Foundation Honors Buratai With Icon Of Hope Award



His Excellency, Amb. Lt.Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), former Chief of Army Staff has been honored with Icon of Hope award by a non-governmental organization, Ideal Women Support and Empowerment Foundation in Kaduna.



Buratai was singled out for his iconic nature,empathy, dogged, brave and fearless approach in containing banditry, terrorism and insurgency.





In her remarks, the National President of the prestigious organization, Mrs Palmata Abacha who spoke on behalf of the group, said the award is long over due and is in recognition of his iconic nature and further stated that the Ambassador is a man of strong personality who shows empathy and is always there for people any time his audience is sought after.








She showered praises on him and prayed for Gods blessings over him.





She was accompanied by the Secretary of the Organization Hajjia Gambo Jimeta and another Executive Abigail Maisamari.

The menace of insecurity beguiling the country could be nip in the bud if the recommendations by His Excellency, Amb. Lt.Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), former Chief of Army Staff are put in place at a lecture he delivered at the one day symposium on National security organised by AREWA House, Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna on Saturday, June 11th, 2022.



Themed, Politics and Insecurity in Nigeria: Way Forward, Buratai who is the guest speaker proffered kinetic and non-kinetic measures which are fundamental to totally eradicating insecurity in our society.




As the Guest Speaker at the prestigious Arewa Lectures which Buratai confirmed his position as a credible spokesperson on politics and security issues in Nigeria. This is not unconnected to his experience as a veteran in the army after over two decades of services and most recently his sojourn in politics recently at the APC primaries where his principal, Rotimi Amaechi came second.


In his objective report, he highlighted Nigeria's democracy since 1999 and the challenge of insecurity facing us as insurgency and terrorism, banditry and kidnapping, farmers and herdsmen clashes and agitation for succession.



Buratai reiterated his stance that National security is a collective responsibility and various state institutions have different roles in combating the menace of insecurity challenges in the country expecially the role of governments at all levels, the judiciary, the AFN,the Nigerian police and the intelligence organisation.

Thus, in charting the way forward, he stated that for a safe and secured Nigeria , focus should be geared more towards non-kinetic measures that would aim at addressing the underlying root causes of the insecurity rather than treating the symptoms.

Accordingly, some of the ways that could be adopted to contain the challenge of insecurity Include adoption of a comprehensive and integrated approach and sustaining the ongoing judicial reforms. Others include the reiteration of DICON, sustaining the ongoing reforms of the NP and procurement of modern platforms and systems for intelligence gathering".




Finally, Buratai buttressed the fact that adoptionof a comprehensive and integrated approach would entail MDAs and the entire society playing key roles in tackling the country's security challenges. According to him, it will entail the involvement of critical stakeholders from different sectors of the society, such as religious leaders, youths, teachers, women, civil society, traditional rulers, media, law enforcement as well as the security and intelligence agencies.



He noted that currently, most of the citizenry consider security challenges as the sole responsibility of the police and security forces. However, the possibility of the military or the police being ubiquitous is not possible. Thus, there is the need for the public to be constantly sensitised and enlightened on their roles as stakeholders in the security architecture of the country.



The lecture delivered by Buratai was part of the Arewa house lecture series, 2022, and some of the dignatires who were ably represented by His Excellency, Mallam Nasiru El Rufai, the executive governor of Kaduna stare, His Excellency Prof. Babagana Zulum, the executive governor of Borno state, His Eminence Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto and other notable Nigerians like Sheik Gumi.

The All Progressives Congress United States Chapter has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory and emergence as the APC presidential flag-bearer at the just concluded APC Presidential primary in Abuja.

APC USA called on all aspirants to unconditionally support Asiwaju Tinubu and the APC for a total rout of the corrupt Atiku Abubakar and his destroyer political party.







APC USA congratulated President Buhari, Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Northern governors and the Senator Adamu led NWC for a successful convention, and for ensuring a level plain field, equity and fair play.

He obtained over 1,271 votes to defeat his closest rivals, ex-minister Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.




While Amaechi polled 316 votes, Osinbajo scored 235 votes.




He contested against thirteen other aspirants – Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Mr Ahmed Rufai, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Mr Jack Rich, Governor Ben Ayade, Governor David Umahi, Senator Ahmed Yarima, Dr Ahmed Lawan, Osinbajo, Amaechi, Governor Yahaya Bello and Mr Ogbonnaya Onu.




Nine aspirants had earlier stepped down, eight of whom asked their supporters to vote for Tinubu, while one asked his supporters to vote for Osinbajo.




Those who stepped down before voting began are Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa, Robert Boroffice, Ken Nnamani, Ibikunle Amosun, Dimeji Bankole, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and Godswill Akpabio.




They asked their supporters to vote for Tinubu, just as the only female aspirant, Mrs Uju Ken-Ohanenye, followed suit.

2023: Amaechi Will Stop Oil Theft in Nigeria, Says Support Group


Amid the growing anxiety laced around the much anticipated presidential primary of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Fusion 774 is appealing to delegates to entrust their votes to presidential hopeful, Rotimi Amaechi. According to the national patron of Fusion 774, Dr. Abubakar Mohammed, Ameachi’s records over the years precede him, especially in the areas of combating oil bunkering and theft.


Dr. Abubakar while reflecting on the incessant cases of oil theft in the south-south region of Nigeria described it as an alarming and unfortunate incident that is bad for a mono-economy like Nigeria

Zenith Bank: Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe Expresses, Shock, Anger over fake story credited to her, releases certified True Copy (CTC) of her judgment




Zenith Bank: Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe Vows To Deal With Peddlers Of Fake Story Credited To Her

Interestingly, Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of the Ikeja Special Offences Court has expressed shock, anger and annoyance over a blatant false narratives against Zenith Bank credited to her by some fake, over-ambitious and junk online news platforms over the judgment she delivered recently.




Miffed by the widespread falsehood, the respectable Justice who delivered a case that involved foremost financial management in Nigeria, Zenith Bank, decided to release her original certified True Copy (CTC) of her judgment to back her claims; while saying all what the online media platforms said she delivered, were all fake and wondered how and where they got their own reports.




So, one wondered where these fake news platforms derived their stories from. The certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment is now in the open for anyone to see.




These online platforms had reported that the Justice accused Zenith Bank Plc of bribing both the judges and lawyers for 11 years to pervert justice, with several online media outlets alleging that Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe made the claim on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 while delivering judgment in a suit marked LD/ADR/186/2014 between Real Integrated and Hospitality Limited as claimant and Zenith Bank Plc and State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) as first and second defendants respectively.


One such publication quotes the judge as saying “My recommendation is that Zenith Bank is a fraud and people must be very careful in their dealings with the bank.”


Some of the other quotes read: “Zenith Bank bribed the lawyers in the matter.


“This they have done for 11 years. So many lawyers and judges have been bribed in this matter just perverting justice. What is more embarrassing, the current governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele was the one who came to navigate and begged for the deposit. He has not been able to do anything to Zenith Bank because he was the managing director of the bank at the time of this transaction.”


However, nowhere in the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment that was made available to credible news platforms showed that the Judge did not make such statements.


While the Judge did make a scathing criticism of the bank, Justice Fadipe did not accuse Zenith bank of bribing judges and lawyers for 11 years to fraudulently alter the course of justice, as claimed by the online mediums.


There was also no mention of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele in the CTC of the judgment.


The judge’s comments, as contained in the judgement, include: “The 1st defendant has been the beneficiary of the malevolent game of chess it plunged both claimant and the 2nd defendant into, holding the sum of N872,780,552.84 in its custody without paying interest thereon from 17th February 2011 until 2nd February 2016 when the Court ordered that the money be paid into an interest yielding account in the names of the claimant and the 2nd defendant pending determination of the suit, which order was curiously varied by the consent of all the parties on 20th September 2016 so that the money remained in the 1st defendant’s custody without interest.


“The act of the 1st defendant was unconscionable and detrimental to the goodwill of the claimant and its trade credit with its customers. It was a deliberate and malicious act against the interest of the claimant and the 1st defendant continues to enjoy the largesse in bad faith. Exhibits C4 and C5 clearly state that the funds to be transferred were to offset part of the claimant’s indebtedness for the importation of dictionaries, but the 1st defendant was impervious to this need. I therefore find and hold that the claimant is entitled to substantial damages against the 1st defendant for the injury caused to it.”


The judge made the comments while granting the claimants four reliefs.


The reliefs are that the 1st defendant (Zenith) was in breach of contract when on 7th October, 2011 it refused the claimant to draw from its account No. 1012465427 “despite the fact that the said account was in enough credit to cover the withdrawals sought to be made on the said date.”


The judge further restrained the bank “from disturbing or refusing the claimant from operating its account No. 1012465427 in the 1st defendant’s bank or from honouring the claimant’s transfer or payment obligations to third parties from the said account as long as same is in credit.”


It granted an “interest of 15% per annum on the sum of N872,780,552.84 from 7th October 2011 when the 1st defendant denied the claimant access to the funds in its account which was in credit at that date till judgment.


“Interest on the judgment sum at the rate of 10% per annum from judgment date till final liquidation thereof.


“Costs of this action in the sum of N2.5million.”

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) – brainchild of Industrialist, philanthropist and founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has formally handed 85 modern medical equipment to the paediatric department of the Gwarimpa General Hospital Abuja in complete fulfilment of the ASR Africa Health Systems Support grant awarded to the hospital in 2021.

The scope of the grant included a fully equipped neonatal unit, equipment for 3 operating rooms, hospital ward monitors and beds as well as an ambulance in fulfilment of the Grant awarded to the hospital by ASR Africa.
Speaking during the formal handover, Ubon Udoh, MD/CEO of ASR Africa said that the formal handover of these items was a significant development as Gwarimpa General Hospital represents one of the largest public hospitals in the Abuja Metropolis catering to a high number of underserved communities and individuals.

According to him, ASR Africa as well as the chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, are passionate about Women and Child Health development – hence the decision to support the overhaul of the neonatal unit and provide new, modern equipment to assist healthcare delivery at the hospital. Ubon also hoped that the hospital will put the newly purchased equipment to good use in tackling maternal and neonatal mortality rates within its catchment areas. Mr Udoh also announced that ASR Africa would adopt the neonatal ward going forward.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the hospital, Dr Mohammed Kawu, Acting Secretary, FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat, commended ASR Africa for the gesture. “What you have done here goes to show you are truly committed to social development. With the quality of medical equipment donated, this is presently the most modern and best equipped neonatal unit in the FCT.”
In a similar development, ASR Africa also donated a fully equipped point-of-care laboratory, an ambulance, and some other medical equipment to the recently opened Capital Health Surgical Centre in Abuja. The surgical centre, which was recently established by Dr Ikemba Iweala, is a specialist facility also offering general medical services to the Abuja populace.

Observers noted that this is not the first time that the ASR would be adopting a neo-natal hospital, a policy which is amied at bringing sucour to the less privileged in the society as one of its cardinal goals.

FG FINALLY CONFIRMS HADIZA BALA USMAN’S REMOVAL, AFFIRM MOHAMED BELLO-KOKO AS SUBSTANTIVE NPA MD

In a move believed to have put an end to the various underhand dealings at Nigeria Ports Authority, the Federal Government has confirmed the appointment of Mohammed Bello-Koko as the substantive head of the Authority and by that token, removed Hadiza Bala Mohammed who had been on suspension.

Recall that Bello Koko has been in acting capacity since May 2021 when Hadiza Bala Usman was suspended by the Federal Government.

In a statement issued today, the Federal Ministry of Transport confirmed the appointment of Bello-Koko as the substantive head of the Authority by President Buhari.



Hadiza Bala Usman, it was gathered was queried over issues relating to favouritism, underhand dealings and outright disregard of court order while she held sway as the Nigeria Ports Authority Managing Director.

According to the sources, she revoked the lease of LADOL and gave same to Dangote’s friend a serving Senator, disregarding a Presidential directive. This move angered the Presidency because Ladol had invested over 300million Dollars and for a Federal Government appointee to display such show of disdain was unheard of.

She also shut down the ports and terminals of the BUA Group for close to one year despite a court order to the contrary. Obviously, her intentions and moves favoured Dangote with a view to keeping BUA Group and other competitors out of business while granting mouthwatering concessions to Dangote Group to create a monopoly. This issue generated a lot of questions from industry watchers.

Apart from this, there were issues relating to the dredging of Calabar port which was believed to have been dare to the Government’s heart, more so that of Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi. Sources claimed she claimed the project was not viable whereas findings by specialists disagreed with this.

To cap it all, there were allegations that she was also indicted by the audit report set up to look at the accounts of the NPA.

When she was confronted with the issues, especially the audit report as well as the move to create monopoly by Dangote, granting him so much concessions thereby denying the country revenue, our source revealed, she had nothing tangible to say in her defence, hence the decision to boot her out.

BUA GROUP DENIES SUSPENSION OF SUGAR SALES AS DANGOTE JOINS FLOUR MILLS TO JERK UP COST OF SUGAR AGAIN

It is peak season for manufacturers of sugar again and those who want to maximize on sales have already put together measures to ensure that they make the best out of the situation to the detriment of consumers.

Reports indicate that Dangote Sugar has decided to suspend sales of sugar in sympathy with Flour Mills who have been forced to stop sales over compliant issues by the Government. The move by Dangote is believed to be aimed at jerking up price as it does annually.

This move has forced most stakeholders to write BUA foods to find out whether they would be joining in shutting down sales thereby jerking up the price of their products.

BUA has however come out to say that they are not going to suspend sale of sugar neither are they going to join anyone in blackmailing the Government to change its mind over breach in compliant issues.

Recall that the pre-fasting season is always the peak period for the sale of sugar as most manufacturers record between 30-40% of their annual sales around this period.

Last year, BUA refused to join the gang-up by Flour Mills and Dangote Group to raise the price of sugar prompting Dangote to write a personally signed petition against BUA Group alleging infringements which were found to be cooked up.

This year, again Dangote has decided to stop sales in sympathy with Flour Mills which is being punished by Government. The implication is that the price of the product will go up given the fact that this is the peak period for sales in the year. With Dangote suspending sales, if BUA were to do same, the price of sugar would go out of reach of the common man especially those who need to stock for fasting.

BUA has however come out to say that it has the capacity to meet 90% of the nation’s needs at this period and therefore will not be party to any stoppage of sales or hike in the price of sugar.

According to the release from BUA, products from its Lagos and Port Harcourt sugar refineries will take care of the nation’s needs and there is therefore no need for panic buying. They also warned that any of their distributors caught hoarding the product would be delisted

He identified poor healthcare, bad education system as the root of some of Nigeria’s problem and declared that all will be tackled one-by-one to restore the country but first, power has to be secured.








‘’To be able to do this, we need to have secured power. When I go to bed every night, when I tuck-in my kids and I look at millions of Nigerians that are in the street of Kano, Ibadan, everywhere, millions of people dying in the hospital because they could not afford quality health care, our children that are not going to have quality education and become a problem for the nation tomorrow, the insecurity in the country, those are things we conceptualize in a programmatic way and every problem that confronts us today are man-made and as such, are resolvable. When we are able to take it one by one, we will be able to talk more on how to attack all of this and we are still going to have a platform where all these things will be elaborated but one thing we need to know is the status quo has failed us and when the majority of the people are suffering, the security of the few isn’t secured. APC USA calls for more roles for Diaspora APC Chapters

The Chairman of APC-USA, Professor Adesegun Labinjo has called on the APC National Convention to give more roles to the APC Diaspora chapters in the party’s constitution. Reacting to
Notice of the Proposed Amendments to the Constitution of the APC given by the Buni-led Extraordinary National Caretaker Committee of APC to the National Convention of the Party, Professor Labinjo lamented that the proposed constitution provides no role whatsoever for the Diaspora Chapters. He said that it is not enough for the constitution to authorize and recognize Diaspora Chapters, but the Diaspora Chapters should be given specific roles or duties in the constitution so that the Diaspora members can be part of the development of the party and the country. Professor Labinjo said that the constitution gives and assigns specific duties or roles to the Polling Units, the Ward, the Local Government, the State and the National levels of the party without extending same to the Diaspora Chapters.

Professor Labinjo believes that a Diaspora Chapter like the USA Chapter and its members, should be able to vote and be voted for at the National Convention. He said that a member of APC-USA who wishes to run for any elective position should be able to do so based solely on his/her membership of APC-USA and does not have to necessarily register in his/her ward in Nigeria. Professor Labinjo also suggested that USA being the model of democracy, APC-USA should have a slot in the NEC of the party and in any zoning formula adopted by the party in distribution of party and government positions. Professor Labinjo said that there are abundant talents and experts amongst APC members in the Diaspora especially in the APC-USA that can significantly contribute to the development of the party and the country. He said that the party should give these Diaspora members the opportunity and the party platform to help the country.

General Buratai Advocates for Continuous Training as panacea for Excellence





The Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic, and former Chief of Army Staff, His Excellency Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (rtd), has advocated for continuous training among the Armed Forces of Nigeria as panacea for excellence in strategic leadership. The ambassador made the assertion today at the National Defence College Nigeria while presenting a lecture on Strategic Leadership to the participants of Course 30/2021 of the college.

Durning the lecture he enumerated qualities of a good strategic leader which includes emphasized the need for weight control policy to ensure that officers and soldiers are physically, medically and mentally fit to enable them to perform their jobs optimally.

General Buratai call for exposition of officers and soldiers to training courses both at home and abroad, inspiring a shared vision, to inculcated core values; ethics and standards to improve the performance of the Nigerian Army.

According to him, when you talked about Strategic leadership, so many things comes into mind especially as regards those could be referred Strategic leaders. A Strategic leader is the one that has experience, as stated by General Douglas McArthur.

The lecture which was specifically for the participants of National Defence College Nigeria Course 30/202, he call for the need to improved on innovation as it the key in order to achieve the vision and goals set to be achieved in every task, “You must develop the capacity of your officers and men. It would help if you were versatile and adaptive. Every leader aims to get the job done, through exemplary leadership” he said.

He also added that “We have made Nigeria Army a Modern Army, we have made Nigeria Army to be professional by introducing many Infrastructures like the Nigeria Army Warfare Research. My regrets is our not discovering our Initiative of MRAP and many war instruments but we thank God as it has been introduced”
In his response, the commandant, Rear. Admiral Bashir said that General Buratai has unique and practical leadership worthy of emulation. The commandant said that because of these qualities, as such General Buratai had been selected as one of the strategic leaders to be studied in the college.

"My Brother has no hand in my Marital issues" Prescious Iginla Clarifies As He Exposes Wife





"It's my prayer that you marry a woman who is a wife and not a knife", Says pastor Precious Iginla in an emotional laden voice as he opened up on the allegations raised by his wife Blessing Joseph in an interview she granted Chude Jideonwo.







Precious Iginla who is the shepherd in charge of prophetic Fire Embassy International Church Port Harcourt while admitting their marriage has hit the rock stated that His elder brother,  Prophet Joshua Iginla has nothing to do with the brouhaha, rather he was the one who has prevailed on him to sustain the marriage this long.





According to him, at no point did prophet Iginla objected to their marriage from inception as she claimed. 




"Despite her low academic qualifications, my family accepted her and my brother even included us as part of his ministry. Immediately we got married, she objected to my working with my brother in the ministry.  When the nagging was much and knowing my weakness that I hate trouble,  she  forced me to leave my brothers flourishing ministry just to please her. That was my biggest regret as things went awry for us. She made me turn my back on my family and even when my parents died, she didn't attend the burial ceremony of  my father and mother", Precious claimed. 




He also revealed that her cantankerous attitude and waywardness affected the ministry they started together. According to him, during ministry, she will go to the back of the Church and be eating groundnut, she beats up members physically and has caused us to close down the ministry thrice, thus turning herself to a nuisance in the ministry.




" Can you belive it that she will leave the house in the morning without stating where she was going , abandoned the kids with me to cater for them. She won't bath them nor care about their feeding and schooling.  I do that myself. I wake them up, bath, feed and took them to school myself. She will come back late in the night without remorse? I knew she was cheating on me but  endured all of these for the sake of religion"




Speaking further, Precious Iginla admitted that when he couldnt bear it again, he decided to reconcile with his family and like a prodigal child,  his Elder brother, Prophet Iginla accepted him back and gave him a duplex and a cash of N5 million to start all over.




" Can you imagine amidst all we did to my brother, he forgave us and accepted us back with love and kindness. Shortly after this, this troublesome woman started demanding for too much. Instead of investing the money my brother gave us, she squandered it on frivolous lifestyle. My brother got wind of this and called me to caution me on wasteful spending.  I then decided to sell the duplex and acquired five blocks of flats. We both agreed to this. We decided to live in one and rent out the other four flats to sustain the family,the ministry in Portharcourt and also to be financiallyindependent. Sadly, like a woman possessed, she changed her mind claiming she can't live in a flat again that we should sell it and relocate to Abuja and life a flamboyant life. My objection to her devilish requests was the beginning of my woes and her attack against my elder brother again"






According to Precious Iginla, she called his elder brother, Prophet Iginla in Abuja that if he fails to give her N3 million for her to leave home and relocate to Abuja, she will fabricate lies against him and tarnished his name. 




" I was privy to that call she made to my brother. My brother refused to yield to her cheap blackmails and she started a campaign of calumny against him. She started with a Facebook programme alleging I beat her just to target my family. Do you know at times I will run away from the house in my boxers to avoid her troubles? When that fails she  will come online again saying we have sorted it"





Finally,  on the issue of domestic violence, Pastor Precious denied that saying she fabricated that to get at his family. He claimed he was the victim of her domestic violence. According to him, several times she has torn his clothes to shreds, slapped him and Best him up.




" at a time she packed all my clothes and set them on fire. She told me nobody will believe me when she lied against me on the issue of domestic violence. I am the victim of thr domestic violence not her. She doesn't care about her obligation as a woman, a wife or a mother. I never denied her access to the kids. Flashback: Police Declares Joseph Odaro Wanted






Joseph Odaro is on the run as police declared him wanted. The young man was among the jailbirds who were set free by protesters during the Endsars saga that rocked the country in 2020.







Odaro was declared wanted by the Nigerian government. He was among those who were set freed by endsars protesters in October 19th, 2020 from the Benin correctional centres, Sapele Road in Edo State.







In a report on how he was arrested and jailed, the narrative was that, he got a job as a bus ticket salesman for a public transport company known as Akugbe ventures.










According to reports, he worked there in the company without a work contract or leave.







Part of his role was that he sold tickets to Quelle bus drivers (from 50 to 100 drivers per day) and on their return the drivers had to give him the money corresponding to the number of tickets sold.







In return, the company paid him at the end of each working day. Sadly, When returning from their journeys, some drivers did not want to pay him or did not return unsold tickets to him. There were often more or less violent arguments or conflicts, sometimes 4 or 5 times a week.







One day, in a fight, Mr. ODARO was hit with a bottle which left him with a big scar on his arm. Traumatized by this fight and this serious injury, Mr. ODERO, who felt in danger, took a firearm made in Nigeria, relatively small that he could slip into his pocket.









Sadly, a new fight occurred in 2017 when a driver did not want to pay him. Mr. ODARO tried to block his bus by standing in front of it, but the driver drove off. Mr. Odaro then called a colleague from the next stop and took another bus to get there as well.

ABDUL SAMAD RABIU’S ASR AFRICA BOOSTS OGUN HEALTH SYSTEM WITH 2.5BIL GRANT FOR ASR MOTHER AND CHILD HOSPITAL



The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) – brainchild of Industrialist, philanthropist and founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has awarded Ogun State Government a N2.5billion Naira ASR Africa Tertiary Healthcare Systems Support grant towards the construction of a Mother & Child Hospital at the state-owned Olabisi Onabanjo University. This N2.5billion grant, which was presented to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun at a ceremony in Abeokuta, was drawn from the $100million annual ASR Africa Fund for Social Development and Renewal.
Presenting the award letter for the “ASR Africa Mother & Child Hospital” to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ubon Udoh, Managing Director, ASR Africa Initiative said the grant was part of efforts by Abdul Samad Rabiu, the founder and Executive Chairman of BUA Group to give back to Nigeria and the Africa continent. Udoh added that the state-focused Tertiary Healthcare Systems Support Grant was awarded to Ogun State and 3 others in 2021 in recognition of their current efforts in delivering quality healthcare services and infrastructure within those states.
According to Udoh, “The grant is part of efforts of the Chairman of the BUA Group Abdul Samad Rabiu to give back to the African Continent and make a lasting impact in sustainable development as a means of uplifting and restoring the dignity and lives of Africans. “We believe that upon completion, the N2.5billion ASR Africa Maternal & Child Hospital will boost the tertiary healthcare delivery system, train adequate personnel, and drastically reduce maternal and child mortality rates in Ogun state.”, he added.
Reacting, Governor Dapo Abiodun thanked the ASR Africa Initiative and its founder Abdul Samad Rabiu for their continuous support to the people of Ogun State and noted that his government remains focused on improving the socio-economic well-being of citizens especially around healthcare delivery.
The Governor said the ASR Africa Mother and Child Hospital will provide additional opportunities for the people to access medical care in the state reaffirming his administration’s commitment to put in place appropriate policies towards providing efficient and effective healthcare for the people.

EFFICIENT ENERGY: BUA SIGNS ANOTHER 70MW GAS POWER PLANT CONTRACT WITH FINNISH COMPANY, WARTSILA OY FOR ITS CEMENT LINE


BUA has signed yet another agreement with Wartsila OY of Finland for the construction of a 70megawatts dual-fuel power plant for its BUA Cement Obu Line 3 project in Edo State, Southern Nigeria. This agreement was signed between both companies at a ceremony in Abuja presided over by the Deputy Minister for International Trade for Finland, Ms. Nina Vaskunlahti. This gas power plant will also be the third power plant to be commissioned by BUA from Wartsila as BUA Cement seeks to increase its total production capacity across all its locations to 17million metric tonnes by 2023.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA, who signed on behalf of the cement producer said that BUA was committed to utilizing cleaner, more efficient energy sources for its cement operations rather than relying on coal or heavy fuels. According to Rabiu, the 70MW gas-powered plant ordered by BUA for its Obu Line 3 cement plant will ensure that the company remains very efficient in its energy utilization in the cement production process.

How Buratai broke over 100-year-old Kuta’s jinx – Oba Makama reveals



A prominent traditional ruler in the Southwest, Olowu of Owu Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, has said with the construction of the abandoned bridge linking his community – Owu Kuta with the outside world, Ikoyi-Ede and Osogbo, former Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Tukur Buratai has broken the over 100-year-old jinx that negated development and prosperity of the town.

Oba Makama noted that the ex-chief of Army Staff helped to break the Jericho wall, adding that Kuta people will never forget his gesture in their lifetime, including the coming generations.





“We are eternally grateful to him and the Nigerian Army. If this was to be influenced by a political party, Kuta will continue to give unalloyed support to the party till eternity because the prosperity of the town is tied to that road”, he said





The monarch, who expressed gratitude to Buratai and the Nigerian Army, disclosed this last Friday during a media chat organised by the Southwest Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP), in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Narrating how military engineers constructed the abandoned bridge, the chairman council of Owu Oba lauded Gen. Buratai for his patriotism and rare commitment to humanity , stressing that he has never seen a Nigerian as detribalized as the former military chief.

In his words, “Gen. Buratai is a jinx breaker, that’s another genius, highly detrabalized, a reliable and dependable, patriotic citizen of this country. Gen. Buratai is a friend, and a reliable one for that matter.

“My community has an age long agitation, just one single thing. During the old western region , before the colonial era, because we still have some records that are dated back to hundred and something years. Our people have been agitating that there should be a road between Kuta and Ede but there is a barrier – the Osun river, which made that impossible.

” This bridge was started by previous governments, I can remember former President Olusegun Obasanjo being the Balogun of Owu, while in power flew to the town twice and included the bridge in the federal budget, but it got no cash backing.



Also, former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, my good friend, had the bridge in the state’s budget for 8years, the bridge alone is about over N3 billion, but there was no money to construct the bridge.



But, one day, I was dinning with the ex-Chief of Army Staff, and he asked what do I want him to do for me. I told him, I don’t want anything from him. I told him there is only one thing I want him to do for me, and I mentioned the bridge. Eventually, God raised the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai for me.

“That same day he (Buratai) gave approval to construct in case if he leaves office that day and that was the day God smiled on that community that was founded in 1427. Buratai is the angel that God used”, the traditional ruler further narrated.

Oba Makama continued, ” I was away, when my subjects called, that soldiers are everywhere , and that they have gone to the river. When I inquired, I was informed that Gen. Buratai has asked that they should get him estimate of the bridge. No sooner, that we saw heavy equipment been moved to the river. And today, the military engineers have constructed the bridge which has been lying for over 100 years.

“Nobody contributed a dime, no contract was given, it was done by military engineers. We asked for one bridge, they did two . On the day of commissioning, Gen. Buratai led the Army council to Kuta. He constructed the bridge free of charge, Kuta people will never forget this.

“So, I think my relationship with the military is ordained, it has better off my community, and my relationship with the military will continue, irrespective of any hiccup”, the custodian of culture submitted.

As a result, he, however, said today, all residents of Owu Kuta are seeing the former military chief, Buratai as their god , for breaking a jix of over 100 years .

The monarch, also canvassed increased allocation of funds to the military to further assist in ongoing fight against insurgents in different parts of the country.

NEMBE SPILL: AITEO Mobilizes To Clean Up SBAR SPILL, Collaborates With Renowned ‘BOOTS & COOTS, CNA
• CEO, Benny Peters Assures Affected Communities of Speed, Ecosystem Protection.

Two weeks after a non-producing wellhead in the NembeLocal Government Area of Bayelsa State leaked and is still spewing its contents, the operators of the NNPC/Aiteo Joint Venture of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 29, Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Co. (AEEPCo), have announced several proactive measures to combat and contain the spill.

The wellhead, located in the Santa Barbara Southwest field in Nembe LGA, was, according to AITEO, predominantly dormant. The leak started on November 5. According to Ndiana Mathew, spokesperson for AITEO, said that upon noticing the leak, “Aiteo notified all relevant regulatory agencies and, thereafter, mobilised containment resources to limit the impact on the environment. As required, Aiteo promptly called for a Joint Inspection Visit (JIV). Due to the high-pressure effusion, the JIV team could not reach the location and that inspection was aborted.”

“Since then, Aiteo has activated an elaborate and extensive spillage containment response in the internationally prescribed manner. Though spills of this nature are not uncommon to the oil and gas industry, their resolution requires expert skill and equipment that is not routinely or readily available. The typical process is to first kill the well and stop the leak and then focus on the clean-up.”

Mathew said further that aside from the urgent possible technical responses to contain the leak, Aiteo has sought, become involved with and is now in active collaboration with Clean Nigeria Associates (CNA) which has since mobilised to site in addition to Aiteo internal resources to reinforce containment and recovery efforts. CNA is the oil and gas industry non-profit umbrella body with expertise and resources to contain spills of this nature. Because it was causing growing anxiety among the local communities that rely on the surrounding land and waterways, the area has been cordoned off and the CNA is mobilising additional resources to strengthen the containment effort.

It was gathered that a well-killing assessment site visit has been carried out to evaluate the assets and earmark the resources required to bring the effusion under control. The required apparatus including heavy-duty and specialist equipment are presently being mobilized, locally and internationally, on a fast-track basis, to bring the well under control. For this purpose, “Aiteo has on-boarded the involvement of the renowned Boots & Coots, arguably the leading well control company in the world, working with a local resource. Upon this intervention and conclusion, it is expected that the persistence of the leak alongside its functional consequences will be abated and significantly diminished,” Mathew stated.

Also, senior personnel of AITEO have visited the affected communities and made available, for the use of the communities, relief materials aimed at ameliorating the direct consequences of the incident. At Opu-Nembe Kingdom where the Aiteo delegation was received by the traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Dr Biobelemoye Josiah Ogbodo VIII, his council of chiefs and foremost indigenes and government officials, the King said, “We are happy that Aiteo has initiated this visit to support the community at this time and urge it to continue to work with us as partners in progress on its corporate goals in the community.”

Similarly, the Aiteo Group CEO, Mr Benedict Peters, has extended his assurances to the affected communities affirming, “We are doing everything in our power to contain this spill and ameliorate the situation as rapidly, safely and responsibly as possible. We have mobilized best-in-class resources and expertise to put this mishap behind us. Be rest assured of our resolve to limit the escape of oil and protect the ecosystem from its effects.”

In the statement signed by Mathew, the company averred that it remains committed to ensuring immediately that the circumstances are brought under better control and ascertaining the immediate and remote causes of the leak.

Furthermore, “It is important that we affirm our preliminary view based on our assessment of the proximate circumstances that it will be difficult to exclude deliberate tampering of the well by oil thieves attempting to siphon crude directly from the wellhead. In our view, sabotage remains the most imminent cause of this incident," the company stated.

“Oil theft and asset vandalism continue to present the biggest challenge we face in the operations of oil and gas production in the Niger Delta area. It has continued to damage the production profile of oil producers in so many ways.

As we commend the relevant security agencies with whom we interface to combat this menace, we believe the need and capacity to provide significantly more remain overwhelmingly critical especially because there is so much more to be done to realign the architecture of the delivery infrastructure of oil and gas production in Nigeria in line with the current industry structure of multiple producers operating assets that were previously built and managed by one producer.”

The company reiterated that it feels deeply concerned about the incident and that the circumstances and fortunes of the immediate community remain its most anxious consideration, which it stated had assumed the highest priority alongside making safe the well and its immediate environs.

“It is our fervent desire that in the attainment of this intensely challenging objective, the interests of the proximate community continue to be safeguarded in every material respect by the collective efforts of our company and all the industry professionals whose involvement Aiteo has convoked,” the statement concluded.
