At this point Courtois has a gun to our head over his contract expiring in 18 months. We should just give him the £200k he's demanding before he switch it to £350k like Ozil and Sanchez. To buy the Butland they are talking of will prolly cost £40m which is about what we can get for Courtois at this stage anyway.

It is not by dribble and shoot all the time like Andros Townsend. All Depay moves seem to end with him being dispossessed while dribbling or shooting over the bar. He needs to learn interplay with his teammates.

In Modern football full backs are a potent part of the attack to deliver necesary assists. Last season Zabaleta 1 league assist in 20 games, Clichy 0 league assist in 25 games, Kolarov 1 league assist in 29 games, Sagna 1 league assist in 17 games

Total last season Sagna + Clichy + Kolarov + Zabaleta = 3 league assist all season

This season Kyle Walker alone 4 assists and this is November

Forget Zabaleta. We ain't talking about him. Sagna was Citys main RB last season and was quite strong. Navas had that overlapping energy and pace also and was deployed there. Zabaleta has never been that pacy player even at 22. He only started 11 EPL games last season. He is not someone you play highline with. If you do, that's your problem.

On top of that Kolarov has that energy and still displaying that at Roma. Clichy is even faster than Delph till today.

So not arguing that fullbacks have not improved Citeh. Any upgrade will improve them. I am arguing that what they had last season was enough for Pep to win. Man City started turning around in mid-January last season with KDBs move to CM and only lost away to Chelsea from that point. That was the major game-changer.

Alonso is slower than all the players mentioned above bar Zabaleta.

Kolarov is still a flying fullback like Walker while Fabian Delph is not far from Sagna in anything. So Pep had the tools last season, never mind talk of fullbacks.
