lordfalcao: Emenalo doesn't have any power in Chelsea.. He sanctions deals delivered by coaches and scoat. You meant to say all the boys you dislike are leaving?
raumdeuter: When I talksay obesity dey worry you, You wont see that Boateng was in the Euro 2016 team of the tournament
Wetin Pique and Iniesta dey do there? I should be asking you who live and die by awards, Maybe the same reason Terry and Beckham were making award list. I didnt see you asking this foolish question when they were giving Terry undeserved awards upandan
donjazet: Wow! Just wow! You should be a professional pundit. I made this same exact comment on dailymail and got about 200 red buttons( those who understand). Many disagreed, mourinho Neva likes defenders who plays out from the back or is comfortable on the ball, he prefers defenders who just clear everything in their path and thinks "safety first " which was why Luis was sold in the first place. Zouma really flourished because he is the typical clear-out defender, just like Jones now, they just clear everything in their path and that's why I am very skeptical about zoumas suitability to this formation which requires a ball playing defender. Although I haven't really watched Christensen, his passing stats are quite healthy. We can only hope on him.
It's not just passing, but also the physical ability to move your body in different directions at speed.
The requirements are different for centrebacks, midfielders and fullbacks. That Azpi position requires all three. Zouma only has the physical flexibility of a centreback. He is built for straight race, whereas Azpi can change body direction in a press quickly similar to someone playing "Fool" or "Pig in the middle" as Europeans call it . . . which is the body movement required for stepping into the midfield.
raumdeuter: So will you now commit suicide? We that have seen Boatank game for the past 3 yrs told you he is one of the best and better than Terry but slow learners like you were waiting for awards
Glad to hear he won his first International award.
Chelseafan1: When this is taken cared of, I think we are ready to challenge the big boys(Madrid, Barca, Bayern) with our formation.

You done miss road.
Azpi is no LWB.
I also hope you notice that Azpi steps up into our midfield from that RCB most games to help us dominate the midfield. In my opinion, that makes him the key player in this setup from that RCB position. Zouma is utterly incapable of pressing high up into the midfield like Azpi does, and too utterly uncomfortable on the ball to play in this setup.
Truth be told, if we are to persist with 3-4-3, then Zouma needs to be sold.
Greatihex: that is what I thought initially, but when I watched the highlight again, I now saw that both luiz and azpi moved to keep kane and alli offside. You will notice that both of them moved at the same time. It was Moses that spoilt it due to not being a natural defender.
Yeah you're right.
Although the goal woulda still stood if Moses stepped up as Kane would be the one offside, not Alli.
Nihilist: If Azpi and Moses step up there, then Alli and Kane are offside which is what Nateevs was pointing out.
Note that Luiz was marking Kane until he realises that Alonso has allowed Eriksen the ball. Luiz then steps up in an attempt to force Alli and Kane Offside.
I don't see how Luiz carries any blame for the goal at all.
Yeah I spotted that on 2nd viewing. Moses shoulda stepped up, but then again he's not a defender so it won't come natural to him
nateevs: That's the tactical set up and nothing to do with Luiz.
Considering that Dele was playing on the left side of their attack, I don't expect our middle CB to be marking Dele. There would have been severe structural defensive consequences had we gone into the game like that.
Moses steps out with entire back line, and the first goal doesn't go in.
It was a pre-planned tactic. It happened many times in the game. Their manager knew our weaknesses, one of them being Azpi and Moses being unable to mark Dele in the air.
The contention here is not who was marking Alli but who was marking Kane.
Luiz left Kane inexplicably and called Azpi to come and mark him, opening road for Alli where Azpi was.
Can you explain Luiz thought process in this goal? Who is he leaving Kane to go and mark?
Nihilist: I wish I had a video of the clip to post here.
On both Occassions Alli is attacking Azpilicueta. Alli is taller than Azpi and better in the air. If Cahill stays compact then he can take Kane and Luiz takes Alli....but Cahill clearly feels he can't trust Alonso so he steps up, Luiz is forced to follow 6'4 Kane about and hope that Azpi can deal with Alli.
If Alonso could be trusted, none of that happens. Stop the cross, stop thr goal. Pedro is now playing left back because Alonso's ineptitude has been glaring.
Luiz was not following Kane.
Luiz left Kane inexplicably, causing Azpi to run across to Kane thereby vacating the space Alli ran into.
I am still baffled at what Luiz saw that made him run like headless chicken away from Kane.
Members of this thread should come and do register so we can establish who is missing. If you ask me, the boy on Bayern shirt looks like a Houseboy/Akpan.
donjazet: You have a valid point when u talk about his age but he can still give us 3 solid years!. There are two important factors which is lacking in our team right now; height and shots from outside the Box, these are qualities which we once had and were masters of, whenever teams came to defend, there was always a Lampard to shoot superb balls from outside the Box! We always had tall players in our squad which really helped us in big matches or in tight contest, for set pieces, we have had John Terry, Drogba, Lampard, bosingwa, ivanovic, cahill, Joe Cole, makalele. We could score lots of goals from set piece. The fact that cahills goal last match was the only goal we've scored from set piece this season is shocking
We now have too many short players in the squad who rely on skills all the time. A midfield of Kanye and veratti would not be balanced at all. We need some tall players now and Vidal would give us not just that height but also shots from outside the Box which we terribly need. Kante for all his work rate is creatively limited, he is not technical one bit, no vision, no accurate direct passing, no freekicks! He is just there to break up the oppositions play and recover possession( which is much needed). Vidal balances the equation. He brings everything to the table! He is one beast of a midfielder
Emenalo, bring him on!!!
Vidal is only 5 ft 11.
Why not sign Fellaini if you are looking for height?
Vidal is not a passing midfielder. Combination of him with Kante would not be ideal.
