Hi how do lunar eclipses, solar eclipses work on the Flat Earth model.

I'm trying to build a flat Earth model but I'm having issues with fixing solar and lunar eclipses.

Is the sun a ball of light or spot light? It's the moon giving it's own light? And why does it appear as crescent, half, quarter and full, then dissappears then starts all over again.

The sun and moon being roughly the same size in the sky is one reason I believe the earth is flat.
