Politics / Re: What Does OBJ Want From GEJ? by hercules07: 3:17pm On Dec 12, 2013
Bros stop all of this nonsense, if GEJ were to really deliver and not try to divide Nigerians along ethnic and religious lines, OBJ will not have the audacity to write any letter. OBJ deserves all the insults he gets for foisting a very ill man and an incompetent dunce on us, but, we should not lose sight of the fact that GEJ is totally and utterly clueless.
Politics / Re: Why Do Nigerians Always Blame The Leaders For Corruption? by hercules07: 11:19am On Dec 11, 2013
Leaders are meant to lead, that is the reason they are there, if they lead by example, others will follow, Nigerians are not the problem, it is our leaders. The attempt to pass off the incompetence and corrupt nature of our leaders on ordinary Nigerians will not succeed, the clerk is corrupt because he sees the commissioner and the governors being corrupt.

It's absolutely absurd. Something has to be done to correct that anomaly.

It is no anomaly, the reason SA is visa free to citizens of the UK is because they are not rushing in droves to the place, if SA sees that UK guys are coming to settle down in their country, they will change their entry requirements.

henrysam: How can your president be respected in committee of nations when we disgrace and insult our leaders on internet every minutes like something worst than this does not happen in other climes.
This is a food for thought.

Obama is far more insulted, leaders of other nations do not troll blogs looking for who is insulting their presidents, they have hard intelligence telling them about the cluelessness of our leaders.

Nigeria helped SA in the fight against apartheid, but, the countries that border SA sacrificed far more than we did, Cuba helped far far more to liberate SA than Nigeria. Our leaders need to look inwards and go with the saying that Charity begins at home.

Remove that Onitsha Owerri road, that was done by Obasanjo, as per PTF road in the South, I will mention one, Ibadan - Ilesha Expressway, infact, the Enugu - PH road was given out by PTF to Iwuanyawu but the guy messed it up, Universities in the South were equipped by PTF, Teaching Hospitals as well.

The Professor has asked some pertinent questions, the Northern elites need to do something about the state of affairs in the North, yes they are Nigerians and should be concerned about the whole of Nigeria, but, charity begins at home. The south should also take heed, we can not compare what we have in the south to those places mentioned by the Prof. we have our own vices that we need to take care of, in short, Nigeria needs capable leaders.

pro01: To be honest, this rentier 'capitalism' has got to stop. It is extremely damaging to the country, and has held us back from meaningful economic growth and development.

That is why it is hard to take most of these oil industry 'moguls' (including useless parasites like Folorunsho Alakija) seriously. It is extremely offensive to see these leeches prancing about and purporting to be exemplars of African business success. What business? Nowhere else in the world does government hand OPLs and OMLs to fools who in turn hand over the same assets to "foreign technical partners" or Oil Majors, and then sit back on their flabby asses to collect millions of dollars in rent daily, weekly or monthly as the case may be. The millions and billions of dollars milked by these parasitic rentiers would go a long way to help address our developmental challenges as a country. Why can't the government deal directly with companies that have the technical know-how to prospect, explore, and produce oil as the case may be? Why does an unproductive middle man have to stand in-between to cart home outrageous profits for doing absolutely nothing?

The whole thing has gone on for too long, and I hope someone would someday muster the political will to end this bazaar. Things just can't continue this way.

The guys who will do something about it will not be elected. The Government should be able to handle some businesses properly, not all should be privatized, I do not have a problem with the refineries being privatized but it should be transparent, unfortunately, this government does not do that.

I find it funny that Africans love Israel, the same nation that allied with Apartheid South Africa to invade Angola, if not for Cuba and Castro, SA will still be an apartheid nation till tomorrow. Israel is the US's military base in the ME, nobody is launching any nuclear weapons at them.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Iran And The West Reach Historic Nuclear Deal In Geneva by hercules07: 9:39am On Nov 26, 2013
Elliotwiz1: it seems you don't get the point. These countries have openly supported terrorists they fund them, arm them e.g Saudi Arabia if they arm them with guns What's stopping them from supplying them nuclear weapons and missiles too?? Did rebels not take over the capital of Somalia? If there were nuclear weapons there do you know the amount of damage they would have caused to neighbouring countries who opposed them? . . . . Humanity is at the verge of extinction now, if these weapons are not controlled, soon humanity will pass away. We'll know about the bomb of Hiroshima and Ngasaki, these two cities were Totally destroyed, imagine that such power is given to the enemies of peace, ''terrorists'' imagine that they have access to biological weapons, atomic bombs, nuclear weapons, chemical weapons, just imagine the kind of damage they would cause. This is not the time to take risks, allowing Iran run a nuclear program is a risk. The heart of men is desperately evil, anything is possible and i'm totally behind the US.

Please stop visiting all those ponkious websites, if there were nuclear weapons in Somalia, the Islamist rebels would not have been allowed near the capital. Saudi Arabia wants nuclear weapons but the US and Israel will not allow them have it, infact, I do not see you asking that Israel give up its Nuclear weapons afterall, Iran has not invaded anybody while Israel invaded Lebanon 3 times.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Iran And The West Reach Historic Nuclear Deal In Geneva by hercules07: 5:43pm On Nov 25, 2013
Elliotwiz1: how about the government just presenting it to them like a gift!! I hope you know a doctor who helped to track Osama Bin Laden is under arrest in that country, this is an open support of terrorism!

Nuclear weapons are not christmas gifts, no government is going to give terrorists Nuclear weapons, on the issue of the doctor, you do know that Pakistan's support for the US is causing a serious civil war in that country, their government have to show that they be seen protect their sovereignty, I am sure the US and Pakistan will work out something and the doctor will be released.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Iran And The West Reach Historic Nuclear Deal In Geneva by hercules07: 9:23am On Nov 25, 2013
Elliotwiz1: please don't want to start a religious war here, but i can't take that out of my point. Most Islamic nations have OPENLY supported terrorists, e.g Saudi Arabia, old Sudan, Pakistan etc. Terrorist in the middle east are funded by the government, openly or secretly. Now, if a nation is allowed to use nuclear power plants for weapons or other uses, what makes you think these terrorists won't have access to them? If these terrorists gain access to these weapons they'll force the whole world to become islamised, yes America has her own underground motives, but i still stand beside them because without America the whole world would have been islamised forcefully. You might argue that Iran wants to use it for a good reason, but what the world has learnt from the past tells us abuse is inevitable, once an enemy strikes them, they'll be forced to use the weapons and It'll lead to what everyone is trying to avoid.

How many terrorists have access to Pakistan's Nuclear arsenal, do you guys think a Nuclear weapon is a football that can be carried without being detected?

Just like Mandela, Emeka knew when to stop fighting and seek other alternative fights and looking at Igbos now and looking back at our state at the dawn of 1970, we shall ever be grateful to him for all his sacrifices despite his youthful mistakes. Cos I was there.

The Ilorin Emir is more Yoruba than Fulani, please read up on the history of the Yorubas. The Ooni and Alaafin might not see eye to eye, but, when it comes to outsiders, they will always close ranks.

I can go on and on . . . . . . .

ypocrite!
Is it not what your criminals and terrorist in APC do?

The President and his PDP goons have at one time or the other confirmed that BH members are PDP people.

1) Ever wondered why the APC states of Borno and Yobe remain two hotspots of Boko Haram killings

Boko Haram is a Kanuri thing, despite that, the BH issue also affected Bauchi and Gombe, two states governed by the PDP, intact, the volatile nature of BH started when Yuguda attacked them in Bauchi.

2) We were crying everyday about corruption in the Oil Subsidy regime, but when govt opted for an end to the subsidy regime, your thieving masters brainwashed you guys to go on a jamboree at Ojota in the name of protest

Removal of Oil subsidy that the poor enjoy is not the solution to the corruption in the Oil sector, Saudi Arabia sells fuel at 4 Naira per litter, how have they been able to manage that.

3) people of the SouthWest complained of marginalization and the govt favored a South Westerner Mulikat for Speaker House of Reps, your Asiwaju progretheives Congress betrayed their own blood and opted for a northerner

The SW does not vote based on the sentiment that she is our daughter, those who complained about marginalisation are the PDP people, APC/ACN voted for those who could keep the interest of the SW in the front burner.

4) Lots of imperfections were noticed in the Oil & gas industry, a Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) was forwarded to the Assembly which your men are sitting on till date

The people sitting on the PIB bill are Northerners, most of them are from guess which party, that is right, PDP, your GEJ should speak to his party people and fathers (IBB and Danjuma) to allow passage of the bill.

5) For nearly two decades, the entire country has been calling for a National Conference, the govt backtracked and offered you one, your hypocrites criminals then turned round shouting "no no no no it is not National Dialogue we need but Free and Fair 2015 elections"

Fake national dialogue that will be subjected to the same set of people who do not want it, why can’t GEJ organise a referendum on it instead of subjecting it to the whims of the legislators

6) Boko Haram were killing and maiming innocent citizens. Govt extended invitation to them for dialogue for a long time and they refused. During that time, your criminals masters were sponsoring propaganda of how govt is weak. The grace period for dialogue expired and govt decided to wield the big stick by declaring a state of emergency. Your Buhari and Tinubu became so pained, making it obvious to Nigerians that APC was behind Boko Haram activities.

Very funny, every man and his dog knows that BH is a PDP thing, unfortunately for them, they took on something far bigger than they could handle.

The president cancelled FEC meetings, cancelled an international engagement and sat at a rally where hatred and ethnic bigotry was being heaped on a region, the SW is listening and watching, the statement of Eze and Akpabio will come back to haunt GEJ in 2015.

the chosen one:

People like this agbemeta make me weep for Nigeria. why is it that no matter what our leaders do you'll always see people defending them blindly. agbameta believed the OP was telling the truth of 8.6billion and instead of asking questions of the governor he tried defending him. How can someone who isn't mad hear that a governor spent 2.4 million naira (approximately) on one laptop (8.6 billion Naira divided by 3600 laptops) and still try defending the governor by stating flimsy excuses like solar panel and e-books. do we blame this on illiteracy or what?? This is a major problem we have in this country. Akpabio can buy a bicycle for 1 billion Naira and still find people to defend him, GEJ can spend 1 billion a year on food and still find people to defend him, Fashola can use cane and chase all the poor people out of lagos (indigenes included) and still find people that defend him, Buhari can have a million innocent pips executed and still find people to defend him and then we say to ourselves that our 'Leaders" are the problem with this nation. Until we can free our minds from slavery we'll forever be slaves to these our leaders.

2.4 million Naira on a laptop and you still have people to defend you.. I thank God for people like abdH who went to do research 1st before running to defend such claims

(Everything said above is based on Agbameta's belief that the OP was telling the truth and not on the premise that the Op actually was)

I believe Agbameta took the default position that the thread was borne out of hatred for Yorubas (subsequent events have proved that), on the issue of a laptop and its content costing 2.4m Naira (not in this case), this is actually possible where intellectual property laws are enforced, the cost of the hardware is usually a small part of the overall cost.

utumunta: Hillary started her presidntial party primaries before president Obama. The latter was able to win her in a very shocking manner, owing to his oratory. She purposely rejected her re- appointment as Secretary of State because of her Presidential ambition. She would be counting on her husband's well oiled political machinery to get the ticket.

I doubt if she was going to win the general elections against the Republicans who play aggressive politics. Though her husband is touted to have the same approach like the Republicans of using the press and blackmail to bring an opponent down, I doubt if Americans will be ready to stomach the near- collapse of government that Republicans usually leave a Democrat president with.

Bros your submission is not that correct, the republicans are done for for a very long time, they are not winning the White House anytime soon, they have the issue of the TP to deal with, those guys are winning the elections for the democrats. Patryk_Utulu: COULD SENATOR ELIZABETH WARREN KNOCK OUT FORMER FIRST LADY, HILLARY CLINTON, IN THE COMING BATTLE FOR U.S. DEMOCRATIC PARTY NOMINEE FOR 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS?©
--Attorney Patryk Utulu

In Washington, DC [Capital of Capitalism and Global Economy], this – and variations of the same – pointless question is what passes for intelligent political conversation these days. The way the question is asked on TV/Radio/Social Networks/Cocktail Bars with smug self-satiated smiles, a visitor to Planet Earth would be forgiven for thinking that 2014-2015 [the two full years before November 2016 President Elections] have suddenly vanished from world calendar. This frivolous question is even more remarkable considering that President Obama was sworn in to a second term just this January 21, 2013. Yes, 2013! Not even a year ago and already the political/media game of whoz-d-next-president is in full swing?

Why?

Because in Washington, DC, political governance is dead! Washington, DC is in a viral political depression and is so paralyzed with meaningless distractions and deviously manufactured crises that the peoples' business is ignored and even judicial vacancies pile up because politicians won’t even bring up these nominations for debate, much less a vote. Because U.S. politics has become the last bus stop of politicians who HATE Government! Yes, you read me correctly: U.S. Congress [especially the House of Representatives] is now the career path of politicians who engage in zero-sum politicking, hyper partisanship, dumb escalatory brinksmanship, blatant character assassinations, denunciation of political opponents, racially-motivated birtherism, mischief-making and raw contempt for the American people.

The current Congress has the lowest approval rating in history at 12%. Some states are openly defying Federal laws and many State Legislatures mischievously make laws they know full well will be challenged (and ultimately defeated) by the Federal Government because the U.S. Constitution doctrine of preemption gives the Federal Government exclusive jurisdiction over certain issues. But the States make those patently “illegal” laws anyways, with the objective that even if the law is struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court, the law could still be used to create confusion, punish ideological opponents and ultimately serve the propaganda purpose of convincing the people of those states that the U.S. Federal Government is meddlesome, high handed and "foreign" entity that should be hated.

Once a politician has convinced people to hate their own government he can defund critical government programs he’s ideologically opposed to and then blame the manufactured "unavailability" of those services on so-called governmental incompetence. Meanwhile millions of Americans are jobless and homeless to the point where personal and economic insecurity have become the new normal in the richest nation on earth. And while gun violence escalates out of control and politicians undergo paralysis by analyses and U.S. mainstream media gets to be too cozy/lazy to investigate or comment on anything worthwhile [not even to challenge politicians who reject consensus/compromises that hitherto made governance possible and America great], the political class resort to burying their collective head in the sand by pretending that what is most important is who is going to be the U.S. president in 2017!

Apart from salivating over – and breathlessly reporting on – which movie star or starlet forgot to put on her underwear, the U.S. news media does little else. It takes the memory tricks of a griot to recall the last time a mainstream publication devoted two days in a row to issues of America's long term mass unemployment or dubious home foreclosures by banks or credit crunch or outrageous costs of Higher Education or termination of Nutritional Assistance for poor pregnant women or defunding of children’s food stamp program. Instead our media talks pure political drivel. I truly I hope this childish guessing game is a Freudian expression of our collective shame in our inability to govern ourselves.
See: www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/elizabeth-warren-vs-hillary-clinton-63029827612
Yes, visit the website and you will see a respected media outlet (MSNBC) boldly asking the same question “Elizabeth Warren vs. Hillary Clinton?” with the seriousness of an imbecilic child who thinks that peeing on the living room carpet deserves a lifetime achievement award. Such as shame!

What’s my view on a possible Elizabeth Warren vs. Hillary Clinton nomination battle?

My honest view is: Why fight each other for the nomination? Is Nomination process a school yard fight that must be ritualized every four years? For all I care Elizabeth and Hillary can toss a coin to decide who should top their ticket as Nominee/Running Mate. Why not? They are both eminently qualified. America is ready for women to lead not just from within the wells of the U.S. Senate but from the White House. It might even be fun to see two serious women working together to help Americans put food on the table.

It will come as a shock to the world that millions of Americans go hungry to be every night. Yes, MILLIONS! That millions of Americans are homeless and jobless! For while Washington politicians (that have $Million stashed in PAC Funds, and guaranteed Federal Healthcare, and fat salaries and corporate golden parachute retirement packages waiting for them) are engaged in noisy political posturing, even America's highly educated middle class is now frightened to death: frightened of homelessness because most Americans are just two pay checks away from being homeless. Frightened of losing their jobs the majority of which don't even pay living wages. Frightened of losing their marriages due to financial stress. Frightened of losing their children to gun violence because our gun culture is so strong it is easier to get ten guns than to get $100 loan from banks to start a business. Frightened of being gunned down by co-workers because a person released from mental asylum today can get his hands on a gun faster than he can get follow-up medical help for his mental illness…and, above all, Americans are frightened because of the God-awful realization that the way things are going in this country, this will be the first generation of Americans whose children will be less economically prosperous than their parents.

America’s current problems have been stacking up for decades. This president is cleaning up the mess but even a magician can’t it up the mess fast enough. In USA the tax code is so rigged with loopholes corporations can make $200Billions/year in after-tax profit but pay ZERO tax. Not only can they avoid paying taxes, they also get a tax refund worth millions of dollars. Whenever politicians make the token effort to "solve" the problems they start from the premise that they must cut-cut-cut winter heating oil assistance for old people and supplemental nutrition assistance for pregnant women and children.

Daily, the concept of American dream is being diminished by pointedly needless austerity measures in the midst of a soft economic recovery, salary stagnation, and ideologically motivated war on pregnant women, children, the poor, the sick and the elderly! What is happening in America frequently reminds me of two lines from William Blake’s 1863 Poem, Auguries of Innocence:
“A Robin Redbreast in A Cage”
“Puts All Heaven in A Rage”

Blake probably meant that humans have no right to hinder Nature’s course so Creatures should roam free. But it’s not Darwinian survival of the fittest where a prosperous society has no social responsibility towards the less fortunate. Free and stable societies have the unfortunate tendency of always being addicted to other peoples’ revolutionary violence. We see wars and political instability so many times in so many far off lands that we convince ourselves that we are immune from such instability.

The question we often forget – but one that should always whisper in our obtuse consciousness – is: what happens when America’s downtrodden masses can no longer tolerate the “redbreast” of opulence that is brazenly rubbed on the economic cage to which our indifferent society has confined them?

Please listen to the British House of commons more often, the opposition will do exactly what APC has done, praise those who actually worked towards it and throw in a sideways swipe at the government, the government in turn will bask in the glory and everybody moves on, that is the way it is done. The APC does not owe the PDP and FG any praise, they have put the praise where it belongs, that is politics.
