PoliticsRe: How Did Lagos Cope Before The Construction Of Third Mainland Bridge by hercules07: 7:51pm On Jul 11, 2012
In the 80s traffic on Ikorodu road used to be hell in the mornings, it was usually so bad on the Jibowu to Yaba bridge that my dad would be reading his papers while driving (never liked that as I dreaded him hitting vehicles), the trains moved like clock work too, infact, whenever we went for center around apapa road, I will walk down to Iddo to join the trains moving at 2pm or 4pm from Iddo to Agege dropping on the way. The odd and even numbers also helped to decongest the roads, though people got around it by having the PRESS sticker.

FamilyRe: Grown-Up Kids Kick Their Father Out Of His House! by hercules07: 10:49pm On Jul 10, 2012
The man was gentle sha, some men will insist on the second wife being in that home, if they kids make too much noise, he will bring in the third one. Those kids do not have focus in life, instead of hustling to make it in life so they can take care of their mom, they are sitting down in their papa's house feeling like dons.
FamilyRe: Grown-Up Kids Kick Their Father Out Of His House! by hercules07: 8:31pm On Jul 10, 2012
The man should get the Police to kick the crazy kids out of his home, he should also go to the herbalist to get his wife so he can take her to a proper hospital for treatment, once the woman is okay, he should try to do right by her by sharing some of the gratuity with her, she deserves it. The problems between parents should be handled delicately by children, they can decide to shower more affection on their mum but they should not be throwing their father out of his own home, that is an abomination.

@Gbawe

I doubt if they have more than 40 laptops, they must have up to 4 different web browsers per laptop, that way they can have up to 120 accounts, I wonder how they are able to multi-task, anyway, they keep repeating the same thing so no biggy.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Robin Van Persie Will Not Extend Arsenal Deal by hercules07: 9:04pm On Jul 05, 2012
Just because RvP is ready to prostitute himself for the money doesn’t mean AFC has to. Just tell him now. No sale to City. You have two weeks to find a club abroad able to meet our valuation of 25million or whatever it is. If you can’t that isn’t our problem. After that window, preseason starts and we will not entertain an offer from anyone and you will prepare for our season. At the end of it you can re-sign or go as a free agent. Hope you have a good year or no one will be in the market. Source http://aculturedleftfoot./
PoliticsRe: Fashola On Lagos & The Economy - Live by hercules07: 2:23pm On Jul 03, 2012
Those guys assemble their vehicles, they do not manufacture them, cost is also important, I feel Lagos should buy some of those buses (even at higher costs) for some profitable routes as a trial to see how well they work.

PoliticsRe: Obafemi Awolowo’s Letter From Prison (dated 28th March 1966) by hercules07: 2:53pm On Jun 30, 2012
Dede1: You sound very pathetic with this post. When J. Isawa Elaigwu wrote “many people of Rivers and South-Eastern State origin seen dancing in Lagos and enlisting en masse in to the Federal Army”, he was not in any form of illusion about his assertion.

I guess you mischievously decided to play ignorant to the fact that Elaigwu meant Rivers State and South-Eastern State of the twelve original states created by Gowon. Let me refresh your memory for good understanding of the facts. South-Eastern State as referenced in the book morphed into Akwa Ibom and Cross River States while Rivers State gave rise to Rivers and Bayelsa States.

In addition, remember there was East Central State. Did you catch the dude’s drift? I suggest you drop the bull horn about the reference made by Elaigwu on the states.

Besides, it has been repeatedly rehearsed that not everybody from eastern region is regarded as Biafran hence the issue of betrayal.
Quit digging.

PhysicsQED: You are a complete and total dumbass. I don't have time for you again so I'm not going to comment beyond this, but I'll just state how shocked I am that you can even return to this issue after the correction you received in that other thread. It's really pathetic.
Let the CCB release the pieces of information to SERAP, the FOI bill guarantees it, we need to know how much the President is worth, we will be able to calculate how much has been stolen (if any) by me, SERAP should investigate the pieces of information once they get them to be sure that the guy did not include some future fortunes.

PoliticsRe: GEJ Is A Joke & Clueless - Ghanaian Prof. Ayittey by hercules07: 6:51am On Jun 26, 2012
PhysicsQED: What exactly is this infatuation with Nuhu Ribadu that some people have? Because he was OBJ's attack dog?

You know very well that I rarely intervene in the legion of back and forths between Beaf and his camp and oyb, dayokanu, Gbawe and their camp on GEJ, but I just can't stand such dumb criticism and that is why I jumped in here. Otherwise, I am one of those who has been sufficiently disappointed with some of GEJ's choices that I don't rarely bother to discuss him any more - even on the politics section.

Please tell me, why would GEJ drive into Maiduguri? What would be the purpose of going there? And if he were to go there, why would he take the least safe route to get there (driving from Abuja to Maiduguri) and drive 525 miles (a 10 hour trip) from Abuja to Maiduguri?
I am not infatuated with Ribadu, infact, I voted Buhari not him though I have sympathies for ACN, the president is meant to inspire confidence and to give hope, if driving into Maiduguri was the only choice, then he should have done it, I expect my President to lead from the front and to show BH that he is not deterred by their craziness, heck, world leaders visit war zones, why can GEJ not do the same in Maiduguri. The Prof. should not have called him of unsound mind, but, all other criticisms are justified, no sensible world leader will give that kind of media chat and expect to be taken seriously.
PoliticsRe: GEJ Is A Joke & Clueless - Ghanaian Prof. Ayittey by hercules07: 6:37am On Jun 26, 2012
PhysicsQED: I'm sorry but this Professor is just a dullard dressed up in fancy clothing.

He actually suggested that GEJ should drive into Borno state (to do WHAT?!) because terror attacks were going on there, rather than conferring with state officials and security advisers and officials at a safer place. I don't see the value whatsoever of going in there, but apparently GEJ actually thinks his presence there will show he is serious (or whatever other misguided and sentimental rationale he's operating under) about tackling Boko so he was actually considering going there.

The professor then asked why the Maiduguri airport was not functioning at the time.

Let's backtrack to September of 2011. This is one story about the Maiduguri airport from that time:

"The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has assured that the Maiduguri airport, which was shut down for renovation some months back, is ready for use during this year's hajj operation.

The NCAA disclosed this yesterday when the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, visited the airport to assess the progress of work.

NCAA director in the state, Alhaji Haruna Lawal who conducted the governor round the facilities, said the airport was actually ready for use, and that the management was only waiting for approval from the NCAA authorities and aviation officials who were expected to inspect the renovation before the airport was officially re-opened

He, however, noted the airport would need a 25 KVA generator to power the radar facilities and assured the governor that the painting of the runway would take only few days to complete.

Operations at the airport were suspended late June following cracks on the runway.

He disclosed that the maiden airlift of intending pilgrims for the 2011 Hajj exercise was scheduled for the first week of October.

Kashim, in his response, announced the donation of a 27 KVA generator and N1 million for diesel. He also directed the state fire service to release an operational vehicle manned by its personnel to the airport to boost safety readiness.

The governor also asked the ministry of works to release five tractors for the clearing of the airport even as he directed the commissioner in the ministry to commence the clearing of the hajj camp in Maiduguri in preparation for the October airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia."

http://allafrica.com/stories/201109140160.html

Note the parts in bold. The airport "not functioning" (as GEJ put it) is a clear indication that it's being closed for repairs at the time he was referring to, NOT an admission or claim that the airport is completely broken down and unable to be used. I don't know if it was in 2011 when GEJ was considering going to Borno or in the last few months, but obviously that airport has issues and needs to be fixed and inspected before anybody uses it. How hard is it to try and actually think about what is being said instead of rushing foolishly to criticize in an effort to look smart? Is GEJ supposed to use a CLOSED airport that's being repaired?

Ghanaians are fine, foreign criticism is fine, criticism in general is useful, but i don't like pretentious dumbasses.
Have you become a GEJ apologist? You are saying your President can not drive into a city? He can not fly in by Helicopter? Do you not find it crazy that airports are being closed for repairs, a whole airport o, not even runways. You said GEJ was the best that could be elected as at the time of elections, what of the other candidates? GEJ was the dullest, lets leave Buhari out of it, what of Ribadu? I have followed your posts on Nairaland and though I often do not agree with your sentiments, you have always given sound reasons for your opinion, but, on this one, I am dissappointed.

Eziachi: You don't give thousands, if not millions of people fake money from month to mont and nobody knew.
It was a simple scheme, as long as inflow is greater than outflow, the guy is in business, once outflow is getting close to inflow, the guy absconds, he was using other people's money to pay the interest, remember that deposit would have grown geometrically as soon as his credibility was established.

One month to mourn? I lost someone close to me a couple of years ago and life continued, the best one can do is to make sure their legacies live on.

Haters will always hate, the guy observed the official mourning of the dead and I am sure his staff in the CBN knows that he cares about them and their families, other companies lost staff in the crash did they stop work for even a day to mourn them? Life continued and they all continued working, as for those calling him a thief, we know that you guys will never like an aboki in a place of authority that is doing well.

PoliticsRe: Abiola's Family, Oyegun Express Shock, Dissapointment At UNILAG Protests by hercules07: 5:46pm On May 30, 2012
@Kobo

Let it rest, there is no mega business man in Nigeria that has clean hands, Abiola did some shady deals but he has atoned for it with the collapse of his businesses and his death. The action taken by the FG is inappropriate if the people most affected were not consulted, they could have named the Abuja stadium after him or even one of the new universities and there would not have been any problem, thank God they did not choose UI. Those who are castigating SW peeps are ignorant, we can see through what GEJ is trying to do and he has not even been smart about it, we understand the role MKO played in scuttling the ambitions of Awo but he has been forgiven and anyway he died in the heat of battle, that is enough to appease most people.

PoliticsRe: Buhari's Comments Being Probed Live On AIT by hercules07: 7:13am On May 23, 2012
Onlytruth: @re@lchange, please take it easy with our brother Eziachi. He is a BIAFRAN vet. cool
We treat Biafran veterans with utmost respect because they inspire young ones like us who may one day take up arms again against the incurable injustice in Nigeria.

@Bro Eziachi, sir I beg to disagree with some of what you said, like the quote below:

My brother as far as we know, Buhari won in ALL the CORE North, but he did not win in the south and some parts of middle belt, which is why he lost the election. In Nigeria, everybody rigs, and allegations of rigging fly around EVERYWHERE. I recall vividly that some youth corpers gave account how CPC mobs snatched ballot boxes and threatened them with death if they resisted. Some youth service members were even killed before the elections were over for standing their ground. So, everybody rigged.
The difference is that Buhari threatened violence BEFORE the elecitons, if the elections were rigged; but you are I know who the victims of the violence would likely be, and predictably, it was hapless Igbo living in the North that paid with their lives. When Buhari was making the threats, he either did not care about Igbo lives, or he was clueless about the enormity of his threats, or he wanted Igbo to be killed. It has to be one of the above. Whichever way, he is a bad sell to me as Onye Igbo.
I won't vote for Buhari, even if he is the only candidate in the election, and even if he is the only "HONEST" candidate. His honesty fell short when he disregarded Igbo interests (life and property), and even refused to apologize when he saw the deaths. I guess that is the point realchange may be trying to make.
Please do not come feeding us with lies here, the corpers in the north were used by the PDP to rig the elections that was why they were targeted by the mobs (I am not defending killing of corpers even if they were guilty of rigging), the magical numbers that came out to vote in GEJ in the SE yet did not come out to vote out Ohakim in Imo (89% voters turnout for GEJ and about 50% turnout for Gubernatorial), all the riggings in the SS and SE that were captured on youtube.

PoliticsRe: Gej Orders Agf To Prosecute Those Indicted In Fuel Subsidy Probe by hercules07: 6:58am On May 23, 2012
Halliburton settled the case out of court, Nigerians indicted did not, that one was covered up, Siemens wahala too has been covered up, we all know how these things will end, if the case ever gets to court, Justice Ministry will assign some incompetent lawyers to try the case, the defense lawyers will file some rubbish things, get bail for their clients and in a few months the case will be dismissed for lack of merit. GEJ, his Justice Ministry and the Judiciary are all corrupt, the few ones that are not are being kicked out and the case will never be assigned to those remaining.

PoliticsRe: Ghana Prevented Nigerians From Selling Generator by hercules07: 11:35am On May 21, 2012
I get tired of people saying whatever the price Nigerians will pay, that is a lie, Nigerians will only pay what they think is fair, people owe NEPA billions every year. The AES guy is also not a very discreet person, I doubt he will be welcomed by the Ghana president in future. The government has got to grow a pair to deal with the issues of power.
PoliticsRe: The Fraud Called Rivcloud by hercules07: 6:34pm On May 20, 2012
Cloud computing is the buzz word now, so everybody including state governments want to get into it. MTN have been running adverts on desktop as a service, I believe it is targeted at corporate bodies sha, but how they expect me to run my desktop over their shabby broadband links is still a mystery to me. The government should provide basic infrastructure first.
