@semid I'm trying not to get angry with u, whats ur problem with me? I have the right to criticize whoever i want to criticize as long as he's a civil servant and as long as i feel his actions are not on the right direction so stop policing me for your own good. If u feel i'm nagging, u've the right to shut up, ignore my comments or suck up. |
And what are his programs? Did he show them to you? If u have a plan and u're in d midst of others with no plan, it would make u visible from the lot because you'd influence the rest with no plans. |
@dis guy Wetin dey do u now?lol, why should bbc write about what they don't know anything about? Those that are closer to the local league stage cant even get the whole details on the league, is it bbc thats 2000 miles away from the league venues that should be trusted and accepted? The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has come out to declare that the 15 goals credited to Kano Pillars’ attacking winger, Ahmad Musa, in the country’s press contradicts record before it. NPL Executive Secretary, Alhhassan Yakmut, told Naijaligue..com that the 17-year-old has actually scored 14 goals, according to the records made available to him since the start of the season. “I think you people (in the media) are misleading the public on the number of goals that Ahmad Musa of Kano Pillars has scored this season. The record we have here as the organisers of the league is that he has scored 14 goals this season. I believe that we cannot be wrong because every information or statistics on the Premier League gets to us before anybody. So, we have the record here and if you want it we will make it available to prove that he scored 14 goals,” Yakmut said. Yakmut, who is currently acting as a sole administrator of the Premier League in the absence of a board, promised that the NPL would make available a rundown of Musa’s 14 goals so far this season, according to the records in the secretariat of the league arbiter. “Like I said earlier I will make the breakdown of the 14 goals scored by Ahmad Musa of Kano Pillars available to you,” the NPL scribe told Naijaligue..com at the weekend. Former spokesman of Kano Pillars, Shehu Adamu, however, disputed the claims of the NPL saying that Musa’s current tally, according to the media is correct. “There shouldn’t be any dispute about it because the boy has scored 15 goals this season,” Adamu reacted. When contacted, the man in the centre of the controversy, Musa, said he would also make available records from his club to Naijaligue..com. The former Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) Football Club man did not want to get into many words concerning the issue. “I don’t think it is a big matter because I know I scored 15 goals. The records are there at the club and I can tell them to make it available,” the teenage striker said. But the NPL has been guilty of refusing to make available statistics to Premier League correspondents at the end of every round of matches. At the same time, the Premier League has failed to make use of its official website in posting statistics on number of goals and appearances of players in the 20 clubs as well as cards handed out for every game. This is not the first time that the NPL is disputing the number of goals scored by highest goal scorers in the top-flight. Last season, former Akwa United man, Akarandut Orok, faced similar situation before the air was cleared when the player and his club produced evidence to back up his claim to have scored 17 goals. Back in 2002, it was the same situation when Joetex Frimpong, then with El-Kanemi Warriors scored 17 goals, but was credited with 16 goals. NPL reschedule Ranch Bees/Enyimba tie The Nigeria Premier League has rescheduled the Week 29 Premier League encounter between Ranch Bees FC and Enyimba Int’l FC earlier slated for Thursday, April 29, 2010. According to the NPL, the match will now hold on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. The change in date became imperative due to unfavourable flight schedule being experienced by Enyimba Int’l FC in Congo, after their CAF Confederations Cup match against RD Congo side, A, S Vita. Host, A.S. Vita battered the Nigerians 3-0 on match day. |
Oluwaniyi rues Rangers defeat Shooting Stars and home based Eagles safe hands, Segun Oluwaniyi has expressed his disappointment over the team’s 1-0 defeat by Enugu Rangers last Sunday, describing the result as unfair. Rangers scooped the maximum points at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium when Frederick Okwara struck with only nine minutes left to play, a situation the goalkeeper feels sad about. Oluwaniyi, who incidentally, starred for Rangers in the past, was full of praise for the gutsy pergformance exhibited by the Oluyole Warriors, and rued the hard luck that befell the team. ‘We really gave Rangers a good fight and a good run for their money, and somehow I am of the opinion that our efforts should have earned us a point at least. ‘But all the same we congratulate Rangers for their victory. This will only ginger us to greater heights as we battle to redeem our pride in the Nigerian premiership,’ added Oluwaniyi, who starred in the game. The rivalry between 3SC and Rangers dates back to the 70s when matches involving the teams drew massive crowds. Last Sunday’s game was no different as fans thronged the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in their numbers to witness another classic. By Mark Ogagan Source: shootingstarssc.com |

NPL slams Ocean Boys goalkeeper, Iboro Akpankpan The Nigeria Premier League has placed an indefinite suspension on Ocean Boys. Goalkeeper, Iboro Akpankpan, for violating the Rules and Regulations of the league. Akpankpan violently punched Kwara Utd player, Segun Atere, in their Week 29 Globacom Premier League match played over the weekend at the Ilorin Township Stadium. In a statement signed by Head Competition Department, Mr. Tunji Babalola, the NPL expressed displeasure and frowned seriously at the ugly incident. According to Babalola: “Players must be professional in nature and be good ambassadors of the league. Moreover they should not indulge in attitude that tends to discredit the league and bring the game to disrepute” For his conduct on match day, Akpankpan has been fined Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200, 000.00), for violating Articles 5.6 (1) and 7.0 (1) of the rules and regulations of NPL. 2009/2010 International Transfers from Nigeria Premier League OVER the years, the Nigeria Premier League has remained a fertile ground for football clubs in Europe to scout for players. Clubs from other lucrative leagues in Sudan, Tunisia, Egypt, South Africa, Asia and America’s M.L.S. also track the progress of players in the Nigerian League. Despite the criticisms of the league, Nigerian players remain in hot demand in foreign clubs. The typical Nigerian player has the WILL to overcome odds. This explains why Nigerians strive even in cold leagues in Ukraine and the Scandinavia. The influx of a number of foreign stars into the Nigerian league is a confirmation of the attention from overseas. It is widely believed that the Nigerian League is a faster route to foreign clubs. In this report, Naijapremierleague.com’s OJEIKERE AIKHOJE profiles TEN players who left the Nigerian Premier League for clubs abroad since the current season kicked off last year. 1. Micheal Uchebo: Enugu Rangers to VVV Venlo (Holland) After a brilliant outing for one of Nigeria’s most popular clubs, Enugu Rangers, Uchebo caught the attention of scouts from modest Dutch side, VVV Venlo. The former Rangers star was a member of Nigeria’s U-20 squad at the 2009 Africa Youth Championship (A.Y.C.), in Rwanda, but couldn’t make it to the World Youth Championship (W.Y.C.) in Egypt. Uchebo satisfied the club’s technical crew after undergoing trials and is now one of the club’s reliable players. The former youth international officially joined Venlo in December 2009. 2. Nduka Ozokwo: Enugu Rangers to Boluspor (Turkey) Nduka Ozokwor who is the mould of Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips came to limelight at Enugu Rangers. He is a product of Lawrence Akpokona’s coaching tactics. The youngster got his break at his first and only Premier League side, Enugu Rangers. From Rangers he got an invitation to the Nigerian U-20 squad and played in the Africa Youth Championship in Republic of Congo as well as the World Youth Championship in Canada 2007. In July 2007, French side OGC Nice gave him a chance to play football in Europe. At the Côte d’Azur club he plays alongside compatriot Onyekachi Apam, also a former Enugu Rangers player. Unlike Apam, Ozokwor struggled to earn a regular shirt in the French side and eventually left the club on June 30, 2009. Back home, his former club, Enugu Rangers grabbed him as he staged a comeback to the Nigerian Premier League. However, his return to Rangers was short-lived as he joined Boluspor on January 29, 2010. 3. Uche Agba: Heartland to Club Sportif Sfaxien (Tunisia) Tunisian side, Club Sportif Sfaxien, which is well known for their interest in players from the Nigerian League were busy monitoring Uche Agba during the 2009 CAF Champions League when Heartland went all the way to the finals, but lost to eventual champions, T.P. Mazembe. Agba was no doubt one of the best players in the Heartland squad. Despite losing to Mazembe, he was linked to several clubs in the continent and Sfaxien got their man afterall. Agba has already put his name in the scorer’s chart in Tunisia. 4. King Osanga: Heartland to Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia) Osanga’s road to stardom began at the cadet level when he earned a place in Nigeria’s U-17 National Team. He won the African championship in Togo and also won the World Cup in South-Korea, all in 2007. His club career began at Akwa United F.C. and moved to Heartland in 2009 to boost their CAF Champions League squad after representing Nigeria at 2009 FIFA World Youth Championship. The youngster justified his presence in the Heartland squad by posting impressive outings with the team. After one of his brilliant performance, Osanga won the PEPSI Most Valuable Player. He was one of the most creative players as Heartland zoomed to the finals, but lost to T.P. Mazembe. Interestingly, he played against Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel and this offered the Tunisians a good opportunity to watch him from close range. Heartland battered the Tunisians 3-0 at home and secured a draw on the road. Like his former teammate, Agba, Osanga was also linked to several clubs in and outside Africa. In November 2009, he was linked with a move to Tunisian top club, Etoile Sportive du Sahel, which has a strong association with players from the Nigerian League. The likes of Ogechukwu Obiakor, Emeka Opara, Muri Ogunbiyi and Eric Frimpong are some of the players who have moved to Etoile from Nigeria. On March 4, 2010, he got a dream move the Sousse based side. 5. Alex Nkume: Enugu Rangers to VVV Venlo Alex Nkume is another product of the Enugu Rangers Football School. Interestingly, Nkume joined Venlo in December 2009 with his Rangers teammate, Micheal Uchebo. Like Uchebo, he was with the Nigerian U-20 team at the Rwanda 2009 Africa Youth Championship, but missed the WYC in Egypt. Nkume has wormed his way into the first team of Venlo. 6. Stanley Okoro: Heartland to Almeria (Spain) ‘Little Messi’ as Okoro was called in Nigeria moved to Spanish side, Almeria, this year. His five-star performance during the FIFA U-17 World Cup hosted by Nigeria last year earned him recognition globally. Besides, he was also a member of Heartland’s 2009 ACF Champions League squad. Although, he is with Almeria’s youth side, the Nigerian is tipped to become one of Nigeria’s next stars in the near future. 7. Anthony Ujah: Warri Wolves to Lillestrom (Norway) Ujah is a forward who began his career at FC Abuja. From FC Abuja, he moved to Warri Wolves, in 2009 and left in January 2010 to sign for Lillestrøm, a club in Norway’s elite class. Ujah made his debut on March 14, 2010 against Aalesunds FK 8. Aziz Ansah: Heartland to FC Dallas (U.S.A.) Aziz Ansah is an experienced Ghanaian International who has played in several leagues. He gambled with a move to Heartland and it paid off as the Nigerian side reached the finals thus attracting attention from the Black Stars crew. He was on the verge of making Ghana’s squad for the Angola 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. He moved to F.C. Dallas in America’s Major League Soccer (M.L.S.) during the 2010 transfer window, but after one month the contract was cancelled. 9. Eric Frimpong: Enyimba to Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia) Eric Asamoah Frimpong is a former Niger Tornadoes attacking midfielder cum forward who now plays for Tunisian side, Etoile du Sahel. Eric, who is a younger brother of former Enyimba star and Ghanaian International, Joetex Frimpong, lives with his parents in Nigeria’s Northern city of Minna. Like his elder brother, he started football in Minna and secured attention from Premier League side, Niger Tornadoes. Before joining Niger Tornadoes, his elder brother, Joetex told Enyimba officials about him, but he refused to join the Aba Elephants because the team was star-studded. He had a stint at amateur side, Bida Lions, in neighbouring Bida and finally signed a professional career with Tornadoes, a team that remains very close to his family. In November 2009, he left Enyimba Aba for Etoile du Sahel and scored on his debut in the Tunis derby against rivals, Club Africain. 10. John Owoeri: Heartland to Columbus Crew (U.S.A.) Heartland’s John Owoeri is on the verge of making a second journey abroad in search of the Golden Fleece. He is presently at Major League Soccer (M.L.S.) side, Columbus Crew undergoing trials. If successful, the Nigerian would join former league star, Emmanuel Ekpo. Owoeri, who has played for NPA, Bendel Insurance and Enyimba got his first deal abroad shortly after the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in the Netherlands where he was snapped by Rotterdam giants, Feyenoord after excelling for Nigeria. However, he was unable to make the best out of it and was sent on loan to modest Belgian side, Westerloo. The story was not different at Westerloo and Owoeri had to return home to start all over again. Aba Elephants, Enyimba, were happy to grab him on his return home. Interestingly, the youngster didn’t disappoint and when Heartland got a ticket to the CAF Champions League, he was unable to resist the offer from the Owerri based club. Statistics in the NPL: The way forward Statistics remain the most important content of every league. That’s one of the reasons why football is called the ‘beautiful game.’ Interestingly, the most important aspect is goalscoring. However, statistics on goalscoring has remained a serious problem in the Nigerian system. With the advent of the Premier League in Nigeria, it was supposed to be a thing of the past, but recent development has indicated that the problem is yet to be solved. 2009/10 Season: NPL, Ahmed Musa, Kano Pillars, Media The 2009/2010 season kicked off in grand style last year with lots of expectations. Every season throws up a new revelation and Kano Pillars forward, Ahmed Musa has become Nigeria’s most important league player courtesy of his ability to put the ball behind the goalkeepers. His five-star outing has earned him a place in the Super Eagles and the youngster didn’t disappoint. However, Musa and the NPL are presently engulfed in a controversy concerning the number of goals credited to him this term. While the media records 15 goals, the NPL has come out to say otherwise. One of Nigeria’s authoritative sites on the league, www.naijaligue..com recently cornered the NPL Executive Secretary, Alhassan Yakmut, on this subject. Yakmut, who is currently acting as a sole administrator of the Premier League in the absence of a board said: “I think you people (in the media) are misleading the public on the number of goals that Ahmad Musa of Kano Pillars has scored this season. The record we have here as the organizers of the league is that he has scored 14 goals this season. “I believe that we cannot be wrong because every information or statistics on the Premier League gets to us before anybody. So, we have the record here and if you want it we will make it available to prove that he scored 14 goals.” Ahmed Musa Reacting, the Nigerian International said: “I don’t think it is a big matter because I know I scored 15 goals. The records are there at the club and I can tell them to make it available.” Shehu Adamu, Former Kano Pillars Media Officer Former spokesman of Kano Pillars, Shehu Adamu, has disputed the claims of the NPL. “There shouldn’t be any dispute about it because the boy has scored 15 goals this season,” Adamu stated. 2008/9 Season: Akarandut Orok Ironically, this is not the first time that the NPL is disputing the number of goals scored by highest goal scorers in the top-flight. Last season, former Akwa United man, Akarandut Orok, faced similar situation before the air was cleared when the player and his club produced evidence to back up his claim to have scored 17 goals. The NPL eventually credited the player with 17 goals. 2002 Season: Joetex Frimpong Back in 2002, it was the same situation when Joetex Frimpong, then with El-Kanemi Warriors scored 17 goals, but was credited with 16 goals. Although, he was eventually credited with 16 goals, the player maintained that he scored 17 goals. Interestingly, the media equally credited Frimpong with 17 goals. NPL Website: www.nigeriapremierleague.com All over the world, the website of the league organizers is supposed to be the reference point, but the reverse is the case with the NPL. Since the league kicked off last year, the website has been unable to provide any information concerning statistics on the league. The website contains no live reports during matches. Even after matches have been played, there is no record of goals scorers. The Media Since the NPL has no records to be verified, the media has creatively found a way around this problem. This explains why the media is crediting 15 goals to Musa, while the NPL is not. The Way Forward The only way to prevent this from happening in the future is to ensure that the website is functional. A website without basic information is no website after all. In England, www.premierleague.com is the official website of the league and contains every information needed. Moving over to France, there is www.ligue1.com, which is the official website and provides the necessary information. In South Africa, there is www.psl.co.za. There are other examples across the world. These websites have all the information required so there is no way a player would fault the league body on matters like goal scored that the NPL claims to have necessary statistics. To ensure that players don’t fault the system, the NPL must be seen to have done everything right. Brand Building As long as the NPL doesn’t take simple brand building strategies into consideration, the clubs would continue to wallow in darkness. If the clubs must make progress, the NPL has a fundamental role to play. http://naijapremierleague.com/2010/04/28/statistics-in-the-npl-the-way-forward/ |
ogazi007:To you, they were sloppy, to me, they weren't. let bygones be bygone, after the end of the season, we'd see what pep and laporta are going to do about the team dept. |
chic2pimp: thank you, people still know our worth in the whole wide world, now answer me, when last did you win a LEAGUE match? ![]() |
kcjazz:Stop jumping the gun bro, which tactical intelligence is largerback known for? can you tell me his records? well, i don't want us to dwell on these, just as i said, he's still same of the same until he proves why he's worth being paid #30million per month. so let's wait and see. |
Interesting, oya make una dey plan una trip back home. |
@khanye, krayola and scantee, make una bone this kinda talk with these ppl jare, those who know football won't have said what most of these ppl have said. |
Same of the same, waiting to see why he worths #30m |
Well i don't think they were successful. |
henryphyol:Yes, i think the league price should be increased to at least 20million naira and hgs should get 2million naira. |
ogazi007:These boys did their best, Yaya did not disgrace himself nor anyone, Busquet was expecting to go offensive while Yaya defended as a 4, he did that perfectly, he didn't do anything disgraceful last night, tell me, what did busquet do last night? did you even see his impact in the game apart from the red card issue? We should not put blames on the wrong players, Kaita played as a 3, yet he still came to the front to cause some havoc, though the whole match yesterday didn't go well, but what do you expect with that kinda formation Jose played? well, all i need to see is ibra loaned off, get 2 ST replacements, sell Henry (no longer barca's material), ibra is just a big time short 1 and i have never liked him since he came to Barca. |
Waiting to see the next man/woman to take charge. |
