Pandemic fear as swine flu reaches UK

The world moved closer towards a swine flu pandemic tonight after the World Health Organisation raised the threat level posed by the disease and the first cases emerged in Britain.

The WHO raised its assessment one notch to an unprecedented level 4 outbreak, two below officially categorising an outbreak as a pandemic.

The move came a few hours after Britain confirmed two people being treated in a Scottish hospital were carrying the new strain of swine influenza virus that is spreading across the world from Mexico.

He said in the past political leaders had allowed the police to be filled with incompetent and in some cases criminal officers so they could be easily bought to protect their own criminal activities. Police have also been unable to stop vigilante squads from lynching suspects before they could investigate, he said.

In the West, the notion of intentionally spreading AIDS seemed absurd. But here in Africa, people who haven't already been white washed and Europeanized know it to be a fact. After all, the European Union is reported to have paid US$460 million in compensation.In fact, many Africans regard Western medicine in general with deep suspicion. The most notorious instance of this was a boycott of the polio vaccine in Nigeria in 2003 This refusal was responsible for re-infecting 20 countries where the disease had been already wiped out. Especially in the mainly Muslim north of the country,it was rumoured that the vaccine contained anti-fertility agents and was contaminated with HIV. The countryside and forests are full of medicinal grasses and herbs. Why, people reason, should we buy packaged pills if we can process them and consume them cheaply?
