Malaria is ten times more deadly than Covid (though less infectious) and some African countries are yet to fumigate their environment to get rid of mosquitoes. That should show you how unserious African leaders are, it's not a case of authoritarianism. Gambia have at certain times been able to fumigate and eradicate mosquitoes though, kudos to them.
