GALLAS OUT FOR THE SEASON
Posted 09/04/09 12:52EmailPrintSave

Champions League 2008/09 Win Outright: Arsenal 5/1
Arsenal defender William Gallas has been ruled out for the remainder of the season by the medial knee ligament damage he suffered in the Champions League draw at Villarreal.

The Gunners will also be without goalkeeper Manuel Almunia for three weeks after he suffered an ankle injury in Tuesday's 1-1 quarter-final first-leg draw.

Full-back Gael Clichy will miss two weeks with a back injury, while Robin van Persie and Eduardo will undergo fitness tests ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League match at Wigan.

The Gunners battled back to secure their draw at El Madrigal, with Emmanuel Adebayor netting his third goal in two games with a superb overhead kick.

They were already resigned to being without Almunia for next week's return at the Emirates Stadium, and manager Arsene Wenger admitted on Wednesday he was expecting Gallas to be out for the rest of the season.

Arsenal do have veteran former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre fit again, however - so there is cover at the back for Gallas, who has been one of the Gunners' most consistent players over the past few months.

I agree wholeheartedly with the highlighted
Billy has been a gem since he was stripped of the captain's arm band.
We will miss him!
Meanwhile AW should let that English boycant remember his name nowplay left back instead of  Silvestre.
Silvestre should just be assisting the coaching crew grin

Vanilla Ice isn't a coward.
Must really have been injured.
and I think its that same foot that El Hadji Diouf attempted to dismember from his body a few weeks ago.
Diouf should have been given a straight red.

The Goal is very similar to Ronaldinho's back in Barcelona.
I was thinking Arshavin's goal was the arsenal's goal of the season so far,but its got to be ADE's goal.
Wow.

Is this Villareal or Brazil grin

This tie is over. I'm switching over to Man Utd match. Arsenals epitaph has already been written and they have been buried in the quarterfinal once again. cheesy

Man Utd couldn't beat Villareal over 2 legs and Arsenal fans thought it was gonna be a cakewalk? I laugh in Kirike.
How many times have u been told that analysing footie at half time and concluding it's over is only done by newbies!!!
Why not ssshhhhh until after the match?
Gosh

Update: Nasri and Walcott pass fitness tests and are travelling to Spain for the first leg. cool

RVP, Diaby and Dudu still out, even Rozzi is being mentioned these days shocked shocked

All in all, with Nasri back in the side, we won't miss AA23's creativity too much. Ade and Bendtner will have to be sufficient trouble for the leaky Villareal defence and I am sure the big men are up for the task.
With Robin, not available, I see us playing a 4-5-1 formation
With Ade isolated upfront, Denilson and Song sitting back,Fab4 being allowed the freedom to roam,Prince Nas and Theo on the flanks.
Of Course, the back 4 will still be Clichy-Billy-Kolo-Sagna, with Vanilla Iceone of the best players this season as the Goalie.
Come on Arsenal. cool
Let's sink the submarines! cool

I told him that Aston Villa were pretenders and will soon capitulate!!!
What a strike from the young lad, Macheda!!
Lazio may just be wondering why they let the lad go!
