Calderon is just an old fool and i feelvery sorryfor Madrid fans.I can never wish for a guy tha blows hot and cold as my club president. he is just an unstable old fella who needs to be sent to old people's home.

he is talking as if Manchester United needs the transfer to make headlines or to make history. Manchester United is not Lyon,Tween FC, PSV tat needs such transfer to feel great. Manchester United was great, Manchester United is great and Manchester United will continually be great.the top three playas that i know never wore the white of the merengues --- george best, maradona and pele.

the last time i watched Champions League, a second class UCL club in the name of Roma pauperised the so called Real home and away. What a shameless big team they are.But it was the Great Manchester United that got the respect of 1st class UCL clubs back.

Wan United
Calderon is a poof. . . . .
The thang is, these twats boast so much during the elections to bring every good player to Madrid.
He is only trying to fulfill his promises.
Unfortunately, Madrid can't afford him.

They need him to sell shirts and to have boasting rights. . . . . .all that talk about letting Ronny realize his dream is just trash because they don't really give a damn about Ronny or his dream. Its all about Real Madrid.

Ok,let's say they really really want the boi. Can't they at least wait till his contract expires? That would be a more respectful thing to do.The world doesn't exist for Real Madrid.
Ronnie is the geezer with the loud-ass mouth!!
He needs to be more tactful about the way he conducts himself with the media. . . . .
Granted, his childhood dream was to play for Madrid one day. . . . but he should have gone about it in a more professional manner.

Truth is, Madrid cannot even cough out 70 million for Ronaldo.
They don't have that kinda money. . . . . The last time they went bonkers over a player(Zidane). . .They nearly went bankrupt.
Bank Of Madrid had to come to their aid. . . . . It ain't gonna happen this time for them.
They need Ronnie to run anutha year out on his contract to bring the fees down considerably.

Someone should please sew up Calderon's mouth. Yesterday he was going to hands-off Ronaldo ; 24 hours later hez saying United should be pleased Real Madrid is interested in Ronaldo and let him go.What are his problems? angry

Truly,this soccer biz is turning into something else.Mercenary players,messed up gaffers,disrespectful clubs,zero loyalty.Hmm.
Madrid think they can bully Man Utd like they have been doing in the past. . . .Wrong timing!!!
Not after Fergie has just won the UCL. . . . . Spanish teams are relatively weak now compared to English clubs.
There's no guarantee Madrid would win UCL next season so whatz the point. . . .They only need Ronaldo to sell shirts.
Wenger's admission is scary why don't those board members just sell to the highest bidder and get it over with is this his excuse for signing mediocre players? i am really miffed by this i really am
You cannot really blame Wenger.
Arsenal have been hurt by the credit crunch which has set their financial plans back of paying of the debt at Highbury Square by 2010.
This credit crunch has led to some of their falts at Highbury square being gazumped.

Gaynners still want the club to remain as a British-owned operation, but they are a bit old fashioned and naive when it comes to the financial reality of 21st century football. Le Arse is still very good friends with David Dein and it's hardly a secret that Dein is working for billionaire Uzbeki businessman Alisher Usmanov in his efforts to buy Arsenal Football Club.

On the issue of a billionaire, if AW is to be believed, he doesn't believe we need one - he keeps saying footie should be able to pay for itself and not rely on external funding. . . unless his views have changed. Uzbek buying Arsenal may not really help things either - if he wants a profit (as he signalled by wanting to collect dividends at the last AGM) then we will be in more trouble - a rich owner who can afford to let the club fail and still earn money since we are just a plaything.
Wenger's views may have changed as his main rivals keep getting stronger and stronger.
Besides, player contracts are now non-existent as BIG clubs can come in and flirt with Arsenal players as we have seen in Ade's case.
All Arsenal need now is to sell to Uzbek who would wipe off all the debt. . . . . .

Bring in Mr Usmanov to put this pathetic Arsenal board out of their misery and make Arsenal are a force again.
Arsenal is the most expensive club in the world to watch footie(94 pounds per seat). shocked shocked shocked
Cheating the fans like this can't go on otherwise they will be playing in front of a half empty Emirates which is even worse and would lead to a financial disaster. tongue tongue

@ Debosky,

I agree with u.

The statement is suicidal.
Other clubs in Europe would swoop on your players and your negotiation powers would be weakened because of this admission.
What would stop Madrid or Barcelona coming for Cesc Fabregas next season?? cheesy grin

I think what Wenger is trying to say indirectly is the club might benefit more from a billionaire taking over from Arsenal.
There's no way Arsenal won't be able to cop 24 million pounds surplus every year based on TV rights and gate receipts, meaning that player sales should not even enter the equation.

However, Arsene's words also plant the seed that the Gaynners could be a team in transition for the next couple of decades because of the financial burden of building Emirates Stadium, unless new investment comes in that would wipe that debt out.
Is this Wenger n David Dein working together to bring the Uzbek Billionaire to buy Arsenal?? shocked shocked shocked shocked

Is Arsenal now a selling club? undecided

It would seem so now, given AW's words to NOTW

The strategy of the club is to sell every year and to buy less expensive players. We manage at Arsenal to maintain all our football ambitions — national and European —while having to free up - for 17 more years - an annual surplus of £24m to pay for our stadium. The club’s strategy is to favour the policy of youngsters ahead of stars and to count on the collective quality of our game.

This is our 'strategy'huh!!! shocked shocked undecided

If it is, Arsenal is doomed to simply remain one of the top 4 for the foreseeable future, unless we win a title my mistake. sad

This is one time I wished Arsenal actually did comment on some speculation instead of maintaining this total silence. How on earth will we need to cough up 24m every year for 17 YEARShuh What happened to footie being differently run from the other aspects of the business? What happened to the highbury development paying for the loan? undecided

Most importantly - has moving to a new stadium actually helped Arsenal or worsened our case? Are we really benefitting 'footballistically' from this move? Or was David Dein right all along when he said we should lease/loan Wembley for our games instead of building a stadium? undecided

I am not saying the words quoted are completely true, but our recent behaviour shows it is likely not far off the markis there any real trophy winning potential ahead if this selling system is a deliberate policy?? WIll we ever be able to keep star players for more than 2 seasons?

Not the best way to start a new week. sad
Debosky, don't be disappointed. . . .
Lord knows i have been drumming this into your ears for the past 12 months.
The 70 million pounds we heard about last summer was a facade to keep the fans mute. . . . . .
Kroenke n his goons have succeeded in the last 2 years to pull a wool over y'all eyes.
Trust me, the situation in Arsenal is worse than Man Utd despite our huge debt. cool

@ Akolawole,

Don't ever doubt me about corporate accounts!!!
Arsenal is living dangerously. . . . .they need to win something ASAP(UCL or EPL).

Why Do Nigerians Wait For God To Do Everything?

Nigerians wait for God to do everything because of the huge abundance of natural resources.
Rivers, Trees, Good Soil, Plenty of Sunshine, Rain and reh reh reh. . . .
All these things have genetically indoctrinated us to believe everything we want must come from God.
If we had worked for most of these things by ourselves. . . . .we would have had a better assessment of the task at hand.

A farmer goes to his farm and spray corn seeds. . . . .in 3 days, it starts to germinate effortlessly. . . Its too divine.
Let a farmer try that in Iraq or Kiev and letz see if they output would be the same.
Right from the onset, whitemen knew they had to work for everything to survive. No free for all like we Africans.
This got em in a right frame of mind to WORK rather than wait for a god of thunder to make things work for em.
