If the river passes through non-Iboland, this whole charade is soooo dead on arrival! You think the natives of those lands will watch you cross their land, from the sea across their land to Ibo land? No fucking way is that gonna happen! Not only would you be stopped, but even if it ever happens, they can choose to dam the river at anytime, so you end up with a big hole or channel without water!!

you can't lay claim on a body of water flowing from another peoples territory past your territory,the banks of the imo river from obuaku to the atlantic ocean is mostly forest,so dredging the river doesn't inconvenience anyone.

It can accomodate large ship when dredged,right now it can only accomodate boats and ferries.that river is a great asset to abians and south east as a whole.

the reserve haven't been estimated but it has been proven to exist.

Anambra has the largest gas field in nigeria(according to geological survey) and a commercial amount of crude oil(194 million proven barrels and lot of uproven reserve)just take a trip to anambra east l.g.a for the crude oil fields and the orient petroleum refinery which is almost completed and anambra west l.g.a for the gas fields and and also ogbaru l.g.a opposite aboh in delta state for the unproven fields,shell is also building the largest gas plant in imo state due to it's huge gas deposit,shell,addax,agip and chevron also lifts oil daily from the state,techno oil ltd. are about to start building oil drilling machine in abia state shell is also pumping oil in three locations in the state with over 50 untapped oil wells.
NB:south east as a
whole has the highest
number of untapped
oil wells and fields in
the country.

I have overheard and encountered a situation where some people shouts 'we are rivers people' at any slightest opportunity,initially i thought the rivers people were a people who are united and share the same ethnicity,the first time i went to rivers state i discovered that the state has sometime in common with fuji house of commotion,all the ethnic groups there are enemy to each other,one of the events that surprised me was an ethnic group making jest of another ethnic group from same l.g.a because they couldn't understand what the other person from different ethnicity was saying,this happened in a market in ONELGA L.G.A,the market is close to the border with imo state,those of you who have been there will know the market am talking about.another is incessant killings between different ethnic groups in ONELGA L.G.A.The first time i went to eleme to visit my aunty who lives opposite the jvc filling station,i also noticed that the elemes don't want to be identified with the rest of the ogonis.another event was my coursemate who always shout rivers man,he's from ogba ethnic group in rivers state,when his old time friend from the same rivers state(ikwerre guy)who studies in unizik came to visit him in owerri,his look changed,he developed a phobia for him immediately,the same thing happened when another of his friend from the same l.ga but different ethnicity(ndoni to be precised)came to pay him a visit.from my dealings with some of the rivers people i have met,discovered that they have a natural phobia in them.
