Have you been barred from entering the university? I have not been declared persona non grata on the premises of the university by the school authorities. We were called cult members — Aina Adeyeye’s friend, Tomi Aina, who was arrested alongside the former, tells MOTUNRAYO JOEL that the incident was premeditated For how long have you known Adeyeye? I have known him for more than three years. I think I was in part three at the time we met. He was in part one at the time. We were roommates in –Room 107, Biobaku Hall, University of Lagos. How would describe his personality? He is unassuming, easy-going and very intelligent. The UNILAG authorities said you were part of ‘a group of boys’ mobilised to cause commotion in the school. What is your view about this? It is convenient to say such a thing. When I read the statement issued by the university, I was disappointed. I was not part of any group of boys hired to foment trouble. As a matter of fact, I was on campus that day to check the list of Batch ‘B’ National Youth Service Corps members. After checking it, I called Femi who said he was on campus and we arranged to meet. We met around the school gate and joined by two other friends. As we were leaving the school, Femi was exchanging a phone contact with one of us. While we were doing that, a security officer approached us and told us to walk fast. Femi, though engrossed with the person he was exchanging contact with, nodded to the security officer to affirm that they would do as directed. He thought they were proving reluctant and in the process, he applied force. We later said we should move to the security unit to settle the matter as some students were already gathering. I thought that at the unit, we would resolve the matter amicably. But it was unfortunate that when we got there, rather than settling it, one of the security officers looked at Adeyeye and said, “You insulted the vice-chancellor, now the VC has caught you.” We were called various names ranging from cult members to troublemakers. We were detained overnight and later taken to Sabo Police Station. The whole thing appeared premeditated in a way. Were any of you manhandled? Yes, one of us was manhandled. The police also collected Adeyeye’s phone to delete the photos he took showing how the security officer manhandled one of us. We were made to give an undertaking that we would not write any malicious article or leak the photos into public domain. I see that as an infringement on our human rights. How has the incident affected your going out with him especially to the UNILAG campus? It has not affected my relationship with him. I believe in Adeyeye and in what he is fighting for. |
I have the letters with me and they indicated that we were rusticated for our participation in the protest. Everything I wrote in the article I posted on my Facebook page pointed to the fact that the resolution of the Senate was not a product of a democratic process especially with the student leaders who participated in the protest. As of the day I was admitted into the university till the day I was rusticated, there was no regulation in the university’s student handbook that stated “unauthorised use of university name, logo, etc in a manner that would bring the university to disrepute.” I saw the “emergency” handbook a day after I was rusticated with a student who claimed that only three of them were issued the book in a class of 78 students. This affirms that it was a “kangaroo” verdict. It was premeditated and retroactive because I went to the panel with the latest handbook i.e for the 2014/2015 academic session and there was nothing of such in it. Most students, especially freshmen, do not have the ‘emergency’ handbook. I can say convincingly that the handbook was ‘prepared’ to nail me. It is laughable because the university cannot attach that sub-section in clear legal terms in its allegations against me. What is your position on the university’s submission that you abused the vice-chancellor yet expect to receive the university certificate? I am of the opinion that the university is a place for engagement of intellectual minds. It should be a breeding ground for managers; people who will be able to manage issues with all sincerity. A Nigerian graduate should be a leader who has undergone a certifiable training and must be open to criticisms and scrutiny. I have noted in one of my articles that if certificates amounted to civilisation and development, Nigeria would be the best place to be. I know some people who have about three master’s degrees and two PhDs. I know someone who enrolled for a master’s programme because of a N10,000 increase in his salary. We are too conscious of certificates and this has brought little or no development to the country. It is high time we became educated and not “certificated.” By mentioning the vice-chancellors’s name in my article on my Facebook page, I did two things. First, I awoke him to his responsibilities in the nation as a scholar. This is the same with other personalities I mentioned in the article. Also, I exposed the administrative and managerial failure I noticed in the system. The language I employed might be harsh which I had apologised repeatedly, yet I maintained that the thoughts in the article were my opinions about the university’s Senate and should not be censored. I wonder why university administrators cannot tolerate a newly-reinstated students’ union that was proscribed for 10 years. Did you organise a ‘group of boys’ as alleged by the university to cause commotion and chaos at the university gate? It was surprising to read such. The said ‘boys’ are serving corps members. It was so stated in the statement by the university. I do not think any corps members would leave their states of deployment to come and cause chaos at the gate of a university. It was a case of trumped-up charges against us. We were the ones who asked the security men to move to the security unit to resolve the issue instead of creating a scene at the gate. I did not organise any group of boys. It is part of the desperation to nail me. How would you react to the claim by the UNILAG authorities that you were arrested on campus because of your desperation to attract cheap publicity, earn public sympathy and continuously bring the name of the university into disrepute? It is an opinion which I won’t censor as a sensible and civilised democrat though they censored mine. Popularity or sympathy does not define a man. A man is defined by his level of consciousness. A 400-level student of the University of Lagos, who was rusticated for his post on Facebook, Olorunfemi Adeyeye, talks about some issues raised by the authorities of the varsity in a statement and his recent arrest on the premises of the university with GBENGA ADENIJI We learnt that you were recently arrested by security operatives on the premises of the University of Lagos. What really happened? It was a minor issue which was blown out of proportion. I and three of my friends were discussing and moving towards the school. At the small exit gate of the university’s main gate, I was exchanging a contact with one of them from my phone. We were moving at a slow pace and one of the security officers told us not to loiter in an unruly manner. I nodded at him to show my acceptance of his order and also pleaded with him to be patient with us as we were almost through with the contact exchange. To our surprise, the officer replied by launching into a verbal attack. He called my friend unprintable names. They started exchanging words. The officer manhandled him and this left my friend with a scratch on his body. It later resulted into a heated argument and noticing the gathering of students to the scene, I and my other two friends advised that we should move to the security unit to resolve the matter amicably. My friend was dragged to the security unit and we all went there with another officer. When we got to the unit, we were told to make a statement which we did and we learnt that the university’s chief security officer had been informed of the incident. While giving a statement, some of the officers kept making some comments directed at me. One of them pointed at me saying, ‘‘Were you not the one who insulted the vice-chancellor? The VC has caught you.” One of the officers also said “You do not want to graduate; you are the Sahara agent, right?” I was taken aback and wondered the link between the matter and my rustication. What did you do next? We were at the security unit all through waiting to be attended to but nothing happened. We started making contacts to reach the CSO to resolve the matter. We did not hear from him and we were not released. We slept at the security unit. At about 5.45am, some policemen from Sabo Police Station came to take us to the station. Our shirts were tied to each other in twos. At the station, we made a statement and we were interrogated by a police officer. He insinuated that we should give a statement that we were cult members, planning to attack the school. We vehemently refused to make such a statement. After that, my friends were given their phones but I was not given mine. They called mine an exhibit because I took the picture of the officer manhandling my friend with it. I took the picture to have a pictorial evidence of what happened and not for any other reason as the police officer alleged. We were later locked up in a cell. Some student leaders later arrived at the police station. At that point, we were taken to the office of the Divisional Police Officer where the matter was resolved after the intervention of the CSO. With the incident, are you in any way scared for your life? On ethical grounds, I know I am no longer safe. I had received a lot of advice concerning safety. The university in a statement said you and other rusticated student leaders were not victimised because of your involvement in a protest on campus. It stated that you were found to have breached a part of the regulations in the university’s 2015-2016 student information handbook. What is your reaction to this? It was rather disheartening that the university came out to say that. It is an untrue statement. I and other student leaders were invited to a panel. The panel was known as, ‘Special senate disciplinary committee on recent students’ protest.’ Read more below |
These words are for you, oh filthy Christian! See filthiness in the abode of God! Goats among the sheep! Get out and be ye not counted with the people of God! You filthy Christian! Someone may be in the church and be the Chief Fornicator. Someone may be in the church and be the father of Adulterers. Filthy Usher! It may not affect the gift. Filthy Chorister! It may not affect the gift. Filthy Christian, it may not affect anything. English, charisma have virtually nothing to do kingdom wise. It is only complementary. You filthy Christian, that day may be too hot. Get back to the cross today. Retrace your steps...! Go back..... |
My dear Christians, What is the problem with us? Why are we the cause of the reasons unbelievers run away from Jesus? Why are we set as bad examples? Do you know back then, when Christians, are really what they are called, banks call for SUs or rather say Christians as bankers, auditors. That was then! Drunkards, prostitutes, liars, are better than us. Or even, we are carriers of all these and we still cover them. Christians, haven't we failed Jesus? Christians, we have failed Nigeria. Nigeria ought to be great if actually the Christians are upright. OMG! We have CAN. CAN? Christian Association of Nigeria who are yet to stand up to their responsibility as a Christian body yet go around for politics. When PFN was actually PFN, devil was afraid. Now, he says, I have got them. We were threats to the devil but he has used money, pleasure to make God regret over us. Haven't you failed God? We go to church and come back the same for more than ten years? When the trumpet sounds, where will you land? We stay around salvation and we remain unsaved. We hear life and we refuse to live. Pastors go to hell. Choristers go to hell. Evangelists go to hell. Prophets go to hell. Who won't go to hell amongst us? Jesus can not boldly say he has got 5 out of 1000 in a church as saved persons. Christians, where are we heading to? Churches, why are you misleading people? You turned heavenly work to business. No wonder the government taxes the church because it is now called business. No correction. No word of God but always success.. Success. Christians are church goers because of the aesthetics. I love my church because it's beautiful. Lol. Is that what we should go for? God doesn't care about where you serve him. No matter how big your church is and you are not saved, you will land in hell. There's no way about it. Unbelievers can be saved by your conduct. Your life is a book and everyone reads you. Christians that lie, fornicate, cheat, sing worldly songs, possess worldly possessions? Are you worthy of being called a Christian? Christian my foot! Remember, judgement starts from the church and Revelation 22:12 says 'behold I come quickly and my rewards come with me to give unto everyone according to the works of his hands' Change today to change the world..... Happy Sunday |

The Code of Conduct Bureau has begun massive verification of assets declared by top serving and former public officers at the federal, state and local government levels. A statement by the Chairman of the CCB, Mr. Sam Saba, released by the Press and Protocol Unit of the bureau on Thursday, stated that the exercise involved physical appearance of the concerned public officers before the bureau for conference and field verifications of their declared assets. Conference verification requires public officers to present documents relating to their declared assets to designated officials of the bureau. On the other hand, field verification involves public officers taking CCB officials to locations of their declared landed, fixed and other assets that could not be conveniently moved to the bureau’s office. He stated that by virtue of Paragraph 11 of Part 1 of the Fifth Schedule to the 1999 Constitution (as amended), “every public officer is required to submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau a written declaration of all properties, assets and liabilities and those of his/her spouse (if not a public officer) and his unmarried children under the age of 18 years.” He added that any statement in the declaration, found to be false by any authorities or persons authorised to verify it, “shall be deemed to be a breach of the code”. He stated, “To this end, the Bureau has commenced its 2016 4th Quarter Cycle of Conference and Field Verification of Assets of top public officers. Accordingly, letters of invitation have been dispatched to ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, service chiefs and other top public officers. “All invited public officers are to note that failure to honour the invitation by the CCB in this regard is a breach of the provisions of the constitution and could lead to prosecution at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. “Public officers not yet invited are to await their letters of invitation.” He listed 76 public officers that had been invited by the bureau with a threat of the possibility of prosecution if they fail to honour the invitation. Among the 76 invitees are 30 ministers whom, according to the bureau, have yet to submit themselves to the exercise. According to the bureau, ministers who have yet to submit themselves for the verification are Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation); Babatunde Fashola (Power, Works and Housing); Ibe Kachikwu (Petroleum Resources (State); Abubakar Malami (Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice); Adebayo Shittu (Communications); Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Solid Minerals and Steel Development); Audu Ogbeh (Agriculture and Rural Development). Others include Senator Aisha Alhassan (Women Affairs and Social Development); Solomon Dalung (Youths & Sports Development); Osagie Ehanire (Health (State)); Usani Usani (Niger Delta Affairs); Prof. Anthony Anwukah (Education (State)); Lai Mohammed (Information and Culture), and Gen. Ali Mansur (retd.) (Defence). The list also includes Senator Udo Udoma (Budget and National Planning); Ibrahim Jibril (Environment (State)); Suleiman Adamu (Water Resources and Rural Development); Mustapha Shehuri (Power (State)); Prof. Claudius Daramola (Niger Delta Affairs (State)) and Kemi Adeosun (Finance) as those who have not submitted themselves to verification. Abayoyomi Olanishakin; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Sadique; and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibas Ibok. Also on the list are the immediate past Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase; Chairman, Police Service Commission, Chief Mike Okiro; Controller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Babatunde Mohammed; Executive Secretary of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Waziri Adio; Director-General of National Pension Commission, Mrs. Chinelo Amazu; and Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, Export Promotion Council, Mr. Olusegun Awolowo. Also yet to turn up for the CCB verification are the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Brig.-Gen. Sule Kazaure; Executive Secretary, Nigeria Sao-Tome & Principle Joint Development Authority, Kashim Tumash; Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru; Controller-General of Federal Fire Service, Anebi Garba; Director-General, Budget and National Planning, Mr. Ben Akabueze, and Managing Director, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Commission, Ibrahim Umaru. The CCB also listed a number of Federal Commissioners of the Civil Service Commission and three Group Executive Directors of the NNPC, who are yet to submit themselves to the CCB’s verification. In the statement, the CCB stated that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, and five other ministers, among 15 other former and serving public officers, had submitted themselves to the asset verification. Buratai recently became the target of scathing public scrutiny when reports of his choice $1.5m properties, which he claimed were acquired in the name of his wife in Dubai, hit the public space. Saba, confirmed to our correspondent on the telephone that all the 15 persons, whose assets had been verified, had been issued a certificate of Conference Verification/Field Verification. “The Chief of Army Staff was the first to be issued his certificate. We started issuing to others last week,” he said. Responding to further inquiry about whether the certificate issued by the CCB implied that the cleared public officers were free from liability of criminal prosecution, Saba stated, “Even though the tribunal (Code of Conduct Tribunal) is the institution with the power of adjudication in asset declaration breaches, the certificate means that from our own end, we are satisfied with the verification that we have done.” The five cleared ministers are Abdulrahman Dambazau (Interior); Zainab Shamsuna (Budget & National Planning); Adamu Adamu (Education); Aisha Abubakar (Minister of Trade, Investment & Industry (State)); and Amina Mohammed (Minister of Environment). The rest of the former and serving public officers already cleared by the CCB are the immediate past Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim; Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Yakubu Mahmood; a former Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Julius Okojie, and a former Controller-General, Nigerian Prisons Service, Ezenwa Peter. Ibrahim Ali (retd.); Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi; and Federal Commissioner, Civil Service Commission, Hope Ikrirko. The CCB boss commended those that had turned up for the exercise. |
King Odukoya Harbayormieh Adedamola I request for reasonable reasons why Nigeria should or could be great. I am worried about the kind of citizens Nigeria produces. This is not just cool for us. Ever since I was born, there has been one kind of mistrust of the other of anything about the government. It's been widely believed that anything from Nigerian govt is mere propanganda. The N-power was regarded as propanganda. The establishment and constitution of committees are just selfishly brought up. When will we think right? I understand clearly that we have been manipulated years ago, but aren't we the manipulators who sell out our conscience and future to parties not even persons. Right from 1914, we have rejected peace and refused peaceful coexistence right from onset. Igbos wouldn't give the nation peace as long as the president is not from their region. Same with other tribes. But a question, can it be better when local government isn't settled when the chairman isn't from the ward of some people? Wards in totality make up the federation. Or right from the family when there isn't peace. How then could you demand national peace? This is an issue that matter most. The media, blogs, wouldn't promote peace and unity. They will spread hate news and just in a bid to get followers at the detriment of national peace. The country belongs to all of us. Let's in peace and harmony live together. Whether Christian or Muslim, one Nigeria should be our target. Whether south, north, one Nigeria should be our target. Whether black or white, one great nation should be our target. We are great. We aren't terrorists. We aren't militants. We are Nigerians. Let's in unity make Nigeria great. Do your part as I do my part. And tomorrow, we will get someone at the top to change this county. God bless ex presidents. Let's support the current one. We should always know that love is paramount. Let's shun ritualism. Let's shun human trafficking. Let's shun mediocrity. Let's be one again! You will be surprised at the way I make it despite this hard time. I want you to know that people build houses, commission new offices and projects. I am not left out tho. How did I make it despite this hard times? One thing is that I do not complain or go around murmuring.. I only believe what the bible said about me that those who trust in the Lord will run and not get tired, I will walk and not be weary. I will continue to fly high like an eagle because he with me Is greater than the one in the world. The psalmist said even if the cubs go hungry, those who trust in the Lord shall not lack anything good. It's all about God. Make a decision today meanwhile I do not complain for any reason because all is good for them who trust God. Thanks. |
I remember vividly that I told you people that the government hasn't said anything. Now, the government said something, you still say nonsense. I wonder if we actually think self. Speculations can get to the Senate for their own view. They are humans. Saraki isn't Senate ni? Please think wisely and support this govt. If you don't keh.. ....like we care |

See difference between wahala in APC and in PDP. Intellectuals present! Benin City - National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie Oyegun has said that he will not respond to the allegations levelled against him by the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, as regards the governorship primaries of the party in Ondo State until after the governorship election in Edo State. Oyegun said he would meet with President Muhammadu Buhari before he would fully reply Tinubu, reports Sun Tinubu in a statement on Sunday called for the immediate resignation of Oyegun Tinubu according to News 24 accused Oyegun of being a “fraud and a regressive element who cares nothing for the progressive ideas upon which the party was founded and is hell-bent on guiding it into the ditch.” Speaking in Benin on Monday, Odigie-Oyegun said most of the things said against him were not true. 'Asiwaju is a well respected leader of our party so I cannot be seen speaking evil against him. I have to consult properly with other leaders of the party before we make any definite statement. Again, you know we have a crucial election here in Edo which is my priority right now. “We don’t want to lose focus and I know Asiwaju also wants us to win because we all have worked hard for this. So may be after the election if there is need I will speak, if no need I will relax. But all I can say now is that most of the things said in the papers about me are not true. I have always believed in internal democracy, that the credibility of primaries must be taken seriously. - News 24 |

I am sure that we all know Nigeria is in a recession. This isn't the first time it happens in the world. It's quite unfortunate that Nigerians are not patriotic as it shows quite alright that just 5 out of every 10 million of Nigerians are patriotic. Nigeria will surely be great again, but our collective impact is needed to catapult Nigeria to the promise land. I hereby highlight what we need to do on order to achieve this. It's achievable. CHANGE BEGINS WITH US change of course begins from within. We cry here and there we aren't seeing any change. Let remind you that when Yar'adua took over, it was kind of not rosy but after all better because, the same PArty was involved. As at then, things were still globally normal. The change we seek therefore, is attitudinal change which cuts across spendings And unnecessary love for foreign goods. PATRIONISE NIGERIAN MADE Patronising made in Nigeria goods will not only improve the state of economy but as well go a long way to stabilise it. Nigerians are the targeted customers in foreign markets not because it's really made for us but because they are aware of the urge Nigerians have in visiting and using foreign goods to Show case status. You can ask how about our politicians. See below. In a nutshell, PATRIONISE made in Nigeria goods. VOTE FOR PERSON NOT PARTY Right from 1999, Nigerians have been voting for parties that were able to spend to the fullest looted funds. I blame our fathers and critics who come out to lash out at this present administration when they couldn't resist bad policies and constitutional fraud back in their days. They out of selfish interest now come out to criticize. I am not saying criticism isn't good but should be on a solid ground. APC PDP and the rest have used us enough, so it's time we got up to the reality. YOUTHS, KINDLY WISE UP! A politician who couldn't even make his children vote not to talk of being used as thugs, will go to institutions and hire jobless us, then we agree to be manipulated. Don't you know it's a name? They will never compensate you with political appointments but with thuggery acts. The girls are politicians babes when they should be in school learning. No wonder, companies decry low quality of graduates. Don't you worry about what caused high unemployment rate? It's not the government. It's us! There are vacancies everyday, so I sense that, good heads are needed. What's the usefulness of a mech engineer who can't identify a bolt? A medical Doctor Who couldn't define the causes of diarrhoea? Aren't you concerned? Apart from this, know outrightly that POLITICS IS NOT A BUSINESS BUT A SERVICE TO HUMANITY. When we correct the notion in our generation, then, we can achieve the unachievable in our generation. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS WITH SENSE. Knowing our rights with sense means we should always table matter sensibly. When we start working, are we going to as well go on strikes like our parents do? Or when we are almost retiring, will we wait on pension? These are questions we need to answer. Strike is a tool of destabilisation in Nigeria. Any issue goes with strike not for the masses but for selfish goals. You should know that you can always call back your legislators when they misrepresent you. In Nigeria, we rather hail them. Then everything seems okay to them. We sentimentally throw shades at ourselves in the name of supporting people. I believe we understand. UNITY IS A KEY TO MEANINGFUL NIGERIA Unity is essential in building a good country. Look at the way we here, make tribalistic comment in the name of supporting people. Let's unitedly fight the fight without sentiments. Let's build a good country now! Lastly, BE CLOSER TO GOD I am quite aware of existence of atheists right now but, that's not to address now. As for atheist, your brain is your god, so use your brain to achieve things. But as for Christians and Muslims, let's be prayerful and optimistic about a greater Nigeria. Anyone on throne, is rightly chosen by God. Let's change our mentality and think straight to unitedly carry Nigeria. Everything still goes back to change beggining with us. One love! One Nigeria!

When I hear people praise the guy, I feel like, something is wrong and they are being wicked. The parents might not be financially buoyant And there their child displayed lack of respect. If ur dad doesn't given pocket money but pay your school fees, does it warrant you calling him a bastard? This is just the case here. The guy displayed disrespect and lack of adequate home training. Unilag starts exam in two weeks time and someone is there organising protests? Ur so called Supporters will write exam while u are there doing activism when not recognised. Did Paul, Jesus curse the Pharisees when on their right? I see some kind of stupidity. Unilag is a school not country... ..when u are in Rome, behave like Romans. There are limitations to Human Rights on some cases.... .if I see this guy come for interview, I won't think twice before saying No. His parents should accept my condolences and train Femi later. I recommend expulsion if possible to be in the meeting... ...... |
