Hello guys

I just want to ask, must there be wall tiles in the kitchen wall to wall?

I ask because recent samples of kitchens that I've seen and intend to copy don't really have wall tiles.

Again, what's the consequence of not tiling the kitchen walls wall to wall.

Thanks

The only area u might need wall tiles in your kitchen are both where you have your kitchen sink and your cooker to avoid backsplash of water or your ororo while cooking however other materials can suffice like using glossy/ silk or other cleanable paints, polished woods et all.

Hi guys,

Greetings,

I want to construct a livable Tiny Wooden house next month.

The property is ready... fenced and gated.

I'm constructing it myself with some help from my girlfriend as a way of gaining some wood working experience.

Can it be done with an estimate of N500k?

The pictures below are a sample, although without the glass doors.

Waiting on this.
All the best

Yes, the door looks nice and I have seen the prices you quoted for the polished version. The problem I have with these local wooden doors is with how they tend to become warped with time and a little heat.

How do you treat your own products to minimise the warping on the doors?

The wood used are oven baked to dry off all water or moist content it has before any work is done n seasoned thereafter.

Chairman! I’ve something interesting to share on PVC vs Aluminum windows.

I’ve not witnessed any fire outbreak to see how both will perform under fire BUT I’ve seen how they perform under impact and crush test.

As a matter of fact, the picture I intend to share will show you how different types of aluminum profiles from 6 demolished buildings look after they were subjected to harsh conditions vs how the PVC window installed on only 1 house in the estate performed.

It’d be shocking to hear that I can still use the PVC windows but we can hardly put together a complete window from all the 6 buildings where aluminum windows are installed.

I’ll upload pics when I have the opportunity to do so.

________
Considering the cost and quality of the PVC windows, I wasn’t expecting it to perform any less.

Definitely a great one over the aluminium. Im with u on this Sir.

Although, I live in an 80 year old house with PVC doors and windows all round. All the things you mention there are alien to me.

My Chief, thankfully you said 80 year old.
Don't forget I said my experience n I didn't generalize this.
* Has there being any fire incident in the house to make you confirm the fire part?
* Were u there during the installation to make you know if they amended on site to fit if the openings were not perfect for it?
* I bet we still have same quality of materials that was used in making those in your build at the moment.
Remember: all I mentioned were based on my experience in my kobo Kobo years of Kobo Kobo architecture, interior n construction Sir.

Please share the issues if you can. It was the in thing in the USA some years back.

* Once they cut to size at the factory, you can't adjust it again except you take it back there n they do that for you which means your openings must be perfect else you will have breakings to do. Ur installer can easily trim n adjust your aluminium on site unlike the PVC

* Due to the weight, if it's a build which will be airtight like you won't be opening the windows n doors steadily it will last more n might nt have issue but if you will be doing lot of opening steadily it will sag/drop with time

* Don't know about the improvement on the materials now in term of fire resistance, the old once I have seen used n replaced aids fire a little.
* Expensive as well

All this are based on my personal experience n might not be for all but most clients after buying houses with PVC windows n doors in Lekki do change them instantly to aluminium, I believe our aluminium guys can tell us more

I’m going to PVC windows pretty soon. The aluminum window market is too saturated.

PVC has its own issue.
I've being there n don't think I still want to go that lane. The companies ain't that much around this days too

That's the setup I'm considering but I don't think I have the space for the total length. If only bath tubs/jacuzzi came in less than six foot lengths.

Thanks.

I think there is for 1.7m or 1.75m or so. Our mechancal guys should confirm.

It's surprising that the good Samaritan that offered to take the doors in the first instance hasn't stepped forward to take up this second opportunity that presented itself.

That would put the issue to rest, irrespective of weather lessons were learnt or not.

Here is the floor plan. The confusion is fitting both a tub and shower in the space.

This will work well, I will just take off the solid wall used for the toilet enclosure, glaze it or better leave it open so far it's for a private room

Bro seriously, anybody not in this ur field or not conversant with them won't be able to understand ur point.
It took me a while to get ur point.
It's not ur fault neither was it madams fault. But find a way to settle this matter, you can involve a 3rd party on your behalf to calm @enyinne nerve.
If na me I no go dey happy at all. Even if she insults you, you don't have to insult her back, your only priority now should be to settle this matter and clear your name.
@enyinne abeg tamper justice with mercy mbok.

You not getting it, it's even wrong for an engineer to create an opening of 900mm when the door specification is also 900mm,
That is the principle that makes all engineers allow tolerance of an inch or more to allow for proper installation for either doors n Windows.
So it's wrong to even reduce the size of the door he is fabricating except he was told or he measured the as-built n the opening itself is 900mm already.
I will not accept the door as well but let's acknowledge that it has happened n only him can still make this go away ASAP by he said he won't let his self esteem or so down n that's where there is issue.
I will suggest to him to always prepare a drawing or detailed sketch for doors n some other things he does to avoid more occurence.
Lot of learning still has to be done when you are dealing with clients that knows what they want

Like u ought to add an inch or two to your windows or doors openings instead of reduction except confirmed on site otherwise.

Even for my Kobo Kobo interior works that I don't post here due to the drama with nairaland clients as I don't post even my architectural n construction here.
Michlin, u r good no doubt. But u need to be more detailed and u need more wisdom in client management n relationship.
Please I will say again, easy does it. The misfortune of one mostly leads to upgrade of another competitive n serious minded one as majority believes.
I cum in peace
