And who is the international community?

Show you have not travelled beyond the boundaries of W/Africa to know that nobody cares. To be a man and be counted as one you solve your own problems. Abi why did you seek independence from your colonial masters?

Litmus: If you scratch beneath the surface for reasons for the advice a frighting scenario emerges. You could imagine that if the outbreak of Ebola in the worst afflicted nations is not contained but worsens, as experts abroad predict, then economic life will so degrade in those Nations that people will try to leave in great numbers to other Nations in other to survive not just spread of the disease but hunger. In such a situation there will not even be a pretense that the disease is being managed. Neighboring Nations such as Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Ghana will be faced with refuge crises. Since there's no telling who among these refugees has the disease -at least before it is too late - it is likely that Nations to whom the refugees flee will be overwhelmed. The nationals of Nations to whom the refugees flee may not be as diplomatic as the authorities, leading to unpredictable and dire consequences.
So the request for nations to ease flight restrictions could be construed as a request for nations to share resources to deal with this epidemic or else we be invaded by "disease spreading refugees". So we either face or risk slow contamination if we lift flight restrictions or faces or risk massive contamination by uncontrolled influx of refugees and rogue emigrants.
The thing is, and i feel ashamed for thinking this and apologize but....but unlike Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Ghana, we're really far from the dangerous borders of the heavily afflicted nations. We have international sponsored terrorists taking our lands, elections looming, we should look after ourselves first. We should continue to restrict flights, monitor travelers, and do our best with our borders. The international community should really be the ones doing more. They should send massive assistance to Liberia, Freetown country,Guinea and not continue to deal with this epidemic piecemeal as they've been doing until now - if as they believe the worst is yet to come.
And who is the international community?

Show you have not travelled beyond the boundaries of W/Africa to know that nobody cares. To be a man and be counted as one you solve your own problems.

PoliticsRe: Ibadan Isn't, Lagos Is The Largest City In Africa. by ibedun: 8:34pm On Aug 28, 2014
yomexp: and because it's ancient doesn't make it any less a city ok. and in terms of land mass it's still the biggest in sub-sahara africa.
Understandably the concept of city is very new to our Eastern brothers.

Ibadan was named the second largest city in Africa for sometime behind Cairo.

Cairo is an old city like Ibadan. Just like Timbuktu and Kano in the century before last.
PoliticsRe: 30 Percent Or Nothing!!! Have Your Say by ibedun: 6:01pm On Aug 28, 2014
Thats the reason we are where we are.

The inexperience, foolish and ignoramus youths who took over power, followed by young inexperienced, brought-up-in-bush military officers are what led Nigeria (and to a large extent the African continent) to where we are today.

The youths of today will be an even greater disaster. Just look at Nollywood and the successful artists.

They sing about money. ferrarris, bugarrtis, women and pleasure etc.etc No sense of responsibility whatsoever.

No Youth o! we need experienced adults with good public service track records.

Igbo sees brown and rustic roof. I see ancient cities, testament to our continue greatness.

When a child see money for the first time he is bound to misbehave.

We have been doing it for centuries unlike those who left the bush and interior villages just a few years back.

N17Billion is a drop in the bucket for a state reputet to have 20million residents (a sizeable inconsequential proportion running away from their own fatherland).

Thats just over 1.25 billion dollars, for a state of 20 million people (thats still serious poverty!!!)

PoliticsRe: Ignorance Of Those Praising APC/ SW Debts by ibedun: 4:15pm On Aug 23, 2014
Emergency economists!

You can borrow to invest in infrastructure particularly in areas conducive to economic activities like Lagos. The infrastructure facilitates more activities and people and companies and businesses gravitate to those areas. The government then increases taxes, levies and the likes (generates more income) to service the loan (interest and principal). The businesses make sufficient enough profits and returns and are able to pay the taxes comfortably. And so the multiplier effects continues, property prices rockets, valuation rockets, everything goes up as more and more people and corporations are drawn to the area (including immigrant traders), the government is the able to widen the tax net to cover more activities, property taxes, shop levies, the government's income increases exponentially (ask Ambode the next governor of Lagos State)

Obviously if you are empty Aqua Ibom State (or any of the economically un-viable states) and financing infrastructure through borrowing, then your analysis may be correct.

In terms of Lagos, sorry your analysis is a bit of a nonsense.

I don do everything Brov, I didnt have to go to An Igbo for anything. I bought a jeep from them a few years back but now I make sure the dealer is omoodua before i buy. But if the 3 Igbos remaining in my house fail to pay their rent for more than 1 month after the due date (as they have been doing despite being so called Ladipo spare part dealers, haba! Igbos get mouth)

Your achievement counts for nothing if you can do it in your fatherland. Period!
All those shameless old Igbo people in Lagos, big shame!

PoliticsRe: Can A Governor Be From A Different Tribe? True Democracy! by ibedun: 2:41pm On Aug 23, 2014
Sloan: You these Igbos and your long throat! You've failed massively in governing the smallest patch of land in Nigeria, an entire region smaller than some states. No other Nigerian aspires to govern any state in the SE, people who live there do so mostly because of FG work assignments. No normal non-native student will leave the best schools in the West, in the north and SS to go to SE. No Nigerian wants to stay longer in SE than he has to but ibos on the other hand want to keep their land to themselves and migrate to claim joint indigeneship in other parts of Nigeria why abusing the same people! Imagine ibos saying why do northerners always give their building contracts to ibos as though they are too stupid to be building contractors on their own? Mister forget it! With millions of native indigenes in almost every state, there is absolutely no reason, nothing an ibo man can bring in governance that can not be found in the native population. Yet, Iboland is the most failed region outside the places where terrorism has a foothold in Nigeria.
Crazy Igbos talk about Lagos as if Lagos means anything.

Lagos is just one of a few administrative outpost created to administer Nigeria and bring development to the people. It is an important and integral part of Yoruba Land and will forever remain so.

Foolish people having stupid ideas

redsun: Soon people like you will be left behind on the scorching earth while the real people of the new age will endlessly float across the oceans and skies in their gigantic enclaves that never stops.
Do ever imagine what the earth might be in a thousand years time? And in your time you can't make the best of it,stuck up in past past and thinking in reverse.
Give me just one example (Country or city state, America is a stolen land so not a good example) where the above has happened. We are all tribal and we have our own portion of the Earth, and wars have been fought and will continue to be fought to defend it.

Even the Romans eventually went back home.
PoliticsRe: Can A Governor Be From A Different Tribe? True Democracy! by ibedun: 1:10pm On Aug 23, 2014
My brother, democracy have limits. You just haven't seen it.

What is democracy in getting enough of your people to migrate en mass to somebody else's land in the hope to usurp their governance and tradition by voting yourselves in into power or threatening to 'take over' based on some bogus democracy.
PoliticsRe: Can A Governor Be From A Different Tribe? True Democracy! by ibedun: 1:04pm On Aug 23, 2014
Foolish thinking.

This sort of thing takes time. How can I a Yorubaman expect to appear in Kaduna and hope to rule them because we share the same Nigerian nationality?

I would expect that to be possible in 300 years time, long after the tribal lines have faded. America is not a good example because the country's original people have been wiped out.

London (Paris) (Amsterdam) are full of immigrants but that has had very little impact on the governance and representation. As cosmopolitan as London is, it is represented almost in full by indigenous English people (and rightly so)
