Even though I was born a Christian, I won't claim to be one. I've been doing a whole lot of studies on Christianity and I still can't understand the concept of it.
These are my reasons so far.



1) God creating the world in 6 days : it still doesn't make sense to me. It feels just like pure magic. It feels just like the fairy tales we watched when we were kids. I don't agree to the myth of Genesis.



2) Why God chose to partial: in as much as the Christians would argue, it is clearly evident by the Bible that God was indeed partial and actually not a just God. He chose the people of Israel amongst all. the tribe of the earth. If he is indeed the only true God and other gods being the works of men like the Christians would sing and say, how then we're the people of other religions and nations surviving being that the supposed "true God" abandoned them and cast them away from him? This surely doesn't make sense to me.



3) The wars, the genocide, and attack perpetrated by the people of Israel: It is common Knowledge that there were many wars in the Bible. Christians would say that in that time of age, there was a battle of supremacy, ok good. But then the story of Jericho is something I find really sad. The people. of Jericho was such peaceful people, they even had to build a wall over their city so nobody disturbs them. But then the city was destroyed by the children of the loving true God. what was their offense?



4)The many hoax stories: From Rod turning to snakes, to Jonah surviving in the belly of a fish, to a talking donkey, to water turning to wine, to Walking on water, to Noah's ark amongst others.



5) Elisha and the 42 children : So some little kids called Elisha bald head and the perfect response was invoking bear to eat up the children. The sad part is that some people still justify this story. how inhumane was Elisha. Just imagine, your child of 4year called TB Joshua a man with long beards and then he sends a lion to eat the child up. would u justify that? Think brother, think.



6) A woman conceiving without sexual intercourse : We all know that's not possible.



7) Paul and the church belittling women to the roles of Just listening and not saying anything: What's the difference between what buhari did and what Paul and the early church did?



The Concept of the Trinity : God the father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit. Does this mean this 3 different entities is one. In other words since Jesus died on the cross, hence God the father was the one that died too. Well, this Trinity story doesn't make sense either



9) Hellfire: So u mean to tell me our fore fathers who never heard of Jesus, are all in Hellfire? So u mean to tell me just because I had consensual sex with my gf, I am going to hell fire? So u mean all Muslims and other religions of the earth are going to hell fire too? So u mean to tell me after leaving a good life here on earth, helping the needy, not hurting anybody, because I chose not to buy the idea of Jesus, I'm going to hell? lol. Incredible.


10) And most importantly: I am a Nigerian, I'm an African. what concerns the God of The Israelites and the Gods with someone in the streets of Benin Nigeria. Those Benin and Israel share the same boundary? What happened to our local Gods, what
happened to obatala, what happened to ogun, what happened to olukun, why should I believe in a God that is unjust and chose to love just the people of Israel?


I know the Christians would tell me to seek the Holy Spirit which to me is still an illusion. Well I'm open to him. I want him to appear to me like a man and then we do a question and answer section.

Yes there are many things you don't understand in the bible so you exit from christianity. There are also many things u dont understand about life so you can also exit from this life.

The issues you raised here have been treated in other threads. Dont be lazy, search for those threads and get yourself informed. We can't be going round endlessly abeg.

I'm not afraid of feathers, bones, cotton bands of any color, or palm fronds. I don't see why stringing them together would make them more scary. I would use a stick to push it aside, and walk into the house, smiling and shaking my head about how stupid the person who placed the silly contraption on my doorstep must think I am. Later, I would pour some fuel over it nonchalantly and burn it. I'd avoid inhaling the fumes.

1. Christianity is liberal. its not about denomination but about Christ.
Jesus said - except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. He didnt say- except a man belong to a particular denomination.

2. there was a time the disciples of Jesus saw a man who was preaching in the name of Jesus and they tried to stop him because he wasnt in their group. when they told Jesus about the man and what they did to him, Jesus rebuked them and said they shouldnt do that. He made it clear to them that he that is not against us is for us. Again you can see that the aim of Jesus about Christianity is not for us to be cage under one denomination.

3. The early churches in the book of Acts of the apostles did not operate under any corporate name as we have it now rather they were identified by their location. For example- The church in Ephesus, the church in Corinth etc. denomination with corporate name wasnt the main thing.

4. The book of Revelation says that those whose names are not written in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire. It didnt say those who are not members of a denomination.

5. Yes over 32,000 denomination preaching about Christ not against Christ. Over 32,000 denomination preaching about the kingdom of God not against it. Zacheus got born again in his house not in a church. Christianity is not about religious dogma, it is about your personal relationship with God. Thats why some people say its not a religion but i dont even care whether its religion or not. The emphasis is on personal relationship with God.

6. yes there may be fake ones among them but by their fruits we shall no them. In almost every facet of life there is fake and original so nothing strange about it.

Christianity is not against development. Jesus made it clear that we should give to Ceasar what belongs to him and to God what belongs to him.

Christianity is against stealing so those who stole our money are not doing it under any religious influence. I agree with you that every religion has its negative side. In Christianity Jesus preached about love for one another, he preached forgiveness, he preached about giving and about helping someone in need. He used the good Samaritan story to illustrate it. He preached about turning the other cheek rather than revenge. He preached about paying back our dept. He said we should pray for our enemies and bless them that persecute us etc. There is nothing wrong about these teachings rather the people who have failed to keep to these teachings are the problem.
If in a family one person is an armed robber we cant brand the whole family armed robbers. We cant lay blame on Christianity because of some people who have failed to follow its teachings.

Religion surely has its negative side and atheism has its negative side so you cannot just put the whole blame on religion.
Yes atheists dont pay tithe and offerings but are you now saying that all of them are helping the poor man on the street? And are you saying that no christian helps the poor? You people like to see atheism as one big perfect achievement. It is not pls. Atheism is just unbelief in god, nothing fantastic about it, stop deceiving yourself. How many atheists help the poor since they are not paying tithe and offering? A good number of christians do pay their tithe and offering and still help the poor.Do you know how many people i ve paid their school fees? Do you know how many people i ve helped to get a job. Do you know how many people i ve helped in business? Do you know how many people that i ve put food on their table? Yet i pay my tithe and offering. I have fellow christian friends that are doing far more than i am doing. There are also many more christians that i dont know who do much more than me so what are you talking about biko?
A good number of churches run welfare program that visit prisons, hospitals, motherless babies homes and give gifts to them on weekly or monthly basis. You people should stop your one sided accusation of religion. I believe some muslims too are helping the poor.
Diversity is part of humanity. We cant all be doing same thing or thinking the same way. Because we have brain that is given to us to think you will continue to see diversity everywhere.

I ve asked atheists to outline what i will gain if i should become an atheist and none of them have been able to present any tangible thing except the usual useless lines they give.
Atheism is simply- unbelief in God and nothing more. It doesnt mean intelligence, nor wealth. It does not also translate into achievement in life.
A miserable atheist who has little or nothing to show as achievement in life will come here and be posing superiority just because he does not believe in God. SMH for them. Pls dont bow down to their stupidity.
While you can pray for their salvation and even discuss with them when the need arises that doesnt mean they are one set of superior beings.

I already have freedom in Christ. Again if i pay tithe and offering is it your money i 'm using to pay it? If it is for this two lame reasons that i should leave Christ and join atheism then I will not do that. In no particular order, here are common signs you can use in detecting if your religion is the true one and also help you identify the true religion if you happen to come across it.

Please note that the true religion will not have any of these traits.

1) Your "holy" book has lots of contradictions: Let us assume for instance that you are about to purchase a maths textbook for your kid, or for yourself, and on the first page you see "1+1=11", wouldn't this be enough to make you feel skeptical? Now, let us further imagine that you turn to the next page and the next and the next and keep seeing contradictions, would you still buy the book and even, in obvious stupidity, go around telling people that 1+1=11?

If your "holy" book has these contradictions, it would be wise to throw it in the trash can. This is an obvious sign that your religion is false.

In order find out if your "holy" book fits into this category, it would be advisable that you read it on your own. Do not rely on heresay, your pastor, imam, holy junkie to read and interpret it on your behalf. Pick it up and read it for yourself

2) You find a hard time explaining your religion to other people: Whenever someone else asks you "why" about your religious teachings you seem to find it difficult explaining it to them. No matter how hard and long you try to explain, you always seem to end up at a dead end. Most times, your religious teachings just do not make enough sense when you try explaining it to someone else.

Honestly, if your religion was from the one true "God", it wouldn't be that difficult to explain, now would it?

Afterall, God is not one of confusion.

3) Your religion seems to be plagiarized from other older religions: This one is a hard one to notice especially if you do not have adequate knowledge of other religions. If your religion has similar stories from other older religions then your religion is obviously fake. Afterall, God doesn't copy and paste.

To verify this, you would have to read up on ancient religions and point out the similarities with yours. If there are any, your religion is false.

4) You are required to believe without evidence and only faith : So, you want to buy a house and the real estate manager tells you that the house is beautiful and gives you all the specs of the house but tells you that you cannot see the house but that all you have to do is believe the house is there and make payment for the house, will you pay?

Now, apply this analogy to your faith. If someone tells you to believe whatever it is they are talking about without any proof, my bro/sis, na bobo. Pure scam. Do not risk eternity for such vague and unverifiable promises

5) You have never seen your God: Your God seems to be invincible, no one has ever seen it, or you have to carve stones and sticks just to see it then your God is nothing but a project of someone else's imagination. As beautiful and magnificent as the sun is we all see it. If your god was so real we would see it. Trust me, god would have no reason to play hide and seek.

6) Your god's characteristics contradicts itself: Your god is omnipresent but was not there when the first sin took place to prevent it. Your god is omniscient but created the devil to deceive people knowing very well they will end up in hell eventually. Your god is all loving but threatens people to love it or face eternal torture, damnation and barbecue in hell. That is not unconditional love. To know the meaning of the word unconditional, check it yourself @ www.dictionary.com. It is free.

7) Your god needs to be worshiped: Even to the extent of threatening to burn you in hell if you don't. Seriously? God that created everything needs you, a human who happens to be infinitesimal in the grand scheme of the universe, just to feel funky? If your god is truly great, it wouldn't need to servitude and slavery. These are human cravings, not that of a supreme being.

Your god supports slavery, discrimination and genocide: Just look into your holy book. If there are pages where these things are supported then your god is actually a psychopath and if you eventually see it, take it to a psychiatric hospital

9) No one has ever seen the hell or heaven of your religion: This one is kinda tricky because every religion that has hell and heaven also have adherents who have "died" and seen these places. Christians have died and seen Jesus and Jehovah so have Muslims who have died and see Allah and their future 72 virgin wives , Buddhists too etc.

Even you can deduce that there is something fishy here. Did they really see heaven or hell or just projections of their imaginations or are they just plain old lying?

10) There is no where in your holy book where your god refers itself as the god of your people: God of the Ibos? God of the Yorubas? God of the hausas? God of Africans? Have you ever heard your god refer to itself as the god of your people?

I doubt that. It is either it is god of israel or god of arabs of god of indians etc.

If your god is like this then be certain it is not a true god because a true god will not be tribalistic or take sides. After all, it did create everyone, didn't it?

11) You do not know anyone personally that has been healed miraculously by your god: And neither have you. All the "testimonies" are always in church, mosque, radio, tv, blogs, websites but never to you or people around you. You know a crippled in your area but no pastor or imam has ever been able to heal that person just out of the goodness of their heart. Very suspicious I say

12) Your god always needs money: Your pastor says you need money to build a house for god(as if spirits need to live in houses ) or that it needs money before healing you or providing any of it's other services like granting you a job, giving you a wife/husband, kids etc. It sha needs tithes and offering EVERY TIME. I mean how hard can it be for god to make money? Didn't it create everything?

A side effect of this is that the pastors, imams and spiritual junkies who collect these tithes on behalf of your god always seem to wear the finest clothes, ride the best cars, send their kids to the best schools(which 80% of the congregation cannot afford) and enjoy all the canal things of earth while you wait for paradise in heaven. Nigu

I will stop here for now. But these tips should be enough to guide you and help you avoid following the wrong religion, finding the right one and not ending up in hell.
