You build rail in a sustainable route and you expect progress .?
The igbos travel alot, why not build lagos to onitsha rail way and watch it thrive.

Why would Nigeria ever do something like that? It makes too much sense so they will abandon it and build the one that goes from duara to Niger republic.

we need to start investing in turning ebonyi state into a world class agriculture hub. There is big money there it terms of agriculture. Anyone who starts a farm there and exports food will CASH out

Honestly, Ebonyi is literally an agricultural giant waiting to be tapped.

Imagine having large farms everywhere with Agro-processing facilities. We just need visionary leadership to accomplish that goal for Ebonyi.

were will you farm, or you will waste all your land, building usless houses for rats and cockroach. Be wise, scattering houses without land management will lead to Hunger

Ebonyi state alone can feed the whole south east with mechanized agriculture and even export to other parts of Nigeria.

Israel in the desert is able to grow surplus food and export to other countries.

Wow, Onitsha is projected to surpass both Kano and Ibadan by 2040 and be close to Lagos!

Now is time to improve on infrastructure!

Exactly, this should be a wake up call for the current Anambra state administration. They should plan for massive growth.

McKenzie is a globally respected consulting firm. Their projection is accurate after extensive research and analysis.

Lagos will not decline. In fact Lagos will get even better if other parts of Nigeria also develop. It's like saying Texas will decline if they open a port in Florida.

Any first class nation needs multiple world class cities spread around the country, with multiple sea ports, multiple airports, multiple EVERYTHING.

This idea that only ONE or two cities should have everything... its a dumb idea.

I totally agree with this take. There is enough meat to go around.

Because Lagos will decline like Ibadan if its infrastructural advantage is no longer there. But should the whole country be held down to satisfy the ego of one ethnicity? Time will tell

I think Lagos government will change tune and become more friendly towards igbos once more competition is in the system. They are only getting away with the things they are doing because they know that igbos currently don’t have much alternatives for importation.

Not even banana republics have one ports, another item we must have in the east is a stock exchange market or commodity exchange market, with that it is good night to Lagos. Our people will only go there to look at slave relics in badagry and to view museums in onikan

Obi established Onitsha stock exchange. It’s time we revive it. We can list local companies and projects on Onitsha stock exchange.

In the next 20 years based on the Google map above; Asaba, onitsha, ihiala, mgbidi, owerri, mbaise, Orlu, umuahia will likely grow and merge into one contiguous mega city with barely no demarcation except highly built up urban center and less built up semi urban areas

With what I have seen in the last 10 years alone, I have no doubt it will happen. For example I remember when okorocha build roads to empty bushy lands across the river. Today that land is New owerri.

According to Demographia, Onitsha has overtaken Lagos as the largest urban area by landmass after Peter Obi's interconnecting rural roads united numerous towns into a huge urban cornubation stretching from Onitsha to Ekulobia. With more opening of the hinterlands and massive return through the invest home mantra, plus Ronu madness in Lagos, it's very sure that Onitsha metro will overtake Lagos in population by 2040 according to Mackenzie

There is a current plan to build a brand new modern mega city close to 2nd Niger bridge. It was mentioned in one of the meeting with ANSIPPA. I think it will either be called the greater Onitsha city or ikenga city.

Great analysis .

Nigeria as a country has a lot of potentials. What is needed is just to spread development and infrastructures around the country.

Healthy competition amongst the port's will bring in more revenue and make export easier.

Key word is healthy competition but the problem is that a lot of Nigerians are against healthy competition and will support backward policies to spite those they deem a threat.

If we can move headlong and develop our river ports and inland Waterways, there will not be any advantage Abuja or Lagos will have over onitsha. Thanks bro for the detailed explanation, Ekekwe is highly celebral when it comes to information like this.

The high cost of doing business in Lagos, the potentiality of the city to become xenophobic will be the good driving force to explore other options

What we need:

Dualization of all major roads
Gas pipeline to industrial areas
Bus rapid system
Intracity rail
Functioning river port.

These key infrastructures will unlock so much wealth.

New research by McKenzie projects Onitsha as one of the mega cities in the Africa and the world
By 2040. This study was done by outside organization. Not by people in Nigeria, so no need for tribal bias.

If you study the map Onitsha population is projected to rival that of Lagos and far surpass Kano.

I am sorry to say this but I think soludo might be the last governor under APGA. It’s actually sad because regardless of its shortcomings APGA has been a reliable party for Anambra people.

Going forward there is serious talk all over social media that whoever the next Anambra governor will be must have investments in Anambra state.

This idea of having no investment in the state while running for governorship must end.

You cannot tell people to come and invest back home when you the governor have never invested a dime in the state.

I think only 3-4 projects is achievable here
1, awka new city
2, solution city
3, the one at oba, can’t remember the name again
4, maybe the pharmaceutical company at oboji

Thanks bro, you’re doing great 🙏

Knowing the Nigerian factors, it will be a miracle if 3-4 projects from this list happens.

I am certain about the wholesale drug market because is currently under construction.
