The biggest material gift I have made for a woman is to my current partner. Paying her school fees from year one to presently 500L and putting her on a 15k weekly stipend till date (initially 5k weekly then 10k now 15k) and sometimes 100k to change clothes if fortune smiles on me.

As Christian there are things we do for the conscience of our of others. All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: 1 corin 6:12 - you have a friend with drinking problem but for you as a Christian you have nothing against drinking and no addiction to it; just for the sake of this Friend, when you have friends hangout you exclude alcohol from the menu. This is the path of Love we are called to walk upon as Christian, love is sacrifice.

For me, true friendship isn't about being there only when it's convenient, it's about being there when it's not. Through what they are willing to sacrifice for you; It is during heavy trials that you know true friends.
