Very unprofessional of lazio and also the Italian league in general, this is a professional league for freak sake, why should they indirectly "sell " a league game to inter? Disgusted, was watching the match and when i saw the scoreline changed, i decided to do the same by changing the channel. ![]() |

NPL records 27 goals in Week 30 matches Filed under Uncategorized 4 comments A total of 27 goals were scored in 10 Week 30 matches of the Nigeria Premier League. The highest number of goals came from Kaduna, where Kaduna United bounced back from their scandalous 0-5 loss to Sharks in Week 29 to defeat Heartland 3-2. Naijapremierleague.com reports that fans of Kaduna United went home satisfied that the team was able to secure the maximum points from the star-studded Heartland. Ironically, Heartland conceded the same number of goals they scored against Sunshine in last Thursday’s rescheduled match. . Leaders, Pillars and Wikki Tourists recorded the highest home victory with four unreplied goals against their opponents. In the reverse fixture, Pillars fell 0-4 to Warri Wolves and ensured that the Warri side got same treatment in Kano. Like Wolves, Ranch Bees were helpless in their match at Wikki wherethey conceded four goals. The matches in Port-Harcourt and Aba also recorded four goals each. Dolphins hit Bayelsa 3-1, while Enyimba spoilt Tornadoes’ visit with a 3-1 victory. |

Yaro-Yaro believes Pillars can win NPL Naijapremierleague.com After Sunday’s 4-0 Kano pounding of highly rated Warri Wolves, Kano Pillars legend, Ahmed Garba, fondly Yaro-Yaro, believes the club is on the verge of winning their second title. Yaro-Yaro disclosed this to naijapremierleague.com while assessing the performance of the team in Sunday’s epic league clash. “All we need to do is pray that we continue with this impressive form,” said the former Nigeria International and Denmark based star. “We understand ourselves in Kano Pillars because we’ve been playing together for sometime,” he added. Wolves got more than what they bargained for in a match that lived up to its rating despite the top fixtures in Sunday’s English Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester United struggling for the big prize. Interestingly, Pillars played without league revelation and highest goalscorer, Ahmed Musa, who is still nursing an injury. Speaking on the quality of players in Pillars, Yaro-Yaro said: “People don’t know that we have many good players in Pillars. We missed him on match day and we are expecting him to return back soon.” With the absence of Musa, Pillars coach, Salisu Yusuf stated that the likes of Gambo Mohammed and Moses Ogaga would cover for the missing Musa. Indeed, the players confirmed Yusuf’s statement as Mohammed got a brace while Ogaga and Solomon Okpako got one goal each to complete the annihilation of Wolves. Like Musa, Yaro-Yaro was unavailable for selection on match day. Reacting on his absence, the former Denmark based player said: “You don’t change a winning team” The 4-0 defeat is the worst suffered by Warri Wolves since joining the elite class in Nigeria’s Premier League. |
WAFU Cup Star, Salami, boosts rating in goals chart Filed under Uncategorized no comments Super Eagles forward, Eugene Salami, one of the revelations at the just concluded West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup tourney has continued to improve on his goalscoring feat. Salami, who scored the only goal as Niger Tornadoes dumped former champions, Dolphins, in Week 29, continued from where he stopped with his 11th goal of the campaign despite the 1-3 defeat to star-studded, Enyimba, on Sunday. With 11 goals scored so far, naijapremierleague.com statistics reveal that the Nigerian International is only four goals away from Ahmed Musa, who is leading the chart with 15 goals. An own goal following Sakibu Atanda’s effort gave Enyimba their first goal, while Daddy Bazuaye increased the tally. Kalu Uche made it three for the Aba Elephants before Salami reduced the margin with a goal for his team. |
Dike, Owoeri win Naija Premier League Manager and Player Awards for April Filed under Uncategorized no comments Panelists of Naijaligue..com and Naijapremierleague.com have named Enugu Rangers’ head coach, Alphonsus Dike and John Owoeri of Heartland Football Club as the Manager and Player for the month of April on Monday. Dike edged the likes of John Obuh of Sharks, Salisu Yusuf of Kano Pillars, Ben Duamlong of Gombe United and Justin Tenger of Kwara United to the Manager Award for April with just a point. On the back of the Flying Antelopes unbeaten run in the month of April that includes two wins and a draw, Dike was picked for the award organised by Nigeria’s two biggest independent web portals on the Premier League. However, Heartland returnee from trials with Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew, Owoeri stunned other candidates for the April Player of the Month Award with a last day performance in which he netted a hat-trick. In keeping with its yardstick for selecting the Player of the Month, Naijaligue..com and Naijapremierleague.com picked Owoeri for scoring three goals last month. The Heartland diminutive wing attacker scored all three goals in last Thursday’s rescheduled fixture against Sunshine Stars at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri. Before Owoeri put up a five-star performance against Sunshine Stars to nick the April award, eight players were in line for the same award until last Thursday. The eight players edged by Owoeri are Mannir Ubale (Bayelsa Utd), Pascal Ejike (Sharks), Victor Barnabas (Lobi Stars), Sibi Gwar (Kwara Utd), Juwon Oshaniwa (Sharks), Gambo Muhammad (Kano Pillars), Austin Kadiri (Zamfara Utd) and Ibrahim Abdullahi (Gombe Utd). This is the first time that Dike and Owoeri would be named as winners of the monthly award, which began in January 2010. CEO of Naija Premier League Awards, Aikhoje Ojeikere, said plans are underway to recognise all the winners of the monthly award at the end of the season. “We hope to give the winners some form of recognition for their achievement in this season’s league campaign. Hopefully this will be done at the end of the season,” he said |

Five spots left in Nigeria squad There are only five spots open for grabs in Lars Lagerback's Nigeria squad for the World Cup, after team media officer Idah Peterside told SuperSport.com that the Swede knows 'eighty percent' of his final team. That is roughly 18 of the 23 players that will be selected for the World Cup in June. Lagerback will cut down a 44-man provisional squad to 30 ahead of Fifa's May 12 deadline for all participating teams to send in their preliminary squad lists. Trouble is, the former Sweden coach will have to do so without having met his team as a group, but Peterside said it was not an issue. "He knows the majority of the team he wants to take to the World Cup, about eighty percent," the media officer said. Peterside said Lagerback knows the players from having visited them, watching tapes and speaking with them on the phone. "Since he took the job, he has travelled to about 10 countries and watched a lot of the players. He has also looked at the tapes of most of the games the team have played in the last two years and he has a good idea of who he wants at the World Cup. "Other players must get a chance to try to break into the team for the World Cup, and the remaining spaces are for those players to convince the coach that they are good enough." Lagerback will use my players - Amodu by Colin Udoh 23/04/2010 15:01 Former Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu says he will be surprised if technical adviser Lars Lagerback goes to the World Cup with less than '15 to 18' of the players he took to the African Nations Cup in Angola. Amodu was vociferously criticised by fans and media for taking 'benchwarmers' and 'unfit' players to Angola. But Lagerback's provisional squad of 44 includes all but two of the players Amodu invited, with the recuperating Yusuf Mohammed, and fellow defender Obinna Nwaneri the only exclusions. But there has been little of the vituperation that followed Amodu's squad release, and the former BCC coach says he will be surprised if Lagerback makes any radical changes. "I will be surprised if he goes to the World Cup with less than 15 to 18 of the players I took to Angola," Amodu told SuperSport.com exclusively. "He has invited the same players because any good coach will know that you have to manage the resources you have properly. These are the same players I was managing creatively with all the different problems they were having with their clubs and we were getting results, but people were clamouring for drastic changes. "It does not work that way." © SuperSport.com page | 1 Anonymous Sunday 25 Apr 2010 23:43:47 To be Honest, Amodu may be right in his comment regarding the players but the major reason we can not use him for the W/C is because he lacks the technical ability at that top level. The players are OK, but a coach that can not read a match will definitely fail in the world cup. The nations cup is a typical example thats exposes the lack of technical ability. Anonymous Sunday 25 Apr 2010 15:27:10 This guy is a fool, can't U just stop talking for once Anonymous Saturday 24 Apr 2010 17:20:28 There is nothing wrong with AMODU nor the Players except some few like Joseph Yobo and some who make ceili mistake when on pitch. Those who want AMODU to be drop is because of sentiment which i reserve my comment. NFF will soffer the rot of sadlinning AMODU Anonymous Friday 23 Apr 2010 15:41:02 My comment is that nigeria fooball is corrupted, their is nothing wrong with Amodu. Changing the coach is not the solution. The solution is to develop our league and setup our our football governance very well. |

How could such statement come from an authority as Peterside. Why did lagerbeer invite such a bloated team of 44 players when he could have as well sent 23 names straight to Fifa. I thought it was to enable him test them so as to pick his final 23 players on current form.Fellow countrymen, is it possible to pick players on current form just by mere watching video clips or telephone calls. Naija, lets wake up from our slumber and learn to believe in ourselves and not in a white man"s skin.May The good Lord help us. From: Austine Mbat. Anonymous Friday 30 Apr 2010 12:37:59 lagerback has been watching tapes and watching magzines. he would soon be watching playstation games to be able to know his squad. what a lunatic.i wished we didnt qualify.poor tunishians Anonymous Friday 30 Apr 2010 10:05:27 to b sincere, i still expect rabiu ibrahim in d squard cos he is d only man who can handle d mildfield. it seems someone is still directing largerback cos most of d players are still d former eagles player, there should b a great change in d team. as knowing d squard, he may b right cos he knows all of them b/4 now. thanks. Anonymous Thursday 29 Apr 2010 11:02:58 IT IS ALL STORIES, THE COACH WILL STILL USE AMODU'S TEAM. THE ISSUE IS WE HAVE NOT PLAYED A SINGLE FRIENDLY MATCH AND OUR CAMP OPENS LATE MAY AND OUR FIRST MARCH IS ON JUNE 12TH AGAINST AGENTINA. SO, HOW MUCH TIME DO THEY HAVE TO BLEND? COS WE DON'T HAVE A TEAM BLENDED TEAM. |
