Daejoyoung:The gospel is ply means good news, that is, news so good that its just too good to be true. Yes Jesus preached the Gospel. The gospel is summarized in John 3:16. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. This is the Gospel. Since the beginning when Adam sinned and died, all men too began sinning and dying . Death, which is the consequence of sin, is both being spiritually separated from God (having a sin nature while alive & eternal punishment in hell after life is over), and all miseries brought about by sin (guilt, depression, etc). But God, not wanting to condemn the whole world to hell (God judging us is not an act of wickedness. He is a just God, and must punish sin) sent His Son to bear the consequences of the entire world's sins. Jesus wasn't born a sinner. He never sinned and lived up to God's standard. But when Jesus hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse of the law, He took upon the sins of the whole world on our behalf. What makes His sacrifice superior to all others is the fact that He was God, and He was innocent. God condemned Jesus, so He wouldn't have to condemn us. So, if anyone puts their faith in Jesus, such a person is made part of Jesus. All His righteousness, holiness, perfection is attributed to such a person. All that persons sins will be forgiven, and no further sacrifice would be needed to appease God's wrath when such a person sins, because His wrath has been fully borne by Jesus. Whoever believes in God will have eternal life. Eternal life, according to Jesus, is not just living forever in Heaven, but knowing and having intimacy with God the father and Jesus. John 17:2-3. In summary, judgment has been taken on your behalf, and by believing you are made right with God. John chapter 3 is the gospel from Jesus's perspective. The book of romans chapters 1-8 is the gospel from Paul's perspective except that Paul went deeper to explain things in detail. Jesus wasn't talking about God forgiving us when He said forgive and you will be forgiven. What He simply meant is that we should all treat people the way we want them to treat us; we should give people what we want them to give us. What He meant by our righteousness exceeding that of the scribes and pharisees was this: The scribes and pharisees were self-righteous and thought that they were right with God by observing the law, but as I have already said, such righteousness doesn't count before God. So, we are to have God's kind of righteousness, the one He attributes to all who believe in Him. (Believing in Jesus is the same as believing opinions God. John 12:44). All those other things you pointed out are just His teachings. The Gospel is His birth, death and resurrection, done for our sakes, so we can all be made right with God. |
Daejoyoung:Jesus was God's sacrificial lamb which took away the sins of the world. During the days of the old covenant, if someone sinned they were to sacrifice an animal, usually a lamb, goat or bull, and this sacrifice would cover their sin and secure God's forgiveness for a while, but when they sinned again, they would have to appease God's wrath by carrying out another sacrifice. Read Hebrews 9-11. So, when Jesus hung on the cross as God's own sacrificial lamb for the sins of the entire world, He took upon God's judgment for sin and made salvation available to the whole world. His sacrifice doesn't just cover sins like the former covenant, but it takes sins away... All records of it for all who receive it. Salvation entails righteousness, justification, forgiveness, health, peace with God, etc. Jesus said, and all over the new testament it is reiterated that the only way to receive anything from God is by believing. He said that if anyone believes in Him, he is not condemned. John 3. So, to answer your question, the death of Jesus doesn't make you righteous, but believing in the Gospel of Jesus (that He is the son of God, was crucified for your sins, and was resurrected to newline) is what makes you righteous in God's eyes. Romans 3. Romans 10. The only righteousness that counts to God is His own Righteousness, the Righteousness of faith, that is, His Righteousness which is imputed to all who believe in Him. Romans 10. Righteousness is simply being made right with God or being at peace with Him. Satisfied? |
PaulSimon2020:My point exactly. |
Okay, this is weird. Why are they promoting a church program like its one of those music shows? I get what they're trying to do. They are after young people, so they want to show them that someone that they look up to is in support of this. They are trying to promote Christianity as something cool from a worldly perspective. I don't like this. I'm not a hater of davido, but someone who sings the kind of songs he does and lives the kind of lifestyle he lives shouldn't be used to promote a church program... This isn't one of those UBA events tho. |

I wonder if a brit would be as happy as she is about becoming a Nigerian citizen |
tobechi20:We can't earn righteousness by doing good things. Righteousness is a gift from God. All our self-righteousness is as filthy rags to God. Isaiah 64:6 [6]But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. The only righteousness that counts before the eyes of God is the righteousness of faith, that is, the His Righteousness which He gives to all who believe in Him. Romans 4:1-5 [1]What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? [2]For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. [3]For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. [4]Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. [5]But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. God counts the person that believes in Him as being righteous. Philippians 3:8-9 [8]Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, [9]And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Righteousness can only come from God by faith. Righteousness is simply being in right-standing with God. That is, God isn't holding anything against you, He isn't counting your sins against you, He doesn't consider you to be a sinner, You are blameless before Him, you are justified. As far as God is concerned, you have never sinned. The person that believes in Jesus as the lamb of God who took away the sins of the world is granted access to God's Grace which grants Him salvation. At the point of salvation, such a person is born-again, justified, reconciled to God, at peace with God, and declared righteous by God. Bottom line: No one can be righteous of themselves, for all have sinned and fall short of God's glory. Only God can declare a person righteous, and He does this ignoring the person's works and considering his faith alone. By believing in Him, a person is righteous, not by doing good things. |
aadoiza:LOL.. Seems he's a backslider.. He's just going through a phase... He will still return to God... He'll still return to Jesus. I was like him last year.. He'll change. Amen! |
solite3:Amen! |
falcon01:Just cuz sth us written doesn't mean He's interpreting correctly. What He perceives from what is written is not what's trying to be communicated by the text. Understand? |
solite3:What you're saying isn't well presented, but I understand you. We are save by God's Grace through Faith. When we believe in Jesus, we are granted access to God's Grace, which is what grants us salvation. Jesus is the one-time sacrifice for the sins of the whole word (Heb 9-11). All our sins have been forgiven, past, future and present. This doesn't mean we can go about living sinfully though, because that will mean handling the word of truth deceitfully. When you sin just apologize to God, ask Him for His Grace not to repeat such sins again. By the way, which preacher(s) message are you referring to hyper-grace? Please could you tell me the name of the person? Thanks. |

AntiChristian:You're just being sentimental and bitter. Ciao! |
AntiChristian:Romans 9:13-23 [13]As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. [14]What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. [15]For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. [16]So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. [17]For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. [18]Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. [19]Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? [20]Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? [21]Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? [22]What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: [23]And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, Man has no authority to question God, just do what He says! |
AntiChristian:LOL... God is perfect and can do no wrong... Evil is not of God, but of the devil, who is the god of Muslims. Proofs that the devil is the god of muslims: 1. The quran claims that Jesus never was crucified, and thus never resurrected, when the most historically agreed upon fact of Jesus's existence is His crucifixion on the cross. This is a lie. And the father of lies is the devil. 2. The quran claims that the Holy Trinity is made up of God, Jesus and Mary. This is a lie. And the father of lies is the devil. This also supports my next point. 3. The quran claims to be the final revelation from God, that is, a follow-up of the old and new testament. The new testament, which is a follow-up of the old consistently makes references to the old, showing that the authors had knowledge of the old. There are, however, no references of the new testament in the quran, so its a lie. And all lies are of the devil. I rest my case. |
AntiChristian:God hates sin, not the sinner. God punishes sin. If a person doesn't turn away from their sin, they suffer the consequences. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. |
AntiChristian:All the people that God killed were wicked people, and as a just God, He must punish wickedness. |
AntiChristian:God is just punishing Jesus for our sins. Period. You're just bitter towards God, and that's stopping you from seeing the truth. God Loves you. ![]() |
God Loves the world, so He he gave His Son as a sacrificial lamb, so that anyone that believes in Him comes out of condemnation and into eternal life! Hallelujah. |
AntiChristian:You know I'm speaking the truth... Lol God loves you, my friend. And I know you might feel unworthy of His Love which is why you're coming up with every reason not to believe in Him. But believe in Him, and He will grant you Salvation which your dead allah cannot grant. |
AntiChristian:God is a just God and must punish evil. This even strengthens the truth of the gospel. God is so just infact, that He punished His Own Son for the evil of the entire world. Thank God for Jesus. |
falcon01:He quoted from the bible but as I said, he posted the part that suited his bitter dispensation towards God. From the book where he got the scripture, God first told them about the blessings that would come upon them as a consequence of choosing to obey His Commands, then He told them about the curses that will come upon them as a result of turning away from Him and serving the devil and his demons. This makes sense, because God is good and has nothing but to good to give, so those who follow him enjoy blessings. The devil, however, is bad and has nothing but bad to give, and those who follow him suffer his curses. The way he explained it, one might think that God is the one who puts the curses on people, and that's not true. He's just bitter towards God, and is finding every childish excuse not to believe in Him for salvation. |
AntiChristian:LOL.. You're just angry at God because you lack understanding of HIM. But He still Love you and looks out for you everyday. I believe one day you'll turn from all this bitterness and understand that God is good and believe Him for salvation. |
AntiChristian:1. GOD didn't do the murdering. 2. His Son gave His Life voluntarily because of Love. 3. His Son came back to Life. 4. Because His Son died so we can all be made right with God, have life eternal, have victory over sin, and that's entirely to our own benefit, not His. 5. JESUS IS LORD! |
AntiChristian:NO matter what I tell you you won't believe. But the truth is God loves you. He gave His Son for you and is patiently waiting for you to burn your quran and turn to Him. |
falcon01:Yeah... I don't really understand your question tho |
Why didn't you post the part where God told them about the blessings that would come to them as a result of keeping His commands? (Deut 30). Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: We have two options to choose from which will determine the consequences we experience for doing so. First of all, Allah does not exist. Secondly, God gives us commands for our own benefit, and if we do not observe them, there will be consequences which are our fault, not His doing. Those curses that He said will come upon them for not obeying His commands would have been the consequences of their actions. For instance, if you have unprotected sex and get HIV, the fault is on you because you chose to do so. Thirdly, Jesus by sacrificing His life for us became a curse for us, so those curses in those scripture you posted here are irrelevant, because all that Born-again believers are eligible for are the blessings. Although the curses still apply to unbelievers like muslims. Galatians 3:10-13 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Next time, before you criticize something, do it from a standpoint of understanding, not sentiments. Allah is false and non-existent. If he does exist, he is not God, but the devil himself, and should not be worshipped. Just say you don't want to believe in God and stop spreading lies about Him. God is Good. Period. |
God is good. Just say you don't want to believe in Him and let it be. Stop bringing out portions of scripture that you don't like and using it to paint God in bad light. |
We need to stop attacking Muslims and Atheists based on their beliefs, because doing so will never make them to want to believe in Jesus. It will also make them get defensive and the end result is that their hearts will be more darkened, and they'll be more deceived. The truth is that there is a demonic spirit working in all people who don't believe in Jesus (Eph2:1-3). Also, they have been blinded by the devil. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 [3]If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. [4]Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. The best we can do is just keep promoting Jesus and God's Kingdom, and praying to God to tear off the veil of darkness cast on them by the devil so that the light of the glorious Gospel of Jesus the Messiah can shine on them. Salvation is not by force. The dark ages are over. Let's stop being so aggressive. If at all we respond to their views, let it be done in LOVE and with RESPECT. Even most of the so-called Christians always arguing with Atheists and Muslims will not still make heaven, and that's a fact. The truth is, there are so many questions that can be asked about God and the Bible, to which there are not reasonable answers. God has asked us to BELIEVE, not BE KNOWLEDGEABLE. Peace! |
CAPSLOCKED:Okay, and your point is......? |
