080Nigeria:
There is every justification for running away. Have you ever been a victim of the system? Do you know what it is like to be accused by people who want to silence you at all costs?

He needs to manipulate the media. Take a look at most posts about him even on NL. Most people have labelled him as a thief. It doesn't matter if he is one or not. In Nigeria, news like catching a rich man 'stealing our money' is what sells because it appeals to the poverty mentality of the average Nigerian. So far, he has been tried and found guilty in the court of public opinion. If anything, he owes it to himself to clear his name if possible and at least expose the crook called Sanusi.
Forget all of that victim mentality, people who were arrested along with him have been released and jejely going about their business. Why has he come now, was it Yar'Adua in his vegetative state that would have his time?
Culture › Re: Pidgin To Become A Formal Language by hercules07: 5:32pm On Sep 23, 2010
The easy route is not usually the best, if our leaders want to empower our youth,, I will rather they spend more money teaching people to speak proper English than to speak the pidgin version. We bemoan our students failing their NECO papers yet we are happy about the plan to introduce a language that will further corrupt the little they know.
Culture › Re: Pidgin To Become A Formal Language by hercules07: 4:36pm On Sep 23, 2010
There is everything wrong with this, pidgin language corrupts the proper English, I will rather will pick Hausa, Igbo or Benin or a totally different language to pidgin, imagine giving a presentation and delving into pidgin in the middle of the presentation

Our actions as humans are first and foremost dictated by a need for self preservation. If you wonder why he ran away, you must also listen to his reason for doing so.
There is no justification for running away, he should have taken his plea. He should concentrate on answering questions in the court of law instead of trying to manipulate the media. We hope that he gets a fair hearing as personally, i have no faith in the judicial system in Nigeria, as one professor said, it is easy to access the justice system in Nigeria but pretty difficult to exit.
Politics › Re: Ekiti Govt. To Generate $1b Revenue From Tourism by hercules07: 2:56pm On Sep 23, 2010
We need to start with internal tourism first, with the advent of this recession, those who were flying all over the world for holidays might be tempted to have their holidays internally, the important thing is to have it well packaged and at a reasonable price.
Politics › Re: Mass Failure In Neco Exams Again by hercules07: 2:51pm On Sep 23, 2010
The problem with pidgin English is that it corrupts the correct English, if students start with pidgin, they will have difficulty speaking proper English, left to me, pidgin should be banned in schools at all levels.
Politics › Re: Akingbola Petitions Agf Over N41bn Fraud At Intercontinental ! by hercules07: 10:15am On Sep 23, 2010
Akingbola did not do his case any favour by running away. He should stop all of this media war and answer the charges against him in the court of law. In a more civilised society, he will not be granted bail after running away.
Politics › Re: F.g. Approves Upgrade Of Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu To International Status by hercules07: 8:49pm On Sep 22, 2010
Simple mathematics says that it is not possible, if only Enugu Airport accounts for 30% of flights, that means 1/3 of all flights in Nigeria land in Enugu, they should stop that nonsense, that airport closes by 4pm to flights. Its number of flights might even be less than that of Owerri and Benin not to talk of Kano.

I wish there is a forum, say something like Nigeria Economic forum made of experts and economist where these 2 guys could come to debate their positions academically, and not cheaply political.
One will be quoting books, another will talk practically
Politics › Re: F.g. Approves Upgrade Of Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu To International Status by hercules07: 7:42pm On Sep 22, 2010
Where did they get the story of it accounting for 30% of total national passengers? Let the Government upgrade it to that status but they should stop telling lies about the percentage that flies to that airport. I doubt if it has as much traffic as Kano.
Politics › Re: Soludo’s Criticism Of Economy Alarmist, Says Sanusi by hercules07: 7:28pm On Sep 22, 2010
I believe Sanusi has responded appropriately.

Nairaland General › Re: Things Our Parents/guardians/elders Did That Was Wrong Back Then by hercules07: 6:10pm On Sep 21, 2010
Where do I start, okay let me start with my Uncle, kai, if he says Omo kan nibeyen (calling one child to attend to him), everybody shows up, when you want to serve him food, even if he is not there, you will kneel, when he comes home from work, everybody goes to bed and if you like be playing in the room, you will just see a tornado descending on everybody with cane, now he is mellow.
Now my old man, his own is simple, imagine doing something wrong in yaba, he comes to pick you, tells you that you will be having Six of the best and you cry all the way from yaba to palmgrove (only two of you o), nothing for you o, you must feel that cane, the first thing you get is the six of the best. He taught me English while in primary and secondary school with a cane beside him and on the balcony, if dem born you well, confuse first person singular pronoun with third person, na six of the best, of course he had a special table for that and special canes.
My friends were once caught in our kitchen frying plantain, come and see serious flogging, I parted my hair na serious flogging, omo as bad as I thought I had it, my younger sister surpassed all of my beatings in one year,now we are all married with kids and I can see what he was trying to do, just that his own was too much.
I believe it was a family thing for them, my aunt once beat her sister (grown sister o), omo I told my mum to take me away from the woman the next day.
Politics › Re: Mass Failure In Neco Exams Again by hercules07: 5:37pm On Sep 21, 2010
The problems facing the educational sector is multi-faceted, we first of all have to look at the people teaching these students, they are either frustrated University and Polytechnic graduates or NCE holders who got in with P8 in English and Mathematics, how can a dullard teach a dullard? It is only a tiny fraction that is qualified to teach these students. The other issue is the total neglect of the Primary and Secondary Schools by Government, I can not imagine what the syllabus is like nowadays, at least it does not cost much to upgrade the Syllabus, what of funding, zero. The third factor I see is the parents, they are helping their wards look for orijo (cheat papers), imagine that nonsense. Someone called in to a radio program and said that teachers are complaining that children dont want to learn, the response was children naturally are resistant to learning, it is the teacher that inculcates the learning culture in them. The fourth wahala is the students themselves, they lack any drive, they are not ambitious, they are just going through the motion, they will rather yahoo, yahoo than read their books, they will rather facebook than read their books. The fifth wahala is the examination bodies themselves, their questions are tailored towards cramming and passing, I do not know when last they objectively reviewed their content, also I was coming back from Benin one day and saw the vehicle conveying exams sheets involved in a road accident, the papers were strewn all over the road, the state of the vehicle left much to be desired.
The solution is very simple, make teaching a career where excellent teachers are guaranteed progress, make it difficult to become a teacher and reward appropriately, I believe teachers should earn more than all these customer support people in banks and telecoms, make the teaching profession attractive and competitive, spend money on infrastructure, enforce compulsory schooling, de-emphasise white collar jobs for blue collar jobs and revamp the bloody syllabus. There are so many things to be done in the educational sector, please let others contribute, my hand don dey pain me.

There is nowhere in that article where it states it is in terms of money, it just says percentages, can you please show me the reference, I am truly trying to get to the bottom of this PTF issue.
Politics › Re: Why Was This Man Smiling? by hercules07: 10:36pm On Sep 20, 2010

Also can we have the amounts spent per zones? Percentages can be funny.
Politics › Re: Why Was This Man Smiling? by hercules07: 10:31pm On Sep 20, 2010
@na_so,

Let us agree that he was lopsided with the road rehabilitation contracts (Buhari and the Executive Secretary), can you break down the Health and Education sector for us. The reason for this is to find out the Federal facilities in those zones versus the other zones before the contracts were given out, hell, can we have the same for road rehabilitation?
Politics › Re: Can The North Secede? by hercules07: 10:12pm On Sep 20, 2010
The North can secede and they will do fine, apart from agriculture, they also have some natural resources that are untapped because everybody is keen on oil. The ability of a nation to succeed is not only determined by your resources but also by the kind of leadership you can get, a nation with a leader who has the interest of the people at heart will always succeed no matter the challenges placed before them.

@Jarus,

Pat Utomi is a nonentity jare, he should continue to host the Patito's gang, he will influence more people that way. We need people like Fashola who know how to build consensus and work under difficult circumstances to be the President of Nigeria in a couple of years.
Politics › Re: Why Was This Man Smiling? by hercules07: 9:39pm On Sep 20, 2010
@na_so

The PTF awarded contracts in the south, the only problem was those the contracts were awarded to people who chopped the money, one of the PTF contracts was the dualization of the Ibadan - Ilesha road, that was a 120Km road awarded by the PTF to RCC. The man who really ran the PTF was a Benin man, why did he not influence more projects towards the south. I believe the PH - Enugu expressway was also meant to be upgraded then, but, the guy given the contracts did not do a good job.

I do not agree with all of these tests, but, if you subscribe to a denomination where that is the norm, you are expected to follow their rules or find somewhere else to go. What will be interesting is if the lady in question is the daughter of a Governor, who born the pastor not to wed the couple.
Politics › Re: Dispute 1 Of President Jonathan's Declaration claims- Inec Reform by hercules07: 7:44pm On Sep 19, 2010
GEJ is the least of all evils (if Buhari is not contesting), we know he is a thief, he knows he is a thief but his own thievery nefa reach that of the other contenders, the only problem I have with him is that he does not have a backbone, he allows things to take their course (like Gowon), if he has a fire eater for a VP, he will not last long. We are at a stage where we are making do with what we have, look at Lagos, we all know Tinubu is a rogue, but his own rogue still tries to do something for the people, the alternatives to him are far worse (imagine PDP in Lagos, nightmare), one day, we will take our destiny in our hand and say here it stops and no more.
Politics › Re: Adekunle Fajuyi In Our Hearts by hercules07: 7:26pm On Sep 19, 2010
Ibos dominated the Officers corps of the Nigerian military, unfortunately for the coup plotters, the middle belt dominated the rank and file. As far as I am concerned, Fajuyi o, Ironsi o, Yar Adua, Babangida, Muritala and so on were all coup plotters and deserved to die.
Politics › Re: Ilorin And The Crisis Of Fulani Identity by hercules07: 7:18pm On Sep 19, 2010
I did read somewhere that the children of the slave married to Mallam Alimi inherited the kingdom, I believe the descendants of the emir of Ilorin have had their "fulaniness" diluted, I believe they have more Yoruba blood in them that they are ready to admit (they still take their orders from Sokoto sha o)

Politics › Re: Adekunle Fajuyi In Our Hearts by hercules07: 7:59pm On Sep 17, 2010
Make una read naija history small, the guys that came to arrest Ironsi were more ready to kill Fajuyi than to kill Ironsi, they saw Ironsi as a weak man, but they saw Fajuyi as someone who was part and parcel of the January coup. The propaganda that Fajuyi offered to die with Ironsi is false, infact, it is more likely that Fajuyi accelerated Ironsi's death.
Politics › Re: Nigerians Are Equal Oil In Niger Delta, Real State In Abuja, Business the North by hercules07: 2:34pm On Sep 17, 2010
@Solomon

If we take Oil money out of Abuja, something else will replace it, probably not to the level of Oil money (due to the laziness of our leaders), abuja is the FCT and money will naturally flow from there.
We can not equate owning properties in Abuja to drilling Oil in the Niger Delta, most of the guys with Oil block licenses do not drill, they are just middlemen who sell these licenses to the highest bidder without sowing anything.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Politics: Let's Rise Above Tribalism by hercules07: 2:29pm On Sep 17, 2010

Politics › Re: Buhari Is The Solution, Not Jonathan - Rev Moses Iloh by hercules07: 2:22pm On Sep 17, 2010
The presidency controls 55% of the Nation's budget, if Buhari can make sure that the 55% is well utilized and he does not dip his hand into the till, we would have gone a long way in solving our problems; by the way, Nigerian democracy allows you to do all sorts o, if he is ready to incarcerate someone for ever, there are lawyers that will give him the low down on how to do it, just ask Al-Mustapha.
