Crime › "We'll Make Sure More Corrupt Persons Are Jailed This Year" - EFCC Vows by HeWrites(op): 5:25pm On Jan 03, 2019

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr . Ibrahim Magu, says the EFCC is committed to ensuring that more corrupt persons are jailed in 2019.

The EFCC boss was quoted as saying this in a statement signed by its spokesman, Mr. Tony Orilade, on Thursday, IgbereTv News reports.

Magu said the anti- graft agency secured the conviction of 312 persons in 2018 and the agency was targeting double of this figure (624) in 2019.

He said the Commission was committed to intensifying its efforts in order to ensure that it secures more convictions in 2019.

“With 312 convictions in 2018, we are strategising to redouble our effort in 2019, as part of our concerted efforts aimed at ensuring that the negative narrative of pervasive corruption in the system is changed for the better , and the perception that some persons are above the law, remains altered,” he said.

Magu who was speaking to officers while on a working tour to the Lagos office of the commission, on January 3, 2019, noted that the EFCC had already secured three convictions in 2019, which he described as a good start.

“The commission shall continue to rid the country of economic and financial crimes and effectively coordinate the domestic efforts of the global fight against money laundering and terrorism financing,” he added.

Magu stressed that the EFCC remains committed to carrying out its duties “in conformity to best international practice within the ambit of the Law”.

While commending the exemplary leadership of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, for the success recorded in the past year, he stressed that the Judiciary remains key to winning the corruption fight.

The EFCC boss said, “Let us have it at the back of our minds that we are only prosecutors; without the support of the Judiciary, led by the CJN and other heads of courts across jurisdictions, we could not have been able to achieve the much we did in 2018.

Therefore, to be able to double that feat in 2019, let us know that we cannot do without the judiciary”

He further called for the unalloyed collaboration of other stakeholders, and urged Nigerians to be “more dedicated and determined in reducing corruption to the barest minimum”.

“Those who stole our commonwealth should know that there is no hiding place for them. A high tension searchlight is being beamed on them, it is in their interest to surrender because the game is up", IgbereTv News report.

Crime › Man Assisting Bank Customer To Withdraw At ATM Absconds With N10,000 by HeWrites(op): 4:46pm On Jan 03, 2019

Drama occurred at a First Bank branch at Orie Agu in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State on Thursday after a man in his late 20 s escaped with the money meant for a woman he assisted to operate an ATM.

The woman, said to be about 55 years old, had approached the young man to assist her in withdrawing money from the ATM using her card.

The woman had asked the man to help her withdraw N60, 000, but instead, the suspect withdrew N70, 000.

A source told IgbereTv that “A woman had approached the ATM point and asked a young man on the queue to assist her withdraw N 60, 000. She did not know how to operate the ATM.

“However, instead of withdrawing N60, 000 as instructed, the man withdrew N70, 000.

“He gave N60, 000 to the woman and left immediately without doing his own transaction.

The source said that the woman quickly raised the alarm, but the man was not found.

A staff of the bank urged people to approach bank ’ s security personnel to assist them, instead of giving their ATM cards and PIN codes to strangers.

He said it was dangerous, adding that the bank would not be held responsible for any loss.

But links with the .com are allowed on those pages.

Maybe they don't accept a url with .net domain extension.

I met this cacausian lady I really do love,and she does love me too,we see a future together and most tines,share jokes about how we will live after marriage, she was offered an admission in another state after waiting for years for it but she is reluctant to take it as it will take her far away from me even tho I have promised to visit her often,she is bent on staying back in Lagos.

Now,meeting this lady has also influenced the urge to stay back and start up something in Nigeria, but I also really feel like the grass will be greener over there as I have been told by friends over there, that IT and any technical experience pays well there as there are opportunities.
