@OP, Its a pity you are just experiencing this. I have fallen forthem twice. The firs time i did not know, but considering my company car had quite a number of those Local Government papers, i was able to argue my way through especially when another corpoarte owned car was stopped and the guy had nothing to show.

the second time, i tried to out manouvre them but they stopped a big truck in front of me and used that truck to stop me, i parted with N1k.

Since then i have vowed (1) never to closely follow a moving truck on any stretch on the Edo roads (2) my speed on that side of the road is stupendously suicidal while i make every effort to knock down anyone flying either a red flag or carring spiked objects with the intention of scaring me to stop. (3) I go out of my way to search them out when they are standing by the side of the road and make calculated attempts to run them over.

I hope and pray that the day will come when i will crush at least 3 or 4 of them. Then i will be happy. When that happens, i will park whichever car i used in the village and never to bring it back to Lagos through any road network at all.

THis i promise them.

Business › Re: Foreign Languages That May Help You In Business by hardbody: 8:37am On Nov 04, 2013
Idrismusty97: 10. Portuguese
Brazil recently overtook the United Kingdom as the
world's sixth-largest economy, and with the
football World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics
just around the corner, all eyes will be on this
Portuguese-speaking "Bric" nation.
--
These rankings are based on a survey carried out
for the CBI Education & skills survey 2012, in
which 542 UK firm managers were asked which
languages are useful to their business.

9. Japanese
Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt's love of the
lambada may have earned him more ridicule than
respect, but his proficiency in Japanese – he spent
two years teaching English in Japan – is held in
high esteem among his parliamentary colleagues,
and came in useful on a recent trade mission to
Japan.

8. Russian
Relations with Russia haven't exactly been warm
since the end of the Cold War – from the
Litvinenko poisoning to the infamous Moscow "spy
rock" – but according to the Government's Trade
& Investment website, Russia is the UK's fastest-
growing major export market.

7. Cantonese
The majority of the UK's Cantonese speakers have
ties to Hong Kong, where it is the official language.
But Cantonese is spoken much more widely
around the world, with nearly 70 million native
speakers.

6. Arabic
Any who doubts the importance of Arabic-speaking
business to the United Kingdom's economy should
take a look at The Shard – the tallest building in
Western Europe was largely made possible by
Qatari investment. Or they could just ask a
Manchester City fan.

5. Polish
Polish makes the top five, with 19 per cent of UK
managers rating it as useful for their organisations.
Large-scale Polish migration to the UK after the
country's admission to the European Union made
the headlines, but as the largest consumer market
of the new EU member states and the only EU
country to avoid recession since the downturn
began, business ties with Poland extend
considerably further.

4. Mandarin
The official language of China – the world's most
populous and economically dynamic nation –
features highly in managers' preferences. In 2006
Brighton College became the first school in the
United Kingdom to made studying Mandarin
compulsory for all 13 year-olds.

3. Spanish
Valued as a major European language but also as
the leading language of fast-growing Latin
American economies – as well as its continued
rise to prominence in the United States – Spanish
is rated as useful by 37 per cent of the employers
surveyed.

2. French
It may be in seemingly terminal decline as a
subject of study in our secondary education
system, but proficiency in French remains a highly
sought-after skill among UK employers, with 49
per cent rating it as useful for their organisations.

1. German
Germany remains the largest single export market
for British goods outside of the USA, and Europe's
largest economy – with a GDP of more than €2.4
trillion – continues to defy the eurozone downturn .
So it's no surprise that UK companies want to hire
employees who know their umlauts from their
eszetts.

Well as for me i joined the banking industry just to prove a point and after about 2 years i moved on to other things. It is possible that years down the line, my contemporaries then are earning higher than i do now, but honestly my job function now is enriched and positively challenging and i am certain i would not be where i am today if i had stayed back in the bank.

Much advise had since been given in this post, apply them and you will be happy when the chips are down. One thing is certain, there are one of three ways that you MUST leave the bank and indeed any employment, You either (1)resign, (2)retire or (3)they fire you. Do the first before they hit you with the second or third options, however, plan to make it seamless so that you have the best of all possible worlds.

Brimmie: This is a Fictional Story on what Nigerians in Diaspora faces from their Families and Friends at home.

Questions From Ayo: Is it a crime to go abroad?
Why do people think that people pick money on the street of UK and US?
If you are Ayo what will you do?
Will you consider changing your Phone Number?

MORAL OF THIS STORY:
To Nigerians in Diaspora:
Don't start calling every Harry and Dick that you're in States when you still struggling to secure a Job not to talk of having an apartment.

To Family and Friends at Home: Don't put pressure on these people looking for Greener Pasture. Pressures like the one stated above from Africa (Nigeria) is one of the main reason why we have so many Africans (Nigerians) in prison all over the world because families and friends pushed them to the limit. Worse is the Emotional Blackmail used for selfish reasons.

And it's this same people that will insult the hard working folks that they are Corpse Washers, Toilet Washers, Cleaners and Babysitters.

GOD BLESS!!
Ayo should come home. Simple. If his family is so wretched that without Ayo nothing else goes on.

As have been said by quite a number here, the diasporans are not helping matters. They paint rosy pictures that pass the wrong images to their family members. some of us know how tough it is and and we keep some money aside to help you guys start afresh when you come back during xmas and spend stupidly to impress. Again, it dpeneds on the family's pedigree

I recall when i was flying from Abuja to Sokoto for a case. One young military chap was reading a book, the back cover says ' How to succeed and survive a military coup'. Unknown to us, the elderly man sitting in between us was a retired Brigadier General. He looked at the boy and told him, 'the only way to survive a coup is by neither planning one nor engaging in its execution' and he added, take my advise son, and you may retire a full General, I did as a Brigadier General'

The point here for as applied to the extant post is simple, the only way to survive a plane crash is to go by road.

Flights on international routes hardly ever crashes, so i am applying this to domestic routes.

Please be guided.

Please what is the difference between protecting the driver and having the driver kept in protective custody?

Having asked that rather simplistic question, i ask again, how long does it take to strangle a careless driver? We all know that the police here does not respond with the speed of light, so they should have concluded the driver's case even before the police got to hear of it. Now that girl's death will be in vain as i am sure that we have heard the last of this. What a shame.

And what is about NURTW? are they still extorting money?, na wa oo

Islam › Re: Would You Marry A Second Wife If You Were Wealthy? by hardbody: 1:05pm On Oct 31, 2013
nene1: Salams everyone,

I had a discussion with my mom and cousin about polygamy. I feel that EVERY man would practice polygamy if they could even including non muslims who criticize our system. So I just wanted to ask the muslim men here if they would marry more women if they were wealthy or if they would still stick to one wife. I think that in theory polygamy, is a good idea for women (not just men). If people did it right it would be of great benefit to women, but many men cannot be fair. Also women don't respect each other. They try to give each other hell. This is why I prefer to avoid polygamy. I am really afraid of my future husband cheating on me or marrying another wife. I really hope I find one who is fine with one wife and set of kids. I would be devastated if it happened to me. I don't think I have the patience or strength to endure it. Are there men out there that can actually control their desires and be faithful to one woman. My cousin's mother is a 3rd wife so she has no problem with polygamy and was almost ready to be a 2nd wife of an older rich guy. However he has been married to his one wife for many years. He's one of the few rich men with 1 wife. My cousin thinks it's selfish to want a man all to yourself. I disagree, if you are in love with your husband, why would you want to share him with another woman? Polygamy only needs to be practiced by a few men in order for every woman to find a husband. It doesn't have to be mine. Some women are ok with it and some are not. It is not fard in Islam so everyone doesn't have to do it. Well that's my feeling on polygamy. Maybe I am wrong, but we do have a choice on what type of marriage we want.
Even if the money is overflowing, i will not marry more than one wife. But even wise and famed king Solomon will envy my retinue of concubines

He looked otherwise ok though. I never was his fan, so i just saw him as the next dude across the seat. However i recall one silly 'old' lady giggling, are you not RMD, its nice to be on the same flight with you'.....I was so embarrased, especially so when the RMD did not even acknowledge her school girl giggles. The guy just smiled and looked away....

Anyway, i derail. He looks ok.
