In a historic first, Malaysia’s king, Sultan Muhammad has abdicated ending weeks of speculation about his future after he took medical leave and reportedly married a Russian ex-beauty queen, IgbereTv News report. The 49-year-old ruler had resigned as Malaysia's 15th king with immediate effect, cutting short his five-year term. It is the first abdication in the nation's history and no reason was given in the statement. Sultan Muhammad V, ruler of north-east Kelantan state, took his oath of office in December 2016, becoming one of Malaysia's youngest constitutional monarchs. He is said to have married a 25-year-old former Russian beauty queen in November while on a two-month medical leave. Reports in Russian and British media, as well as on social media, featured pictures of the wedding, which reportedly took place in Moscow. Neither the sultan, the palace, nor the Government had officially confirmed the wedding. Speculation that Sultan Muhammad V would step down emerged this past week, shortly after he returned from his leave, but Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on Friday that he was unaware of any abdication plans, IgbereTv News report. Under a unique system maintained since Malaysia's independence from Britain in 1957, nine hereditary state rulers take turns as the country's king for five-year terms. The Council of Rulers is expected to meet soon to pick the next king. The monarch's role is largely ceremonial, since administrative power is vested in the prime minister and parliament. However, the monarch is highly regarded, particularly among the ethnic Malay Muslim majority, as the supreme upholder of Malay tradition, IgbereTv News. http://igberetvnews.com/515189/unbelievable-malaysias-king-abdicate-the-throne-to-marry-russian-beauty-queen/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

A heartbroken Nigerian lady identified as @thesimesty on Twitter has taken to the micro-blogging platform to share how her mother was shot dead by armed robbers on New Year’s day, IgbereTv News reports. Read her Heartbreaking tweets below; "January 1, 2019. I saw my own mother get shot at. I saw her in a pool of her own blood. I saw the armed robbers rough handle my father and all I could do was scream. Under the cover of festivity and firework sounds, my mum was murdered on New Years day. My dad was admitted and so was I. 2019 has started on the worst note ever. My hero and life giver has fallen. The robbers took all working devices in the house and it was too late to call for help. My dad's birthday was yesterday. I've never seen him cry but I did this year January 1st can never be a happy day for me anymore. It will always be a reminder of what has been taken from my dad and siblings. This heartbreak is too much for me. It is still like a bad dream. A nightmare ", IgbereTv News. http://igberetvnews.com/514098/cruelty-nigerian-lady-recounts-how-armed-robbers-killed-her-mom-on-new-years-day-photos/

The National Identification Number (NIN) consists of 11 unique numbers randomly chosen and assigned to every citizen and legal resident from age 0 at the completion of enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB), IgbereTv News report. The NIN is used to tie all records about an individual in the database and is also your personal identifier; you will need to use it for many other transactions -- basically anything that involves a credit check or background check. IgbereTv list presents to you the benefit of the NIN to an individual: It helps provide accurate records about actual living/dead persons in every region of the country It helps keep track of actual transactions as well as movement of people within and out of the country It helps confirm which individuals are in actual need of particular Government services, e.g. age and retirement confirmation for pensioners. When it comes to access to vital services (passport issuance, banking services, land transactions, insurance services, pension, health insurance, payment of taxes, voter’s registration, consumer credits, and all Government services), your NIN becomes necessary for: cutting down the time needed for verifying documents to properly identify you in order to access the services you require reducing errors in allocation of services to the right people prevention of fraud (419) where someone else impersonates you verification of the real identity of other people you go into financial or business transactions with or even people you wish to employ such as house help ensuring you are properly identified when receiving health services, e.g. verifying the actual blood types of blood donors at hospitals Verification of voter eligibility during elections. Even outside the country, your NIN remains valuable whether you are travelling or are part of the Nigerian diaspora: You can easily identify yourself with other proud Nigerians abroad The Nigeria Government would have more accurate statistical data of its citizens living abroad, useful for harnessing more skills and talent. Identity verification using the NIN would enable easier discovery of relatives and friends worldwide Senders and receivers of money and goods/services can be identified, verified and traced as needed, enabling secure international transactions. http://igberetvnews.com/514066/benefit-of-national-identification-number-nin/

The 43-year-old Islamic cleric, Abdulsalam Salaudeen, who was arrested by the Lagos state police command for allegedly raping a five-year-old Arabic schoolgirl, says his enemies made him commit the crime, IgbereTv News reports. Recall that Salaudeen was on December 28th 2018, caught on camera having anal sex with a 5-year-old girl that was attending his Arabic classes on Awoyemi Street, Igando Road. Speaking to newsmen, Saludeen who is a father of five, buried his head in shame as he recounted how he fought with the devil before sexually assaulting the little girl “It is the work of the devil. I have been living in Lagos for 25 years. I have a wife and five children. My wife and three of the children live with me. My wife does not deny me of sex. The girl was brought for Arabic class about five months ago. On that day, I asked her to go and sweep a section of the class. The place was separated by a wall and I followed her. I asked her to stand on a bench and face the wall. I rolled up her skirts and removed her panties. As I wanted to penetrate her from the anus, I said ‘aausubillahi, aausubillahi (God forbid)’. It was the devil that pushed me to it. My penis only grazed her private parts. “While I was living in Ikotun, I was accused of raping one of the children attending my class. But I did not rape the girl. She needed a uniform we used in the class and I took her to a tailor to take her measurements. I have been battling with spiritual wars since then. My enemies are many and they have been casting spells on me. I relocated to Igando and started a new Arabic class.” he said Salaudeen would be charged to court soon, IgbereTv News report. http://igberetvnews.com/513745/i-was-under-enemies-spell-cleric-who-rp3d-5-year-old-girl-in-lagos-says/

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has endorsed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, as its most preferred candidate in the forthcoming 2019 general elections, Igbere TV News can authoritatively report today. This was as President Muhammadu Buhari played host to the student union leadership on Thursday at the State House, Abuja. The meeting believed to be at the instance of the President, to deliberate on how to put an end to the ongoing ASUU strike, however turned out to be a mere endorsement party as the NANS President, Comrade Danielson Bamidele Akpan, openly pledged twenty (20) million votes for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general elections, thereby putting an end to the age-long insinuations that the present NANS executive is an extended arm of the Buhari government. In a clip obtained by Igbere TV News correspondent on Friday, the NANS President also castigated the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) describing their industrial action as politically motivated. He said: “...These are some of the issues that the general public are using to assess your government — especially at electioneering period like this. They don't know exactly the truth, some of us are privileged to know the truth. We know exactly what is happening. We know that ASUU is being economical with the truth. We know, without fear or favour, that they are being hypocritical.” While calling on the President to intervene on the ongoing ASUU strike, the NANS President assured him of the support of the Nigerian students as he strives towards deepening the change agenda. “This constituency (NANS) has large population numbering about 80 million. I can assure you today that if this constituency is well utilized, we will pull nothing less than 20 million votes for you,” he said. The leadership of the Nigerian students used the opportunity (of the visit) to present a birthday card to the President on his 76th year anniversary, while wishing him a peaceful and successful election next month. The actions of the student union leadership has since generated negative comments on social media. While many accused them of being hypocritical, others have accused them of romancing with the present administration even while the students they ought to represent have been at home for over six weeks owing to the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by ASUU. “I can assure you that the present NANS is an arm of the Buhari-led government. How can a landlord whose house is on fire be running after shadows?. The present NANS leadership are out to represent their pockets and not the interest of the Nigerian students, if only they are students of history, they won't be behaving like this,” a student told Igbere TV News correspondent. Another student lamented the pains she had been through due to the strike action, and wondered why NANS are busy endorsing candidates even after openly declaring that NANS is non-political. “I think it is NANS that is being economical with the truth here. How can NANS of all people endorse Buhari and openly castigate ASUU?. It is now visible to the blind that these current NANS leadership are nothing but money-bag politicians. While we are at home for months, NANS are busy parading themselves as students representatives. Who are they representating? Their pockets of course.” A student who chose to remain anonymous, similarly condemned the actions of NANS, while calling on them to retrace their steps before it is too late. “NANS should apologize to the Nigerian students and ASUU, they are on their own and not speaking for us. I learnt the President gave them huge sum of money to protest against ASUU instead of his government. Lets wait and see how their proposed Jan. 7 mass action turns out. They should better go and arrange for rented crowds, no genuine student would protest after all these. Again, until we start electing current first degree students as NANS executive, we would never get it right.” Credit: Igbere TV News http://igberetvnews.com/510370/breaking-2019-nans-endorses-buhari-pledges-20m-votes/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique
