Many times I don't blame them, this relationship thing is very competitive on the Christian part than on the Muslim side. it's a common thing that all Muslim ladies dress modestly and they are many times chastised for poor dressing. I mean heavily. I think every church need to continually meet on this dressing and marriage topic. I personally just saw the severity and implication this pose to the unborn world.

Ever wondered why some born-again ladies who are really serving God aren’t married?

They attend church activities regularly, always with Holy bible or spiritual book in their hand bags, always dressed properly, prayer warrior even to the point that all her neighbors hears her during night or early morning prayer yet the lady is in her late 30s or early 40s no husband, not even a fellow church or Christian brother to marry her?

Well from my observation; let me write some of the sure reasons why some of our holy sisters are finding difficulties to get married in their late 30s or early 40s when most of their perceived worldly, indecent, carnal-minded ladies are getting married in their mid 20s and late 20s.

- Born again ladies too scary and embarrassing for most men to approach: Yes they are insulting, I recall when a born again lady once slapped a man in the public because the man touched her politely. This set of ladies scared away potential husbands when they were young with their over serious attitudes. They have the set or standard of men they considered the kind of men they can grant audience and their principles and standard must be met by any man that should talk to them and believe me some of them have more than 50 principles and standard a man has to attain before they grant the man an audience.

Let me talk about some of their standards that makes them send men away;

- Firstly, He must be a God-fearing man (this God fearing man is what I don’t still understand what they mean) they need a man who is a strong Christian preferably their Church member.

- The man must tall, fair or dark, knows the scriptures very well, can pray for at least 30 minutes a day.

- The man must not drink alcohol, must not party, and must not do a kind of work that will make him return late at night.

- The man must be the type that helps her for some house works like cleaning, kitchen and laundry.

- If She finally considers the man, She will need months to pray to God about it in order for God to give her approval and if She get’s the approval from God, the man must also follow her to go and see her Pastor for final approval and if the Pastor says NO, then she pursues the man like a criminal.

- If the Pastor approves, sometimes men would not cope with their harsh principles beginning from the No touching till wedding day rule.

- Extreme born again ladies are always right and no one can correct them, they always feel like demigod to their men.

Meanwhile their perceived indecent ladies have been married with kids and peaceful family.

But if you want the interpretation, Sunday morning is quite not really a good time as many post from this section are been moved to FP.

I got to church and I took a look at the verse you quoted and I realised that the chapter that followed it was about judgement on the Jerusalem and Judah and you Need to understand that the Bible was not written and at the same time when they were written, they entered the chapter and verses division. It was for easy assess that chapters and verses are included.

Growing up in a conservative Christian church, I was taught that the gospel was one, complete, and indestructible whole — particularly as it applied to human sexuality. But it’s not that simple.


The idea that is still taught in some churches today is that the Christian sexual ethic came to earth fully formed, straight from heaven, about 2,000 years ago. Throughout all that time, there was exactly one way for Christians to express their sexuality — by staying abstinent until they got married to a person of the opposite gender. No one told me that marriage wasn’t always defined and controlled by the church. And that even within marriage, sex wasn’t always something that Christians were taught to enjoy and cherish.


And the truth is that the standards on what it means to be a sexual person and live a Christian life have changed.

Here are 4 facts to prove it.

1. For the first 1,000 years of Christianity (that’s at least HALF of its existence, people), many Christians wouldn’t have considered getting married in a church.


Marriages in the West were originally just economic alliances made between two families, with both the church and the state staying out of the proceedings. This meant that weddings didn’t require the presence of a priest.


The church got involved in regulating marriage much later on, as its influence began to increase in Western Europe. It wasn’t until 1215 that the Church formally put a claim on marriage and hashed out rules about what made children legitimate.


2. To be a truly devoted Christian during the earliest days of the church, you needed to stop having sex altogether.


Early Christians’ belief that Jesus’ second coming was imminent created an environment that exalted celibacy over marriage. It was a radical departure from Jewish teachings that the disciples would have been familiar with. But it makes sense — what was the point of getting tied up with worldly responsibilities, like taking care of a spouse, children and a household, when the end of the world was near?


St. Paul, a celibate Christian leader who wrote most of the New Testament, thought of practicing celibacy as taking the higher road towards God, since it allows Christians to concentrate wholly on things of the spirit.

The second coming didn’t happen, but the emphasis on celibacy stayed. Couples in the second century were expected to stop having sex altogether after producing several children.


3. The Church developed some rules about sex that would seem strange.

In medieval times, the church became deeply involved with controlling people’s sex lives. Virginity and monogamy were still prized, while homosexuality could be punished by death. The church also had very specific requirements for what type of sex married couples could have. Since all sex was supposed to be for the purposes of procreation, certain positions were banned (no sex standing up, the woman shouldn’t be on top, no doggy style, oral, anal, or masturbation). And then there were restrictions on what days of the week people could have sex (not on fast days, or feast days for a saint, or on Sundays, for example).

Sex was also discouraged when a woman was menstruating, pregnant, or breastfeeding, (which considering there was no birth control, could have been a good deal of the time). All of these prohibitions meant that on average, sex between married couples was only legal about once per week, if that.

4. Jesus had very little to say about sex.
Other than a some heavy admonishments against lust and against divorce, the Jesus of the Bible didn’t have a lot to say about issues of sexuality. (My guess is that he was too busy hanging out with the poor and healing the sick to care. Just a guess). He also had nothing at all to say about homosexuality or sexual identity as we understand it today.

Most of the instruction about sex comes from Christian leaders who started spreading the religion after Jesus’ death.

The marriages in the bible were traditional. The wedding at Cana was traditional. The old testament wedding g were traditional. The weddings in the new testament are traditional. Church weddings came in, as you said, less than 1000 years ago.

The other day I was saying that lady that got pregnant after traditional wedding and before church wedding was certified to. People came for me here on nairaland. The church refused to do wedding for her. Why?

Bible says, therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother. Which part of the wedding ceremonies do the parents permit you to leave and follow your spouse, TRADITIONAL.

The blessings Bible regards for marriage is your parents, not the priest. Church weddings is just an addition.

But then, people don't study the word with an open heart. We have carried doctrines above and beyond. Our hearts are rigid. Anyone that doesn't agree with us is saying nonsense.

As for me, I'll likely do church wedding because of my wife. But I'll recognise the traditional and court. And I can have sex after them. I believe God's hand is on the marriage already.


As far as I'm concerned also, any sexual act between couples is allowed. If me and my wife like, she can handcuff me to the bed.

Tongues speaking was a gift of d holy spirit which enabled early christians back then to preach in a language(tongue) other than their own.

Before the birth of christianity, God had a covenant relationship with man but that was to change as the old Law was to be replaced with the new law enacted by d blood of Jesus and henwas no longer dealing with humans on d basis of the old law but thru d newly formed christian congregation after Christ's death and ressurection. To convince many that the congregation had His backing, he uses gifts of d spirit such as tongues- 1 Corinthians 14:22.

The gift of speaking served another purpose. During the time of Jesus there was no printing and broadcasting to relay messages to a mass audience as we ve now. Also, there was d issue of language barrier which wud hamper d spread of d gospel of God's will and purpose. To overcome these challenges, tongues speaking filled that need.

Please open ur Bible to read Acts 2:1-11 but with emphasis on verses 6-11 where you wud observe that the tongues spoken where in d real sense of it real languages that were understood by other people who spoke the language not some senseless and meaningless words spoken by ALL tongues speaking pentecostal churches. That way, people cud hear the message of God in their own native language. If u read Acts2:41 u would see that d result of tongues speaking was the 3,000 converts who would now carry witj them to whereever they went the message of goodnews or gospel fulfilling what Christ said in Acts1:8 and what Paul said in Colossians 1:23.

You would realise that when tongues are spoken then it must be interpreted. If no interpretation the tongue speaker has achieved nothing.
Also in verse 31, people cant speak in tongues simultaneously (at the same time) it would make d place rowdy/noisy/disorderly/chaotic as the gathering of barbarians. And the God true christians worship is a God or order as verse 33 shows and so christians must worship God in an orderly manner as verse 40 shows. Not the simultaneous noise making of all in the pentecostal churches we see today, people rambling making noise uttering words they nor their listeners understand and as such cannot interpret what the blabbed which is required.

Now in our time, we ve a well developed printing and broadcasting technology that has overcome the language barrier. The spread of d goodnews is no longer impeded by language barrier as the Bible is now printed in all the living languages spoken today. We even have d Braille for the blind and some bibles have sign language for d deaf. Beinh an ardent admirer of Jehovah's Witnesses the have their publications in about 800 languanges and have a mobile application called "JW LIBRARY" in about 800 languages. Also , they ve many missionaries who ve taken up the challenge of leaening bew languages so they could reach people who speak that language with d gospel.

As Paul said in 1Corinthians 13:1-13, the gifts of speaking in tongues and other gifts of d holy spirit would pass away with time. This is because as d christian congregation was still in its baby or infa stage, extraordinary gifts of the spirit was needed to convince people of God's approval of the christian congregation but as time went by and it grew beyond the babe stage, the traits of babes has to be put way and as such these gifts are no longer required. They ve outlived their purpose.

Hence, we should not be arried away with all these fake pentecostal churches. Look at what d Bible says Matthew 7:21-23, 2Thessolonians 2:8-10

37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

46 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.
