Covenant University - the school where buildings grow like grass. I know some of the people laying this AstroTurf. It would make sense when complete...

@Subtlemee Go and ask, most of Covenant University students also tithe to winners. Yet they never demand for subsidy though Oyedepo's foundation helps out with those who by circumstance can't pay in between schooling. Lastly don't compare Covenant fees to federal universities compare Covenant to Nile, AUN, ABUAD PAU and you would see that there school fees is subsidized greatly at UG and PG.
Oyedepo sid anyone that has a First class from church can go and study PG there for free. And you know what he pays for every single scholarship in d school, he doesn't waive it.

If we doubt the salvation of non deeper lifers wouldn't it make sense to doubt Pastor Kumuyi's salvation since he couldn't have given his life to Christ after founding the church. It is ppl like you that gives Christianity a bad name.

Just say you don't understand the methodology before making a shame of yourself. But lemme break it down simple for you. Webometrics is a ranking which uses four bibliometric tools(presence, impact, openness and excellence) first created by Lee Bernard to assess universities on the web by virtue of their academic contents. It rates the global relevance of research output according to how universities all over the world uses them.
If the words in methodology are hard for you to understand go and read the objectives of the Webometric ranking on their site.

Webometrics ranks online presence and nothing else.
It is not a ranking of quality of education.

Universities with online portals and online payment systems have higher ranking

I want to see Adeboye speak out more on this issue. When Poland was under Soviet occupation the Pope spoke out and made a great difference. What is Adeboye waiting for to enter active activism on this issue?
Active Activism! Adeboye is a Pastor not your political consultant. He might have influence but there is a limit to what he can do. A pastor the size of Adeboye should always be careful not to jeorpadize the safety of his members in the north over political activism.

The little political activism that Oyedepo did against Buhari pre 2015 led to him being accused of threatening hell fire against those who voted Buhari into power by major media houses in Nigeria which by the way endangered his church members in Northern Nigeria. Here on this platform ppl hurled curses at him without finding out whether it was true or not and that Oyedepo activism didn't go down well with some church members.

So here it is get your PVC and go and vote and stop expecting one pastor somewhere to do activism for you. Christianity could have had a powerful voice in Nigeria but same Christians chose to drag the same pastors for every little thing on media and then come to tell them to come and face off with politicians so that when they face off with politicians again they can accuse them falsely and drag them on social media.
Education › How LAUTECH Became Best State University In Nigeria. by HigherEd(op): 9:17am On Feb 04, 2018
By HigherEd

In response to the thread "Lautech Rated Best University - Webometrics".

First of all it is important to note that no global ranking ever uses academic stability to rank universities because it wouldn't make any sense in majority of countries worldwide since their universities really never go on strike. However in a Nigerian setting, Academic Stability should always be a major consideration for determining a University to attend or which is 'Best'

I have seen the Lautech community brandishing the Webometrics ranking as a vindication of their university above all else but it is not. The Webometric ranking simply considers a university research output and how many external influences relate with those research output. This gives an idea of who the research intensive universities are. However it is so not conclusive because unlike Times and the rest it doesn't assess the quality of teaching directly, though there is a strong correlation between research active institutions and excellent pedagogy, internationalisation and other factors that are critical to prospective admission seekers.

HOW DID LAUTECH END UP BEST STATE UNIVERSITY DESPITE BEING SHUT FOR YEARS
The Webometrics ranking of 2018 assessed academic output of all higher institutions worldwide between 2011-2015 and how the global research community related to those activities. Harvard as Usual took the usual number one position. Since Lautech major crisis started post 2015 there was no way they would have been affected. However there is a huge possibility that Lautech would drop severely by 2020 rankings because of the crippling strike they had between 2016 and 2017

WHY DO RANKINGS USE PREVIOUS YEARS FOR ANALYSIS?
They do this so that the research output of those universities would have had enough time to circulate and be used adequately(if valuable) so when citations are measured years later then the result would be an accurate description of that research work.

DOES LAUTECH CONDUCT ADEQUATE RESEARCH WORK?
While most Nigerian universities don't produce novel products or cutting edge technology due to low funding of research, they still contribute to the body of knowledge which is also very appreciable. However in the comity of Nigerian STATE universities LAUTECH has no rival in Nigeria and this is evidenced by their large output on research gate which everyone can check by themselves and compare with other state universities.

IS LAUTECH THE BEST STATE UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA?

Absolutely Not! As I said earlier the Webometrics ranking is largely focused only on research output and doesn't consider other factors which might not be a big deal out there in the West but certainly a big deal here in Nigeria.

Utter higgledy-piggledy. That is why I take these so-called "rankings" with a pinch salt. A school gets shut down for a whole year and yet you rank it as the best state govt. funded university in Nigeria?! Way to go webometric. Pray, tell what would you then rank this same institution if it were, say in the nearest future, get shut down for a whole decade? I am guessing they would stand at number one in the rankings above all else. What were the webometrics guys drinking? Cheap vodka,I guess.
You people know little about the ranking. It assessed the school's academic activity between 2011-2015. The strike in Lautech of recent would only affect Lautech rankings in two years.

Education › Iran To Build Universities In Nigeria by HigherEd(op): 4:24pm On Feb 02, 2018
Iran has expressed readiness to establish universities in Nigeria to meet the demands of students seeking higher education in that country.

Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Morteza Rahimi Zarchi said through signing of new deal, the country would be able to open some branches of Iranian universities in Nigeria.
The envoy stated this Thursday while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of Islamic Revolution victory in Iran.

“Iranian universities have advanced both qualitatively and quantitatively, and the cost is competitive. These are some of the reasons Iran is targeted by some Nigerians seeking higher education.
“We are very hopeful and confident that through signing of new agreement in the field of developing scientific and educational activities, we are going to expand our cooperation in this field to Nigeria very soon.
“In that aspect, we will be able to meet with the demands of Nigerian graduates who are seeking advanced level of education in Iran. If we succeed in signing the agreement, we will be able to open and inaugurate some branches of Iranian universities in Nigeria either in Abuja or other states,” he said.
Zarchi also said Iran is ready to expand bilateral relations with Nigeria in the areas in the areas of oil and gas, construction and housing, saying that negotiations are ongoing in that regard.
“Iran has got plans to expand cooperation with Nigeria. Very recently, there were numerous meeting headed by the Vice President of Iran to expand cooperation with Africa, particularly Nigeria, the biggest economy in the continent. A number of decisions had been taken and this will soon translate from rhetoric to action,” the envoy said.
He said the embassy is making efforts to bring more Iranian companies to participate in the coming international trade fair in Kaduna.
He said the 6th Nigeria-Iran joint commission would soon hold in Tehran and that Iran is hopeful that negotiations would be finalised and good decision made.
Speaking on the country’s development since the 1979 revolution, the envoy said Iran has made gains in many areas, including political independence, security, economy, medicine and education.
He said Iran is ever committed to combating terrorism and violent extremism, noting that the country is ready to cooperate with others to rid the world of terrorist groups.

Education › Re: Top 20 Safest Campuses In Nigeria- what do you think? by HigherEd:
I think most private universities are generally equally safe. And of course the private universities are more safer than public universities because they are usually fully residential with limited interactions with their host communities. We can also give credit to private universities with CCTV network... But I wouldn't believe that Unilag is more safer than say Nile or Landmark University because Unilag isn't fully residential.

Lastly to even do a ranking like this there are so many parameters you would even need to consider apart from visiting those universities physically to see the security apparatus they have in place. Universities whose gates not connected directly to Road highways are usually safer.

Smaller universities are usually more safer than larger ones because operatives can easily tell a student from a stranger.

And what is so amazing about an Estate of one storey houses that is giving you fever?
Are they supposed to live inside mudhouses? Or maybe we should switch off the lights maybe it would look less glamorous to you.

Covenant University PG hostel fine pass these houses x 20

Canaancity houses(for members) is clearly x10 better than the one Oyedepo and other leaders are living in so what are u screaming about?

Oyedepo is actually living a very austere life in comparison to what the Church can afford to give him. Have you seen his sitting room?, have you seen his cars?(well i have seen them all and there is nothing spectacular about it) go and compare them with that of the Sultan of Sokoto with no congregation, no book to his name and come back and talk.
The fact that he lives inside this mandate ehn is just humility - there are many ppl not even members of LFC that would readily build him greater edifices with luxurious facilities if he would allow them.

On your Tithe blah blah, So it is Oyedepo's house that would inform your doctrinal interpretation of Tithing. Too many comedians dey naija. You can keep your tithe oga.

Canaanland/Canaancity has continued to grow in vigour as a City of its own! I am always excited whenever I visit here, it is just continued growth and growth. From Moriah to Shiloh to Rehoboth Gilead to Hebron and now Canaan city.

Bishop Oyedepo of recent moved away from the Bishop's Court to Mandate Estate where he now lives alongside other leaders of the Church and has a close eye look at the canaancity housing project which would house thousands of living faith families and other folks.

The Bishop's court now houses Bishop Abioye.

The Federal Universities have gotten the clear message that as private universities are turning out high numbers of First class which is actually supposed to be normal then in the next few years graduates of public universities might find it hard to compete with them since majority graduate without a First. The UI of today is aiming to get her First and 2:1 degrees to be 70% of the total graduating class in the next few years just as it is in most UK universities.
However state universities don't seem to get the memo, they still keep cutting people down from getting their deserved degrees. OOU, Ogun State Delsu and Abia State University one of the major culprits.
