from pictures on the wall, to movies and books, the rendition of Jesus is always a handsome light skinned man, not black obviously, with beard all over his face and long feminine looking hair which i can't even boast of as a lady, If you grew up in a religious Home you can relate to this, im sure there's no photograph or portrait of Jesus when he was on earth, so How did they know what he looks like?
well, someone started it and the others took to it, just a general view of how those who hail from the town Jesus came. it's just like Chinese, they look alike kinda, just saying. I don't believe those pictures and its funny some hang and buy them in their house. I won't even paste such pics on my Facebook and I might block whoever tags me with such pictures.

Interesting. That means Paul was teaching them how to get saved right? And not how salvation by grace alone happens?

If it's the former, like you mean and from what I got from your posts, it means you got saved by yourself and salvation cannot be the sole work of God.

And if it's the latter, it means Paul was still maintaining salvation is by grace but telling believers how this type of salvation happens i.e starts from God giving a man a new heart to believe completely and then he inevitably confesses and is declared saved.

I was just looking at context
I think we have both talked about this subject of grace on many occasions, the question is, should I do it again in other to prove a point I have tried to prove overtime.

If I believe, [faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God] and I confess haven believed and I call, i shall be saved.

who is grace? Jesus

what did I believe in? that Jesus died for my sin that i might have life more abundantly.

If I do not believe, I would not confess.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

only those who believe are saved

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

I think this understanding would get anyone saved compare to teaching grace, but lemme ask, define grace according to the Bible, as your often emphasis on Eph2:8, but like I would always say. Grace is Jesus Christ and like I will also say also, like scriptures says in 2 Corinth 13:1. in the mouth of two or three witness shall every word be established. I think two or three verses would be good in your explanation of what grace is.

Well, I will disagree with you if you say grace is what we don't deserve, by the way, what's your definition for salvation. Do you mean total salvation when the person is very perfect or salvation as in at the point of repentance if you believe in that.

I think this would be the last time we would be having this conversation.

I would show you links where we have had talks as this before

So Hier you are saying you got saved by giving your life to Christ?
I was saved according to this verses

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

If you disagree, point me wrong

That Jesus Christ is a human being and a god at thesame time- John 10:30

If Jesus Christ is the mother of God(Jesus Christ) who then created Mary?
About who created who. Lemme ask, who owns the child, the Father or the mother and who's the Father of Jesus. Well, my answer is God. if God is the Father, then we call Jesus the Son of God and if He was born by Mary, we call Him Son of man and about a man dying or not being able to die for another.

Jesus is not fully a man. Even the birth of Jesus explains that, God made Mary pregnant with Jesus. So, we believe, God is the Father side to Jesus, meaning, Jesus had a part of Him that is not man, and it was not that part that was man that saved man, it was the spiritual side that brought salvation.

Heb2:14-15 shows what Jesus did by His spirit, flesh or man can't do that. thanks

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Through death, it was the spirit that God breathed on Mary that could have been alive with the ability to destroy the devil who was death himself

Christianity EtcRe: Why Did Elijah Have To Come Back And Die Naturally? by Hier(m):
That of Elijah was prophesied.

Mal4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Watch the sequence
Luke Chapter 1
13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and 10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? 14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. 15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Finally, after the death of John, see what Jesus said.

Matthew 17
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why ten say the scribes that Elias must first come? 11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first- come, and restore all things. 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. 13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

From the above, its called prophecy fulfilixoux

As concerning Enoch, no prophecy was made, not in old or new testament. My point is Elijah has come and has died as John the Baptist Matt 17:12-13

No prophecy, No manifestation

Amos 3: 7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

There is a man for every woman and a woman for everyman.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all b the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Jesus came back and said, the same thing,
Matthew 19:4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made a them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ b 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’  ?
and God cannot lie

It says male not males and it says female not females, Muslims ladies dress decently and they get married. Even with their coverings, they still get married. I think the church is quiet on this matter and they need to educate boys and girls aright on relationship matters

Ever wondered why some born-again ladies who are really serving God aren’t married?

They attend church activities regularly, always with Holy bible or spiritual book in their hand bags, always dressed properly, prayer warrior even to the point that all her neighbors hears her during night or early morning prayer yet the lady is in her late 30s or early 40s no husband, not even a fellow church or Christian brother to marry her?

Well from my observation; let me write some of the sure reasons why some of our holy sisters are finding difficulties to get married in their late 30s or early 40s when most of their perceived worldly, indecent, carnal-minded ladies are getting married in their mid 20s and late 20s.

- Born again ladies too scary and embarrassing for most men to approach: Yes they are insulting, I recall when a born again lady once slapped a man in the public because the man touched her politely. This set of ladies scared away potential husbands when they were young with their over serious attitudes. They have the set or standard of men they considered the kind of men they can grant audience and their principles and standard must be met by any man that should talk to them and believe me some of them have more than 50 principles and standard a man has to attain before they grant the man an audience.

Let me talk about some of their standards that makes them send men away;

- Firstly, He must be a God-fearing man (this God fearing man is what I don’t still understand what they mean) they need a man who is a strong Christian preferably their Church member.

- The man must tall, fair or dark, knows the scriptures very well, can pray for at least 30 minutes a day.

- The man must not drink alcohol, must not party, and must not do a kind of work that will make him return late at night.

- The man must be the type that helps her for some house works like cleaning, kitchen and laundry.

- If She finally considers the man, She will need months to pray to God about it in order for God to give her approval and if She get’s the approval from God, the man must also follow her to go and see her Pastor for final approval and if the Pastor says NO, then she pursues the man like a criminal.

- If the Pastor approves, sometimes men would not cope with their harsh principles beginning from the No touching till wedding day rule.

- Extreme born again ladies are always right and no one can correct them, they always feel like demigod to their men.

Meanwhile their perceived indecent ladies have been married with kids and peaceful family.

okay, I felt you were an atheist.

But if you want the interpretation, Sunday morning is quite not really a good time as many post from this section are been moved to FP.

I got to church and I took a look at the verse you quoted and I realised that the chapter that followed it was about judgement on the Jerusalem and Judah and you Need to understand that the Bible was not written and at the same time when they were written, they entered the chapter and verses division. It was for easy assess that chapters and verses are included.

It's like I wrote an article and at the same time, am adding verses and chapters at the same time. Its impossible, I really don't know you, so giving you some facts which might lead to further questions is what I won't like been caught doing now.

As I mentioned earlier, it was Gods judgement not necessary a prophecy of what would happen in this generation like many thing it to be.

Some verses of the Bible were written to address some specific situation in those days
Christianity EtcRe: 4 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Christianity And Sex by Hier(m): 2:01pm On Aug 27, 2017
NaijaNewsPapers:
Growing up in a conservative Christian church, I was taught that the gospel was one, complete, and indestructible whole — particularly as it applied to human sexuality. But it’s not that simple.

The idea that is still taught in some churches today is that the Christian sexual ethic came to earth fully formed, straight from heaven, about 2,000 years ago. Throughout all that time, there was exactly one way for Christians to express their sexuality — by staying abstinent until they got married to a person of the opposite gender. And then, you could have at it all you wanted.

But what I wasn’t taught in Sunday School is that the Bible’s teachings on sex have been interpreted in many different ways. I didn’t know that the early Christians actually started practicing celibacy because they were convinced the end of the world was near. No one told me that marriage wasn’t always defined and controlled by the church. And that even within marriage, sex wasn’t always something that Christians were taught to enjoy and cherish.

And the truth is that the standards on what it means to be a sexual person and live a Christian life have changed.

Here are 4 facts to prove it.

1. For the first 1,000 years of Christianity (that’s at least HALF of its existence, people), many Christians wouldn’t have considered getting married in a church.

Marriages in the West were originally just economic alliances made between two families, with both the church and the state staying out of the proceedings. This meant that weddings didn’t require the presence of a priest.

The church got involved in regulating marriage much later on, as its influence began to increase in Western Europe. It wasn’t until 1215 that the Church formally put a claim on marriage and hashed out rules about what made children legitimate.

2. To be a truly devoted Christian during the earliest days of the church, you needed to stop having sex altogether.

Early Christians’ belief that Jesus’ second coming was imminent created an environment that exalted celibacy over marriage. It was a radical departure from Jewish teachings that the disciples would have been familiar with. But it makes sense — what was the point of getting tied up with worldly responsibilities, like taking care of a spouse, children and a household, when the end of the world was near?

St. Paul, a celibate Christian leader who wrote most of the New Testament, thought of practicing celibacy as taking the higher road towards God, since it allows Christians to concentrate wholly on things of the spirit.

The second coming didn’t happen, but the emphasis on celibacy stayed. Couples in the second century were expected to stop having sex altogether after producing several children.

3. The Church developed some rules about sex that would seem strange.

In medieval times, the church became deeply involved with controlling people’s sex lives. Virginity and monogamy were still prized, while homosexuality could be punished by death. The church also had very specific requirements for what type of sex married couples could have. Since all sex was supposed to be for the purposes of procreation, certain positions were banned (no sex standing up, the woman shouldn’t be on top, no doggy style, oral, anal, or masturbation). And then there were restrictions on what days of the week people could have sex (not on fast days, or feast days for a saint, or on Sundays, for example).

Sex was also discouraged when a woman was menstruating, pregnant, or breastfeeding, (which considering there was no birth control, could have been a good deal of the time). All of these prohibitions meant that on average, sex between married couples was only legal about once per week, if that.

4. Jesus had very little to say about sex.
Other than a some heavy admonishments against lust and against divorce, the Jesus of the Bible didn’t have a lot to say about issues of sexuality. (My guess is that he was too busy hanging out with the poor and healing the sick to care. Just a guess). He also had nothing at all to say about homosexuality or sexual identity as we understand it today.

Most of the instruction about sex comes from Christian leaders who started spreading the religion after Jesus’ death.

http://www.naijanewspapers.com.ng/2017/08/4-things-you-probably-didnt-know-about.html
The Bible didn't teach full celibacy.

1 Corin 7:1-end

stop your propaganda

1 Corin 7:1 Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 6 But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment. 7 For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. 8 But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; 9 but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion. Keep Your Marriage Vows
