Some people say there must be profit before taxes can be charged. That is a layman thinking. When PAYE is charged on salary, what profit do the payers make? There is what is called taxable income. This is simply what is left after some statutory allowances are deducted from the gross income.

There was a time that churches were charitable organizations. They were blessings to any society and environment and so were encouraged by not being taxed. That churches are being considered to be taxed means their perception in the public are changing. They are no longer being seen with the eyes of a blessing to the society. There is little care if they exist or not.
Also their was a time that churches were being supported by governments so they can continue in existence. But now pastors and churches are so so rich that they are being seen as a way of helping the society. The Church actually attracted these to themselves by showing off their wealths.
I sincerely hope that only the H/Q will be taxed

This tithing topic raised three issues: Should christian pay tithe? Must tithe be paid to the Church? Are there ways that tithes are meant to be used?

SHOULD CHRISTIANS PAY TITHE?
It's not so easy to prove for or against this point and be very convincing. Jesus did tell the Pharisees that they were right in paying tithe. But His Disciples didn't seem to care about tithes. Paul told the Corinthians that other apostles were exercising their rights to collect money from them, but he was less interested in that matter. From the context of Paul, what He got from the churches were his rights, but then it was a freewill offering. If Jesus told the Pharisees that they were right to pay tithes but the disciples didn't preach that gospel to the churches; perhaps tithing was just to be a Jewish thing and not a christian thing. But then it is clear that your pastors do have a right to ask and receive money from the members. If they choose to exercise their rights in the form of tithes and offering, I don't think they are wrong. The bible didn't tell them how they should go about it.

MUST TITHES BE PAID IN THE CHURCH?
This also is not so easy to answer. On the most parts of the bible tithes are to be paid to the priests. This means it must be in the church. But then a place in Deuteronomy said tithes are to be dropped at the gates of your house for beggars, priests, widow, orphans to eat. Maybe the clause tithes of the third year makes this tithes different from others. But we have to be careful before we become Jews and no longer christians. Personally I don't think it is right to pay your tithe intentionally to the poor and needy. This so called poor are really your family and friends which you should have helped anyway without your tithes. If occasion brings a total stranger and you have to help them and what you have is your tithe, please help them with your tithe. I think that is what Jesus would have done. Because he preaches love your neighbour as yourself. Who will need a medical operations of 100k and pay tithe of 10k from it? None will.

IS THERE A DEFINED WAY TITHES ARE TO BE USED?
It depends on what you are ready: Deuteronomy only or all the reference to tithes except that in Deuteronomy. Why others said it was for the priests, which means they can spend it on themselves as any other income earners; Deuteronomy said it should be given to the poor, orphat, etc.

The conclusion is that those that speak against tithes really don't have a conclusive evidence to say christians are not required to pay tithe. On the other hands, those that priest for tithes too don't have a solid backing from the bible to preach it. They are even afraid to defend their position. Generally if the church continues like this, they will have to come to that place where followers will begin to question things that were not questioned before. Just try to be modest.

What is painful is that we appear not to have a word to reply those that have asked us the reason for our faith. Instead we distract by doing name calling and insulting. I must say, freeze appears to be telling the truth now.

A pastor is not a levite, both words are clearly not same.

The word 'Malachi is the name of an English Man. The in Hebrew it's not someone's name, it is ''Mal'akhiy" and this means "the prophets.

Its a book for the levites and Malachi 3 vs 10 was specifically for the prophets who don't bring "the whole tithe" into the house of God. Only the levite brings food for the lords storehouse, not the people.

If u have any idea of what geneology is, you would know that every law about tithing was given by God in Deuteronomy n Leviticus and not in Malachi. Also sure u don't know that the levites/pastors should pay tithe.

You even said there is no difference between a car owner and a private jet owner. The pope still fly around using commercial plane and he's the head of the biggest church in the world. You also asked why critics didn't sell their cars and give the money to the poor. Brain farts is what you have. There is a planet difference between a man/woman who worked hard, bought a car and a pastor who cajole and threaten members with poverty to take 10% of their earnings in the name of tithe.

There you go again making wrong conclusions. The OP mentioned organisational structure in his analysis. The Pope does not go from parish to parish to conduct masses but these pastor do. Catholic is decentralised but the churches are centralised.

My poor brother, you that is wiser where has that wisdom taken you to? Use google to check on testimonies of blessing through tithing. I accept that we Christians are not under obligation to pay tithes. But I also agree that there is blessing in giving. Tithing for me is a good system or windom for me to sow seeds for my future. Be it to u according to your faith. There is a blessing for giving, whatever name you call it; there is no blessing for not giving whatever excuse you may have for it.

You quote things half half to suit yourself. The quotation on tithe been paid to everyone but pastor was not a regular tithe, it was a special tithe of the third year. Study that up to learn better.
As for the whole of Malachi been addressed to only the Priests; again you are doing half half quotation. The earlier parts of the quote was concentrated on the priests but the later part was to the people and it touched on many subjects. Do a complete study next time sir. In analysis there is what is called "Application of Judgement". This is where you try to use equal scale to measure things that are of different dimensions. In Jesus days, the means of transportation was Foot, Donkey, and boat. Did Jesus not use all of these in His Days? Donkey was one of the most expensive back then. Jesus was to travel from Bethel to Jericho-all within Jerusalem. He had trek longer distance before but He chose that "luxury".
The OP has done a good work of analysis. He mentioned very good factors to use to measure this expenditure/luxury. The size of the church, the spread of the church, the organisational structure.
It will cost more to use "public jets" than to use private jets in these circumstances.

The 4th quarter is always the most profitable. While this is a good performance, you have to compare that with other banks. You also need to study how the profit was made and how sustainable it will be. What do they pay their staff? What is their debts status? How old is their assets and when will it be replaced? etc.
