This post should not be on Cartalk .....
OP we should all practice our religion quietly and stop insulting peoples sensibilities. You didn't make sense when you talked about fire precautions and still talked about God saving you. They are almost mutually exclusive. I am a Christian mind you.

Oga Gazzuzz abi seun, kindly, please move it to religion.

Call your bank headquarters and tell them to verify you over the phone and then fix a new email. Record the call.

Naija bankers can be siphoning your money little by little till it's no more.
Also try to create a internet banking profile if you've not,so you can check your statement online and do transfers.

There is currently a bill about Nuclear Power generation,so who are the nuclear "Honourable" engineers in charge of that?

You're even twisting your words.and misconstruing yourself

Nuclear bill ko..an engineer will not even dare bring that bill, cos it's dead on arrival for a learned scientist. Our problem with electricity is mismanagement and you are here talking about nuclear energy.you crawl before walking cheesy

Trash!...The Nigerian constitution is the lawmaker's Bible.
As an hounourable member,an engineer can make/amend laws that has to do with health with or without the presence of an hounourable member who is a health practitioner,so far it is within the confines of the Nigerian Constitution

as far as I'm concerned, the economic policies of this govt. is on point, our chop n quench attitude over the years has not helped us,So let's save, invest n grow.Which is what dis admin is about.

You're just deliberately silly I think. Have you ever read parts of the constitution?

Who propounded the national health bill?engineers? What do they know about how healthcare should be run?

There are some issues anybody irrespective of educational background, can propounded .but some other bills can only be drawn by professionals.
Bills concerning the banking industry is best drawn by bankers, not lawyers
Bill concerning electricity regulation is best drawn by electricity workers and not pharmacists

The lawyers are needed to fine tune the bill on paper ,to confirm with how a law should be.

How many of our lawmakers are lawyers?
My friend this is a completely different matter here.
A lawyer cannot or should not make laws concerning health-care or engineering because he/she has insufficient insider knowledge.

That is why lawmakers are drawn from every pool. engineers, doctors, businessmen.
The lawmakers then have lawyers who draft their bill and fine tune them according the the ambits of law before presentation to the house.

This man is obviously incompetent in charge of budget

OP 99% of the pictures are of the NLNG areas and not the town itself.it's just a normal town setting

The ghetto part of town is even worse than bariga and parts of ajegunle.
And not all parts of the island get 247 light from the NLNG plant too.Only finima town gets 100% light

The most clean and beautiful parts are the NLNG areas where the expats and workers stay.

Health / Re: Doctor Removes Herdsman’s Kidney In Adamawa Thinking It's Tumour by hUmaneOne: 8:07pm On Sep 22, 2016
AreaFada2:

Well, not so fast. Many things are bastardised in 9ja. Not every doctor is a surgeon. It is a specialty requiring many years of postgraduate training. But jack of all trade stuff is common in 9ja.

An abnormally shaped or sized kidney can present very differently. Have you seen a kidney around 4 times its normal size due to kidney stone? They are now mostly anatomy museum pieces in the West. But with our poor health care system and poverty, I would not be surprised if such still exists in 9ja.

Now they said he thought it was a tumour. What if he thought it was a kidney tumour?

This is the problem with private practice in a porous system. There might be no senior colleagues to seek advice from in such a situation.

If any suspicion of kidney racketeering, the MoH and NMA should investigate of course.

You made alot of sense. Private practice can be terrible really. Only a urologist can perform such op.

I still doubt the guy is even a medical doctor because the position and surrounding structures can aid in identifying a kidney by even a final year medical student, no matter how large or irregularly placed

I hope investigations reveal the true situation..

Cheers

Politics / ICIJ New Leak Reveals Bahamas Offshore Secret:abba Abacha Included by hUmaneOne: 5:25pm On Sep 22, 2016
New revelations published today (Sept 21st 2016) by ICIJ, the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and news organizations from Europe, South America, Asia and Africa reveal fresh information about offshore companies in the Bahamas.

A cache of leaked documents provides names of politicians and others linked to more than 175,000 Bahamian companies registered between 1990 and 2016

The leaked Bahamian files reveal details of the offshore activities of prime ministers, ministers, princes and convicted felons.

Alongside detailed reporting, ICIJ is making details from the Bahamas corporate registry available to the public. This creates, for the first time, a free, online and publicly-searchable database of offshore companies set up in the island nation that has sometimes been called “The Switzerland of the West.”

Key findings;

. Millions of leaked files from two financial service providers, a private bank in Jersey and the Bahamas corporate registry reveal how tax havens around the world are used to hide riches.

.Government officials and their families and associates in China, Azerbaijan, Russia, Canada, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, Mongolia and other countries have embraced the use of covert companies and bank accounts.

.The mega-rich use complex offshore structures to own mansions, yachts, art masterpieces and other assets, gaining tax advantages and anonymity not available to average people.

.Many of the world’s top’s banks – including UBS, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank – have aggressively worked to provide their customers with secrecy-cloaked companies in the British Virgin Islands and other offshore hideaways.

. A well-paid industry of accountants, middlemen and other operatives has helped offshore patrons shroud their identities and business interests, providing shelter in many cases to money laundering or other misconduct.

.Ponzi schemers and other large-scale fraudsters routinely use offshore havens to pull off their shell games and move their ill-gotten gains.

Hormonal imbalances. Also, many women (especially first timers) love the extra attention they receive from their husbands, so they step up their weird demands and behaviours to keep getting the attention.

Before the ladies start getting angry with me, I think that it is obvious that those women who do not want to attract attention to their pregnancies, eg unmarried teenagers and those with half a dozen previous children, do manage to control any weird urges that they may feel, very successfully, proving that it IS controllable (that is if the urges are real and not just one big scam by wily women, to fleece their over-loving, gullible, ignorant menfolk into buying them suya and off season Ogbomoso mango at 2am on Sunday night).

Thank you..if there's nobody to fuel their craving, they'll not crave..
Ladies just love the pampering and attention.

The hormonal changes doesn't account for the babyish attitude. It's simply psychological..
When a lady hears about pregnancy craving, she automatically plans to crave when her own pregnancy starts because it seems cool to act.

The other day,I was on Labour ward night duty after working for 24hrs straight and weary.
One woman was asking me to help her buy suya. I asked if I looked like her husband.with the shout i gave her,she was quiet till she entered labour.I never shout at my patients

SO Tourniquets (conventional) are for veins not arterial injuries.. Hmm..

And so the best bet is to chuck that kid into a vehicle and race to a hospital. Are those arterial clamps common and is it a procedure that any Doctor (GP) can perform?

For a non medic, yes. Tourniquet are best for veins.veins are close to the surface and arteries are buried deep inside the muscle most time.

If a non medical personnel apply enough pressure with a tourniquet to close an artery.he/she will cause more damage to underlying structures, muscles and nerve.

The best bet will be to whisk the child to the hospital with a drip given on the way. If you like tie heaven and earth, it won't stop the bleed .

Artery clamping is a mini surgical procedure where you cut the muscle open and "peg" the artery (the clamp is called an artery forceps)..then repair the bleed. Any good ,experienced GP is capable

O really!

Thanks for the info.. I never knew that about arteries..
Welcome sir..
please to add, doctors can insert arterial tourniquets also.this is not the conventional tourniquet tho.sometimes the muscle will be cut and the artery is tied with the tourniquet.

And because others commit blunders so we too should wallow in it and not make efforts to always improve in all that we do?

... And we wonder why the country is a 5th world country.

Please o, what is wrong with the soundtrack? And how does it effect quality of service which is in question?
Education / Re: Student's Leg Crushed In Lagos On His Way To School (Graphic Photos) by hUmaneOne: 10:10am On Sep 21, 2016

Points well noted.. However, A Tourniquet is the best first aid that can be applied at this time. High up the tigh and tied very very tight. Hopefully the open end of the artery has not receded beyond that point. Then rush the kid to the hospital as quickly as possible.

And like I said, the injury in and of itself (flesh wound) is not fatal, but the blood loss from the cut is what will kill him if something isnt done to stem it..

In his state as is in the picture, 20mins would be very optimistic. I see him entering into shock in under 5 minutes and bleeding out by 10.

Good..we on same page tho

An artery is not collapsible.it is like a rigid pipe.only artery clamps will do.
Only a vein is collapsible hence you can use a tourniquet to apply pressure

There is little anybody can do for that boy except to fix an IV (drip) till a doctor arrives to clamp that artery.

Cheers
