minister David Cameron in their team. The Russians are going to host their first Football world cup in 2018.
In a related development Qatar has won the right to host the 2022 world cup.

ROSSIKE:
na so said:

Not at all. It is ALL connected. What I wrote here is a FACT.  You would be blind or dumb to argue that the senators and reps ''do nothing''. How many of these loudmouths follow National Assembly sessions? How many actually know, or care what those reps discuss and do every day in the house? You just sit in your parlour making these lazy, generalised assumptions, insulting your way through all of them, and expect everyone here to just fall in line? Sorry but we're not all some dumb, mob followership here. At least not all of us.

Some of us understand that a country gets the leaders it deserves. The senators are by no means saints. But neither are WE.

They do SOME good work, since, as Nigerians, we generally don't just do nothing when put in a position to act. But they are also into making good money, since as Nigerians, we see such appointments as a means to get rich.

So the senators and reps are just being NIGERIAN. Their level of professionalism or otherwise, and morality is commensurate with the societal average or norm in Nigeria.

Noisemakers here are merely HYPOCRITES who come here to pretend that they're from a country whose people frown on corruption and other vices, but who just so happen to be cursed with crooked leaders, AND THAT'S A DELUSION I AM NOT PREPARED TO ENTERTAIN.

Until WE, ie the average Nigerians, STOP seeing public service as a route to quick wealth, until we ALL rid ourselves of that mentality that says we have ''arrived'' once we get a phone call stating we've been appointed, we will keep producing politicians who reflect our thinking. And we will continue to look stuppid when, rather than fix ourselves, we constantly attack our shadows (sorry, ''our leaders'').

TALK ABOUT CHASING SHADOWS.
You really insane for some words you used to describe people on NL, I wish you were watching the house of rep sitting live on NTA now.
The sitting is suppose to start by 10:00AM, it started around 11:30AM
I'm watching the sitting of the House of Representatives live on NTA right now and this people are really mocking themselves. The house sent an invitation to the CBN governor to appear before it today at plenary, after the Sergent at arm admitted to the members that the CBN governor has been in the National Assembly complex since 9:45AM. The members failed to admit him to the floor of the house referring the matter to one of the committees.
We all watched them on Tuesday saying he should come and face us, he should come and tell us where he got his facts from. All of a sudden they don't want to listen to him again. This people deserved to be hanged. COWARDS
How now will describe such an actionhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuh Are you trying to tell us things should continue the way they arehuhhuhhuhhuh

Rubbish talk. There's no way, they expect a man to have built a company from the scratch and just move on, It's not done.

What the silly CBN should watch is simply that they get the job done, all this stories about former MD are just a waste of time, Has OBASANJO really left the seat of power?,
What do you mean it's not donehuh? If all shareholders at an AGM vote someone to anchor the day to day business of the bank, and you as a major shareholder or ex-MD feels you not done executing your ideas, then you should seek re-election or an extension of your tenure instead of interfering with the new MD's job. The CBN's job is to protect the interest of the customers and all other shareholders not just that of the ex-MD or major shareholder. This is the same thing Ibru family did to ruin Oceanic bank.
