the matron locked some of us out of the grils hostel one night  because we were with "boys" so we had to jump over the fence to get it. i ripped my fav skirt and another girl cut her leg. . . we were so pissed we decided to get revenge. so one dark night we dressed up in black and wore masks, waited for her by her house and beat d shit out of her. . . she had to be in hospital for about  2 wks. . . d best we had in d grils hostel because the key was left with d head girl, which waspointless because the hostel wasnt lockd for d entire time she was away

ur post did make sense and i see where u r comin from but i think u r introducing all kinds of issues. . . I suppose if parents abroad shdnt complain as they put themselves in that predicament!

i still insist tho that it isnt easy to chase ur kids around makin sure they r doin the right thing, hanging around the right people. . . u bro was able to do it becos u already hav a certain amount of discipline instilled in u. i watch my aunt everyday and i'm very sure she'll burst and artery any day now. . . her son is a good boy so far but he is atteh age where he will be looking to challenge authority. .  and sadly thsi environment makes it easy. she keeps saying if she has more that one kid, she'd def move back to nigeria cuz her heart cant take it.

wether we like it or not the environment plays a big role. . .

What I did with my boys is that, I took all my Cds and dvds from d sitting room.
At that time, I had only my leather settees, tv and sky receiver with the viewing card cellotaped.

You can put your things back when they are older.

U can't discipline dm 4 things like throwing cds on d floor. Remove the things!

can arise as a result of

~ getting married too young befor fully set in ur ways and ideas, and not continuing d growth with ur partner

~ not knwng each other that well, so having to deal with the fac that both parties want different things and to go in different directions

~ lack of comunication means u grow apart and begin to seek out differnt things

Love doesnt fade, but it can change. . . it can quckly turn into hate or can become more/less romantic, but true love always remains

i'm not a parent yet but i hav loads of kids around me. . .

my aunt started spanking her kids at about that age. . . nuthin too hard tho, just a tap on their bum when they do sumthin wrong. . . the she lets dem cool off for a while befor playin with them again. . . the trick is she says a firm NO, spanks them, takes whatever they r hold and says a firm NO again! eventually all she has to do is say is No and they knw they r being naughty again.

i knw may pple disagree with this method in today;s world but it has worked for our parents for ages. . .

on the sufface what you are saying looks true however look at the people involved to know it is not as easy as it looks on the surface. the law didnt say don't train or correct your child. have you noticed every time the law on parental right to smack a child goes to the parliament it fails. ask yourself why.

the other half of the society don't live like most of these spoilt kids. i have seen kids born here behave better than kids born back home. it is not the kids majority of the problems are with the parents. you train a child. children don't train themself and we should not allow Tv and society to train them either. most people here pursue money at the detrement of their kids and family. it is obscene

most kids born back there in naija have a major disadvantage of knowing and seeing things kids have no business knowing in the first place. it corupts their minds

truth is there is so much decadence in the society that it pretty hard to shield ur child frm all that. . . parents in nigeria pursure money too nah. . . my mum used to wrokd 8 - 12 hr days and we were left to our own devices some of d time, but we never even thot of attempting any of the things d kids here get up to

my aunt has a 12 yr old son and its driving her crazy the things he might be getting up to. . . she is constantly chasing after him tryin to figure out what he gets up to and even with all that he still manages to get into trouble now and again. . . truth is the society here is in filth and d filth is slowly seeping into the homes. its easier for a child to go astray here as everyone tends to mind their business. . . i hav been told off by women i didnt even knw for wearing a dress that was too short, a mother in d nigerin asociety wld stop to scold a young boy of 13 with cigarettes in his hand. . . it might be a little intrusivbe but it serves its purpose, for a child to go astray in d nigerian society, he needs to work extra hard

the thing is parents cant completely isolate the child from the environment esp in a country like the UK where the government is slowly taking away the rights of parents, how then do u instill discipline?

most of us raised in Nigeria can still rmbr some of d crzy shit our parents did to put d fear of God into us, most of those methods can put a person in jail in the UK. . . in my opionion that is why d uk has d highest cases of teen prgnancy and under aged drinking!

Most homes ive gone to, have pictures of wedding, first son, first daughter, the whole family

my mum wld hav a coronary and die if we ever put anything on her walls. . . we hav laods of portraits but they r all on mantles and shelves and side tables, the bigger ones r on d floor. . . even wall clocks r not allowed.

her decorator suggested a painting shd go up on one very bare wall like that, d woman started hyperventilating. . . she finally gave in and we hav couple of paintings up but that is it!

u knw its love when nothing makes sense but everything is perfect
