Politics › Re: Punch Cameraman Slapped For Obeying Traffic Light by hardbody: 9:19am On Oct 02, 2013
Me i usually beat the traffic light in the early hours when i am going to work. That is so even when the OP MESSA guys are behind me (especially around Alausa Secretariat at Ikeja), they never gave me a hot chase. However, this morning, while i was approaching the crossing and noticing the red light already on, i tried to manouvre by the side and move up in front and i suddenly realized that the van in front was a police van 'obeying the stop sign', i 'respectfully' stopped for a while and then being impatient, i reversed out of that corner and took the turn to my right and got out after the House of Assembly complex.

I have learnt to play this things by the ear, if i am ahead of the pack in the morning, i break all the rules, if i am behind, i respect myself when others stop. We have learnt to survive here and we are coping so very well that these 'been to' people around us will find it difficult to ever get used to driving around here anymore.

Romeo386: angry angry I am beginning to hate this jornathan with passion. Jornathan is incapable to rule this country. Some people said that Nigeria is too big for jornathan to rule it, i doubted them but now i believe them. Tell me what goes right since jornathan became the president of Nigeria, tell me the achievements of his government. Now judging by what is happening now, if eventually he become the president again by 2015, what do you think will happen to this country? Jornathan has tor
Nigeria into pieces. I voted him into power because i was sentimental - because he is xtian and now i regretted it. Believe me if anyone loves jornathan now, that person is just sentimental, its either because he is a xtian or because he is from the south (south-south). I regretted casting my vote for jornathan. Boko haram are there killing innocent people, ASUU is on strike and now he is trying to sale PHCN while he cant even pay their entittlements? He is even forcefully collecting PHCN from the workers? If care is not taken what hpened to my good president (Yar'adua) will also happen to this man.

maninmood: Imagine how beautiful a country whose economy is solely dependent on seaport is. It seems it's fairly competing with Nigeria whose wealth and income thrive on oil and many other resources. I learnt there has never been, in Togo, a recorded power outage in the past few years. Let's see what PHCN privatisation will bring forth.
They just showed you some of their most exciting landmarks. A little down the road you will start seeing shanties and all. I have driven through that town called Lome severally and honestly, they have nothing in comparison to Nigeria. We are still the giant of Africa, anyday any time. Amitted, we do not crack down on immigrants the way oters do, its partly because of the thinking of our leaders and partly because of our size. No. Do not ask me how large the US or UK is, this is Nigeria and in Africa.

ayobase: The state of California's minimum wage of $10 (N1,500) per hour to start by 2016. It seems it is about $8 (N1,200)at the moment.

A US citizen that works 10 hrs daily for 20 days gets approximately N300,000 ($2,000) per month!

Nigeria's is N18,500 ($123) per month. Meaning N92 ($0.6) per hour pay.

Why won't people wanna run go greener pasture.

#Im just saying ni o#

http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2013/9/12/bill-set-to-raisecaliforniaminimumwageto10.html
Very myopic analysis.

How much do you think corporate organisations pay in Nigeria depending on your level ?

What is the tax implication of what you earn in both worlds?

What are the financial liabilities to the earner as is being compared?

What guarantee is there that the jobs are all over the place for the taking, irrespective of where you are?

Nothing wrong in wanting to elope or jump ship to the US, UK or wherever in double hell anyone wants to go to, however, i ask, why are some Tokunbos coming back to Nigeria to take up employment, are those mega hourly pays not available to them?

Have you noticed that Nigerians spend more than the westerners when they come over to your world? Where do you think the money is coming from and please note, the huge spenders are not all politicians.

How about you find something meaningful to analyse than raise issues with no substance. If you have fun living in the western world, enjoy it, i know people that will not leave their well paid employment in this country to come pick up your mega hourly pay (yours sincerely inclusive).

When i need to holiday abroad, i will, when i need to work to make the money, i do it here, capic??
Nairaland General › Re: Letter To The Future(yr 2,999) Drop your 'I Was Here' msgs to the Future NLndrs by hardbody: 5:15pm On Sep 11, 2013
SpicyMimi: Dear Future Nairalanders,

How'r you? How is the weather suituation in Nigeria? Stil predictable? Never was anyway.
How is Nigeria now?
During the early 2000s', Nigeria was in a complete mess! We had terrorists like 'Boko Haram'' led by a Man called SHEKAU. They were behind the causes of so many damages in Nigeria. They burnt houses, schools, churches, and sometimes Mosques. President Johnathan was the ruling president and i think he really tried his best, cause he ws/is just a human like us, though i wont list him as one of the best Presidents.
So how is the state of the country now? Am sure Boko Haram no longer exists. smiley

what about thr Power supply suituation? Do you enjoy 24/7 electricity now?
Electricity has always been a constant problem and issue in Nigeria, its so devastating and really frustrating, we hope things are better now...and hope darkness is no longer part of Nigeria's problems.

How are your schools like? Do you still write WAEC? And the so-called JAMB?
Your teachers are they well qualified? Or just lazying around gossipn like they used to? I hope things are better now! And i hope no one sits at home for years before getting admission into his or her school of choice.

The churches and Mosques? Do they still preach about Salvation? Or is it about wealth and things of the world?
During this time of ours, people really ve forgotten their goals in the church, it has all been diverted to the riches and wealth of this world....just few still stand on their goals.
I hope indecent clothes aint allowed in churches ? It was allowed in some churches here bt i hope it has reduced.

How is the civilisation there? In terms of good roads, clothes, phones, houses, food, tradition etc
Do you still use BlackBerry? Iphone? Android? Nokia?
These wr the trending phones then.

Do guys still were skinny jeans? Likewise the girls? Is colour riot or locking stil acceptable?
What kind of shoe is trending now? Too bad we cant get anwers to this.

Love existed partially here....som blivd in it while some didnt, how is it now? Do love still exist or has it been completely wiped off? Please if it has, revive it back cause Love is a beautiful thing.

What music is trending now? Who are the best musicians and actresses now? 2face, Psquare, Dbanj; wizkid, Tiwa savage, Asa, MayD, Davido, Banky W, Wande, Kcee, and so many of them were hot here...
And the best songs trending for now- Kcee-limpopo and Davido-Gobe....i hope you dont find these songs annoying and absurd.

How is Nollywood? Still in existence? Have they improved from love and romance movies to something more creative and sensible? Have they stopped the habbit of wearing skimpy skirts and shorts? Or is it now unimmaginable?

How is Nairaland? Has it been sold by now? Or has Seun's generations taken over? Do you find Nairaland interesting like we all do here? What about the Mods? Are they strict and nice?
We have a popular Mod here, his name...Sexkills' he is/was the most popular, strict and most hated. He fell in love twice on Nairaland with two Mods-1.Ijebabe and the 2. Ogugua..i hope they ended up together. Do you have anyone like that now?

We have another popular mod- Mukina. We dont know if Mukina is a she or a he, but frm my research she or he ws d most strict of all! S/he could ban u for life out of Nairaland, and one thing about Mukina is that, you hardly see his or her comment on threads, except for links and closing threads.

Who is the most beautiful and the most handsome? We got so many beauties nd cute guys here sure u got the best of them.

My advice: dont sell your love for sex and sex for love, sell your Love for Love.
Stay out of trouble as much as you can and most importantly give or surrender your lives to Christ as He is the only way.

Have a nice and great time in your well civilised world.
Eyahh, it must be stone cold in the deep (6 feet) where you are writing from. The next dead man arriving will update you. Keep hopes alive..

REALITY101: Lol this una 1,000 Naira bill hahha. Just yesterday I was checking out some stuff on my little girls backpack and I saw about 13pcs of the 1,000 naira bill I was surprised then I asked her she "uncle Franky gave it to me in Nigeria and I told you" lol

So along the conversation she asked me how much is this I told her the total is 13k she was like coool can I buy a car with it? I laughed so hard at this 6yr old trying to own a real car already and then explain to her that 1m pieces of that can not buy the kind of car I know she will love to ride on.

Now end of our conversation and what she said " why they say its 1000 when the value is less than a thousand"

Yea I was just about to tell her this money is best for whipping butt. Very ugly too

obitwo: Just imagine what kind of Police Lagos would have if we had state police

Eko o ni baje

Ile Oduduwa o ni baje
Just in case you do not get the point let me tell you how it will be.

Flashback to the LASTMA touts grappling with drivers and settling scores with fists.

Then fast forward to Policemen uniformed and given guns with tax payers money (my tax rate is 15.5% and can pay some people's salary especially if you are on N1.2m pa), they are basically illiterates, weed smokers and mostly irrational and to a large extent Yorubas.

Imagine the civility you will expect to receive (especially if you neither speak nor understand Yoruba Yoruba), compound that with the number of deliberate accidental discharges (guns in place of fisticuffs), and then think about their justice mentality.(You are always guilty as charged in their courts) and then they are lurking at dead ends and blind alleys waiting to catch a defaulting culprit infact in some instances they goad you on to fall into their trap especially if you are new in an environment.

For avoidance of doubt, state police will mean recruitment of more indigenous agberos (localized to tribal yoruba) into the supposedly organised policing affair. this is unlike what we have now where officers of various states of origin are posted to Lagos state and intermingle. It is actually very possible that the officers that won the accolade for Lagos state are not Yorubas, so let us not get it twisted.

If State Police should ever work, definitely not in Lagos State, this is not a Fashola issue, it is in built in some people to be pugilistic and pugnacious, add the spark of guns and bullets and some trivial knowledge of barks and woods from the forest and they will run amok. Ask OPC.....

Aki and Paw paw are also skilfully talented players. The only challenge in calling them up is the fact it is not clear which age group they should play, Feeder team, under 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, fying eagles, crawling eagles, walking eagles, running eagles, 'fumbling and wumbling' (SIC) eagles, papa and mama eagles. I cannot wait for their call up to the National side.

Information reaching us from authoritative source indicate that the duo might take their skills to the other countries that are offering them citizenship. I hope NFF is watching and Listening.

murimoney: nonsens! in my area I can prove that 99.8% of police there can't operate a pc.
I agree with this, and it is not only in your area, it cuts across, perhaps with the possible exception of 'policewoman'.

Having said that, my real issue is why these buffoons called 'Police' cannot think through all these processes and roll out a comprehensive registration suite to cater for the requirements of vehicles and their owners.

It is sad that people will have to grapple with new driver's licence, new car registration numbers and now bio-metric registration of vehicles, why are we so confused and disorganized?

All of these could have been bundled and rolled out at once. Although quite frankly, i do not know what is wrong with my vehicle numbers that i should pay to replace them. If they have chosen to replace, it should be at no cost to me, and at any rate, i should be given a choice to trade in my old number.

Anyways, as i speak, i have not even started processing the drivers license, all my vehicles are still carrying the former number plates, i am near certain i won't have time for their bio-metrics too. I will love to see how this pans out eventually.

Bunch of thieving hooligans....
