Health / A MUST READ: No 1 Killer Disease In The World Today by healthpriority: 11:28am On Jun 12, 2019
Hello every one, this might not be what you were expecting to see... But you should read through and ask your self some questions before exiting the page.

NOW

Do you know?

1. Heart disease is rated number 1 killer disease by WHO
2. It causes about 17million or 30% of global deaths.
3. What actions you can take to be out of this statistics

The world health organization (WHO) estimates that by the year 2020, 40% of all deaths world wide will be related to heart diseases. HYPERTENSION often know as silent killer is one of the major risk factor, because harm can be happening without the patient realizing it. Although it may be accompanied by cold hands or feet or frequent headaches.
Sometimes the first symptoms could even be the last.

The problem is that there is a strain on the heart which is not designed to cope with higher pressure. The heart has to pump harder to push blood, thereby responds by enlarging to be better and able to do the hard work, and this causes problem for the organ that is lean and flexible to work at its own pace.
Another complication. Comes from high cholesterol, circulating fats can be trapped in constricted vessels, and when these break free, it causes heart attack.
The brain can also be affected through stroke you know, and this is caused by blood clot or loose plaque lodging in the vessel of the brain., where it cuts off the flow of oxygenated blood.

Other diseases associated with the heart are
Coronary thrombosis
Coronary occlusion
Coronary sclerosis
Angina pectoris

Note: Hereditary and environmental factors also affect our health, but to a large extent, our health depends on ourselves, lifestyle, eating habits, sleeping pattern, and how much we exercise. Even if you inherited the tendency, you should take action by doing something about the cinditions

What must I do to prevent this?
1a. Know your blood pressure.... Do it often
1b. Know your cholesterol level

2.check your lifestyle
a. Your diet
b. Your weight
c. How often do you exercise?
d. Avoid smoking, alcohol
e. Learn to manage stress

Note: No 1 is very important as it can worsen over time without you knowing.

If you have any challenge or tendency, feel free to chat us up on the link below. If you also want to learn how to manage stress and live a healthy lifestyle... We are here for you.

Thank you

Health / Re: Sister Has Fibroid But Afraid Of Surgery, Help With Alternative Solutions by healthpriority: 10:26pm On Jun 11, 2019
JKisOK:
We really need your advice on this crucial matter. We have a sister who has been diagnosed with fibroid. Having seen a few doctors, she is confronted with solving the problem through undergoing surgery to evacuate the mass. However, she would prefer an alternative to surgery to evacuate the fibroid.

There is a bit of background. She has a daughter from a previous relationship. Her husband has two children from his previous relationships. However, they want to have children together, which has not happened. Everyone supposes that the fibroid issue may be blocking fertility between them.

Is there a confirmed non-surgical procedure that has worked with anyone out there? Where did the lady go for this non-surgical evacuation? What is the rate of success? What is the cost implication?

Please, counsel and insights are urgently needed.

Hello dear
I understand what your sis is going through.... But I'd advice you to check the size of the fibroid but taking any decision..... If ts not big... Then it can be gotten rid off without surgery.... You can chat us up on the link below

Hello good people in the house. I really need your advice on how to mitigate the effect of constipation. I've been to several hospitals. Their medication and advice are total flop. What they give to others that make them see results do not work for me. For instance, I was told at one point to take a lot of water daily and also eat fruits like oranges that are rich in fibre. I did these things and they do not work even one bit. So was the drugs they gave me too. Instead helping me out, some of those drugs seem to be damaging thing in my body. Before I started going to hospitals, I used to buy stuff from road side medicine stores. There was a time a lady gave me an injection that changed how my system works. For more than a year, my stool was greenish and sticky. So because of this, I have decided to stop taking medicine for this. What i need is the kind of diet that will alleviate this effect.

Mine seems like a genetic. My dad battled with it to the point that he was taking laxative every week. I've started taking laxative too. The things that relatively work for me are those i discovered by myself and not the things doctors gave me. I discovered that tiger nut work just fine. Pawpaw also works. These things when i eat them at night makes me empty a lot in the next morning. The problem is that when i take them so often, they become accustomed to the system and stop working.

Constipation is destroying my body. Makes me age fast. When i was 17, people thought i was 25. It gives me bad breath too in addition to other discomfort that accompany it such as bloating etc... These things have affected my self esteem so badly.

Please house I need advice on how to manage this thing. Thanks
Hello Dear

Health / Prostrate Enlargement & Natural Treatment...... by healthpriority: 8:08am On Jun 11, 2019
For most men, these nightly bathroom runs may be the first sign of an enlarged prostate Other symptoms may include trouble starting a stream of urine, leaking, or dribbling. And, like gray hair, an enlarged prostate is a natural by-product of getting older, doctors say. Trouble is, the nightly bathroom runs become more frequent — eventually edging their way into the daytime routine.

It’s a problem that has several names — enlarged prostrate, benign prostate hyperplasia, or simply BPH.

*Enlarged Prostate Symptoms and Causes*
Ask a doctor and he will tell you it just happens in men over 45. No reason just men ageing. Personally I don’t believe that. I believe it’s something that has to do with our diet and lifestyle
If you are eating lots of processed junk food, drinking alcohol heavily and smoking for example your health will suffer big time.

In men, urine flows from the bladder through the urethra. BPH is a benign (noncancerous) enlargement of the prostate that blocks the flow of urine through the urethra.
The prostate cells gradually multiply, creating an enlargement that puts pressure on the urethra — the “chute” through which urine and semen exit the body.

*Symptoms of enlarged prostrate can include:*
* A weak or slow urinary stream
* A feeling of incomplete bladder emptying
* Difficulty starting urination
* Frequent urination
* Urgency to urinate
* Getting up frequently at night to urinate
* A urinary stream that starts and stops
* Straining to urinate
* Continued dribbling of urine
* Returning to urinate again minutes after finishing

In time past, the only option for people with Enlarged Prostate was surgery called *Trans Urethral Prostate Resection (TURP)*, this procedure involves “shaving” or removing small pieces of the enlarged prostate that block the flow of urine.
TURP usually relieves the uncomfortable symptoms of enlarged prostate but with some few problems.

*First;* The prostate may enlarge again, requiring another operation.
This is true for one in four men who may have to undergo a second TURP procedure in three years.

*Secondly;* Surgery does not prolong life. Study suggests that it actually reduces a person’s lifespan by a year.
In some cases, TURP can cause impotence or complete inability to control urination. The most common side effect, however, is retrograde ejaculation, that is, the ejaculated semen enters the bladder instead of shooting out of the penis. This may impair a man’s fertility.

*Deciding on Treatment for an Enlarged Prostrate.*
Are you looking for ways to naturally get rid of an enlarged prostate? Do you have a long running battle with this dreaded condition? Look no further, as you have come to the right place!
The simple solution I am about to reveal to you here is effective, safe and without any side effects. This solution would not even dig a big hole in your pocket as it is not expensive yet very effective.

*Prostrate enlargement patients respond so well to these natural remedies.*
The American Botanical Council registers various natural herbal or plant extracts as a treatment for Prostate Enlargement and these ingredients and many others are now made available as Prostate remedies and numerous clinical trials reinforce their effectiveness.

One of such is the NeoLife Pro-Health pack. NeoLife Pro-Health pack has a unique formula which contains over 35 years of research into natural treatments for prostate problems.

I had an early miscarriage at 5 weeks two years ago and that was it. Fast forward to this year, I got pregnant again. The pregnancy is just 5 months old, so last week, I registered for antenatal. The doctor asked me to run some tests, after which it turned out that I'm rhesus negative while my husband is rhesus positive. the doctor said I will lose the baby since I wasn't given the rhogam shot during my first pregnancy. I'm very broken and hurt... pls I just want to ask the doctors and any body that has gone through this experience before, Now that I'm already exposed to the anti bodies, is there any chance for my baby to live, if the baby is rhesus positive?

I am also rhesus negative and God knows i did all the necessary findings on this just to be safe... Inherited it from my father.. It is not a death sence or sickness... But as a lady, if you find yourself in that situation is is best you marry someone with Rh negative or You need to be careful and conscious during pregnancy....Because it makes us prone to lot of things that leads to miscarriage....especially if the baby in the womb is Rh positive....

Health / 5 Moments For Medication Safety by healthpriority: 9:19am On Jun 06, 2019
Do you know the medications you take in?
Have you ever wondered why you take some medications and you react to it?

Please read this

I have spoken to some people I met using medications and I just ask them what they are using and all they tell me is the brand name of the product.... I then throw further questions at them and they just tell me it is because of a particular sickness... Doctor prescribed to them or a pharmacist gave them. Just to be clear I will even pick up one of the many medications and ask why he/she is taking it..... And the reply is "I don't know"
The painful thing is they might even be complaining of symptoms and don't even know if it is the side effect of the medications they are taking or not. Some even go to the extent of buying the same medication the doctor prescribed for them the last time they were sick, because the symptoms is feeling like it not thinking that it could be something else.... Some take overdose and tell you they want fast action, some don't take the complete medications, skip for an hour, a day or two and they feel it is OK. I know the country we are in and I also know some medical practitioners won't tell you the use of the medication until you ask them... So please let's try to be inquisitive here.... It is our health not theirs.

NOW HERE ARE THE TIPS[b]

1. Starting a medication
*Know the name of the medication and what the medication is for
* Know the risk and possible side effect.

2. Taking my Medication
*When should I take this medication?
* How many should I take each time?
*What should I do if I have side effect?

3. Adding a Medication
* Do I really need any other medication?
* Can this medication interact with my other medications?

4.Reviewing my Medications
*How long should I take each Medication?
* Am I taking any medication I no longer need?

5. Stopping my Medication
* When should I stop each medication?
* If I have to stop my medication due to unwanted effect, where should I report this?

Hello dear
Hepatitis C is a viral infection that causes liver inflammation, sometimes leading to serious liver damage. It is mostly transmitted through exposure to infective blood and this may happen through transfusions of HCV-contaminated blood and blood products, contaminated injections during medical procedures, and through injection drug use. Sexual transmission is also possible. Chat us up later today on the what's app link... Let's discuss further

Health / How Do I Know If I Am Healthy? by healthpriority: 7:45am On May 11, 2019
We all need a daily, well balanced diet for optimal health, feeding the body at cellular level. You need to properly maintain your cells with the right daily balanced diet. This includes the six major classes of food. You are your first priority and are responsible for your health. To give your energy levels and vitality boost, simply give your body the nutrients it requires for healthy cells.

But I ask myself... Is it possible to live healthy?
Is it possible to eat the required servings for the different classes of food?

My Answer is NO
What about you?

Then I thought again WHY is it not possible?

Now read through to see my REASONS

Firstly, with the development and technology of today, our ecosystem has changed, the soil has been depleted of trace elements and to make it worse farmers use chemicals, inorganic fertilizers and pesticides which reduces the nutrients from these farm produce.
Have you ever wondered why yam, plantain and some other food taste differently for the ones we ate while growing up
....Now you know.
Secondly, fruits and vegetables do not reach us fresh.
Storage and freezind also has done more harm that good to us...because nutrients are depleted.
The way we cook our food destroys a large portion of nutrient.... People tend to cook in place of steam.
We eat too much refined food..."we don't like stress is our excuse"
Smoking and alcohol also kills vital nutrients in our body.
Inhaling of Pollution and gases....especially those working in industrial area.
Refining and processing also has it own I.e preservatives, colourant, flavourant.
Aluminum cooking utensils depleted the food of valuable nutrients and is the major cause of memory loss or Alzheimer's disease.
Lastly, infrequent meals and fast food

After all this...I realised that it isn't possible to avoid these points mentioned above.

So As a nutrionist on the other hand, I always make sure

1. I Keep fit by exercising
2. I Try as much as possible to eat balanced diet ( to be honest, it is tiring..because sometimes the body wants what it want, and we skip meals deliberately or not due to work or religious believe)
3. I take some food supplement) depending on what my body needs

The question is how do I know what my body needs?

Good morning Nairalander's

Please I need the input of doctor's/nurses/anyone that knows or experienced this child ailment before to help save my niece cry.

Here is the details..

My elder sister who lives in the east gave birth to her 3rd child, a baby girl in 2015 but she was born with this unknown ailment. It usually starts from the hand, they took her to hospitals but doctor's seemed uncertain of what the ailment was, they also took her to some other places trying to find solution to it but to no avail. Within few days it spread to her nails and they subsequently fell off. One week later it spread all over her body that if you lie her on the bed she cries all time due to the pain and when u raise her up her skin glues to the wrapper used in lying her down. After days of trying to find solution with no success they were confused. Then one early morning around 4am the father carried her to ease the pain and make her to stop crying without knowing the baby was dead 10 minutes ago, it was when they discovered they wept and made arrangements and buried her in the morning.

After that, they had another baby and she was free from it.

Now on May 8, 2019 she gave birth to a baby girl (photo attached) but the baby was born with this same deadly ailment. They took her to FMC they said it is "epidermolysis bollusa". Please I need information from anyone who knows about this ailment and how to cure it, I don't want a repeat of what happened last time abeg.

Ighoga898:
Good morning Nairalanders..
sorry I'm here once again to bore you with one of the most recurring topics on Nairaland. please bear with me cause I would'nt have if it was not an issue of utmost concern to me.

I made a new year resolution to stop masturbation and all the activities that trigger it in general. which I have been able to keep so far. I know some would say I will relapse eventually as time goes on. But the truth of the matter is I don't think I will ever go back to it again because I have totally lost interest in it... I'm also using this avenue to tell everyone who is struggling to stop it that it can b stopped, and that the key to stopping it is to seldom do it.

My problem now is I had an encounter with a very beautiful girl yesterday. We went out had drinks(soft drink), went back home.
Then we got to cuddling, kissing and caressing. During this elongated fore play I could feel a little or no arousal.
Yes I had an erection but not the kind that could penetrate any hole. But to satisfy my curiosity I went ahead to penetrate, it was during my 10th thrusting(yeah I used to count my thrust during sex so I could improve the next time) that my dick went back to its default state. I was so embarrassed. All her efforts to keep alive the default dick particular through MouthAction were fruitless.

Now could it be that the masturbation I did over the years has had side effects on my dick and my arousal or is it down to any other factors?
I being one of the most healthy people I know, I would say I'm not suffering from any disease nor depression and tiredness from the happenings in my life. So I think incessant masturbation over the years has done more harm than good to my dick.

Please nairalanders if any of you know how this situation can be turned around naturally or medically should please say.

As I write this epistle now that same girl I had an encounter with is down on coming back to visit me again after I made an excuse that the hangover I had from the drinks I had the day prior to our last meeting was the cause.
Please guys help a brother out cause I don't want to fall my hand the second time.

Pardon my English and typographical errors..

And modes please help move it to front page.

Health / VITAMIN D: Why Do I Need It? by healthpriority: 9:36am On May 07, 2019
Vitamin D is so important that your body makes it by itself -- but only after skin exposure to sufficient sunlight.

The recommended daily intake (RDI) is usually around 400–800 IU, but many experts say you should get even more than that.
It's estimated that about 1 billion people worldwide have low levels of the vitamin D in their blood.

let us answer some questions

* Do you know that Unlike other vitamins, vitamin D functions like a hormone, and every single cell in your body has a receptor for it?

* Do you know that Dark skin absorbs less sunlight, so people with dark skin do not get as much vitamin D from sun exposure as do light-skinned people?

*Do you also know that Vitamin D deficiency has now been linked to breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, depression, weight gain, and other maladies? These studies show that people with higher levels of vitamin D have a lower risk of disease, although they do not definitively prove that lack of vitamin D causes disease -- or that vitamin D supplements would lower risk.

If Yes: what measures have you taken?
If No: Continue reading

WHY DO I NEED VITAMIN D?

Your body must have vitamin D to absorb calcium and promote bone growth. Too little vitamin D results in soft bones in children (rickets) and fragile, misshapen bones in adults (osteomalacia). You also need vitamin D for other important body functions.
The Vitamin D Council -- a scientist-led group promoting vitamin D deficiency awareness -- suggests vitamin D treatment might be found helpful in treating or preventing autism, autoimmune disease, cancer, chronic pain, depression, diabetes, heartdisease, high bloodpressure, flu, neuromuscular diseases, and osteoporosis. However, there have been no definitive clinical trials.

That's why the Institute of Medicine expert committee's November 2010 review found no conclusive evidence that vitamin D, by itself, offers wide-ranging health benefits.
Despite the many claims of benefit surrounding vitamin D in particular, the evidence did not support a basis for a causal relationship between vitamin D and many of the numerous health outcomes purported to be affected by vitamin D intake," the IOM committee concluded.

The only proven benefit of vitamin D is its role in helping calcium build strong bones. But that's far from the whole story. Vitamin D helps regulate the immune system and the neuromuscular system. Vitamin D also plays major roles in the life cycle of human cells.

How do I know I am prone to lacking this?

RISK FACTORS
1.Being elderly.
2.Being overweight or obese.
3.Not eating much fish or dairy.

Other symtoms of Vitamin D are: hair loss and impaired sound healing.

bros pregnancy induced stomach bumpI think is due to stretched muscles that could not return to their original size after birth hence women use girdle.
you are correct, but as of today most people with belly fat haven't given birth...and this is mostly caused by what we eat, inactivity and stress.

You forgot to add pregnancy related causes. If a woman fails to use a girdle after delivery it leads to stomach protruding.
no I didnt....most times people with big stomach after pregnancy didn't have flat stomach before....so it still has to do with this two I mentioned above...

People say one is Rich when "he" has a big stomach. But I tell you it is as a result of what we eat and do.

Belly fat happens for two reasons

1. Too many Carbohydrates causes insulin levels to go sky high.

Insulin = The Fat-Storing Hormone .
Lowering Carbs is the Surest and Quickest way to Get Insulin Levels under Control. If you want to lose weight, control your insulin levels. .
.
2. Stress

Your body pumps out Another Hormone called cortisol due to stress.Excess Cortisol is a signal for the storage of Belly Fat. Reason why you must figure out how to manage stress..

Stress is one of the four main "Horsemen of Aging"...which means that it contributes to every major disease on the planet. It some cases, it can lead to death. .
.
There are ways to manage stress effectively and get rid of belly fat; if you don't know how, look no further. We are right here to help

Health / Re: Please Help! I Was Diagonised With Angina by healthpriority: 1:48pm On May 04, 2019
Scorpiogal01:
Hello guys, please I need the help of a professional. Have been having this cough for days, which makes my chest hurt, I feel weak most times and it makes me really uncomfortable.

Decided to go for a scan today, and I was told I have angina disease, the doctor said I need to get my system flushed with some drips, he said the flushing would cost 130k.

He didn't prescribe any drugs I could take for the mean time, he said after flushing I would be given drugs.

Please doctors in the house, it's this the right procedure for this? 130k is really not at reach at the moment, and i would like to know how this works before I make plans for the flushing.

Thanks.

Health / Re: I Want To Know So I Can Take Preventive Measures by healthpriority: 1:25pm On May 04, 2019
SlimBrawnie:
Last week, I started noticing something like mosquito bites on my hands, with the way it was increasing, I assumed it wasn't mosquitoes, maybe ants but then both my hubby & baby have not experienced it.
So I asked google, different things came up but I strongly suspected Chigger bites cos I had gone to my garden to get some scent leaves twice last week before these things started appearing & I only notice these bites when it starts itching me, it will be red with something like a white/yellow spot in the middle, then when it stops itching, it becomes black. It moved to my laps and then my stomach.
I discussed with a nurse friend, she said it could be measles or chicken pox, so I quickly went to the hospital and explained everything to the doc. He prescribed "Funbact A, Erythromycin 500mg, and predensol whatever" which I got from the hospital pharmacy. The next day which was yesterday, I noticed two bites on my bum and underneath my boobs. Those were the last major once that came up.
I completely forgot to ask the doc what the problem could be so I'd be careful. So pls I need someone to let me know what could be the problem so that if there are precautionary measures I'd need to put in place, I'd do so ASAP.
NB:Since I noticed the bites, I changed to dettol bath soap & religiously use salvon during bath time, yet it continued.
Thank you
