Popular simply means liked or appreciated!

New and popular, as used, are not in anyways connected. If you are not popular you may not get any vote and, in this case, does not mean you are "old meat".

In a constructive argument, you need to have a pattern that's easily understood and well comprehended; not interposed words that have conflicting meaning when used in the same line of argument.

When you are popular - appreciated - on those things you do or might have done, you are more or less active, progressive and PROVEN.

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (AFP) - The Crouch quadruplets are used to being something quite rare but not this rare -- all four have been accepted to America's prestigious Yale University.

Dean of admissions at the top Ivy League university, Jeffrey Brenzel, said the offer of places to Kenny, Martina, Ray and Carol, 18-year-old students at Danbury High School in Connecticut, was probably a first for the university.

"The living memory in the office here goes back about 35 years and to that person's knowledge, we've never had triplets, never mind quads," he told AFP.

"At the end of the day, the admissions committee said: 'Well, we want to take all of them,'" he said.

"They are all interesting and quite accomplished in their individual ways. They are extremely lively kids, very appealing, but clearly four different people. They are all in the top 10 percent of their class and their extracurricular activities vary in interesting ways."

The quads explained to The New York Times how they nervously logged on one-by-one to the Yale website to discover their fates.

First was Ray, who described how the screen suddenly turned Yale blue and displayed the university's bulldog mascot with the message "Welcome to the Class of 2014."

"We just kept logging on and screaming, logging on and screaming," Martina, last to find out, said in an interview with local television station WTNH-TV.

The siblings have until May 1 to decide whether to accept Yale's offers and part of the decision will come down to money, they told the Times.

Their father Steven works as a case manager with the Connecticut mental health department and their mother, Caroline, originally from Nigeria, is studying for her masters' degree in social work, according to the Times.

Ranked as the third-best university in the US after Harvard and Princeton, Yale's annual tuition fees can be as high as 36,500 dollars, which would land the Crouch family with a whopping bill of 584,000 dollars by the time they graduate in 2014.

Brenzel insisted the family would have access to financial aid if they required it.

@mike.d:

I'm a registered auto dealer based in Toronto, Canada. I buy different types of vehicles and parts all over North America for export. I do not buy from retail sellers because i have a license that makes it easier for me to buy at any auction site in N/America and based on that i'm able to save a lot of money for the consumers.

@oyb:

Tell me how do you wish to spend your own liberty?

I choose to be independent; to know i can do something and do it to the best of my satisfactions. If Mike Adenuga runs his company the way he chose, it's not anyone business to decide for him how to be a company executive. Mind you, it's just your own opinion of the man, anyways.

We need to start investing in our economy and investment don't have to come always from the foreigners. Yes, it's capital outlays is enormous, the way we stock our money in foreign country is not the best use of economic advantage, now that we have reserves that should be invested on building up our infrastructure.

Let's not forget what the topic is all about. It about selling of an existing technology and assets.

Give or take, a stranger cannot keep forth for you the way you'll do it yourself.

Nigeria will benefit from this as long as it's left in private hands; not government ownership.

Are we really suppose to depend on these various foreign companies forever? We should also invest in our own natural resources, build and develop our own technology the way we deem fit.

We should see this as a challenge to do things our one way. It's an opportunity that we should exploit. We must start somewhere and get going. If we make mistakes, fine as long as we don't quit we'll get there and it will be better for all people of Nigeria.

Where should we stand:

A man showed his son a vast land that he'll get when he died and told him that he'll be the richest man in the world if he can look beyond the land he sees.

The oldman passed away and the son takes possession of the land. He walk the length and breath of it and found no use for the land. He sold it. On the title paper of the land was written: Till The Land and You Will discover treasure. The man that bought it did exactly that and dug and found enormous treasure beyond his dream.

He became the richest man on earth and the son spent money buying the treasures from the land which was soon exhausted and went back to the land to work for the man that bought the land from him.

Foreign Affairs / Re: South Africa Police Chief Blames Nigerians For South African Drug Problems by ib612(m): 4:41am On Dec 16, 2009
It's common sense if i excrete on my door way and may not feel too bad about it, if any other person should do the same, how do you think i'll handle it.

The basis of another national having to commit a crime in another country is not and can never be a welcome idea. When the Vaswanis committed an offence in 9ja they were deported. Was George deported? SA will manage their problems and find solution to it. They'll not accept any national to contribute to their problems.

Although, the SA chief did not handle the situation professionally, yet he said what most of what other countries are saying about Nigerians.

Needless to say, it's crime that gets mention more compared to achievement by Nigerians. Dog bites man is not a news. Man bites a dog is news.

Car Talk / Re: Siena,: Pls Help Me Out. by ib612(m): 2:39pm On Dec 08, 2009
Let's call a spade a spade.

It appears that Deebeeg has made up her mind not to do anything to settle this problem, not now but at the very beginning. When i read through the lines, she's not been sincere at doing anything. Afterall, nobody is forcing her to do anything; she offered and the house encourage her to find a lasting settlement on the matter.

Why all this again?

DatNiggaAk you really need to move on and need not engage in this conversation any more. Do what you gotta do and do not allow this to get into your skin. I believe you find a way out to get a new engine rather than repairing the other one that's gone bad.

Goodluck.
Car Talk / Re: Siena,: Pls Help Me Out. by ib612(m): 9:48pm On Dec 05, 2009
I'm sure DatNiggaAk and Deebeeg will reach a settlement they both will be happy of. Things happen as Kunle-A has rightly said. Nevertheless, it's paramount to get feedback and have a good communication with whoever we deal with, whether it's $1 or $1m that's involved.

Guys, work things out and you'll both shame the devil.
Car Talk / Re: Behold The Made In Nnewi, nigeria Cars! by ib612(m): 3:03pm On Dec 02, 2009
Nice observation.

The truth is that no local company can grow under such uncontrolled competition. It's a vicious cycle, alright.
Car Talk / Re: Behold The Made In Nnewi, nigeria Cars! by ib612(m): 12:52am On Dec 02, 2009
@Siena:

It's sad to see that some people are emotional about this thing rather than face the reality.

Much as we all desire that we produce a car of note, there's a different between a patent holder and a brand licensee.

That's why i tried to re-phrase the topic so that we may be able to understand the differences. It is not meant in anyways to cast aspersion on anyone opinion. Yet, we need to understand some basic principle as illustrated by Siena.
Autos / Re: Fresh 2008 Toyota Corolla With Low Mileage by ib612(m): 12:15am On Dec 02, 2009
It amazes me when people jump into conclusion on things they don't have a clue.

When a car is manufactured before June of any year .i.e. 05/2007, that means such car is for a 2007 year model.

When a car is made from June of 2007, it means that car is a 2008 model.

The new Toyota corolla is a 2009 model sequence.
Car Talk / Re: Behold The Made In Nnewi, nigeria Cars! by ib612(m): 3:44pm On Dec 01, 2009
Ok.

Let's re-phrase it.

BEHOLD: MADE for NIGERIA, ASSEMBLED IN NNEWI, for NIGERIA ROAD.
Car Talk / Re: Behold The Made In Nnewi, nigeria Cars! by ib612(m): 2:11am On Dec 01, 2009
When parts of cars, especially, engines, tranny, ecu (brain box), come from or are made by another country, then the other country second or third merely assembles.; they are not the manufacturer.

Compare the old Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria and the France's Peugeot. Are Peugeot made by 9ja?

Please, don't call urselves names. Afterall, it's all about an opinion.
Autos / Re: 1999 Toyota Camry Le(green) by ib612(m): 3:46am On Nov 29, 2009
Most of the reactions are borne out of ignorance.

When you change an engine on a car in North America you can't change the speedo cluster; it's a crime.

Probalbly the entire engine was changed. What need be done is to take a test drive on the car to feel how it responds.

I mentioned on one of the thread, and even attached pix, here that not all clean title cars are asually clean. Some salvaged or irrepairables are better.
Nairaland / General / Re: CNN: Hospitalised Nigerian President (Umaru Yar'adua) Not Stepping Down. by ib612(m): 2:31am On Nov 29, 2009
No matter what we think should happen, it's very important that we pray for Mr. President in whatever situation he/we find ourselves.

Yes, Nigerians deserve attention from her leader however, we cannot build a nation on falsehood, force and that's what the military stand for if it takes over the leadership of the State.

I know the man will take a decision that will benefit the nation very soon. He knows he's serving the nation and not the other way round and when it appears his state of health will not help the nation move as fast as we need to, surely he'll step aside for the benefit of the nation.

Lastly, it's not a crime in 9ja to refuse to vote. When a large number of people boycott election, you'll be sending a message!
