The best that can happen to you in life is for you to be married to a catholic. They have pure devotion. Learn from them why they do all what they do. No devoice in catholic marriage. The other side are those protesting because they want freedom, and want to do things in their own way. Your life is in your hands. |

ondogi:Why are you flying like sosoliso or bellview? I am sorry for you because your fall will be wost than Almaisigha. You speak like a person that refuses to face reality. The way slave came to the world is also the way SON arrived. Obasanjo, Ayofayose, Aragbesola are proud products of polytechnic. Kolawole olawuyi, and so many other respectable Nigerian were product of the polytchnic. Let face the fact. I am not a BOY I am a man of your father's Age and tired of degrees as I have obtained the highest my ability could take me. A third degree for that matter. Psychologically this issue is killing. Why Polytechnic education? Everybody should be happy where ever they find themselves. Those that are not academic brilliant is never their fault. Do you want them to hang them selves? Say amen that what took us to the polytechnic will happen to your children. |
ondogi:This is a war. You better stay away if you do not know what to write on this issue. You look like "Ajebuta" Can you say amen if I wish your life to be like that of HND holders? Something lead us into the polytechnic so such thing should lead your children |

Poly Graduates: Technical Board to Spearhead Boycott of Banks This Day (Lagos) November 22, 2005 Posted to the web November 23, 2005 Lagos The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) is to spearhead a boycott of banks who reportedly sacked Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates of polytechnics. In a press release issued at the end of a meeting held to discuss the development, the Board, the Committee of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Education (COHEADS), as well as the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) said: "in as much as the Banking sector is undergoing reforms, it is however shocking and indeed alarming that the banks as announced by one of them, would make HND graduates the sacrificial lamb." The meeting therefore "appealed to all lovers of technical and vocational education, which is the bedrock of any economic development, to rise up against this discriminatory policy of the banks against the Polytechnic graduates. The NBTE, COHEADS, Polytechnic lecturers and indeed all holders of polytechnic diplomas and certificates and members of their families should take this as a personal fight. Consequently, it resolved that unless such banks rescind their decision, it would have no option than to mobilise the Polytechnic sector, parents, students and other stakeholders to stop any relationship with such banks. The meeting observed that "these are the very people that are supposed to be the bedrock of any reforms given their practically-oriented training and professionalism as attested to severally by no less personalities than past presidents of ICAN, among others. "What is indeed even more shocking", the release further said, "is that the Banks have never said that these graduates are incompetent or lacking in any skills required for their future operations. If this is the inherent assumption, it must be clearly stated that it lacks merit." The release signed by the Executive Secretary of the NBTE, Dr. Nuru A. Yakubu; Chairman, Committee of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology (COHEADS), Engr. Umaru Sani-Ango and President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students(NAPS), Comrade Martin Luther Nwokocha, submitted that "there is no scientific proof, based on any research whatsoever, to show that those who attended Polytechnics are inferior in terms of skills acquired and competence to university graduates." Indeed, the meeting noted the rigorous quality assurance mechanism in place within the polytechnic sector such that no polytechnic today can award a Higher National Diploma (HND) without NBTE's accreditation. "To say the least", the release added, "the criteria the banks are using in the name of reform and consolidation is discriminatory and negates the principles of equal opportunities to citizens guaranteed under the constitution. If the reports from industries, companies and other employers of labours are anything to go by, holders of HND should be the first graduate employees of choice. The meeting regretted that the decision to sack HND graduates not only violates their rights as Nigerians, but is at variance with the huge resources being invested in the training of polytechnic graduates by government. The meeting added that a meeting of all stakeholders would be convened to proffer lasting solutions to this and other issues militating against the products of the system in the country. http://allafrica.com/stories/200511230454.html |
Oki, NYSC DG quoted last year when the news came out Sunday, August 15, 2004 "What is the fate of HND graduates as regards the youth service? There were reports that they may be barred…… No, no. I don’’t know where the gentleman got the information. He just got up and said NYSC is going to stop mobilizing HND graduates. I don’t know where he got the information. Maybe he had a dream which he thought was a reality, but NYSC is not contemplating the issue at all. NYSC is in the constitution, and everything done in NYSC is according to the constitution" http://www.vanguardngr.com/articles/2002/features/fe415082004.html |
I got a telephone call from the National V.P.(WEST) of NITE just now that LTV / eko fm aired that HND holders will no longer take part in the NYSC. Please can any one assist to confirm this news? |

The Nigerian Institute of Technologists In Engineering held its 2005 Annual General Meeting on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November. The theme was “THE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST IN NIGERIA – EDUCATION, REGULATION AND PROSPECTS”. The Opening Ceremony was chaired by the President of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Engr. Habu Gumel, OON, who was represented by the COREN Registrar, Engr. (Prof.) Olumide Ajose; with the Lagos State Hon. Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Rauf Aregbesola, FNATE, as the Chief Host; and featured addresses from them as well as the National President, Mr. Ramsey Nanna, who presented a Welcome Address in which he expressed pleasure at the presence of the invited dignitaries, traced the history of the body from inception to date and announced the official merger date of the Nigerian Association of Technological Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Engineering Technologists to form the Nigerian Institute of Technologists in Engineering. At the Technical session papers were presented on the sub-themes by Engr. Prof. Olumide Ajose; Engr. Dr. Nuru Yakubu (Executive Secretary, NBTE) and Engr. Obasola Alabi (Membership Secretary, NITE). The conference made the following observations: That a myriad of problems confront the HND graduate in this country, the most prominent of these being: The refusal to acknowledge the HND, obtained after five years of post-secondary education, as a professional qualification – a status it enjoyed in Britain whence we copied our own educational system. The inadequate representation of technologists (and polytechnics) in the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. COREN’s closure of the Mature Route to Engineer’s registration for the HND holder. The Grade Level 14 bar placed on HND holders in the Civil Service, and The stigmatisation of the polytechnic system of education and its products, especially the HND holders in every profession. That all Engineering Technologists should join the Institute and participate actively in its programmes and activities to ensure its virility and reflect its true strength. That, the merger being completed, COREN should work with the Institute to resolve problems affecting the Engineering Technologists. In this regard the Registrar of COREN, Engr. (Prof.) Olumide Ajose, promised that COREN will accept the Corporate Membership of NITE as adequate for registration as Engineering Technologist, subject to certificate verification, without an interview. The conference: Ø Called on COREN to reopen and retain the Mature Route to Registered Engineer status. Ø Demanded a more equitable representation in COREN and the recognition of the HND as a full professional qualification failing which it should pursue the establishment of a Council for the Regulation of Engineering Technology in Nigeria. Ø Roundly condemned the recent decision of a bank to disengage all its HND graduate employees and called on the Federal Government to immediately set in motion measures to permanently bring to an end any and all forms of discrimination against polytechnic graduates. Ø Accepted the proposal by the National Board for Technical Education to arrange a meeting of stakeholders (Nigerian Institute of Technological Engineers, Council of Heads of Polytechnics in Nigeria & Federal Ministry of Education) to critically evaluate the issues relating to polytechnic education in Nigeria and articulate a policy position for resolving the unhealthy perception of this very important sector of our education. |
Godbless you prettyH , I have more than 3 university admissions but could not go. No parent to carry the financial load. ondogi , not all that attend poly are fools. In the past only failed school certificate holders work in the banks. It is a waste and abuse of personnel for graduates to work in the banks, no respect for women or marriage institution they do so now because no JOBS. To hell with ACCESS bank, is that the policy in developed world? ICAN and other professional body that issued certificate to Poly graduates and state university graduates should rise up and defend their certificates. What is the practice outside Nigeria? I with my HND I earn more than their Directors. Apartheid bank that will soon fold up. Poor people that can not buy admission ended up in the polytechnic or state Universities. Or why is it now that Jamb exam is no longer sufficient for University admission because of ACCESS to corruption. |
Commonwealth scholarship advert on page 45 & 46 of punch newspaper of 24/11/05 shows that all discrimination son HND came from Ministry of Education. No Hnd, Pgd holders are qualify to apply. God dey Gaskia ne |
I as Deputy National President of Nigerian Institute of Technologists in Engineering reported this matter to NBTE, While waiting for their reply, We wish they could close down all the polytechnics to help the like of LEXY247 from wasting money. There is no way to compare graduates from Polytechnic to those from the University, you had both HND Engineering Technology (from YABATECH) and BSc in Engineering science (from UNILAG) . I pity you for wasting money and time, because the level of education do not determine success. What I was taught at the HND level was the course work at my M. Sc level , because polytechnics middle "LEVEEEEL" ends at the OND. Most lecturer deliberately lower the HND standard during your own time and NBTE calling it Engineering Technology. Whereas Unilag Had the system for Basic Engineering sciences. not real engineering. Bsc is not same as Beng Or B.Tech. |
That is my crusade now. Check it out on AIT ETC War against polytechnic as this case was reported by me to NBTE. |
Sympathetic talk. I just came back from a meeting with NBTE over this issue. Forget it. We are no longer ready to go to the polytechnic. |
You are right. As HND accountancy Pass ICAN more than the BSC Accounting because they write the part 1 exams whereas the Bsc is exempted. Did you read the SUN newspaper of last week? where a bank force all HND+ ICAN, HND + MBA etc holders out of work. It is crime for going through Polytechnic in NIGERIA. |
Seun:no body would want to answer those questions. |
The church lawyer be wise now donnie |
