Burger01:I dont understand o, biko what attention will Obasanjo be looking for again, the man is easily the most recognised Nigerian globally. Something i noticed on Nairaland is that people just like parroting the same lie over and over again hoping that by some form of miracle it will become the truth. |
meccuno:Good we are on the same page, Lagos is what it is today because of its strategic location, especially with easy access to sea, even Abuja with all the money sunk there have proven not to be as viable as lagos. It shows that the british were not fools. They believe in minimising cost by taking advantage of strategic locations. Every part of Nigeria can be viable if every body looks inward and concentrate on their areas of competitive advantages rather than envying others and blaming them for everything. All those infrastructure you mentioned have either been totally abandoned or in decrepit states, immediately Abuja became FCT lagos has been totally abandoned by the FG, but we are trudging on, Thats the spirit bro, lets complain less and focus more on getting things done the right way, Remember nobody can hold us down if we really want to achieve anything. |
meccuno:What exactly did the federal govenment do in the west thats not in the east? The port has always been in lagos from pre colonial times. Is it bridges? Airports? Roads? I really want to know exactly what the federal government did in the southwest that is absent in the east or any where else. For the sake of christ lagos has ceased being the fedral capital since 1991. The Europeans in their wisdom decided to make Lagos their abode and since then the city has been prominent. So how is that the fault of the Yorubas. Do you know how much has been sunk into Abuja and yet that place is as desolate as graveyard nobody is going there. |
[quote author=meccuno post=28677749]so the misuse of power by obasanjo to favour someone who is a sponsors of pdp is called business? Do you remember the Abacha years? How Many Yoruba businesses and business men were brought down? How they were hounded? Even the Yoruba millitary officers were not spared. The Yoruba people suffered greatly, it was indeed the year of locusts. You know what we could also have looked at the Nzeribes, the Chukwumerijes, the Daniel Kanus, the Frank Omenkas etc and declare all igbos our enemies and give excuses for our failures and woes, infact Abacha moved all the federal agencies to Abuja in one fell sweep ostensibly to cripple the yorubas. But you know what? We used to sing a song that you can take everything you want from Lagos but you cant relocate our Lagoon and sea. The yorubas stood firm and they triumphed over the evil general, they do not hold unnecceasary grudges, thats the spirit. Our parents taught us not to be giving excuses, nobody can hold you down if you are determined, for God's sake Germany lost the 2nd world war, as we speak today Americans have been trying hard to hold down the germans, my brother germany has moved on. NO EXCUSE IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR FAILURE, LEARN TO DUST YOUR PANTS AND MOVE ON. The yorubas hold no grudge agains the ibos, i have several occasions in this lagos when yorubas have sided with ibos whom they feel are about to be cheated. Bigotry breeds mutual suspicion and friction, my 2 pence. |
[quote author=meccuno post=28674384]So Ibeto was crippled for Dangote? Hmmmmm welcome to the world of business. So when Mike Adenuga's CIL was refused the gsm license while MTN and airtel were granted the same license it was because Mike Adenuga was an Ibo man? The same Adenuga came back with glo and had to pay 3 times what MTN and airtel before he was granted the license. Infact that same Obasanjo threatened to bring down Adenuga towards the end of the 2nd term, Adenuga had to run to Ghana to survive. My dear rugged business men survive, they show resilience and determination, they dont go whining about how Yorubas have refused to let them grow. The same Yorubas that have been coexisting alongsides igbos every where without as much as lifting a finger against them. The same Yoruba Obasanjo during his tenure had all the sensitive areas of the economy handled by the igbos, but because of Ibeto all yorubas have suddenly turned to witches and wizards haunting every sucesssful igbo. Guy just look into the mirror and see bigotry personified. |
Bayswater:Good explanation, i quite agree with you, but what stops us from refining the crude here? Can we still afford to continue dashing other countries our scarce forex when we can easily refine the crude here? |
meccuno:You see your biggest problem is blaming everybody for your woes, if you desire those things nobody cann stop you from getting them, in this life nobody gives u anything on a platter of gold, you fight for it, you can sit down and blame yorubas, americans, Hausa etc for all you can, you wont still get it. when June 12 was annulled, did the yorubas ask anybody for help? Or blamed anybody? No they learnt to fight for themselves, yes you can call them noise makers, but they made such loud noise that the world was forced to listen and they were compensated, when fuel subsidy was removed the same thing. You guys claim you are the best in everything, go ahead and get what you want stop blaming other people for your woes. its not for nothing that 99% of the FDI into the country last year came into the southwest, according to your president only Lagos and Ogun state alone accounts for 55% of Nigeria's economy activities, yet in your bigoted minds the yorubas are bad people destroying everything if they have destroyed everything why not simply go and reestablish then in your region and prove to the whole world how wonderful you are in resource management. |
Mr OP, are youbsuggesting that Atiku should usurp the power of the commander in chief and take over the fight against Boko haram? Also while not holding brief for Atiku, yes he was the chairman of the economy council and he left the economy better than he met it, dont forget also that oil price was just $9 when his administration took over in 1999 without meeting much in the treasury and with huge debts around the nation's neck. Can you sincerely say that about this present administration that came to power with billions of dollars in savings, no debt to pay and with oil selling for over a $100 for most of the time? |
meccuno:My friend i have travelled to every state down here in the south and even some states in the north, so dont give me that nonsense about leaving my village, only the state capitals and a few towns are worthy of mention, and even those lack any major commercial or industrial hub to sustain the population, its the reason your people will not stay there. Even those capitals how many people live there? They are usually desolate once night falls, 90% of the people dont even reside there they usually come from their rural and semi rural areas to do their daily businessess, If we mention 5 strategic states to the Nigerian economy my dear none will be from the south east #fact. |
[quote author=Justcash post=28658938]The OP stated that the problem is the NIGERIAN POLITICAL SYSTEM, and he did not absolve the Igbos from the complicities that led to the degradation of Nigeria. However, we must all agree that the degradation of Nigeria started from the late 70s till the late 90s. Unfortunately, the NIGERIANS from the Western and Nothern extraction were at the helm of affairs within this period. These leaders failed to UPDATE Nigeria. THEY FAILED TO UPDATE NIGERIA. Nonsense so the degradation started from the 70s, i guess all the events that led to the civil war started in the 70s? You people have this terrible knack of obliterating every piece of relevant history just to absolve yourself of complicity in the rot facing the nation. So since that 1970 no Ibo man has occupied any posiyion of power and so they cannot be blamed for anything, the duo of Shagari and Ekwueme almost ran the nation aground before the military intervened, Babangida and Ebitu Ukiwe/Augustus Aikhomu nko? Selective amnesia is indeed a wonderful weapon used by cowards to reject responsibilities for their failures. |
This write up is full of contradictions, the message is unclear and full of subtle threat, so Yoruba and Hausa destroyed Nigeria and no easterner was ever part of the government at any level during those years? Hmmmm. And if Yorubas dont vote goodluck you will write another totally useless write up to abuse them as you just did? And of course you dont stay in Nigeria and your family wont? Mennn what a load of poverty induced bull shit you have up there mr OP. |
[quote author=Matthewbriggs post=28618200]Bro if u fail 10 courses in the university, you are indeed a failure...... infact there is no how you can graduate without at least an extra year. |
Please give Yar adua F9 that guy achieved nothing the so called amnesty package is tantamount to psotponing the evil day, and let nobody come here with that bull shit claim that he reduced fuel price, he was actually on the verge of increasing the fuel price before he fell sick and died. If you accuse GEJ of being too friendly with corruption, what will you say of Yar adua and Ibori, Yar adua actually killed EFCC Goodluck only came to bury it. His war against anticorruption was legendary while GEJ is friendly with corruption, Yar adua fought hard for it, he promoted it, he appointed Farida Waziri who came to kill EFCC, Goodluck simply buried it. |
Adewale Ayuba converted a long time ago, as far back as 1997, i remember he was interviewed by Jumobi Adegbesan of the AIT lunch break and he revealed that he was converted by his wife. |
Ikengawo:Theres no doubting the fact the FG allocates oil blocs, why is Shell and Chevron selling theirs? If indeed the oil blocs are going to be as profitable as you think? The world is moving fast beyond oil, the earlier you understand that the better. |
All this writeup about Obasanjo is not enough to divert attention from the truth he is talking about. The truth during his tenure things were never this bad, the middle class that is currently being threatened with total annihiliation was created during his time, with much lower oil prices he was able to pay our debts and kept billions of dollars for the rainy days. Fast forward to a few years later, higher oil prices, more debts, empty treasury and suddenly mere stealing is mo longer corruption. PHCN was hurriedly privatised abd yet power supply has worsened terribly, rag tag terrorists have been given the license to kill as many people as they like and occupy as many territories as they want. Yet the only campaign cry the Jonathan administration can muster is the threat of war against those who vote against it. Obasanjo can talk let him talk he is justified he wasnt perfect, infact his performance wasnt excellent, but compared to Jonathan he was a million times better, in 2015 we will vote Goodluck out, let his well armed millitants go ahead and kill us all. |
Ikengawo:And by the time it expires, how much will a barrel of oil cost? You think Chevron and shell selling their blocs are fools. There will still be plenty oyel deposits in the world by the time that commodity becomes as worthless as water #fact. |
[quote i see, especially those areas with access to the sea, you are very smart dude, i must give it to you. |
pazienza:Now its republic of alaigbo, no more Biafra? I have always suspected that this tight glue to the aprons of south south is all about the oil, you just confirmed it. |
Obasanjo is bad blah blah blah, yet it was the same Obasanjo that paid off all our debts and left billions of dollars in savings for the future of this country, yet this present administration has not only frittered away all the savings,it has again plunged the country into huge debts within such a very short time. Biko i will chose Obasanjo ten times over this present cluless and confused administration jo. |
If you ask this government to sbowcase its achievement, if they dont brandish Obasanjo's very few achievements as their own, they will be stealing state's government achievements, Well its no big deal sha, they can steal as far as they are not corrupt no wahala #stealing is not corruption |
Caseless:That oyel that will soon become as worthless as pure water, let them keep deluding themselves, the world has gone beyond oil and nmoved on to greater things they are still bleating OYEL like goats. |
Mr Kashamu, all you need to do is go to America and say whatever you have to say, then we will believe you. |
This is too painful, Chaz B gone like that? haa this is a great loss, this is bad ooooo, so i wont hear his voice on radio again? why do good people die like this? why why why? |
APContherun:If someone needs to pick a paper before he sees an achievement, dont you think that achievement exists only on paper? |
Who was Tompolo when Obasanjo was in powere, never heard of him, Even the Asari noisemaker was living in a 20 feet underground dungeon. How times change. |
I am married to a Delta igbo lady, its no big deal jare. Every body is human. You dont have to limit your boundaries when it comes to love, You can go ahead and marry anybody that appeals to you. |
guy the more u try 2 explain this your Jinn rubbish, the more ridiculous you sound. |
