One more point on Iran, after Israel, Iran is where you have the largest concentration of Jews (not mixed ones o) and they are Iranians. |
Why will the President of a nation go to meet Babangida in Minna, he should have summoned the guy to Aso Rock with the Okigbo report in his hand. This Goodluck mumu small jare. |
We should actually give a lot of the glory to the DG of NCAA, he has been on it for a while, I was part of the Communication (as a sub sub sub sub contractor) side of the Certification project and I can attest to his efforts at making sure that everything went well. |
They are not serious, they should go and read the bible where it says they should obey the law of the land. How did they come up with the figure of 12 million sef? |
They should have brought him by road in a night bus. |
What kind of order is this for goodness sake, why not allow the EFCC arrest her and if she is not charged to court within 24 hours, her lawyer should bring a motion asking for her release or for her to be charged to court. |
You guys are taking Jakumo too seriously, he is just mocking Jonathan |
Sanusi was recommended to Yar Adua by Abdulmutallab Senior not Saraki, make una no twist the story abeg. Let Akingbola go and face the allegations against him in the law courts. Please help me ask him why he ran away. |
Anyone who listens to Star FM will know the guy, he is a PDP guy but he speaks a lot of common sense, his weakness is that he defends Gbenga Daniel a little bit too much, if he can walk the walk, he will be a good addition to the Senate |
Two sets of people that demand your respect, your partner and your parents, every other person must earn it. Husbands should learn to use their authority sparingly, I believe relationships differ, what works for one set of people might not work for the other. |
Igbawo ni oko yi ma de si naija? |
One small correction, NCNC was not Zik's, quite a group of people "owned" NCNC. I will like to get more information on this man as most of the time it is either Ojukwu or Zik that we read about on Nairaland. |
I do not see anything wrong with this. I used to work in an ISP where we had students from Poland coming to work for us, part of their expenses were paid by the University of Lagos (public money) and it was a good experience for the student and the hosts. |
@David, Small correction French is also spoken in Canada, please continue to lecture the agaba guy on why a public figure should be able to articulate herself properly. My mum did not attend Secondary school but her spoken English is probably better than mine. |
Puvguy:For you to be a politician you must be ambitious and power hungry, that is normal, it is what you do with this power when you get it that matters, all military leaders are dictators. |
@Topic Though I hold a different view from that of DayoKanu, I must commend him on the way he has conducted himself here. Now that that is out of the way, has anybody asked why Balewa declared a state of emergency for an altercation in the chambers? It is obvious that Akintola was the hammer that was to be used to nail Awolowo, he was meant to be a tool in the hands of the Balewa government to remove Awo, the only thing they did not foresee was the reaction of the Yorubas to their scheming. Even Lamido Sanusi talks about the schemings of the NPC led government in one of his articles. |
@Katsumoto And people wonder why we gbadun this man. Keep up the good work jare. |
ayinba1:Where in my post have I considered Awolowo as god, I saw him as human with his faults. I have qualified my statements regarding Akintola, if indeed he wanted to mess up the free education of his party, sent his son to eton and was going to introduce feudalism, then he was a traitor. Imagine an Are Ona Kakanfo trying to sell his people out to the North because of inordinate ambition. I will let the intellectual jibe slide for now. |
@Katsumoto I admire your patience, it is a great virtue. It is patently obvious that the original poster is trying to revise history. We the yorubas have seen the benefit of having Awolowo as a leader, we see the Akinloyes, Akintolas and others who had positions of authority and used it for their own benefit as traitors, they had the opportunity of being sons but chose to be slaves. We know Awolowo as a human being had his faults but as a leader, he was second to none. I never knew Akintola wanted to enforce feudalism but if it is true, may he rot in hell. Can you imagine the west as backward as the core north? Does the OP expect yorubas to stand up for such a man? The greatest equalizers in life are education and the internet, and Akintola wanted to take away the only equalizer of that time? Atun ku e lona Orun. |
Jarus:How did MKO play wiser? He was told by the Northerners in the Second republic that he could not buy the presidency. Yorubas vote in a bloc yes, but we vote for those who will look after our interests, (my grandfather in AG lost to an NCNC candidate in Ibadan probably because the people felt the NCNC man would protect their interests better) the Akinloyes, Akinjides did not achieve anything for the yorubas, their sole existence was based on stopping Awo and not on delivering the goodies for their people. PDP's rule in the south west has been terrible, imagine having AC in those other states, yes AC people do steal but development will be there. What has Kwara got to show for its national politics? |
This post is being used to malign the person of Chief Awolowo, Akintola was a political heavyweight not doubt, but he was too ambitious. We can now with the benefit of hindsight determine who had the interest of the Yorubas at heart. The alignment of core Oyo politicians ( I am an Ibadan man) with the North has not reaped any benefit for us, inasmuch as it is good to form alliances, those alliances should be formed on the basis of equality rather than Master - Servant relationship that Akintola had with the Balewa government. For people to understand the opposition of the Yoruba people to Akintola, we need to go back in history to how Ilorin was lost and how the efforts to get the city back was frustrated by enemies within ( a lot of the commanders that fought on the side of mallam alimi were strong yoruba warriors), Akintola cosying up to the Balewa Government in order to frustrate Awo had parallels with the Afonja (An are for that matter) betraying his overlord (the alaafin) leading to the loss of Ilorin. Katsumoto raised a point (more a suggestion though) about Akintola leading a delegation to Balewa or is it the Sardauna without Awo's knowledge, if that is true, he should have been expelled from the party a long time ago. |
@Image123 I do not take the bible literally and I refuse to believe ( even if stated in the bible) that a just God will equate a murderer with someone who divorced his wife and remarried. We need to apply context to what we do abeg |
Obama's Christianity is far better than the one I see here on Nairaland, reading his accounts of conversion and acceptance of Christ and the way he deals with it and his acceptance of other faiths is quite refreshing. We hear people saying that America was founded by guys from across the Ocean and on Christian principles, real bullshit, what happened to the guys that were there before the advent of the "pilgrims", it is disrespectful to the red Indians. |
I support Sanusi up to an extent, first charging should be by prepaid meters, two privatize but tightly regulate distribution, also augment generation (don't privatise fully), create local grids that will serve people locally and when there is excess, shift it to the national grid. People who want to invest need to take risks, not everything will be handed to them on a plate, there are millions of customers waiting for them. People should be careful when comparing telecomms to power, you can flash with phones, u can't with power. |
Image123:Bros you are comparing someone who divorced his wife to murderers? The word of God or the word of men? You actually take the bible literally? You do not think that some of the teachings are influenced by the jewish culture or the times? To you a bin laden that repents on the last day will go to heaven but a man that does good but remarries will go to hell? Nigerian Christians astound me. |
Abeg make una leave the guy alone jare, he has done more for people than all those people that call themselves pastors and elders. How many of those so called elders are pure, abi no be one of them die and we found out he had more than one wife? I have had reason to ask people to donate to an orphanage around Anthony area, the orphanage was set up by Ituah, how many of those elders had the initiative to do something like that, bloody pharisees and hypocrites. I do not particularly like the RCCG but when Ituah was a pastor there, he was one of the redeeming features of the place because of his works. If the Bible condemns him to hell for remarrying, then there is something wrong with that portion of the bible, he is a good man. |
Abeg small derailment on this topic, people always say the founding fathers of america are christians, abeg the place no exist before those guys from Britain reach there? Abi the American Indians no be people? |
. . . . and very tribal too. About 80% of all PTF(petroleum trust fund )projects under him were executed in the north. Besides even that his force may count for less in a democratic setting.
Bros, the man with the real power in PTF was an Edo man, he was the man in charge, Buhari's reputation was used to scare the living daylights out of thoses working for PTF. There were projects in the southern part of the country as well but they were mismanaged by the Southern contractors (ask Iwuanyawun) The Ife - Ilesha road was constructed by the PTF. Buhari is one of those that I see as being principled and I will like him to be our president. |
Let the guy take Commercial flight abeg |
Jonathan is just clueless. I remember some years ago, we (ISPs and Telecoms) were invited by the NSA and the SSS to discuss Lawful Interception, vendors such as Siemens, Alcatel and Ericsson were also there with the IG (Ehindero) and other Service Chiefs. The SSS director spoke about how the system will effectively checkmate kidnapping ( Scary Fellow - Kayode Are) and how unsecure the networks of the GSM companies were. Siemens conceeded that Ericsson have expertise in the area, Ericsson made their representation saying that most of the facilities exist in the equipment being used by the Telcos and they just need to activate it (pay Kudi), the only bone of contention was who will pay for the transmission to the two controlling centers (Abuja and Lagos). ISPs were to intercept traffic as well based on certain criteria, the system was meant to be a pre-emptive one to nab criminals before they act. The legal framework was pursued and I believe (not certain) that the National Assembly passed a law on this. The man who was the arrow head for this initiative and who made sure that everybody was carried along was the National Security Adviser by the name of Gusau. Jonathan has in his cabinet a man who can help solve this kidnapping problem; now is Gusau sabotaging Jonathan's effort (siddon look posture) or is Jonathan's default setting on his browser Facebook? |
The bleaching governor is about to organise another wedding this coming weekend and he is already spending the state's money on this |
Patiently waiting for updates later today |
