The Anambra State Police Command has accused members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB of attacking its officers at their various points of duty in the state, Igbere Tv reports. A statement released by the command obtained by Igbere Tv says police officers that were sent out to destroy billboards, flags and insignia released by the group to inform the residents of the state on its May 30th sit-at-home order, were severely attacked by IPOB members today. The members of the proscribed group threw stones at the police officers, leaving many of them with serious injuries. The statement added the police officers were however able to over power the members of the secessionist group and effected some arrest. The statement in part reads; ” There was a report that the Indigenous People of Biafra came out in large number moving around with dangerous weapons and at the same time hoisting flags of the proscribed group on poles and billboards. Following the report, police operatives rushed to the scene in order to prevent them from mounting the flags but they engaged the police with catapults and stones. “However, 12 suspects were arrested and over 50 flags with different inscriptions of IPOB/MASSOB and Biafran Independent movements recovered as exhibits. President Buhari has said Nigeria’s diversity will remain a source of strength for the development of the country, Igbere Tv reports. President Buhari spoke on Thursday in Abuja, while receiving Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of Israel to Nigeria, Shimon Ben-Shosan. The President said Nigeria and Israel have enjoyed cordial bilateral relations, highlighting that many Nigerian Christians look forward to performing pilgrimage to the Holy Land in Israel,Igbere Tv reports. ‘‘I congratulate you on your appointment as Ambassador of Israel to Nigeria. Enjoy your stay in Nigeria and take time to go round to see the beauty and diversity of the country,’’ the President told the Israeli ambassador. The ambassador congratulated President Buhari on his re-election, thanking the Nigerian government for extending an invitation to Israeli Prime Minister to attend the Democracy Day celebrations on June 12. ‘‘Next year will be 60 years of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Israel, and the last time a Prime Minister of Israel visited Nigeria was in 1958. My dream is to bring my Prime Minister and President to visit Nigeria and for President Buhari to visit Israel. That will be historic for us,’’ Ben-Shoshan said. Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has raised alarm over an alleged plan by some people to cause crisis in parts of the country and accuse him of being responsible for the skirmishes, Igbere Tv reports. According to him, the plan, being planned by “unscrupulous and anti-democratic elements,” for coming weeks, was aimed at smearing his personality. Atiku made the allegation in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja by his media adviser, Paul Ibe. He said the strategy was for some people to be apprehended for causing skirmishes and be made to mention Atiku and some members of the Peoples Democratic Party as their sponsors, Igbere Tv reports. The former Vice President also called for the arrest of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, for his unsubstantiated allegations against him. The statement as obtained by Igbere Tv reads; “We wish to blow the whistle as an early-warning alert of the grandiose scheme being put together by some unscrupulous elements aimed at jeopardising the reputation of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar in the coming days and weeks. By the merit of what is beginning to unfold, there are plans to create some upsets across the country whereby alleged perpetrators of such crimes will engage in phantom names-dropping of Atiku Abubakar and some senior personalities in the Peoples Democratic Party. Already, we are abreast of some other plans to plant fictitious stories in some mushroom media outlets aimed at discrediting Atiku and his political party, the PDP. It, therefore, becomes preponderant that we alert the public of this demonic plan and to say that it will be imprudent to compromise the peace and security of Nigerians in order to score a cheap political goal. Towards this end, and for the umpteenth time, we call on the Federal Government to be awake to its responsibilities of providing security and ensuring peace, and to desist from actions and utterances that are capable of exposing our fault lines. It is very unsettling that senior administration officials, especially those who are the mouthpiece of government will make reckless but calculated comments to tarnish the image of Atiku Abubakar and government will sit idly on it. With the conclusion reached by relevant security outfits that there is no evidentiary proof to back the claim by Lai Mohammed that the opposition was planning to upstage the government, we demand that the information minister should be arrested for a breach of security and an apology rendered to Atiku Abubakar and the PDP.” Source; http://igberetvnews.com/710339/just-in-atiku-abubakar-calls-for-the-arrest-of-lai-mohammed/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Wednesday jokingly thanked President Buhari for not converting him to Islam, saying he has been attacked severally for associating with a President who many assumed was planning to Islamize Nigeria, Igbere Tv reports. Amaechi said this at the valedictory Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House Abuja yesterday Wednesday, May 22nd. The former Rivers state governor narrated how he was almost chased out of Christ the King Catholic Church in 2014 for supporting the president, who they alleged was trying to Islamise the country,Igbere Tv reports. “Mr President, let me thank you for not converting me to Islam. I say that specifically because in 2014 when I walked into Christ the King Catholic Church, I was literally chased out of the church as a governor because I was accused of supporting a man whose agenda was to Islamise Nigeria. And in Rivers state they began to call me `Alhaji Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi’. I thank you because they have dropped the `Alhaji’ and back to Mr Chibuike Amaechi,’’ he said. Amaechi said some persons initially thought that the president would be an autocratic leader only for him to turn out to be an “extreme democrat’’. “I was told in the course of the campaign that you were autocratic and therefore you would not be democratic. Most of us are not happy that you have moved from your autocratic nature to an extreme democrat that everything puts to test of the people, to the extent that the people now feel that the only way things can go on in this country is by the rule of law. “We all know that the rule of law is the beginning and the end of this government. Talking about the financial impunity that we saw before, people were making money without having any productive capacity for that’’ he said Source; http://igberetvnews.com/708084/thank-you-for-not-converting-me-to-islam-rotimi-amaechi-tells-president-buhari/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

President Buhari has said that the sweeping offensive against drug trafficking will be sustained by his administration in its second term in office, Igbere Tv reports. President Buhari said this when he received leaders of Nigerian Community in Saudi Arabia at the end of his Umrah trip in Saudi Arabia today May 21st. The president said efforts should be intensified to expose those involved in drug trafficking and illegal trade in the country, assuring that appropriate actions would be taken. The President said the recent exposure of a network of drug dealers operating at one of Nigeria’s international airports, who were discovered to be tagging bags filled with drugs in the name of innocent passengers, called for expansion of searchlights. He urged citizens to refrain from breaching the laws of Nigeria and other countries. “Every country has its own unpatriotic citizens. In China and Saudi Arabia, the laws are stringent on these things. Our citizens must obey our laws. They must respect the laws of other jurisdictions and if they don’t, then they should blame themselves, not the harsh laws that they meet,” President Buhari said. The President said he was grateful for the support and prayers of Nigerians in Saudi Arabia for wellbeing of the country, assuring them that his administration will do its best to secure the country, improve economy and fight corruption, Igbere Tv reports. “We have tried in the war against terrorism and citizens in the Northeast are our best witnesses. Agriculture is doing well, to the point that we are food self-sufficient, as a result helping the nation to save money on imports,” he added. On the renewal of his mandate for a second term, President Buhari said he owed Nigerians a debt of gratitude. According to him, “we are doing our best. I will continue to keep the trust of citizens. I am happy Nigerians have confidence in us. The crowds I witnessed in my campaign across the 36 states were not staged. No amount of money could have generated that enthusiasm. I assure everyone that I will continue to do my best. I will keep the trust of Nigerians.’’ https://dailypost.ng/2019/05/21/buhari-told-nigerian-community-saudi-arabia/amp/

The Kaduna State Police Command said the incident in which a man was lynched by a mob on Monday in Kawo area of the state, was not a kidnap situation but a case of one Alhaji Musa trying to escape justice, Igbere Tv reports. According to reports gathered by Igbere Tv, the said Alhaji Musa misled a mob in the area who lynched and set ablaze a driver alongside his vehicle in Kawo axis of the metropolis to escape being arrested by policemen from the Lagos state command over fraud. Reacting to the incident in an audio clip sent to newsmen late Monday night, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Yakubu Sabo said three others were rescued from the angry mob by joint efforts of policemen reinforced with army Personnel. “One Alhaji Musa who was granted bail for a case of fraud in Lagos, while attempting to escape justice, raised false alarm, prompting the mob to lynch the visitors who came in from Lagos at about 8:30am on May 20, 2019," said DSP Sabo. “Some operatives from Lagos Command came in respect of one Alhaji Musa in a fraud case. They came with some sureties who are his business associates who stood bail for him in Lagos. They tried to convince him to come to Lagos for his case but he was evading justice so they came looking for him in Kaduna. While the Police where putting together their papers, the three friends or sureties decided to track and put a tab on him. They met him and told him to follow them but he refused and decided to take his children to school. “While they were following him, when they got to Kawo bridge, he came out and started shouting that they were kidnappers tailing him, that was how the driver trapped in the vehicle was lynched. One of them was wounded in the head and fell into gutter, the other two escaped and were sheltered in a nearby filling station. “The police came later and rescued them but were resisted by the thugs who became agitated when the police wanted to evacuate the suspects. They started throwing stones at the police and the suspects and that is why the police had to use force to evacuated the suspects. “Normal by law, the police is saddled with protection of lives, and will not hand over suspects to mobs to be lynched, so with the reinforcement from the army, we were able to evacuated the suspects.” On the state of the suspects, he said: “One is receiving treatment in the hospital, while the other two are in good health. They have given statements concerning the issue, alongside policemen that accompanied them from Lagos.” Source; http://igberetvnews.com/700081/horror-man-lynched-by-mob-in-kaduna-not-a-kidnapper-but-an-innocent-driver-from-lagos-police/

Since after the general elections, a lot has been happening underground with party faithfuls lobbying for one post or the other, thus the Presidential Villa has been receiving entreaties from the high and mighty for consideration for ministerial and other appointments. While this is expected here in Nigeria as in other democracies, what has become disturbing is the emergence of certain persons who want to eat their cakes and have it. The situation becomes very worrisome where some members of a party work against their parties in the expectation that the opposition will win the election, and when their party eventually wins, they turn around to clamour for positions, like wolves in sheep’s clothing. These kind of persons appear to be members of the party in the open, but behind the scene they join hands with the opposition to run down their own party. In all considerations, this set of people are far more dangerous than the opposition because they often times have access to sensitive information and strategy of the party which, in their conspiratorial nature, make available to the opposition, to the detriment of their own party. What could be more dangerous? It becomes too disheartening to see such people running to the Presidency with a plea to be considered for one appointment or another. Such scenario played out in full during the last general elections in Abia State. It is a known issue today that there were so many betrayals in the party by some stake holders of the party. Most conspicuous is that of Prince Paul Ikonne who at a time could not even hide his romance with the opposition PDP. He was, no doubt, among the aspirants who contested for the governorship primaries in APC, and having failed woefully during the primaries with less than two per cent (2%) of the entire votes cast, he decided to involve on a derailing mission, with a view to sabotaging APC in the state. While other guber aspirants saw reason to join forces together in the interest of the party, Prince Paul Ikonne had other plans altogether against our dear party APC. The aspirant who came second in the guber primaries namely, Rt. Hon (Barr)Martins Azubuike, submitted to be the running mate of the ticket holder in the state, and the third in the context, Barr. F.N Nwosu (SAN), humbly accepted to serve as the Deputy Director General of the guber candidate’s Uche Ogah Campaign Organisation. Notably, there was no known rancour after the guber primaries as all others, pledged to work for the victory of the party in the state, except Prince Paul Ikonne whose intention was to do the spoiler’s job ab initio . At first, he was doing this clandestinely, passing strategic information of the party to the opposition PDP, and later, when it seemed to him his moves were not yielding much result, he came out openly to declare support for the guber candidate of PDP, while still maintaining membership of APC. If he had done this on his own alone, it would have been less painful. Rather he went as far as issuing an open statement saying that ALL the LGA party chairmen, stakeholders and party faithfuls from the Ukwa Ngwa area of the state had authorised him to speak and declare support for the guber candidate of the PDP, on behalf of APC. For avoidance of doubt, please see the link below: https://naijawatchdog.com/2019/03/07/apc-ukwa-ngwa-disowns-paul-ikonne-over-ikpeazus-endorsement/ This, in all intent and purpose, was a criminal act of impersonation, and an anti party activity of the highest order. The APC in the state, through its publicity secretary, immediately moved to dispel such anti party announcement and today Prince Paul Ikonne is at the verge of being suspended by the party. Despite that, Prince Ikonne remains unrepentant and defiant, carrying his shoulders high in his usual arrogant manner, in the belief that all punitive measures against him would amount to nothing because, in his opinion, President Buhari did a courtesy call on his father HRH Eze Ikonne during his campaign visit to Abia State. In Paul Ikonne’s view, President Buhari listens to his father and therefore nothing else matters. Further to this, he has often cited President Buhari’s comment during his campaign visit in Imo State as an excuse to perpetuate such hideous crime. In Prince Ikonne’s dubious interpretation of President Buhari’s comment in Owerri, the president had authorised any APC person who wished to support any guber candidate from another party to do so without any qualms. But every body knows that President Buhari in his honest comments never said or meant anything like that in any way. It has now come as a shock to the good people of APC in the state to hear that Prince Paul Ikonne is equally lobbying through his father HRH Eze Ikonne, and is expecting to be given a ministerial appointment! This is as ridiculous as it is appalling. If somebody of Prince Paul Ikonne’s person is given a ministerial appointment for Abia slot by the President, it means then that rascality has become officially enshrined in our dear party APC. There are so many worthy Abia personalities who are eminently qualified to serve as minister, those who laboured tirelessly for the success of the party in the last general elections, and who before then have been mobilising at all fronts for the party. What Prince Paul Ikonne has always done for Abia APC is to cause disunity by among other things, insisting on maintaining a faction with Chief Ikechi Emenike, in flagrant disobedience to the party, both at the state and National level. A mention of Prince Ikonne’s name today brings to mind of every Abia APC person someone whose stock in trade is to cause confusion and disharmony. No doubt Prince Paul Ikonne purchased the APC form for the guber primaries in Abia, just like about six others, but aside that, there was nothing more anyone can remember of him other than someone who derives joy in making sure that something does not go in an orderly manner . Abians have not forgotten his attempt to deceive the party before the guber primaries, when he went on saying that President Buhari had ordered that he be given the party ticket without any competition. In this mischief, he simply relied on an innocent photo President Buhari took with him while he was holding the APC guber form. If purchasing the guber form is a criterion for ministerial appointment, then Abia APC has qualified, intelligent and credible professionals who not only purchased the guber form and contested elections in the state, but were genuine, true and committed in the exercise, incurring a lot of material costs in the process. If this class of people are ignored and someone like Prince Paul Ikonne is appointed a minister by the President, then it will be too bad not only for our dear party APC, but for humanity in general, as a very distasteful precedence must have been set by our dear President. It is believed that the Presidency will do enough due diligence on potential appointees in order to properly determine who is actually who. The only factor Prince Paul Ikonne is relying on in his expectation of being appointed a minister is his father’s relationship with President Buhari, beside that, there is nothing positive one can find about him as to qualify him to handle such an exalted position in Nigeria. And it is the belief of every Nigerian that President Buhari, being a man of integrity he is, will not sacrifice the interest of the generality of the people just to please one man. No one can stand against President Buhari in his wish to recognise or appoint any of his friends or their kin based on personal relationship, however it is a plea to the President not to appoint Prince Paul Ikonne a minister because it is such a huge and significant position that everybody is sure will be flagrantly abused by him, to the detriment of not only the ministry but Abians and Nigerians in general. There must be other ways the president can recognise HRH Eze Ikonne, if he wishes to, other than appointing his son Prince Paul Ikonne a minister. It is believed that President Buhari in his usual meticulous manner will not make this mistake.
