debosky:
I keep telling Kit, something fishy is going on with this Ade schitzo.

Dudu had a hamstring strain and was back in 3 weeks max - Ade has been out since February 8th with a hamstring. undecided

To top it all off, he PLAYS for Togo today, and hasn't even been listed on the bench for Arsenal in that period, indicating to me that he has been fit for a while now. It seems AW might be planning to sell him in the summer, but doesn't want him to screw up further so he can get a good price.

Not too sure this is the case, but it will definitely be fishy to be injured for two months and not even be mentioned as fit by the coach, but you then fly off to play for your national team? undecided

Anyways, as long as he is still an Arsenal player at the moment, I'm glad he's fit again. cool
My thoughts exactly.
AW has been silent uncharacteristically about ADE.
In fact, the reason why the media jumped on this story about Ade playing for Togo was
beacause, he wasnt even named as a substitute for the Newcastle game!!!!!!
The coming weeks will make it clearer to us what hanky panky may be going on lipsrsealed

F365 Top Ten: The Players Of The Year
Posted 24/03/09 09:57EmailPrintSave

It's around this time that both the PFA and the Football Writers' Association will be voting for their player of year awards, so we rank the contenders for this season's prizes. Who do we think should be top, ?

10 - Ryan Giggs
The most surprising thing about Giggs is that you barely notice that he's 57, or however the hell old he is. It's a remarkable achievement to still be playing at the highest level at his age, and his transformation from fading winger to elder-statesman central midfielder has added years to his career. However, the sort of adulation that he received around the turn of the year was exaggerated. Sure, he's playing well for his age, but the suggestion that he should be given the top award is ludicrous.

9 - Ledley King
He doesn't train, his knee is like a Jenga tower and he's only started 17 league games at the time of writing, but King's contribution in those 17 games has been immense. Every time he plays we find ourselves shaking our heads at the shame that he can't manage a proper stint, and Spurs fans must cry themselves to sleep at night over that one. Comparisons to Paul McGrath are inevitable, but would Spurs have been in their early season mess with a fully fit King? Almost certainly not. A mention must go to Aaron Lennon too, whose form in the last few weeks has been the best of his career.

8 - Ashley Young
If this list was being compiled a few months ago Young would be much nearer the top. His form at the beginning of the campaign finally persuaded Fabio Capello that he was worth a spot in the England squad, but his similarly disappointing play as the wheels of Aston Villa's season started to wobble cost him his place. That said, his graduation from promising flyer to genuinely class act will not be forgotten - and his relative slump will be forgotten in years to come.

7 - Xabi Alonso
And just think, if Rafa Benitez's plans for the summer of 2008 had come to pass, Alonso would be plying his trade in Italy. Last season Alonso appeared off the pace, a luxury who performed when given time in Europe but who was too often a passenger at home. However, his poise and glorious passing ability have returned this campaign, allowing those ahead of him to flourish. Would Liverpool's title challenge have sustained itself without his calming presence alongside Javier Mascherano?

6 - Brad Friedel
Never mind Edwin van der Sar, who has the benefit of a rock-solid defence in front of him, Friedel has been the best keeper in the Premier League this season. Villa's goals against record (36 at the time of writing) might not compare that favourably to the top four they aspire to break, but remember that Friedel has played most of the season without the protection of Villa's best defender (Martin Laursen), with a midfielder at right-back and a right-back on the left. It's no coincidence that Blackburn's goal difference is 21 worse than at the same stage last season, when Friedel rather than Paul Robinson was between the sticks.

5 - Mikel Arteta
Tim Cahill deserves plenty of credit, if only for the frequency with which he pops up with vital goals, but Arteta offers more to Everton's general play than his Australian counterpart. It remains one of the great mysteries of our time that David Moyes had to pay only £2million for the ludicrously talented Spaniard, and it must be a source of unending frustration for Arteta that he was born in the same generation as Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta and Alonso. His importance to Everton could be seen in Moyes's ashen face when he was ruled out for the rest of the season at Newcastle, and although they don't seem to have missed him quite as much as we thought, his importance cannot be overstated.

4 - Robin van Persie
The complaint about Van Persie was always that his lack of consistent fitness precluded him from becoming the player that his potential suggested. However, this season his body has held up to the tune of 24 league appearances and counting, and he has shown much of the talent that we all knew was in there. 16 goals in all competitions makes him Arsenal's top-scorer, but it's the figure of ten assists - making him the most prolific provider in the Premier League - that is arguably more impressive. The slight frustration remains that he is still not quite living up to his potential. Imagine what he could do.

3 - Brede Hangeland
A colossus, probably helped by the fact that he looks like a cross between Nemanja Vidic and the Easter Island statues. The acquisition of Hangeland in January last season could well be the best of Roy Hodgson's many excellent decisions since taking over at the end of 2007. After 30 games last season Fulham were second bottom having let in 49 goals, and this term they are ninth with 26 in their 'Against' column. It's a remarkable feat for a side to challenge for a UEFA Cup spot having scored just a goal a game. Mark Schwarzer and the settled nature of Fulham's back four deserve plenty of credit, but Hangeland has been the primary factor in Fulham's success.

2 - Steven Gerrard
If Liverpool complete a remarkable turnaround and overhaul Manchester United, it's quite possible that Gerrard will deserve this award. However, with players and football writers filling in their ballot forms while United still sit at the top of the league, Gerrard will and should just miss out. That said, he is still Liverpool's driving force. While Fernando Torres could have made the difference had he been fit all season, and Alonso probes and creates space for Gerrard to perform, the truth remains that when Gerrard ticks, so do Liverpool. Goals, energy, passing, sheer force of personality - take your pick. Without him Liverpool would be half the team they are.

1 - Nemanja Vidic
While his calamitous performance against Liverpool arguably cost United that game, Vidic has been immense for the rest of the season. An immovable, occasionally brutish force at the back, it is he rather than van der Sar who should be given the lion's share of the credit for their remarkable run of clean sheets earlier in the season. While Jonny Evans has proved an able deputy when Vidic has been unavailable, it is noticable how much more vulnerable United are when Vidic is not in the team. Awards are too rarely given to defenders (John Terry is the only defender to win the PFA prize in the last fifteen years, and the last centre-half the Football Writers deemed worthy was Kenny Burns), but Vidic is the clear choice this season. Forget that his mistakes may have opened the title race - he is the main reason United are there in the first place.

That story of Bobby Pires was probably reycled by maybe NOTW
Because, I have read where he said he was disappointed at being subbed in the CL finals before, at least 2 years ago!!! shocked
Read the one below and see that Bobby still loves Arsenal and read what he said about AW!

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/03/22/champions-league-arsenal-v-villareal-was-my-dream-draw-says-robert-pires-115875-21217763/

By Steve Stammers, sundaymirror.co.uk 22/03/2009

UEFA Champions League

Robert Pires has described his delight at the Champions League draw which paired Villarreal with an Arsenal team he served for six years with such distinction.

Pires believes he played the best football of his career with the Gunners - and now he is eagerly anticipating his return to north London.

"I'm more than happy at the draw - I'm ecstatic," said Pires, who joined Villarreal on a free transfer a matter of months after helping to eliminate them from the Champions League in a tense and dramatic semi-final three years ago.

"Arsenal has so many great memories for me," said the French World Cup winner who joined Arsenal from Marseille in the summer of 2000 for £5million.

He went on to score 62 goals in 189 appearances for Arsene Wenger's team and was also crowned Footballer of the Year in 2002. He also won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups.
Pires admitted: "It was a fantastic time to play football for the club with the likes of Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Freddie Ljungberg and Dennis Bergkamp.

"I cannot wait for the two matches and it will be a marvellous experience for me to play at The Emirates for the first time. I am told that it is a superb stadium.

"It can't have the same feel as Highbury. That was much smaller, more intimate.

"You even got to recognise the fans who were there every week. There were the same faces." shocked shocked shocked

He added: "Yes, I am happy now in Villarreal. I am half Spanish, so the culture and the lifestyle suits me.

"But I will never forget my time at Arsenal and it will be wonderful for me to see people like Arsene Wenger again.
"Arsenal were the best club that I have had in my career.GBAM

The best. And it will seem strange to play against them."

Arsenal beat Villarreal in 2006 thanks to a last-minute penalty save by keeper Jens Lehmann from Juan Roman Riquelme. It meant Arsenal won 1-0 on aggregate and they went on to lose 2-1 to Barcelona in the final in Paris.

"But this will be a very open tie with two more open games than the last time we played," said Pires, who is aware of Arsenal's sudden return to form. "They had a bad period for a while, but now they have some top players coming back like Cesc Fabregas.
"That will make a difference. It will become a very different game for us than it would have been two months ago."

Arsenal fans will remember Pires as an inventive, goalscoring wide midfield player. Now he plays a much deeper role.

He said: "I play more central. I am 35 now and I can't play in all of the games. I used to be mainly on the left, but now I have moved to the middle.

"And believe me, I'll also be well prepared for Arsenal!"

Now DDK , compare this with that 'THRASH' from Goal.com
and see that the former story must have been recycled bringing up previous quotes to fit into a story, scummies and all other haterz would like to read.

Mutiu Adepoju was undoubtedly the original headmaster.
His aerial prowess extends beyond the shores of the Nigerian league. . . . .He took it to Saudi 89 where he scored a smasher against USA in the semis.
Scoring against Kasey Keller in 1989 is like scoring against 5 Petr Cechs in goal.[/quote]Well, its debatable.
Unfortunately, Wakilu couldn't do much internationally, as he didnt play age group competitions and Nigeria didn't make it to the world cup, then
He was restricted to Africa and the local league where he was the pivot in attack for Super Stationery Stores.

Next Question.
Arguably, Nigeria's best goalie, Peter Rufai left the shores of this country in the mid 80s to play for Dragons of Benin Republic.
