raumdeuter: I dont have any child of school age. And daycare I pay just a little below $350 a week. At that rate for 52 weeks I pay about $17k per child. Thats enough to get my child into a private school.
For taxes in 2016 I paid over 20K in federal Social security and medicare
But as a Naija man, you will have maybe 3 kids and become a burden to society.
In the UK, we don't get free school till 4, or 5 if you are born in September like my daughter. From 4 till 18, Govt will pay £9k per year toward her schooling.
As for me and my household, we will always be in the black with Government cos na double income household. Na una wey like to fire different baby mamas go dey burden taxpayer. Trump need to deport you.
raumdeuter: All what govt gives away in Welfare should be directed to public infrastructure.
Not robbing Peter to pay Paul
The funny thing about people like you is that you don't realise you are being subsidised by the rich because you don't know the numbers.
You actually need those billionaires to pay that top rate to keep you, Dayo in the black.
Let's assume you pay $20k tax per year.
Cost of education per child in USA is $11,700.
With your 3 baby mamas, that is a burden of $25k from you Dayo to the taxpayer.
Average cost of Police per capita in USA is $500. For you and your 3 kids (not counting baby mamas), that is $2k
Military spend per capita in USA is $1.9k. For you and 3 kids, that is $8k
Cost of other emergency services is $2k per capita. For you and 3 kids, that is $8k
Cost of infrastructure is $2k per capita ie $8k between you and your kids
etc etc etc.
To summarise, the USA spends $11.4k per head of population. For you and your 3 kids, that is $45k and you are paying $20k tax and opening your mouth that you are subsidising poor people when infact multimillionaires are subsidising you.
There is a reason why 5% of people pay 80% of the tax, and that is to subsidise people like you.
Both the poor and the middle class alike are being subsidised by the rich. It's funny to hear middle-class people think they are subsidising the poor when they are not even covering their own liability.
raumdeuter: Everyone can as well sit down and hope this "Helping fellow citizens" will come. If we all sit down waiting for this help, then who will provide Help?
raumdeuter: Then you use your money to get security or armed guards to protect you or move away from the neighborhood plagued with those vices. How many robbers can get to Dangote, Adenuga, Zukerberg Musk?
Ok I get it. Ibime, work hard unlike me, study hard unlike me, take risks unlike me, make money unlike me and pay me out of your money or else I will become an armed robber and make life difficult for you
See this man, you think many of our robbers are not graduates who worked hard?
Millions are on the trapdoor of falling the other way, rather than joining the Zuckerbergs. You mean a nigga who just wants to build the cars below is a lazy man?
raumdeuter: Cut all entitlements except the ones to disabled people. We dont need to live in a ideal world where you don't have to work but expect to get fed
You don see all those Danfo and 9-11 with stickers of No food for Lazy man
Kidnapping and robbing is all part of not being a lazy man.
When job no dey, the most unlazy thing to do is grab your AK and go robbing.
raumdeuter: If you cant relate to Seun, shebi you sabi tkb wey we dey post on here before my guy tkb dropped out of paid employment, took a risk invested his money which I was too scared to do. Should they be punished?
I sabi tkb, I sabi Seun, I sabi akinalabi. Nigerian income tax rate is flat I believe so they are fine. I done tell you say if you want enjoy am, kindly move back
raumdeuter: Why should we target multimillionaires?
Are you saying its ok for some people to pay 0 in taxes just to punish the millionaires? Some of these millionaires started from the same level as you. They took risks we werent willing to take, they worked hours we weren't willing to work, studied courses you werent willing to study to be where they are
So why should they be punished for working harder or taking risks
If you are increasing taxes on inheritance, I am fine with that. But not the afrodoc2 guy in my class who is a geek, who studied while we are partying, did all nighters in class while nihilist was doing all nighter and sweating on Nkechi and now became a neurosurgeon making $1m a year.
E.g Osewa the owner of NL was my mate in Ife, he was always reading had no social life aside going to fellowship ECU and studying(worked harder). by Year 3 he decided to dropout(took a risk) I looked at him like an idiott then for doing that
15yrs later he is making 100M a year I am making say 5M a year but I want govt to tax him more and punish him for doing what I couldnt do
Or even my guy tkb dropped out of paid employment, took a risk invested his money which I was too scared to do. Should they be punished?
It ain't personal. Budgets are budgets and numbers are numbers. This is the most efficient way for most countries to achieve budget.
This is the story you should have given us to start, not telling us story about carpenters.
The truth is, the old political arguments of the 1980s and 1990s about Reaganite tax-cuts to fit Says law are getting redundant. I trust the GOP to still be peddling such views in the 21st century.
When you have the likes of Zuckerberg and Elon Musk telling us the days of Universal Welfare are almost due because they already see how automation and globalisation is eviscerating jobs, then you should know that Says Law is redundant in the modern economy.
These guys like Zuck and Elon are the Industrialists of our age, not Henry Ford, and they have told us korokoro what it is. The day I saw a car being made with no human input - tens of thousands of parts put together by automation, na the day I shock. More tax dollars given back to the wealthy will only mean more robots and more outsourcing, rather than supply-side stimulus and job-creation in the economy.
And don't get me wrong, I'm a staunch conservative.
You've been listening to too many talkshows. If you want flat tax, go back to Naija.
As long as top tax rate is around 40%, I'm fine with it.
It is actually aimed at the billionaires and millionaires, not at the middle income professionals in the £43,000-£200,000 range.
If you drop the top-tax rate much below 40%, your countries tax-base will be wiped out and deficits will deepen. So I don't mind being out-of-pocket a bit knowing that it is aimed at the multimillionaires. The actual hit to my pocket from the step change from 20% to 40% in UK is just over £4k, but I will rather pay an extra £4k than have the Duke of Cambridge save £100m on his tax bill . . . . . cos in the long run, we will need to find that £100m from somewhere and they will still come back to tax us for it eventually.
What this video should have done is focused on the real agitators ie the billionaires seeking to wipe off billions of tax liability rather than trying to pass it off as the difference between carpenters who work hard and those who don't. I'm happy to pay my £4k.
Chuksonyeike: why exactly was Jega insisting on holding elections in February even when over 40% of people were yet to get their PVCs especially in the SS/SE where GEJ support was considered strong? GEJ ought to have taken the bulls by the horns and had him removed at that point as it was obvious then Jega was already compromised. That is why I somehow blame him for his travails
Go and ask PDP members in the South who were chopping money instead of mobilising voters on voter registration drive.
Instead of using the stolen money for the purpose intended, they were busy stashing it in empty houses. A case of thieves thieving from the chief thief.
My respect for Eriksen just increased threefold. He dropped deep into midfield and ran the game like a young Xavi. That may actually be his best position.
Greatihex: but, we can't just keep Fabregas out of the line up. We can't have to do without that his understanding and combination with hazard and Costa coupled with his creativity. Didn't you see his contribution yesterday?
I saw, I saw. But at the same time it was almost the same probability of Southampton going ahead and taking points off us in that first half before Cahill's goal settled the nerves. Our wings were under serious overload that first half.
I will remind you that Juan Mata once made 35 assists in a season and was sold the next season for tactical stability.
I am not claiming Uhuru on 3-5-2 just yet. Let the team work on it and stop those overloads first before I can get comfortable with it.
