Christianity EtcRe: What Happens When A Believer "Dies In Sin"? A Biblical Exposition Of What Sin Is by Hismasterpiece(m): 9:30am On Dec 21, 2019
Daejoyoung:
Good, at least unlike the others you gave an answer to my questions.
l agree that the death of jesus alone doesn't make you righteous, but believing in the gospel of jesus makes you righteous. l agree with all of these, but then what is the gospel of jesus? ls it all about his death and resurrection? what about his life? what did jesus himself preach as his gospel.
You say our righteousness doesn't count in God's eyes, but didn't jesus himself say that when you forgive others their sins against you, then God also would forgive you your sins against him.
Didn't jesus tell us that our righteousness must superceed that of the scribes and pharisees? that we must not swear or bear grudges? that we must love even our enemies so we can attain perfection like our heavenly father who makes his sun to shine on both the good and evil? what about the kingdom of God and all the parables of jesus? are all of these not the gospel of jesus that makes you righteous before God?
The gospel is ply means good news, that is, news so good that its just too good to be true. Yes Jesus preached the Gospel. The gospel is summarized in John 3:16.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

This is the Gospel. Since the beginning when Adam sinned and died, all men too began sinning and dying . Death, which is the consequence of sin, is both being spiritually separated from God (having a sin nature while alive & eternal punishment in hell after life is over), and all miseries brought about by sin (guilt, depression, etc).

But God, not wanting to condemn the whole world to hell (God judging us is not an act of wickedness. He is a just God, and must punish sin) sent His Son to bear the consequences of the entire world's sins.

Jesus wasn't born a sinner. He never sinned and lived up to God's standard. But when Jesus hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse of the law, He took upon the sins of the whole world on our behalf.

What makes His sacrifice superior to all others is the fact that He was God, and He was innocent.

God condemned Jesus, so He wouldn't have to condemn us. So, if anyone puts their faith in Jesus, such a person is made part of Jesus. All His righteousness, holiness, perfection is attributed to such a person. All that persons sins will be forgiven, and no further sacrifice would be needed to appease God's wrath when such a person sins, because His wrath has been fully borne by Jesus.

Whoever believes in God will have eternal life. Eternal life, according to Jesus, is not just living forever in Heaven, but knowing and having intimacy with God the father and Jesus. John 17:2-3.

In summary, judgment has been taken on your behalf, and by believing you are made right with God.

John chapter 3 is the gospel from Jesus's perspective. The book of romans chapters 1-8 is the gospel from Paul's perspective except that Paul went deeper to explain things in detail.

Jesus wasn't talking about God forgiving us when He said forgive and you will be forgiven. What He simply meant is that we should all treat people the way we want them to treat us; we should give people what we want them to give us.

What He meant by our righteousness exceeding that of the scribes and pharisees was this: The scribes and pharisees were self-righteous and thought that they were right with God by observing the law, but as I have already said, such righteousness doesn't count before God. So, we are to have God's kind of righteousness, the one He attributes to all who believe in Him. (Believing in Jesus is the same as believing opinions God. John 12:44).

All those other things you pointed out are just His teachings. The Gospel is His birth, death and resurrection, done for our sakes, so we can all be made right with God.
Christianity EtcRe: What Happens When A Believer "Dies In Sin"? A Biblical Exposition Of What Sin Is by Hismasterpiece(m): 9:11pm On Dec 20, 2019
Daejoyoung:
Say you want to preach to an unbeliever, and he asks you how does the death of jesus make me righteous? what would be your answer?
Jesus was God's sacrificial lamb which took away the sins of the world.

During the days of the old covenant, if someone sinned they were to sacrifice an animal, usually a lamb, goat or bull, and this sacrifice would cover their sin and secure God's forgiveness for a while, but when they sinned again, they would have to appease God's wrath by carrying out another sacrifice. Read Hebrews 9-11.

So, when Jesus hung on the cross as God's own sacrificial lamb for the sins of the entire world, He took upon God's judgment for sin and made salvation available to the whole world. His sacrifice doesn't just cover sins like the former covenant, but it takes sins away... All records of it for all who receive it.

Salvation entails righteousness, justification, forgiveness, health, peace with God, etc.

Jesus said, and all over the new testament it is reiterated that the only way to receive anything from God is by believing. He said that if anyone believes in Him, he is not condemned. John 3.

So, to answer your question, the death of Jesus doesn't make you righteous, but believing in the Gospel of Jesus (that He is the son of God, was crucified for your sins, and was resurrected to newline) is what makes you righteous in God's eyes. Romans 3. Romans 10.

The only righteousness that counts to God is His own Righteousness, the Righteousness of faith, that is, His Righteousness which is imputed to all who believe in Him. Romans 10.

Righteousness is simply being made right with God or being at peace with Him.

Satisfied?

Okay, this is weird. Why are they promoting a church program like its one of those music shows?

I get what they're trying to do. They are after young people, so they want to show them that someone that they look up to is in support of this.

They are trying to promote Christianity as something cool from a worldly perspective.

I don't like this.

I'm not a hater of davido, but someone who sings the kind of songs he does and lives the kind of lifestyle he lives shouldn't be used to promote a church program... This isn't one of those UBA events tho.

Christianity EtcRe: How Do We Identify A Righteous Person? by Hismasterpiece(m): 11:56am On Dec 15, 2019
tobechi20:
Is a righteous person one who is compassionate, kind, generous?

Or is he one who just gets along with others for the sake of peace?

Or is he one who just speaks up against evil in his environment

Or he who does not steal, commit adultery etc.while not committing any good (ASSUME GOOD AND BAD IS KNOWN AND OBJECTIVE) Sct

That is, is righteousness based on the good act we do or bad act we don't or constant thought and speech on good and bad act.

Two scenarios:

MR X worked in a government establishment where fund was constantly embezzled. He spoke against it constantly and never partook in them. The crooks set him up and almost got sacked in the process. Finally, he was posted to another government organization

In this new organization, he didn't speak up against corruption. he would watch an keep mute. At times,he is giving a part of corrupt proceed. He decided to use the money to feed less privileged, pay stranger school free etc.

IN WHICH OF THE ABOVE CASES CAN WE CALL HIM A RIGHTEOUS MAN.
We can't earn righteousness by doing good things.

Righteousness is a gift from God.

All our self-righteousness is as filthy rags to God.

Isaiah 64:6
[6]But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

The only righteousness that counts before the eyes of God is the righteousness of faith, that is, the His Righteousness which He gives to all who believe in Him.

Romans 4:1-5
[1]What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
[2]For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
[3]For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

[4]Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
[5]But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

God counts the person that believes in Him as being righteous.

Philippians 3:8-9
[8]Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

[9]And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Righteousness can only come from God by faith.

Righteousness is simply being in right-standing with God. That is, God isn't holding anything against you, He isn't counting your sins against you, He doesn't consider you to be a sinner, You are blameless before Him, you are justified. As far as God is concerned, you have never sinned.

The person that believes in Jesus as the lamb of God who took away the sins of the world is granted access to God's Grace which grants Him salvation. At the point of salvation, such a person is born-again, justified, reconciled to God, at peace with God, and declared righteous by God.

Bottom line: No one can be righteous of themselves, for all have sinned and fall short of God's glory. Only God can declare a person righteous, and He does this ignoring the person's works and considering his faith alone. By believing in Him, a person is righteous, not by doing good things.

Christianity EtcRe: What Is Hyper-grace? by Hismasterpiece(m): 5:27pm On Dec 14, 2019
solite3:
Question: "What is hyper-grace?"

Answer: The term hyper-grace has been used to describe a new wave of teaching that emphasizes the grace of God to the exclusion of other vital teachings such as repentance and confession of sin. Hyper-grace teachers maintain that all sin, past, present, and future, has already been forgiven, so there is no need for a believer to ever confess it. Hyper-grace teaching says that, when God looks at us, He sees only a holy and righteous people. The conclusion of hyper-grace teaching is that we are not bound by Jesus’ teaching, even as we are not under the Law; that believers are not responsible for their sin; and that anyone who disagrees is a pharisaical legalist. In short, hyper-grace teachers “pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality” (Jude 1:4) and flirt with antinomianism.

Jesus’ words to the seven churches in the book of Revelation strongly contradict the idea that Christians never need to repent. To the church at Ephesus, Jesus said, “Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place” (Revelation 2:4). Jesus rebukes five of the seven churches and demands repentance from them (Revelation 2:4, 6, 20; 3:3, 15–19). Far from believers being unaccountable for their sin, they must answer to Jesus for their disobedience (see also 2 Corinthians 5:10).

Preachers of hyper-grace doctrine discount the Old Testament and the Ten Commandments as irrelevant to New Testament believers. They even teach that Jesus’ words spoken before His resurrection are part of the Old Covenant and no longer applicable to born-again believers. But is this true?

In Mark 13:31, Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised that the Father would send the Holy Spirit who “will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (John 14:26). If Jesus’ words are no longer applicable to believers, why would we need to be reminded of them?

Hyper-grace teaching is a good example of mixing truth with error. An emphasis on the beauty and power of God’s grace is good, but some teachers are neglecting what Paul called the “whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). For example, it is true that Christians have been forgiven by God. But that doesn’t mean we never have to confess our sin. James 5:16 says, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” If we are to confess our sins to each other, why would we not need to confess them to God, since every sin is ultimately a sin against God (Psalm 51:4)?
What you're saying isn't well presented, but I understand you.

We are save by God's Grace through Faith. When we believe in Jesus, we are granted access to God's Grace, which is what grants us salvation.

Jesus is the one-time sacrifice for the sins of the whole word (Heb 9-11). All our sins have been forgiven, past, future and present.

This doesn't mean we can go about living sinfully though, because that will mean handling the word of truth deceitfully.

When you sin just apologize to God, ask Him for His Grace not to repeat such sins again.

By the way, which preacher(s) message are you referring to hyper-grace? Please could you tell me the name of the person? Thanks.

LOL... God is perfect and can do no wrong... Evil is not of God, but of the devil, who is the god of Muslims.

Proofs that the devil is the god of muslims:
1. The quran claims that Jesus never was crucified, and thus never resurrected, when the most historically agreed upon fact of Jesus's existence is His crucifixion on the cross. This is a lie. And the father of lies is the devil.

2. The quran claims that the Holy Trinity is made up of God, Jesus and Mary. This is a lie. And the father of lies is the devil. This also supports my next point.

3. The quran claims to be the final revelation from God, that is, a follow-up of the old and new testament. The new testament, which is a follow-up of the old consistently makes references to the old, showing that the authors had knowledge of the old. There are, however, no references of the new testament in the quran, so its a lie. And all lies are of the devil.

I rest my case.

the potion he quoted, are they from the bible or is he lying?
He quoted from the bible but as I said, he posted the part that suited his bitter dispensation towards God.

From the book where he got the scripture, God first told them about the blessings that would come upon them as a consequence of choosing to obey His Commands, then He told them about the curses that will come upon them as a result of turning away from Him and serving the devil and his demons.

This makes sense, because God is good and has nothing but to good to give, so those who follow him enjoy blessings. The devil, however, is bad and has nothing but bad to give, and those who follow him suffer his curses.

The way he explained it, one might think that God is the one who puts the curses on people, and that's not true.

He's just bitter towards God, and is finding every childish excuse not to believe in Him for salvation.

Why didn't you post the part where God told them about the blessings that would come to them as a result of keeping His commands? (Deut 30).

Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

We have two options to choose from which will determine the consequences we experience for doing so.

First of all, Allah does not exist. Secondly, God gives us commands for our own benefit, and if we do not observe them, there will be consequences which are our fault, not His doing.

Those curses that He said will come upon them for not obeying His commands would have been the consequences of their actions. For instance, if you have unprotected sex and get HIV, the fault is on you because you chose to do so.

Thirdly, Jesus by sacrificing His life for us became a curse for us, so those curses in those scripture you posted here are irrelevant, because all that Born-again believers are eligible for are the blessings. Although the curses still apply to unbelievers like muslims.

Galatians 3:10-13
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

We need to stop attacking Muslims and Atheists based on their beliefs, because doing so will never make them to want to believe in Jesus. It will also make them get defensive and the end result is that their hearts will be more darkened, and they'll be more deceived.

The truth is that there is a demonic spirit working in all people who don't believe in Jesus (Eph2:1-3).

Also, they have been blinded by the devil.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4
[3]If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing.

[4]Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

The best we can do is just keep promoting Jesus and God's Kingdom, and praying to God to tear off the veil of darkness cast on them by the devil so that the light of the glorious Gospel of Jesus the Messiah can shine on them.

Salvation is not by force. The dark ages are over. Let's stop being so aggressive. If at all we respond to their views, let it be done in LOVE and with RESPECT.

Even most of the so-called Christians always arguing with Atheists and Muslims will not still make heaven, and that's a fact.

The truth is, there are so many questions that can be asked about God and the Bible, to which there are not reasonable answers.

God has asked us to BELIEVE, not BE KNOWLEDGEABLE.

Peace!

[18]For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
[19]Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
[20]For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Also, they don't want to be wrong, they are too scared of letting go of what they perceive as their version of the truth and conforming to what they see as another person's version of the truth.

The end of the matter is this: Truth is absolute. The sun shines.. That's a truth.. You believing it or not does not stop it from being true.

Same thing with Yahweh. He is the One True God. There is none other besides Him. Jesus is Lord!
Amen
