It should be five things I would learn to do if I was were jobless. Nice write up tho'.
So much for being a "free thinker."

Correct grammatical usage in the 21st century at your own peril.

That grammatical expression you so despise its usage might be what your grandkids would spend millions of Naira going abroad to learn to speak and write.

Laxity of grammatical exactness is spreading faster than optic fibre. You can imagine almighty Twitter writing "who to follow" when it is grammatically correct to write "whom to follow."

Besides friend, "If I was..." isn't exactly wrong grammatically, it has it's usage, maybe (I can't tell), not in OP's sentence."

LiteratureRe: Which African Writer Wrote Better Than Chinua Achebe? by hischoice(m):
Wole Soyinka says he loathes any such comparison with Chinua.

He's gone further to say he would not even want to compare any of his own works with themselves.

Art and literary appreciation, according to him, is a function of mood at any given point in time.

I so much crave for Chinua's books sometimes, that I find myself reading "Arrow of God"'s publishers' names over and over. The next hour, it's Reuben Abati's archive I'm digging into online and offline. And would trash every Chinua's book that tries to stop me en route. That's mood!

Good readers don't compare authors, especially along ethnic lines. Everyone is useful in his time.

Nothing mysterious is happening lately as some folks might be quick to point out.
But the truth is that drivers are becoming increasingly more absent-minded.
And for that, I blame prevailing economic situation.

"Pikin never chop, school fees dey there, wife might be sleeping with Papa Chuckwudi next door to get small change."

Any observant person would realize that men suddenly make huge sighs these days. "Huuuuuuuuum"

These are not very good times.

"300,000 Naira to buy Handout. Students would understand what I mean..."

I hope they would.

Back in Ife, on occasions when I didn't have 50 Naira to photocopy Handouts, I would pick my pen and book; and laboriously dub the Handout's content (between 10 to 20 pages). I would lie to my mates that it was only way I could read and understand.

Today, I can afford a 3D scanner, scan a whole building for the fun of it.

Yahoo was an easier route, you know? Yes, assume I escaped the horrible consequences, how proud of my acievements today would I be? Would this tears have dropped down my cheek as I type this?

Second chance is God's, I hope He considers you for it.
PoliticsMy Message To All First Time Voters by hischoice(op): 12:48pm On Dec 14, 2014
Dear First Time Voters,

To the young first-time voters, congratulations. You finally have a go at making an employment decision for who occupies the highest office in your country. We, old voters, have failed you - reason the nation is bleeding today. So don’t take our advice on who to vote for.

But I can share with you what mistakes we made and how we made them, if that would help in shaping your decision.

A middle-aged man came to us towards the end of 2010. He said he had no shoes. Truth be told, he was not lying. But then, he wanted more than a thousand pair of shoes. He wanted us to put the next four years of our lifetime (and yours!) into his hands. Fellow-feeling driven, we didn't ask him what he intended doing with our excess crude reserve, we also didn't remember to invite him to one of our universities to meet our undergraduates - engage them in deep intellectual discussions and ultimately re-ignite some hope in them. After all, he was carrying a PhD and was their lecturer until about a decade before.

We were just swept away by…nothing, vagueness, blurriness. Don’t mind me, it’s only that looking back, I regret we didn't have anything to hold him accountable for, should he fail to manage our company (our country) well.

Now, he would win us hands-down in any court of law if we press for charges.

Instead of discussing the job descriptions and how he would fit into it, we were finding faults in this other applicant; a more elderly man who had done a similar job before. “He does not practice our religion. Look at him, he looks old and frail. Don’t give him the job; he will turn his back on us later. He prays five times a day. Can we afford that?” We all said that. I said that too.

Yes, we gave our man the job. And yes, it turned out he didn't know the name of the office he occupied. I’m not joking. If he did, he wouldn't be counting the increase in pass rate at O'level examinations as an achievement.

Now, his contract is over. He wants a renewal. I ask for his scorecard. First thing that worries me on the list is the unending number of road projects he claims we are embarking. He notices my dissatisfaction; and quickly says I could come and see the roads for myself. "I need not." I screamed at him. "Two thousand seven hundred kilometers of road in total under construction, yet our Civil Engineering graduates are roaming the streets – Doesn't add up, my friend!” What more proofs do I need that those projects aren't touching lives?

I have since thrown the papers at him. He failed!

This is one important point in the history of this country. And every first time voter should count himself lucky to be a part of the formulators of what is to become the future of Nigeria. A little apprehension is okay. A few nerves too. It is caused by the moment we are in. Now is NOT the time to listen to your parents. If they knew what is right, they would have made better electioneering decisions in time past; and Nigeria would not be where she is today.

This is your decision to make. Only yours. Read wide. Engage your thoughts deeply. Stay off NTA.

If you do those and still vote the incumbent, then, I will respect your decision.

Yours,

A much older voter.

"I'm sorry" mightn't be bad but a heartfelt lovers' "THANK THANK" should suffice.

The only thing one can say is: "What did these kids do wrong? What wrong decisions did they make? And when?"

If they be adults, you could say: "They didn't toil when their contemporaries were." But for kids, it's just incomprehensible! They would look through their school gate and see some kids taking a nap at the back seat of a Limo.

UcLloyd: U are the confused one here. Do u even know the full meaning of B.sc? How can u say an Engineering course of 5yrs is awarded B.sc after completion in Nigeria? I thought u're drunk or something till I read this post of urs. Haba! an accredited engineering dept graduate goes home with B.Eng mister. Stop confusing people cuz is no longer funny. If ur certificate says B.sc, u had better rush back to ur school for serious explanation. We have B.tech and B.Eng. Jesus Christ, wetin pesin no go see for nairaland ni! Wayo!!!!
I have no problem with anyone questioning what I seem to be very sure about, what I have an aversion for is not wanting to learn given the so many facts there are to learn from. Please, click on these links, please do!

UI: http://tech.ui.edu.ng/
UNILAG: http://engineering.unilag.edu.ng/index.php/courses

I would have posted a certificate from a third university but that would definitely mean not given you due credit for your intelligence and capability to learn. You deserve better than being tagged a #pictureOrIDontBelieveIT guy.

But please, click on those links.

Again Bachelor in the Art of Engineering (BAI) is awarded by the University of Dublin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachelor_of_Engineering What do you say to that?

Correct. Na me like your comment o.

What a Faculty decides to call its degree is largely at the discretion of the faculty board, and its curriculum is tailored as to reflect what it seeks to award. Science finds the way to do something, Engineering/Technology does that thing.

Shocker - Bachelor in the Art of Engineering is awarded by the University of Dublin.

Once again, na me like your comment o.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Baker Hughes 2015 Graduate Field Engineer! by hischoice(m):
ChelseaKings: Please let us get it straight and lay all these confusion to rest... Any university that the Engineering faculty has not been accredited, the engineering courses are still under physical sciences and their degree will be Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.Sc Engineering). Once the engineering courses are accredited as faculty, they are on their own and the degree gotten from there will be pure B.Engineering. Is like that in every part of the world. Hope this is clear. Top of the morning to you guys.
Jesus Christ of Nazareth!
How could anyone be so confidently gabbling trash?
Three of Nigeria's five first-generation universities award Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in their faculties of Engineering (or Technology) - UI, OAU and UNILAG (ABU and UNN award B.Eng).

Is there any one university in Nigeria with more recent NUC and COREN accreditation than those three? OAU has 9 fully accredited academic programmes in that Faculty, UI has eight, UNILAG - nine with on-going accreditation for BSc Biomedical Engineering.

Haba, bros sufry sufry lie nah. And you did it with some distinctive and stylish elegance. On the positive side, you would most likely daze interviewers - with you confidence in ignorance.

Basic public etiquette - zero.
