Do you need to sit in board meeting to know that Blind is a Van-Gaal signing while Herrera, although signed during Van Gaal tenure is inherited from David Moyes. Those who follow their club well will know some things. |

airmark: What i read in the past was that, the coach would submit his list and club will check and decide who to buy and sometimes would replace with players they believe are within their financial grasp.
When they asked mou about djilobodji, he said he was told he was a good player to buy. If you think all those that joined chelsea in the last window, were suggested by conte, that you are wrong. That conte remained silent since, doesn't mean he was part of the problem. You don't expect him to turn down replacements approved by his superiors, i mean those that threw his list in the bin. We heard that he wanted to resign, now we know the story was true and the reasons for such decision.
Conte is forced to use those average players that the clubs believe will do the same job of on conte's list, at a good price.
When matic wanted to go and he was asked about him, he said, ask the club. He is not a fool to drop the blame on the club's door step.
If emenalo didn't reveal conte's first choice, lordfalcao and some clueless people would still think, conte preferred morata to lukaku from the onset.
I will like to know how you got to know bakayoko and zappa, are mainly his suggestions. I am of the same opinion as you have stated above, however no one will deny that the worst transfer of them all, Bakayoko belongs to Conte. You only have to see Conte talk on Bakayoko vs Chalobah, and follow the 6 months build-up to Bakayoko signing, plus Contes incessant praise, and playing of Bakayoko, plus Contes history on gigigba central midfielders of limited technique such as Naingollan, Marco Parolo and Vidal to know this is is a Conte signing. If the club is bad, we must have proof that Conte is better within that price range. Conte is clueless within that price range. |

Nihilist: So you were at the meetings with Conte and the board and knew exactly who Conte did and did not ask for.... From my records, Chelsea signings are allocated as such: Luiz - Roman Batsuayi - Emenalo Rudiger - Emenalo Kante - Conte (but only after the club refused to spend £40m on a 29 year-old run-run player Naingollan) Bakayoko - (Strongly Conte) Morata - (Conte, albeit 2nd choice behind Lukaku) Zappacosta - (Conte, albeit 3rd choice behind Walker and Ox) Alonso - (Club - Unallocated, but not Conte) Drinkwater - (Club - Unallocated, but not Conte) Barkley - (Club - Unallocated, but not Conte) He that will come to equity must come with clean hands. The club may be bad with transfers, but Conte is just as bad. Conte should tell us which innovative sub-£40m player he has recommended, not Ronaldo and Messi. The worst transfer of the lot belongs to Conte. |

airmark: Conte : "As you know very well I don't like to speak about the transfer market. For this issue and topic there is the club. The club decide our transfer market. As I said before my task is to improve the team, my players, to make the best decision for the game and rotate and find the right balance in every game.
"At the same time my task is to try to take the best of my players. But in the transfer market, from the summer there is the club and they decide for every single player that comes here.
"I repeat I try to give everything for the club, but about the transfer market there is the club. The club have to take the best decision for the team and take responsibility."."
I've been wondering on who was making stupid transfer decisions, bringing average/injured players into the team. Chelsea is in big trouble. Conte actually has a hand in the bad transfer decisions. Any manager can claim they suggested Sanchez, Lukaku, Alex Sandro, Kyle Walker, Vidal, Ronaldo and Messi which is what Conte has done. Any 5 year old can do that. When the club come back to you and say we don't have money for Vidal. I don't expect you to suggest Bakayoko. When they say we don't have money for Kyle Walker, I don't expect you to suggest Zappacosta. When the club say who do you want for centre-back, don't phucking ask for a £50m 30-year-old Bonnuci. When they say we don't have money for Alexis, please don't suggest or acquiesce to Dzeko or Andy Carroll. Tolisso was there, Doucoure is there, Sebastian Rudy was there for free, Paredes was there for midfield. Infact, Nathan Ake, Van Ginkel and Pasalic are there within your team, but you went to waste money on phucking Bakayoko. At right back, Toljan was there, even Kiko Femenia on free transfer. Left-back, you did not suggest Theo Hernandez if you could not get Benjamin Mendy. You did not suggest Andrew Robertson or ask for Kolasinac who was on free transfer, nor do you know who Ryan Sessegnon is. Centreback, you did not suggest Harry Maguire or Manolas, it was Bonucci. Contes only defence at the moment is that he asked for players worth £60m and above. That is not good enough. Any 5 year old can do that. The club are not blocking the positions he needs strengthening, they are just buying the wrong players. If Conte needs left-back he gets left-back albeit Palmieri instead of Sandro. If he needs central midfielder, he gets Bakayoko, he needs centre-back, he gets Rudiger. He did not ask for a winger, the club did not go and buy a winger he did not ask for. So at least the club is listening to the needs of the manager, unlike the days of RDM and Benitez where Emenalo signs positions he wants (wingers) and don't care what the team needs (midfielders). Conte is not a scout, so I won't blame him, but he does not watch football, and he does not know the sub £35m market which is the market the club operates in now. The worst players in the team within that price range were suggested by Conte, and he cannot distance himself from them (Bakayoko and Zappacosta), thats why he plays Bakayoko every game despite him stinking cos those players are his suggestions. |

Imagine playing with Bakayoko, Zappacosta, new signings that are totally demoralising like Drinkbleach, Barkley, signing likes of Palmieri just returning from ACL, buying 32 year old Dzeko, bidding for Carroll etc.

sinizia: 80 Whaaaaaaaat?!!
80m on top the 500k+ contract and other juicy bonus? Are you serious?
And these people are hyperventilating over 10m signing-on bonus of Sanchez? Messi learned from how Neymar took money as signing on fee, leaving Santos with virtually nothing. He ran his contract down till it was 7 months left. He figured Barca would pay £200m if they had to buy him normally so why not take £80m for himself. As far as Barca are concerned, they've saved £120m. This is the new reality now. Players are now trading on the opportunity cost of signing a replacement by letting their contracts run down and getting paid off signing bonus. |

Even if we assume KDB Sterling make it thats still 4 City players vs 5 Man Utd players Sterling is £180k, KDB is £260k. You musta knocked your head if you thought they both signed new contracts at less than the going rate. Man Utds average weekly wage bill is the same as Citys. MoR2: The rest stuffs Hazard said:
“Football is simple: keep the ball on the ground and try [to play] like we did. I think we have two very good strikers in Alvaro and Michy. If they are not ready to play I can play striker, so I don't think we need [another one].
“Because we are missing chances people are saying we need another striker, but if we are scoring goals we are the best attack in the league and no one can say we need a striker. It depends on the form of the team and I think we're happy with the team we have.
Michy Batshuayi Eden Hazard Chelsea Brighton Premier League
“Who is the best team this year? Man City. The strikers, [Gabriel] Jesus and [Sergio] Aguero, are not big. It's simple. It depends how you want to play. If you want to play with long balls you need a target man, if you want to keep the ball on the floor you need a small guy. It depends how you want to play.
“Yes, it sometimes happens. From the first minute until the last one you feel confident. When you score early it's easier because you have the confidence straight from the start of the game.
“When you see the second goal with Willian, it's one of the best of the season because we create movement with one touch, one touch, and then the finishing is good. We want to do more like this.
“No, no. Maybe one big boy can do that also! Of course we are sharp on the floor, so maybe it's easier to do the movement we are working on in training.” This is a low-key complaint by Hazard against Conte for trying to buy big men for aerial balls. Hazard wants no part of that vision, and is not happy with the treatment of his friend Batsman in favour of wastemen like Carroll. If Conte decides to go down gidigba route, Hazard could become disenchanted and leave. |

Leyqute: However, the quality is still there. Watford might have sacked him but he could probably be the only manager available who can help them fight that relegation battle successfully. Nah Watford will be fine. Any position they need strengthening, they will get from Udinese or Granada, also owned by Pozzo family. Watford managers actually suffer from having too many players to pick from. Hence they can go in January and pick a player of the quality of Doucoure like they did last year. It's a club that goes through chaos every year that would relegate other teams, but they just have too many players between those 3 clubs to ensure they are kampke by season end. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Ibime(m): 12:56pm On Jan 21, 2018 |
Leyqute: Watford is a wicked club. How can you treat someone in that manner? They blocked Silva from getting a better job and then sacked him months later after interest in him had waned. I hope they relegate. Silva messed himself up. He showed no commitment or basic modicum of decency when Everton came calling just 4 or 5 months after signing with Watford. How do you then expect players to pull together for the cause when their manager has zero commitment to the club? Silva is the first of a new breed of managers who behave like players that can start grumbling just 3 months after signing for a club because another club wants them. No matter how good you are as a manager, the ability to keep players motivated is the core function of your role, and Silva lost respect and player commitment once he behaved inappropriately like some hungry man at the first sign of interest in him. Not like it was even a big club showing interest sef! Gone are the days when a managers commitment to a club is guaranteed for 1 or 2 years at least. I'm sure Silva's mentor Mourinho advised him to make such stüpid moves. Mourinho is one that starts asking club for new contract before his first year is up. He did it in his two spells at Chelsea, Madrid, Manure and Inter. |
