Asimiju: Varys is a merman
Certainly one of the strangest Game of Thrones theories doing the rounds is that Varys is a merman. Such creatures do exist in the Song of Ice and Fire universe and are known as "merlings". In the books, Varys's smile is described as peculiar and "slimey", and when Tyrion threatens to throw Varys in the sea, he replies: "You might be disappointed in the result." Some viewers were also surprised at the speed with which Varys travelled the long distance from Meereen to Dorne in season six. Might he have swam with the help of a hidden fishtail?
A key part of the theory is that he is helping Dany so her dragons will fight the White Walkers with fire in the north, melting the ice so that the merlings can flourish – with only Littlefinger and the Eyrie left above water. "That's right," says Dan Casey, senior editor at Nerdist. "The entire saga of Game of Thrones could be an elaborate 'mer-scheme' to expand their territory."
Fake Arya goes to Westeros
The end of season six's episode eight saw Arya Stark announce that her time in Braavos with The Faceless Men was over after she defeated the pesky Waif. She says she wants to return to Westeros to rejoin her family - but what if the girl we saw was not really Arya but the Waif in disguise? Fans point out that we never see her actually kill the Waif, nor the Waif properly dead and burned, which in Game of Thrones could mean their character will be resurrected. In an alternative fan theory, Arya and the Waif will be revealed as the same person, in a Fight Club-like twist. she did kill the girl and put her face as one of the mask. also the producers have explained that it took long for varys to travel to and fro but nothing much was happening while he traveled so it didnt take much storyline time. in other issues, i dont see how or why sam will be the narrator...he doesnt know or experience much and worse, he is stuck in a library now. |

Christianity Etc › Re: All Atheists, Why Did You Become An Atheist? by Harvard13(m): 9:33am On Jul 12, 2016 |
i have been going through many comments here. they usually start with "i was a christian" its funny that there seem to be little or no muslim converted atheists.
then dey go further and say, dey started doubting, questioning things because they didnt sound beleivable, likeable or to their taste.
but, u know how d first denomination broke out, dey didnt "like" a doctrine that affected them. king henry was ok with the church until it told him not to get another wife then he started "doubting"
atheists analogy is what we used to do in sec school. school had laws: dont do this or get punished e.t.c.
someone will come cheat in an exam and wont be caught or would steal and wont be caught and we will ask ourselves, why should i read when pple are cheating nd going scot free?? remember when u leave d right path and start cheating, u might not be caught immediately but maybe at the end of your stay, ull realize that u were wrong to deviate!
if you read your bible very well before u were "converted", ull have come across the story of king saul who was a beloved but then lost his way! |
Christianity Etc › Re: All Atheists, Why Did You Become An Atheist? by Harvard13(m): 9:18am On Jul 12, 2016 |
ValentineMary: I came from a very religious catholic family (at least my moniker depicts that) my cousin a catholic priest, another a nun, another a seminarian, another a charismatic leader. and me a block rosary president and devote catholic.
I think my journey to atheism started when I met some of them on facebook, I felt absolute pity for them because I thought they were all going to hell. The first thing I said to them was "I pity u atheist in this group" (They were mostly American though). Until I got to know them better then I realised they were good guys and not bad as the bible depicts them to be. Then I asked myself why did Jesus say "Those who don't believe in me shall not have eternal life". I then began to doubt some of Jesus message.
Being a catholic, I learnt about their killings in the past but I tried to overlook it but I could not. Why would the pope (who we were taught was Jesus rep here on earth order killing of women and kids?). Also I developed great devotion to the Blessed Mary and I made sure I prayed 20 decades of the rosary daily (catholics know how long this is) and I also constantly wore my scapular of mt Carmel because we were taught those who die wearing the scapular can't go to hell. I also became a block rosary president and hoped one day to be a catholic priest. I was so vested in the catholic faith and belief that people thought I was a seminarian.
But after some time, I could not overlook the killings in the bible and church history. It just did not make sense. If God was love why allow so much killing, why be oblivious about certain thing eg thinking that if some dudes build a tower till it reach d sky; they might find him, causing pharoah to sin just to punish him, etc. It did not sum up. So I called myself a religious skeptic and I still believed in a God. Until I began to ponder more, I saw so much errors than I expected. How could a cause that claims to be good like religion cause so much suffering, discrimination, and disaster Then I migrated to being a deist but now an agnostic atheist. one unique thing...u believe, then you meet a group that u cant defend yourself against and they influence u. all bad boys were once good boys, until dey met somepple and their ideology changed. a pope ordered those killings, and so u forgot the good that many popes before and after him had done huh? |

cloudgoddess: Wow. Christian logic is truly baffling at times. Alarming even.
I don't know whether to give a lesson on basic ecology or just save my breath. F*ck it, this just has to be said. I'll try to make it quick.
Lions never ate grass. Their dentition is a dead giveaway - long, sharp canines are for tearing flesh. Anatomically they are simply not shaped to chew down plant matter (compare a cow or zebra's teeth & bite to a lion's and you will see the functional dissimilarity).
Also, not only are their digestive systems unfit to break down cellulose (it would literally cause vomiting and constipation), but their carnivorous role is critical for maintaining the population balance of their herbivorous prey. Without carnivores, prey would quickly reproduce to excess, leading to food shortage and ultimately destruction of the ecosystem.
The bible is a book of myths and falsehoods written by extremely ignorant, primitive men. Whatever claims it makes regarding nature are very likely to be false. Value yourself and learn about the real world. You're wasting mental energy defending made up junk that makes absolutely no sense. bros eh, biko ure going against your own rules by typing f*ck. on that note, i demand an apology especially to those romancelanders that have been queried for doing so!! |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Evidence For The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ by Harvard13(m): 9:05am On Jul 12, 2016 |
Seun: Why did Jesus have to go back to the Father anyway? If he was physically resurrected, he could've just continued his ministry on earth. The whole world would have been converted within a few years. To me, the reason is simple: being dead, he could not continue his ministry. if you read your bible well, you will know that he was with the father initially. he only took human body for a purpose (to suffer and die for mankind) and after he had done that, he went back |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Evidence For The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ by Harvard13(m): 9:02am On Jul 12, 2016 |
Seun: Only Matthew reports the presence of Roman soldiers at the tomb, despite it being.a big deal. This suggests that Matthew's writer may have fabricated it to support the notion that the body could not have been stolen. Mark contradicts Matthew directly because it says that the women asked themselves who would open the tomb. If they knew that there were soldiers there, they would not have had that discussion. Even Matthew gives the disciples a day to steal the body without being stopped by Roman soldiers. And the disciples could still have stolen the body by just bribing the Roman soldiers if indeed the soldiers were there. wow, u talked of bribe! lets liken this situation to ur early comparison with T.B. Joshua. first of, d romans hated that Jesus was king so there is no chance they would have collected bribe to let go of christs body as it would have supported d disciples claim . second, christ didnt die silently. he had prophesied that he would come back on the third day openly. now if t.b. joshua and/or his followers declare him president/king of nigeria and he is put to death by the government, knowing fully well that he said he will rise if destroyed, dont u think dey will safeguard d tomb to be sure that nothing funny happened? third, the women wouldnt have known if the soldiers would open the tomb. naturally u dont expect dem to willingly open d tomb so its no coincidence that dey were worried. |
