Solumtoya: I don't think it gets said enough: Getting Accomodation in UK for new arrivals is TOUGH! I stayed in Airbnb for 9 weeks and spent roughly £4k on Airbnb during that period on temporary studio apartments. And this was Naira to GBP. I was offering 6 months rent but Landlords no gree.
I don't think there's any simple solution or silver bullet. Just keep checking these sites: Rightmove, Openrent, Zoopla, Gumtree, Spareroom, etc. Then network with Nigerians and other friends cos you can get through connections in your specific area.
My two cents: other people can add. Damn ! 4000 pounds on Airbnb, that’s actually very much given that you still hold naira and converting to pounds… Omoh guy is really frustrated and sad.. Things Nigerian face abroad sha. Please if anyone is in Kent here and can help him to get an apartment, let me know. He is running out of cash already |

Hello everyone, a friend arrived Kent, UK some days ago and have been finding it hard to get an apartment. The landlord wouldn’t give him an apartment because he is a Nigerian and he has been spending so much on Airbnb and running out of cash. Please is there anyone in Kent here that can help him in getting an apartment or is there a way around it , and he has tried numerous website like Zoopla, RightMove and Open rent. |

Professorcplus: Can't imagine how their poor citizens are coping with people's experience establishing business.
Can someone share or talk about their male youth. Do they do internet fraud, music, or what creativity do they use to earn a living especially in a case there's no job for common locals. All ears is yours. @ nwadikeokay11 and others Funny enough They always survive , you would see a Rwandan guy that doesn’t have money drinking almost a crate of beer , only God knows how they get money without working, but sure they don’t do fraud , most of them doesn’t even use a good phone , but they just always have some cash on them to drink, they don’t joke with drinking beer here lol, and what I noticed is almost every family has a representative abroad esp Belgium and Germany so the said fellow they all sent abroad send them money home time to time … that’s just my thinking cuz the few Rwandan friends I have got family abroad . As a Rwandan they have easy access to first developed countries, the country isn’t cast or corrupt like Nigeria and they don’t like traveling out, the embassies are always dry lol |

makano: Hello Horlajp
This depends on you though, what exactly do you want? To study in Canada or to just visit Canada?
With your last statement, it shows you wanna Japa which is very relatable. But I will advise you calm down, I see desperation written all over your post, and I won't advise you show this by applying for a visiting visa when you have a study permit application still ongoing..
Both Visa applications are temporary applications , so why apply for 2 different temporary visa applications at the same time?
I will advise you exercise patience till when your study permit is concluded which may be approved before you shoot your shot for a visiting Visa application....
Peace Thanks a lot… just seeing this . |

olasubomy: That’s true. It can be boring and lonely when you are new and have not made friends yet. She can try these approaches, which helped me when I was new in Canada.
1. Let her try to liaise with her programme coordinator (the officer who engages them on course registration or the international student office) to please connect her to current Nigerian students in her department, like those in their final year or graduating. Once she gets attached to one, that helps a long way to put her through on all she needs to know, and with that, she can start expanding her network. Canadians here dont joke with mental health so i am sure they will try to support her.
2. She can also call this African store. I just googled, and I can see that they have an African store in Regina Saskatchewan called " Rosemond African Food & Market, 215 Victoria Ave E, Regina SK S4N0P4. Mobile No. 306-352-5252. Weblink: http://www.rosemondafricanstore.ca/. She can introduce herself being new and ask if there is WhatsApp group of Nigerians in Saskatchewan, I am sure there would be one and start building friends from there. Nigerians here are always willing to help especially those who have been here for some time and fully into the system.
3. Once classess start, she might be lucky to see a fellow Nigerian in her class and they form a clique.
She would blend with time dont worry. Thank you … I really appreciate your answers |

HorlarJP: Hello, as y’all know i got my GCMS notes which I showed here and thanks to everyone that contributed to my issue on how to reapply. I pray before January I will be getting PPR.
I am applying to university of Regina in Saskatchewan, a friend told me I have around 80% chance of getting the admission and they have refund policy if it went south, how’s the province or na state lol for international students… school and work especially !
And una no go vex for any questions I ask from now on abeg even if na stupid questions lol… if you see the moniker HorlarJP make una Dey answer your boy o, used an agent last year but this year man is doing it himself with Nairalanders help! Lastly will 15m in my sponsor account be enough for proof of funds after paying tuition fees because my previous refusal on my GCMS notes is that the VO is concerned of the company account (20m+) I used (maybe it he funds will not be available for me) While the sponsor personal savings is low (5million) then Please make una answer your boy o |
